Tichaona decided to check up on Kifelwe and to see how she was doing- and if she was with child. If not, then he hoped that she was alone so he could try and change that about her. His icy blue eyes looked for her in the lessening sunlight. He had asked a pride member and discovered that she was supposed to be near one of the small watering holes that dotted the territory. He decided to take a more stealthy approach in case she was with Mweyne.
Mweyne. His eyes narrowed at the thought of that wretched male. He slunk behind the bushes and looked for his consort.

Nkemdilim was unaware of Tichaona's advancing presence. She had not been called by either Tichaona or Mwenye that day and figured she finally had some time to herself. Her behavior in the presence of her Kings and the pride differed greatly than what she was normally like alone. With her youth having been robbed from her, Nkemdilim spent most of her alone hours doing things cubs would do. Currently, she was indulging in a dirt bath.
The feel of the dirt by the watering hole was incredible. It was the perfect mixture between wet and dry, which only existed in her dreams most days. Usually she'd find a patch that was simply too moist, or simply too dry. She'd either have to shake herself free of dust or take a dip in the water to clean mud from her coat. Either way, she was currently enjoying the much needed alone time.
"Dirt, dirt, dirty dirt," Nkemdilim allowed herself to muse openly. When she was in a good mood or in a truly contented place, Nkemdilim like to hum to herself. It reminded her of the times before she was Tichaona and Mwenye's consort.

Tichaona furrowed his brows at this strange display. Should he interrupt her? Should he keep watching to see what else she would do? He'd never seen this side of Kifelwe before. He was partially indignant. How dare she hide anything from him!? He scowled at her now and inched closer, though he still remained hidden.
And why would she dirty her nice coat like that? He scoffed quietly and was disappointed. She'd have to spend the rest of the day being cleaned and groomed by herself or other lionesses. What a shame. He shook his head but chose not to reveal himself- just yet.

Once Nkemdilim was satisfied with the dirt bath she had indulged in she laid there, stretching her arms and her legs from top to bottom, including her paws. It felt so nice to relax and be by herself for once. She let out a loud, contented sigh and laid there with the sun beaming down onto her back. Nothing could go wrong at the moment, no one could interrupt her and take away her contended and happy mood.
"Happiness is a warm spot in the dirt," She murmured to herself pleasantly, unaware of Tichaona's eyes upon her.
If she had known he was watching her, he'd never see half of what she had been doing. These were pieces of her that were only hers and she wanted to remain only hers. There were things in this world he could not possess and it pleased her endlessly that he didn't know of any of this.

Tichaona straightened himself up and groomed a loose hair or two and he cleared his throat, emerging from the brush as though he hadn't seen her childish display of dirtying herself.
"Ah, Kifelwe. I didn't expect to run across you here. How are you today?" He gave her one of his fake smiles and a pleasant greeting. He sat down a little ways away from her, out of the dirt.
He tilted his head and feigned curiosity- as though he didn't know what she was up to "What are you doing here, hmm?"

Nkemdilim froze again. He had snuck up on her and caught her off guard once more. She hated every time he did so. Her heart was beating so swiftly in her chest she was frightened that it would not calm itself. She opened her eye's slowly, trying not to convey the surprise that took over her body, but even if she had been successful, her fur had already betrayed her. It stood up on end, conveying how he had startled her so.
"K-king Tichaona," She said, her words faltering as she scuttled onto her feet to give him a proper bow. Internally she was startled, but she was also angered. So angered. All she wanted was time to herself and he would not even give her that. Eventually he would hump her in half, she was sure of it.
"I am fine, my King. I was enjoying my time alone..." She said carefully.

Tichaona tutted and shook his head and reached over to groom his consort. "My, my," he said, ignoring her pointed remark about her alone time. All of her time could be his if he so chose.
"Just how did you get so dirty? What a shame, you usually look so nice." He wasn't that gentle or careful with his grooming or his words. He was trying to make a point and tell her without being that blunt that she had to clean herself up. It was embarrassing to him to have his consort looking like she presently did. It was bad for anyone in his pride to look so haggard and unhealthy the way that she did covered in mud. But she was the one that he'd picked to bear his heirs. What a shame indeed.

Internally she wanted to scream at him. How could she find herself attracted to him like she did? Her body and heart betrayed her mind and the truth of her situation. She should hate him, with every ounce of her being, hate him... but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She sighed, making an unpleasant face as he attempted to half-heartily groom her. She wasn't sure he had groomed anything before in his existence, including himself.
"I had an itch," Nkemdilim said, lying in hopes that he hadn't seen her childish display. "The trees did not satiate it, so I turned to the dirty and pebbles on the ground."
She would play dumb for the moment and act as if she did not hear the criticism in his voice. Her appearance irritated him and it felt like this small win was the biggest thing in the world to her. Nkemdilim allowed herself to wiggle a bit, a small dust cloud erupting from her head.

Tichaona nodded. "Aaah, I see. Why didn't you just ask me to help, hmm?"
So she was lying to him? Mmm, that did not bode well for her in the future, that is, if she lied about anything of more consequence. He continued raking his claws through her fur to loosen any clods or tangles. He would continue doing this until she seemed a little bit cleaner. But that would take far too long. He sighed and walked into the water.
"Follow me, Kifelwe. We simply must clean you up. You're absolutely filthy. It's horrid." So he was being a little bit mean now, he was trying to deflate her after he had lied to her.

"I could not dream of bothering you with my troubles," Nkemdilim replied, grimacing as she felt Tichaona's claws go through her fur in attempts to get rid of the clods of dirt. It was so uncomfortable, and he was doing it all wrong. She wanted to squirm away now before he ripped her skin to shreds.
Thankfully, he had decided to spare her his horrible clawing some and kindly ordered her to follow him into the water to get her clean. She sighed heavily to herself and her eyes went sad. She had liked the feeling of the dirt in her coat, and now he was taking that away from her too.
"Yes my King. Anything you wish, my King," She said, her voices sullen and monotone.
She would follow his orders and only pray that soon cubs would come and he would ignore her and give her some freedom soon.
