Because he rocks.
Name: Richard Stephen Sambora Birthday: July 11, 1959 Birthplace: Perth Amboy, New Jersey

Richie Sambora was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and raised in Woodbridge. He got his first guitar in 1971 when he was twelve years old, and started playing in bands three years later. A diversified music listener, Sambora comes from a background of Beatles, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Led Zeppelin, "a lot of blues stuff", and his range of listening goes from Peter Gabriel to Metal Church to Tchaikovsky.
Sambora was given the opportunity to explore all of his musical avenues when he was afforded the making of his solo record, Stranger In This Town. "Mr. Bluesman", a single on the album, was inspired by Clapton, and Clapton was agreed to play lead guitar on the track, fulfilling a dream for Sambora.
Sambora has also written and/or produced songs for Alice Cooper, Desmond Child and others. Richie has the title track "Guitar Man" on Les Paul's album, an unsurpassable honor for a guitarist and Skid Row, a mutual project of Sambora and Bon Jovi, sold 4 million records.
Richie Sambora divides his time between Los Angeles and New Jersey with his daughter Ava Elizabeth.

Random Quotes:
"That got me thinking. Bon Jovi kills in Jersey. Just kills. We did Atlantic City this past winter and man, you wouldn't believe the intensity in that crowd. Can I just talk for a minute about how amazingly hot Heather is?"
"Guy can't get a job at the refinery, or guy hates his job at the factory, or guy lost his job at the refinery or the factory. Then he gets in his car and drives around. It's all so tongue-in-cheek, ya know? Most of New Jersey doesn't even have refineries. What is a refinery, anyway?"
"I'm talking about giving the people what they want. It's just like, you know, I don't wake up with perfect hair. It takes a certain creativity to get it right. Sometimes that's me, sometimes that's Miguel, my stupendous stylist."
"I want the people of New Jersey to jump off a cliff like Kurt Vonnegut so I can show them how to fly. This way, nobody needs to grow any wings, which would be impossible anyway because we're humans and not some kind of bird."
"Bon Jovi's singing about Tommy, who used to work at the docks. Now that's real life stuff, my man. New Jersey has an entire Eastern border that's pure coastline. There's gonna be a dock or two when you've got a geographical setup like that. I'm just tired of the Springsteen obsession people seem to have."
"I know what you're probably thinking. Hey, this guy's got everything a man could possibly want out of life. Money, fame, a frigging unbelievably hot wife, Jon Bon Jovi as a friend... but you know, I want more."
"Maybe Jon has got a nice a**, but it's the front that counts!"
"So one misconception about me... Aaah, you know I have a small p***s. No humm, that's a BIG misconception"
"We're a part of the fabric of people's lives at this point. As songwriters, but also as a band, we can stand up there and sing songs that (people remember) listening to the first time (they) made out in the car with somebody. It's a big privilege for us. When we walk out there and sing those songs, you see what's in the eyes of those people. We're singing about everybody."
"God, it feels as if we're as big as we've ever been."
"We're a band of brothers. I think that people want to see people stay together. They want to be entertained by people that are staying together, and people that have camaraderie. We still like each other. That's pretty unbelievable after 22 years"
"We've had those elements, and now it's just kind of catching up to us. So it's a nice thing. And I love country music; I got to tell you, I watch CMT all the time. I'm a big country music fan now. I got into it over the last couple years."
"After you come see this band live, you're going to be converted."
"I think anything that we can do to give back and help out in any way we can ... I think its a great thing."
"About two weeks before I left (to promote the new album), God just hit the creative gas pedal on me and I wrote like 14 new songs, ... So I have an album sitting in my pocket."

10 Things You Need to Know about Men According to Richie Sambora
Bon Jovi's star guitarist tells all -- about sex, romance and why letting him know his tie doesn't match is a good thing.
-Men know what women want. But if we gave it to you all the time, then you'd want something else and we'd be screwed. We know you want us to be sensitive and romantic and sweet. We can do that. But we want to keep you guessing. If you had sex and diamonds every day, pretty soon you'd be sick of sex and diamonds -- and then where would we be?
-We actually like to be romantic. Believe it or not, we like to cuddle and kiss as much as you do. We just need the occasional nudge. Preferably, the nudge won't come while we're watching football or The Sopranos. And, when you want us to be romantic, remember: There's no such thing as a bad G-string.
-We know you call and hang up. But it's cool. Being checked up on is kind of flattering.
-If you say, "call me," we won't -- at least not for a few days. It doesn't mean we don't like you; it's just our way of playing hard to get. We like to take our time -- you know, whet the whistle. Of course, I've always enjoyed it when women have called me. I like the aggressive type, and so do most of my friends.
-We do masturbate -- almost as much as you do.
-We want to make you feel good, both physically and emotionally, but you have to tell us what to do. Men aren't the most perceptive creatures in the world, but if you tell us exactly where to touch you, believe me, we'll remember. It's to our advantage!
-We wouldn't care what we look like if you didn't care what we look like. Men are messy, and we'd be a lot messier if it weren't for women. If it were up to us, we wouldn't shower or brush our hair.
-We want you to be our mothers. Men stay little boys all through our lives. We want to be hugged and cooked for, and we honestly don't mind when you remind us about stuff like dentist appointments -- it makes us feel taken care of. But there's a fine line between nurturing and nagging. No guy wants his woman following him around the house yelling, "Pick up your socks!"
-We don't mind it when you dress us. When it comes to clothes, most men are clueless. We'd actually rather you tell us what to wear. Of course, if it's Sunday and we're sprawled out on the couch in sweats, we don't want to hear what you think of it. But if we're going out, we love the idea that you want to show us off. I always check with my wife [actress Heather Locklear] before I leave the house.
-We're terrified you'll break our hearts. All men are afraid of getting too close, too fast. So, if we seem standoffish, it's not because we don't like you. It's because we don't want to get hurt. We're afraid of getting our hearts broken -- just like you.

Richie and Heather are getting a divorce! *sniff*
At least, that's what everyone's been saying. It's tragic, but at least now I don't feel so ferkin' dirty about undressing him with my eyes. ;O

You can't believe the stuff you here in the tabloids. Richie has said many times that he and Heather are fine. He's just on tour a lot, and so whenever Heather goes out alone the tabloids start printing s**t. I'm not going to believe it until I hear it from someone who's actually affiliated with Richie or Bon Jovi.
Glad you liked the article. Made me laugh so hard I think I fell out of my chair. xd
