Baridi'ini was something of a bored house cat recently, she was feeling cooped up with no where to go and nothing to do. She hunted for the pride, and waited; her life in a state of doldrums. She was waiting for her children to return home, although they had not started their naming quests too long ago, and waiting for her mate to return..he was another matter entirely.

The cream colored lioness was carrying two hare in her teeth, happy to be bringing a snack to her sister and sister's family. They swung from side to side as she trotted, Baridi was thinking how it would it felt very nice to be useful, even just doing small things.

Arufu was the opposite of Baridi'ini. He was just being, well, lazy. He had just finished his daily mudbath, and the mud on his back was starting to harden and crack. It'd stay on for a while longer, but at least then his pale cream coat wouldn't stick out so much. If only hiding his soft lavender mane was as easy as his coat. Ugh. He wanted to just find a nice place to nap and be left alone for a while.

He had little motivation in his life right now.

He glanced upwards, noticing that a lioness had two hares. Interesting. She must have found a nice dryer patch to catch them, as he didn't see hares too often. He swung around in her direction, curiosity leading him. Maybe it would be a nice place to sunbathe sometime!

Baridi did not regularly startle easily, not since the days quite some time ago when there was murder in the swamp lands, then again at the time everyone was jumpy. But on this day, she sure did startle, she had noticed the mud covered lion out of the corner of her and and for a very brief moment she was certain that he was a swamp monster.

The cream colored lioness had to stop, her heart was pounding in her chest as she watched him approach her. Dropping her catch gingerly to the ground she laughed. "I didn't notice you at first, I scared myself." She laughed again.

Arufu's eyes widened when he had realized what he had done. "Oh, I'm sorry about that," he said as he glanced around at his limbs. They were slowly shedding off their muddy layer, but his back and the lower parts of his mane were still quite caked.

He shook himself, but it didn't do much. He'd have to wait until it was completely dry before rubbing it off on a tree. "At least I didn't make you completely lose your meal?" he said as he glanced down at the hares. "Good hunting, I assume. I don't see hares often." Some parts of the pride were a bit too...wet. And that's where Arufu usually was. Swamp lion through and through.

"S'quite alright, just for a moment I lost my head," she laughed again and nodded reassuringly.

"Great hunting, I think there must be a small warren in that direction," Baridi waved a paw motioning to the area she'd come from, "sort of a dry clearing with trees. You don't see many hares around here, not like where I'm originally from, they're pretty abundant in the Pride Lands." The hares in the swamps behaved the same, but they tasted a lot different, their meals consisted of different grasses and reeds - the circle of life.

"I'm Baridi'ini, I don't think we've ever been properly introduced."

He couldn't help himself, and he glanced to where she had motioned. He couldn't see much of the spot right here, of course, but he was taking metal notes to check it out the next time he could get over there. No point in bring rude and leaving her now. Not when she was introducing herself.

"I'm not the type to introduce myself, sorry about that." He offered her a bit of a bow. "I'm Arufu-machwa. Ahh.." he gestured to himself with one slightly muddy forepaw. "And I love mud, if you couldn't tell." He laughed.

"Its nice to meet you, Baridi'ini. Bringing food home?" He was intrigued about the hare. It reminded him of his naming quest when he was younger. He was going to have to go over there not only to see what it is like, but to get a taste of memories as well.

"I had no idea," she laughed along with him. Living in the swamps it was hard not to become covered in mud, but something told Baridi that the amount of mud he had on him was purely intentional.

"It's a pleasure, Arufu-machwa," she nodded, "Bringing home a treat to my nieces and nephews. I know Bato and Thelo love frogs, but I thought sharing something different would spice up the day."

Anything to break the monotony of waiting, waiting.

Oooh. Arufu shivered. "Well. I can say that frogs have never been... appetizing to me. I supposed if I came across any I know where to deliver them now!" He swished his tail as he...sort of thought about what he had said without thinking. Ah well, it was the truth! No use in wasting a frog....yuck.

"Changing things up would be good for them! I know it can get a bit boring doing the same thing every day. Thanks for sharing the tip about the hares. Hopefully they'll still be around so I can snag one in the new few days or so." It was tedious always going out of the swamp to find something to eat, but he just couldn't get used to frogs. Too slimy for him.

Hunting frogs was one of her favorite past times, it was something that in her childhood would have been joked about - like a dare to eat one rather than eating them as a delicacy.

"I was under the impression that all Jini-msemi ate frogs, you learn something new every day," she laughed, "I like them more for the sport, not necessarily for taste."

"I hope they're still there too, I wish you happy hunting." She was thinking it was time to move on, not much to say or do. And her excitement at sharing the hares with the little ones was a driving force.

"Euck, not me. I guess I'll know just who to share them with, though, which is nice." He didn't go out of his way to bother his family about what they liked to eat. Tastes could changed after seeing what life was like outside of the swamp. Maybe they didn't like frogs anymore either?

"Yes. Perhaps we'll meet up some time and go for bigger game." He sure loved the larger preybeasts, but they were such a pain to bring back into the swamp. Heavy carcass mixed with soft mud just...wasn't fun, especially when working alone.

"I'm sure that they'll enjoy your treat!"

"Perhaps," she agreed, it would be nice to have someone to hunt larger game with, her mate did help with bringing down game, but he wasn't around, and she wasn't sure if he was going to be any time soon.

"I guess I'll see you around," Baridi said her goodbyes, "I can't wait to see their faces." She added in at the end before picking up the hares and giving him another short nod. The ecstatic aunt wanted to do very right by her sister's children.
