User ImageThe desert was hot, and for a creature with thick fur, build for a colder environment like the mountains and the snow, the desert was a very uncomfortable place to be in.
It was just a good thing that the nights in the desert were far cooler than they were during the day.
And that suited Absol just fine.

It had been a stressful couple of weeks, for Faleen and her entire team. not to mention busy, her team hadn't had much time to be able to go out at night to stretch their legs in a while.
It wasn't the ideal night for Umbreon, the new moon created a thick darkness that was difficult to see through, his darker colored comrad's rings haddn't had that bright of a glow on new moods. but the pure darkness was something they appreciated as well.

Wide paws carried the large white form of Faleen's Absol over the sand, taking this time to wander quite a distance from his master and his team mates.
His movements silent, blackened eyes open and alert, his wild instincts taking over as he stalked forward in search of some prey.
He passed over a dune, long legs drawing to a stop before he hunkered down low against the sand, the wind blowing through his thick main of fur, ears turned to listen for sounds in the complete stillness of the desert.

It was late. He should probably be in bed, but he felt too restless to sleep. It was stupid to be jaded over the failed relationship of two people he didn't actually care about, but there it was. The silent desert made him feel better, perhaps some pretentious whiny part of him thought its desolation was a reflection of his dark and empty soul. If there was a part of him that felt that was, however, he wasn't really aware of it; he was just enjoying the cool, the quiet, and the company of his Absol...

Who was now bounding away from him at high speed. "Well fine!" Aulus called indignantly. "Didn't want your company either!"

This was one of those rare occasions that Tortie decided not to listen to her trainer: something more important had just been carried to her on the wind. The scent of another Absol. The smell was hard to follow in the slightly chaotic night wind, but she was determined to find the source. She couldn't remember the last time she'd seen another Absol. Another gust of wind carried a more powerful waft of the other's scent, and the patched dark type picked her her pace, now confident that she was going the right way; she would find them before too long.

As Tortie dwindled into the distance, Aulus shielded his eyes from the sand and gave a heavy sigh. "Fine," he muttered as he began to trudge after her, "so much more a companionable walk."

Head moving slowly while his eyes scanned the aria. Though his stillness was jarred when he suddenly jerked his head around, to look out over the sand.
Silently his eyes narrowed softly, peering through the darkness, something was coming toward him.

"Ab" he growled softly to himself pushing back onto his feet and striding back. Whatever was coming, it must have picked up his scent from the wind.
Wild instinct kicking in, he wasn't about the be caught off guard, so he swiftly bound over the dune again. easily leaping with that Absol agility, and finding a more secure location to hunker down, where the wind could not so easily give away his location.
Hunkering down, any second now waiting to see what was coming to investigate.
But just as soon as he was considering that it might just be Umbreon retrieving him, then a much larger form than Umbreon came into his sights... it was darkly coloring though... mostly.

Absol's eyes widened though when he realized that it was another Absol.

As the scent grew ever stronger Tortoiseshell slowed first to a jog, and then to a walk; she didn't want to seem as though she was charging in for battle... Ah. And there he was. Tortie rumbled, coming to a halt and looking the pale-coated dark type over approvingly. It remained to be seen if he had any brain at all but at least he couldn't be accused of the crime of being dull to look at. Nice eyes. Dangerous. she added in a low purr. there were other smells on the wind, but none were as interesting as his. When was the last time she'd seen another Absol? She honestly couldn't recall.

A rather long way back Aulus stamped along cussing quietly to himself, trying to follow Tortie's pawprints. Stupid girl, what had got into her to dash off like that? When he caught up she was going to get an earful, that was for damn sure.

... A female.
Absol in general were rare enough as it was, even running into another one in the wild, but a female Absol...
In the wild, he knew of males who would journey most of their life to find a female, and a few never even found one.

Blinking a couple of times when she walked over, and spoke to him, his eyes glanced her over a couple of times, before he lowered his head, eyes not leaving her while he stalked forward, cautious... but curious at the same time.
Her coat was nothing he had ever seen before, that coloring wasn't native to the species, but he could see how in a wooded setting that would be perfect camouflage.
he replied, his tone was calm, but strong. lifting his head back up a little not taking his eyes off of her
his eyes broke away from her for a mere second as he glanced behind her, in the direction she had come.

Back toward where the HQ was, Umbreon stood alert next to Faleen, who was trudging slowly, arms crossed in front of her as she watched her Feet.
Umbreon however, had caught sigh of what looked like a form in the distance "Umbreon!" he barked at it, then looked up at Faleen.
He knew she would have a hard time seeing it in this lack of light, it was his duty to warn her.
"What?" she blinked at him, looking up at what Umbreon seemed to be interested in.

Tortie gave a deep rumbling chuckle and sat back on her haunches. she observed.

She still wasn't really sure what she thought of their move. It rankled to see her human cleaning up after lesser specimens, and being in one place day after day was a little boring compared to life spent out on the road. On the other paw, however, she was getting a lot more battles now, and her human seemed very fond of the place's exercise facilities. He had assured her that things would get better too; before long they were going to be more important, and other people would clean up after them. She liked the sound of that a great deal.

Tortie asked after a moment. If he didn't catch up soonish she'd call for him in any case; last thing she wanted was for him to be lost in this hot wasteland.

Stupid Tortie. Stupid sand. Stupid... stupidness. Muttering a string of curses under his breath to make himself feel better, Aulus trudged onward. At least the stupid Absol had been running at some speed, thus leaving deeper prints than she did at walking pace. Deeper tracks, however, were only a small comfort. For her sake Aulus hoped his companion's reason for running off like that were really, really good.

He blinked slowly as he stood and listened to her, one thing he did assume right away was that she wasn't an Absol from the wild, she definitely gave off the feel of being a human born Pokemon. that might explain the coat.
He listened to her though, every word, speaking again to answer her questions once she was finished explaining her short story of how she was here with him tonight.

He too sat as he spoke, lowering his head slightly as it inclined to the side a little as he watched the other Absol. He explained his reasons for being out so far into the desert.
He looked past her though, remembering when she said that her master might be coming, pushing back to his large paws as he trotted over and past her, standing tall as eyes narrowed softly to scan the desert. his hunt would be ruined if the humans came here....
He shifted his paws in the sand, turning his body back toward her, claws dragging in the sand as he stepped in front of her again.
It wasn't that often he had so much time and freedom, and he wasn't going to waist a second of it.
She was... interesting however, it had been a long time since he had been in the presence of another Absol, so he extended the invitation to her, unsure if human hatched Pokemon... knew how to hunt.

Faleen couldn't see through the darkness, but Umbreon was certainly alert to the fact that there was something in the desert.
The grunt frowned softly, waving a hand to Umbreon "Go, lead the way" she told him.
Considering current events... Faleen had certainly been much more cautious then she had in the past, if Umbreon noticed something outside of the HQ, while it could very well be another Rocket, Faleen wasn't going to take the chance.

The ringed Pokemon did as he was told, bounding forward in the sand, His dark form streaking along the sand until he was stopped in Aulus' path.
Ears perking up as red eyes quickly scanned over the form... seeing a red uniform. a Trainee. "Breeeon" he rumbled softly, before stepping out of the man's way once again.

Tortie purred, a slow smirk tugging her lips back to display sharp white teeth, attractive offer. I'm sure my human can manage without me for a little while.> The weren't so far from the towering building that he couldn't easily head back at any time after all, and given how he had just sprung this new life on her without bothering to consult her she felt she was owed a little fun. Tortie asked, getting to her paws and padding up beside the other Absol, just barely brushing her tail against his. She'd never been hunting with another of her kind before, this should be fun.

Still some way back from the pair of disaster pokemon, Aulus came to a halt as he spotted a dark shape rushing towards him. It certainly wasn't Tortie. He certainly hoped it wasn't wild and or aggressive... Hu, an Umbreon? It certainly wasn't acting like a wild pokemon, but he couldn't see a trainer nearby. Hu. "Any chance you've seen tri-coloured Absol about?" he asked, looking down at the dark type with a thoughtful frown. "She's gone and run off on me, daft thing." While he knew he wouldn't be able to understand any verbal answer the eeveeloution gave him, if it had spotted Tortie it might just lead him to her. Never knew your luck.

Absol blinked once when she accepted his invitation, quite easily to if he said so himself.
Well this was interesting, he hadn't hunted with another Absol in a long time, since when he was younger.
He watched her walk over toward him so they could get ready to go, blinking when he felt her tail brush against him, probably by accident, but the act caused his usual stoic face to smirk faintly.
"Alright" When she seemed ready and told him to lead the way, Absol crouched for a moment, then bounded forward.
He didn't hold back, knowing that unlike Umbreon and other pokemon, another Abosl would be able to keep up with him just fine.

Umbreon had glanced off into the desert in the direction his master was, though his attention was drawn back to the man when he was asked a Question.
Umbreon blinked for a moment, but he turned his head out further toward the Desert
"Umbreon!" he barked out toward, indicating he saw the beast heading that way. He was wondering who it had belonged to.

Faleen had gotten close enough in the darkness to hear a man's voice, he seemed to be talking to Umbreon.
"An Absol?"
She spoke through the night when she was close enough, drawn toward them by the dimly glowing rings on Umbreon's body.

As the male sprang away, Tortie grinned to herself and bounded after him. she replied as she settled into a comfortable rhythm,

Aulus pursed his lips, peering off in the direction the Umbreon indicated. What had got into Tortie to run off like that? He still couldn't even begin to guess.

When a woman's voice drifted to him on the night air, he was not entirely surprised; had to be the Umbreon's trainer. "Yea," he nodded to the blonde, "my Absol. Was just taking a walk with her when she dashed off; it's not like her to ditch me like that, so she must have had a good reason... What're you doing out so late anyway?" Maybe she'd come out looking for peace and solitude, as he had. Well, looked like neither of them were getting that at the moment; he needed to find Tortie, and if possible he was going to rope this woman and her Umbreon in to help him.

He glanced over at her briefly, intrigued that she had only ever hunted alone before.
He didn't so much have to live by that anymore, it was rather nice, but he still understood what it was like to be wild.
He stopped suddenly, landing hard in the sand, sliding a little before he lifted his head, puffing lightly at the air <... Smell that?> He asked, the scent of another pokemon wafting from upwind, He added once he was certain he recognized it.
Normally he didn't go for them since they were rather much to eat for just one, but with her here... he narrowed his eyes softly, a pleased rubble reverberating from his chest

Faleen didn't speak again until she had walked over, and was able to see the man, She look a moment to look him over, once confirmed that she saw he was indeed a Rocket Trainee.
"I see, I have an Absol out in the desert as well, Perhaps that has something to do with it?"

She glanced over the man again, tilting her head softly, He was new, clearly, she hadn't met him before, but she hadn't met many of the new Trainees either.
"I'm a dark trainer" she replied to his last question "I take them out at night after shift to let them get out for a while. I'm assuming you are out for similar reasons yourself?"

He shifted his head to glance over at her, his own lip curling just barely enough to show two teeth, in a subtle smile.
pleased by her comment, she seemed to be impressed(?) by it. Point for Absol.
When she said she had a wild heart, he turned back to the direction the Numel were at. he commented A hunger took over his eyes, as he stared off toward their soon to be feast.
It was also time to see what she was capable of, if a human bred Absol could really have a wild heart.

Keeping lower to the ground, Absol moved again, to get into position when they spotted the small herd of snoozing Numel, freckling the desert landscape.
He crouched down, eyes scanning for an ideal target, from here he spoke no words, made no sound, but his body language was prominent, head turning to indicate each of the prey below, as if inquiring her opinion.

"Grunt Faleen" she introduced when it was prompted, reaching a hand out to him in polite greeting.
"Welcome to the Kodo HQ Aulus. I have to admit, its nice to see other Absol owners."
Her demeanor was calm, collected, and dignified. She greeted the man politely, but there was a distance about her toward Aulus, as if feeling him out first.
She had met several trainees in the past, and she did enjoy meeting them, they were new to the world of Rocket, many of them had great potential. She was curious to see if this man had any as well. Rocket needed more skilled and good people.

Oooh, was he baiting her? Well, there was no need for that, she had planned to give it her all anyway... Still, now she was going to make really sure she pulled her weight. Pampered indeed; she'd castrated males for less, but as he was one of her own kind she was prepared to cut him a little slack. A little. If he came out with anything else of the sort, one portion of his anatomy or other would become very intimately acquainted with her teeth...

Ahhh. Yessss. Hunkering down beside her companion, Tortie slunk forwards until she had the Numel. Grinning and licking her chops, the patched Absol inclined her head slightly to a pair that had settled a short distance away from the bulk of the herd; picking off one of them would be a lot easier than trying to separate one out from the big group.

"Hu," Aulus reached out to clasp Faleen's hand firmly, "thanks. I can't say it's quite what I expected so far, but I'm not planning to stay a floor-mopping trainee for for... And it is," he nodded slightly, "don't think I've talked properly to anyone else with an Absol since I got her pretty much, and she was an egg at the time. Battled with a couple, seen a couple around, but not talked to; amazing pokemon they are... So, a dark specialist? Do you have any besides the Absol and the Umbreon?" He wasn't much good at acting interested in humans, but he was always happy to hear about their pokemon. Given that firstly she outranked him, and secondly that she was being perfectly polite at the moment, he felt it was for the best to be as decent to her as he could manage. Last thing he needed was another enemy.

She seemed to have zeroed in on a target, and Absol wasn't going to disagree, it was a good target, they just needed to set up the attack,
Keeping low, Absol branched off from her, stalking silently as he made his was around the dunes. looking to flank it, or try and drive the creature into where she was waiting when he pounced.

He had a strong handshake, she noted. not that it was a bad thing at all, she knew a lot of trainees felt pretty intimidated.
No him though.
At the comment about floor mopping the grunt's lips pulled into a knowing smile. "Ah, yes, well, we've all been there"
though it was very difficult imagining Elite Seth... mopping floors. "it doesn't stay like that" ohhh no it didn't eventually, one he's a grunt, he'll get a life of hard training, pokemon stealing, and getting shot at.

She listened when he was talking about his Absol, he had raised her.
"They don't seem to come around very often, she agreed, shaking her head, she had seen one Absol one time before, but she hadn't seen the grunt who owned it in a while.
"Besides those two I have my Sharpedo, and a new pokemon from that Unova region, Zorua"
that had been a complete and lucky surprise that she ended up with her.
shifting her stance, to level her weight over one of her boots, she folded her arms as she talked to him
Umbreon standing next to her, watching the man as the humans talked. "Bo you have any others besides your Absol?"
