Phrixus was off taking a look around for a good watering hole and leaving Kouki to his own artsy devices for a while. There was only so much art he could take at a time. He paused at a tall rock to rub an itch on his back. Arching his back into the rock he sighed in pleasure when it stopped itching.
Maybe while he was out and away from his personal conscious he could find a pretty lady friend, Or maybe even a good fight. At this point he wasn't picky about which found him. Heck he'd settle for a like minded individual. No more pansy art. Even if it was good pansy art. Kouki probably needed a break from him too.

It had been a long day and Isuke'Boon was parched. First she'd had to chase some stupid flea-bitten hyenas away from her meal. She really couldn't stand hyenas, or any other scavengers really. Any animal that fed off of others kills at all times had no honor. After dealing with the hyenas there had been some bird thing that wanted to talk her ear off about the state of the rhinos. So annoying.
Luckily she'd finally found a good watering hole. All she really wanted now was to enjoy a good long drink in peace. She bent her head down and began lapping up water gratefully.Kouki was not sulking. Really, he wasn't. That's what he'd say if you asked him anyway. He really did look like he was from the way he was laying there batting at a pebble with his paw. Phrixus had wanted to go off on his own for a little bit and really Kouki was fine with that. Which is again what he would have said if asked. In reality though Kouki didn't really want to be left alone. His muse was being fickle and he couldn't think of anything interesting or beautiful to make so he was just bored and worried about what kind of trouble Phrixus would be getting into. After all Phrixus had a way of finding fights and other things that Kouki thought were a bad idea when he wasn't around to stop it. With a big sigh Kouki laid his head on his paws and stared at the pebble. "Guess it's just you and me right now pebble. You me and a whole lot of nothing to do. If you were a pretty lady lion, maybe I'd make a picture of you in the dirt. But you're just a pebble."

Phrixus wandered over to the water hole he'd spotted from the top of a hill. Taking a glance around the water there were a few daring zebras on the other side and a lone hyena looking at them hungrily. Birds were floating on top of the water and fluttering around a few wildebeest. And then there was the lioness. She was big for a female, muscled and sturdy, that was a fighter's body if ever he saw one. Excellent.
He walked down towards the water and took a long drink. He didn't care if he was in her personal space bubble. He knew he could handle himself in a fight. He wasn't necessarily looking for one with this female (they could be much more vicious then males). But if one happened he wouldn't say no.

Suddenly Isuke'Boon's peace and quiet was interrupted by another lapping up water too. Luckily he wasn't too much in her space since it was a large enough watering hole, though the sound of someone else in her space was not entirely pleasant either.
Isuke'Boon made a non committal noise of acknowledgement and then flopped down under the shade of a small group of trees. The only shade that was to be had at the watering hole at that. Hopefully the male didn't want her to share her shade too. Even worse, maybe he'd want to talk her ear off like the bird earlier about the rhinos. He was in for a good swat if so. She bent her head down and began to wet her paw with her tongue, intending to give herself a bit of a bath.
Talking to the pebble wasn't seeming to do Kouki any good. In fact Kouki kind of felt like it was just kind of pathetic really. He certainly felt pathetic doing it. Maybe instead he should get up and find someone to talk to instead. The only problem was that Phrixus had headed to the watering hole. All the good meet and greets happened at watering holes where others were likely to gather and Phrixus wanted them to have time apart. That meant Kouki wasn't invited and thus finding other people to talk to was going to be difficult.
Heaving another sigh Kouki stood to his feet again batting at the pebble grumpily. Though he felt bad after since the pebble hadn't done anything to deserve being swatted at grumpily. Then he felt ridiculous again for being worried about the pebbles feelings. He shook his mane at himself and resolved to look up at the cloud for a bit for shapes, maybe that would entertain him for a little while Phrixus was gone.

Phrixus drank till he was satisfied then actually took a dip in the water. It was a hot day, and the water felt wonderful. Now if he could find some shade... Ah ha, that female was hoarding it.
"Move over." Shade hogger. There was clearly room for them both and she was right smack in the middle. Ridiculous. He didn't care that she got there first. If she wasn't in the mood to talk or fight or whatever, well then fine, but don't hog the only shade around.
If she didn't move her butt over he was going to snuggle up and get cosy, heat or no, as revenge. Either that or take good hard swipe with freshly sharpened claws. Gods forbid he attempt polite interactions.

Isuke'Boon had been enjoying the beginnings of her bath when suddenly the stupid male had the audacity to come over and demand she move. No please, no request, just demand. Just who did he think he was? There was no call for the way he had spoke to her, she'd done nothing to deserve his attitude. She paused mid lick and looked up at him slowly. A glare was clear on her face. She was not a lioness to take crap from some lone rogue male.
"Excuse me. Who exactly do you think you are?" Her voice came out strong echoing the warrior will that lay inside her. There was a lot she would like to say to him, he obviously needed someone to level him down from being so high and mighty. However she was thinking it would be better to do it by force then by words. That was how she preferred to do it anyway.
The clouds had managed to hold Kouki's interest a little bit. So far he'd seen several shapes up there. Shapes like the moon, and trees, and other animals, shapes he didn't even know existed. He made up names for some, little imaginary animals in the sky. His mind drifted off dreamily thinking of stories for his little animals.
Before long Kouki even had himself a little song. "Oh weaglepuss oh wealgepuss high up in the sky. You fly and soar oh so very hiiiigh. With your mighty wings...you'll fly over the moon and sing...." Kouki paused mid song. "No.... no... that doesn't sound right. Maybe.... with the moon on your wings, you'll howl and you'll sing. Yes, that's much better." He muttered to himself, eyes still fixed above him.

"Someone who wants a bit of shade. Now scoot." Phrixus was in no mood for manners. He had them, but gods forbid he use them. In a fit of pique he tossed himself down on the ground and squirmed into an almost snuggle in an attempt to push her further to one side.
Phrixus had a few advantages, but that didn't mean he was going to let his guard down around this femme fatale. He was large for a male (while she was large for a female, he was still bigger), he was an excellent and experienced fighter, and he didn't know that his brother was currently singing about ... weaglepuss-es?-i? He'd be too busy banging his head against a tree if he knew, and would be easily defeated.

It was totally unbelievable how this male was acting. No one had any honor anymore or any manners for that matter. On top of it he was getting her wet. She thought this was completely ridiculous. With an enraged noise she swatted at him. She kept it as a warning swat, claws in, but heavy. It was often that she got underestimated for being a female but she was much stronger then what what average, bigger too.
Phrixos thought he was the more determined, but Isuke'Boon would give him a run for his money. She had determination and stubbornness in spades and if this male was determined to further ruin her day, she was determined to ruin his.
Kouki snapped out of his pleasant little song about the weaglepusses and looked up over in the direction where Phrixos had gone. There had been an enraged noise coming from over there, female from the sound of it. Kouki felt his blood run cold and then hot, one sensation right after the other. What was Phrixos doing bothering a female. Had they not already caused enough females grief? Males too, but the females always seemed to take losing cubs the hardest.
Starting off in a dash, Kouki ran towards where the sound had been. He hoped he would get there in time to stop anything bad from happening. If Phrixos was bothering some female and her cubs then boy was Kouki going to let him have it.

ShinyObsessed Contrary to common decency, instead of ruining his day, the big female had just made it. A fight was cooking up and Phrixus smirked to himself. Just what he wanted. He took the heavy blow of her paw pretty calmly. "I knew you'd be strong." He all but purred. "Feel like taking some of that anger out in a productive manner?" It sounded like he was propositioning her, till the next words came out of his mouth. "I want some shade, you're hogging it, clearly there's only one way to resolve this. Fight me."

Isuke'Boon gave Phrixus her best indignant glare. "You're not even worth me bringing out my claws. You don't deserve to fight me." If he was so obviously seeking a fight, well then she just had to deny him the pleasure. Of course if he pushed her she'd have to teach him a lesson, but for now she continued to steadfastedly lay in her shade spot and endure the stinking we beast that was touching her.
Of course sometimes Isuke'Boon's determination came out as stubbornness and spite. This was one of those moments, and now that she knew he wanted to fight she was going to do everything she could to be a stick int he mud about it. As much as she loved fighting, her will to disappoint this male was greater. She lay there in what was rightfully her sunspot, glaring at him like she'd like to see the vultures picking at his bones. Her tail flicked back in forth in rage like a thing with a mind of its own. Her tail seemed to match her desire to annoy the male as it kept thumping him soundly on the back.
Kouki arrived on the scene, paws skidding in the dirt, all intent on being a hero. The scene before him showed a very angry, but determinedly stubborn looking female being half laid on be a very wet brother of his. Half laid on was of course and exaggeration, but that's how Kouki saw it, and he was sure the lioness did too.
"Phrixus...what are you doing to her?" He scolded him before turning with a softer look to the lioness. "I'm so sorry, is he bothering you?" This earned him a somewhat amused look at the lioness which he caught before giving Phrixus another look of disapproval. So it seemed they weren't fighting, but Phrixus was obviously being some kind of nuisance.

And cue the bleeding heart. Phrixus rolled his eyes at his brother, turned over so his paws were facing the female and gave her a shove over. "Getting some fricking shade." Any space he gained by shoving her he promptly claimed as his. "Not my fault she's being a possessive b***h. She should learn to share." And she was being stubborn about fighting. Oh well, maybe he'd eventually get his shade and nap anyway.

First Isuke'Boon was amused. It seemed that the annoyance's brother had come to save the day. As if she needed saving, but that amusement soon turned into another enraged noise as she was shoved. Her large size and determination to not be moved helped, and the shove was mostly ineffective except for maybe an inch or three. "I would have been more then willing to share if you weren't such a rude honorless worm. Also you smell of a warthog's dung."
She gave him a good shove back for good measure. This time she wasn't as careful with those oh so sharp claws of hers.
Kouki heaved a weary sigh. Obviously Phrixus was just being his typical boorish self. How was it that Kouki had managed to pick up some manners even in horror that their childhood was and all Phrixus had seemed to do was pick up how to be an utter a**. Kouki often found himself wondering this, and this situation was no exception.
"I've told him he needs more baths. He doesn't seem to want to listen to me usually though. I am sorry he's being rude and honorless though. Phrixus you should say sorry and ask her nicely to share her shade." He totally sympathized with the lioness. Though as she shoved Phrixus back it gave Kouki a little pause. She obviously wasn't a wilting flower, but still, Phrixus was probably the one making her act so unladylike.

Hey! He did not smell like warthog dung! So maybe he didn't smell like flowers like certain girly brothers, but he was a white lion, and everyone could tell. Which was certainly an improvement over white lions that everyone thought were brown, grey or ew ew ew yellow. He kept his coat clean (when he wasn't wet and wrestling for shade) and didn't he just take a dip in the water? Stupid Kouki kissing up to the stupid female. "Thanks Kouki, for reminding me why I needed a break." Boorish, was better then boring.
When the claws came out he let out a grunt of pain then glared at her hard. He'd abided by her wish not to fight, and now she'd brought out claws. Well. No more Mr. Only-Midly-Annoying-Lion. Letting out a low growl, Phrixus remained un-shoved and gave a good long swipe of his own claws down her shoulder. "Manners are a waste of time, especially with females who think they're the gods gift to the earth."

Oh this male was so unbelievable, he knew absolutely nothing about her. Just because she had pride of course meant she thought she was better then him to him. She gave a small yowl of pain as the blow was returned. "Oh naturally, just because a female has a little pride and isn't weak, bending the the males every whim she must think she's the gift from the gods. All I desire is to be treated with respect. If you give it to me, I give it in return. You act like a boar, I will be a b***h back to you."
Normally she was one for trading blows rather then words, but this male got under her skin, and she'd already resolved not to fight with him. He really wasn't worth her time, all he'd done was prove he was rude, ignorant, and a chauvinist pig. She turned her head to lick the spot where he had swiped and glared at him further. Still though she would not be moved.
Kouki watched Phrixus take a swipe at the female, letting the claws fly. He winced a bit in sympathy. The wound didn't look deep but it was large. This female was obviously as proud as she was beautiful, and Phrixus had stomped on her pride.
Of course she'd done the same back to Phrixus which meant they could be here for days if they both kept this stubbornness up. "Can't we all just... not fight? Agree to disagree, apologize, something? If you two keep this up you'll be fighting over the bit of shade once its long moved." He tried hopefully. He didn't think it would work though, he was likely to be ignored.

Phrixus was actually insulted. He'd picked up a lot of things from the lion that raised him, but chauvanism was not one of them. He had a healthy respect for females. One had to while running off with a cub, let a mommy catch you and you'd be deader then last week's antelope. "There's 'a little pride' and then there's being a total princess. Females are perfectly vicious. I don't know what weak females you've met." Hell he had an equal amount of scars from females as males. What a positively infuriating female. She's totally ruined his day. Man, and he thought Kouki rained on parades badly.
"Kouki, thanks ever so for supporting me." He turned to look at the female again, "Though he is correct, the shade will move before this argument is over. I find you entirely too stiff necked and prejudiced to stand one more moment. And as you have no interest in fighting, I cannot stand being this dusty and your presence anymore." He got up regally and ignoring the pain of where her claws had sunk in, Phrixus went to wash the dust off again. Kouki could suck up and purr at and pet that stupid bint as much as he liked.
As far as Phrixus was concerned, any female who thought so lowly of other females and immediately took offense (and didn't fight about it) wasn't worth his time.
