Writing a battle system for a RP forum is a difficult task that involves a careful balance between brevity, simplicity and customization. This system can be picked up in a matter of minutes and manipulated to provide for any situation.
However, due to the scope and nature of battle, and for the sake of brevity, you will find that this page- though comprehensive of the system, is not all encompassing. There are many situations I will only touch on or even purposefully avoid addressing (grappling underwater, movement, certain status effects, etc) because to do so would be to write a book, and bore all of you to tears.
So this system, which I've named
DX Simple, requires three things from you.1. The understanding that while your characters might exist as enemies, you and the other players will leave as friends.
2. Recognition of the fact that sometimes it is more fun to lose than it is to win, and that the only way you could ever possibly lose here is by being a bad sport or not having fun.
3. Cooperation in creating your own rules that govern the world around you, because it is ever changing, and there has never been a system that covered it all.I will do my best to provide a strong frame work and examples to build off of, but the fact is there will be many situations where you and the players can and are encouraged to come up with rules for an encounter there you feel additional checks should be made. If you can not come to an agreement, have any questions or are even curious about how to go about something, feel free to PM me. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

This fighting system is heavily rp based. If your opponent leaps off into a stream to be carried off and your character cannot catch up to him, you obviously can't do a melee attack unless you leap in after him. The mule can stand in as a judge if god modding or overplaying your abilities becomes a problem.

One fight at a time. You cannot be in two places at once. If the player you've engaged in battle with has not responded in 14 days, their character has essentially 'fled into the woods' and forfeited.
- Do not attack without warning the character's player, and if they do not wish to fight then leave them be.
Unless they have ventured outside their own clan area and are causing trouble, in which case the character is now free game, it would be good etiquette to warn the player never the less.
- Once you have engaged in a fight you cannot 'undo'. If the other player agrees something can happen and interrupt the fight or it could come to a peaceful resolution.
- Killing another character requires consent from their player.
- You regain 1hp and 1mp per day naturally unless you are currently involved in a battle in which health is suspended until it concludes.
