Ah, the perfect day. Birds were singing, a light breeze danced through the trees, and the perfect amount of clouds filled the sky. Gorgeous. The area was quiet for the most part, minus the sounds of nature: the trickling of water, leaves chattering with the wind, and if one listened closely the sound of the grass blades bumping into each other as they danced could be heard.
BORING!!! Anatola smiled as she raced through the field, her hooves pounding against the hard ground as she veered off towards the sound of the water. Her braided tail flew wildly with the wind she was creating with her body. She interrupted the peaceful sounds with her laughter, as though she were still a young filly. Panting softly, she slowed down when she reached the quiet creek and lowered her head to take a sip of the cool water.

The large stallion was doing something different today. He took his mask off for once and it really was something to see. He wasn't being his normal angry self. He was being sweet. He was being nice. He was being considerate towards life. This always happened when he didn't wear his mask. When he actually shown his true look instead of hiding it behind some old decrepit bone skull. It wasn’t something he was use to and he only took off his mask when he needed to clean his face. After all it was a b***h to get back on and it took a lot of patience.
Flicking his long mane over his shoulder he nosed the mask over to the base of a tree. He smiled very slightly at it before going over to the small lake. He shoved his face into the water before lifting it out. He shook his head around getting off all the excess water before sighing lightly. He didn’t like seeing this side of him. It wasn’t something he liked others to see.

Out of the corner of her eye, Anatola could see a large white, blue, and black figure. Her blue-grey eyes followed his movements and as he set something down, her mischievous instinct told her to scope out the area and figure out what it was that he allowed to lay, unguarded, in the grass.
The little mare danced over to the base of the tree and used her muzzle to tip over the skull. Would he notice it went missing if she happened to sneak off with it. With a certain gleam in her eye, that of which only bandits seemed to posses, she snatched up the skull and placed it over her face. It was too big for her, but Anatola didn't care. The skull was simply a pawn in her little game she would play with the large stallion.

Gabriel finished was he was doing before turning around to recollect his mask only to find it over the face of a mare. A mare that seemed to either want to steal it or play around. This was not something he liked because it took him most of his childhood to find a skull that perfect for him.
“What are you doing miss?”
He asked her in a light slightly gentle tone of voice as he began to walk closer. His glare deepening on her smaller form and his anger rising so much that he felt like it would just explode out of him.
“Don’t you know not to touch other people’s things…it could get you hurt.”
He told her growling lowly as he continued to advance closer towards her.

Anatola stood tall as the stallion noticed that his precious little mask was missing. Her blue-grey eyes focused on the stallion as a smirk tugged at the corners of her mouth. She peered at him from under her bangs, like a foal would when trying to avoid the anger of his or her parents.
"Well I found this interesting looking skull here and I thought I would try it on."
She was afraid of no one, considering her father was a kalona or at least part. This male was no different. He was simply a unicorn. Hear ears flicked as the skull slowly began to slide off her face and she flicked her head so it would stay up.
"It appeared to be missing an owner. Who in their right mind would leave such a precious item out in the open to be found?"
As he growled at her, she almost wanted to laugh, but bit the inside of her cheek to avoid doing so.

Gabriel listened to her closely as he snapped his jaws a little bit by her irritating comment. So she was acting like a thief. Scum that he would crush with his hoof just to get his valuable treasure back. He didn’t want to hurt the pretty mare, but if it was for that of his lantern necklace then he would.
“I didn’t leave it anywhere…I was simply taking it off so that my face could get a rest from carrying that heavy thing around on it. So I suppose you want this item don’t you…thief?”
He growled at her as he walked closer to her. She didn’t seem scared and that didn’t bother him any because if she was scared she would be acting skittish waiting for him to attack. Since she lacked fear this would make an abrupt attack more efficient for him.

The small mare noted the snap of the male's jaws and she couldn't help but smile ever so slightly. She had no intention of keeping this dreadful skull. It was no treasure to her. Skulls were easy to find. Her eyes suddenly lowered on the lantern necklace he sported. If only she could get to that...
"Perhaps next time you plan to give your face a rest, you might hide the mask a littler better. I don't want this item, no, but the item around your neck looks very promising."
She watched his movements closely. Although she wasn't afraid, she was no fool, either. As he stepped forward, she stepped to the side, just out of his reach. "Perhaps a stallion such as yourself she relax some. You seem too uptight." Anatola said with a playful smile. He was too much on edge for her to joke around with.

Gabriel snorted watching her more as he stopped slightly before her and lowered his head slightly. Annoying and stubborn this mare was. He found more mare’s annoying unless they got on his good side.
“Heh…then I am glad you don’t want my mask. It’s the only thing I can use to hide the beast within myself.”
He glared at her words feeling his anger boil once more.
“This lantern around my neck is very special to me. It’s an heirloom from my father who is now dead. If you ever did succeed in taking it…I would find you. Trust me on those words.”
He said to her before raising his brow about being too uptight. He was uptight and that was his nature. He was never able to ‘have fun’ or play around. Even as a foal he was brought up in a strict ‘fight or die’ family.
“I…don’t know how to relax. It’s not in my nature.”
He said to her looking away a bit.

As he lowered his head, she let her eyes lower along with him. At the moment, he was simply another stallion she happened to run into along her path to find the perfect treasure. These items he wore were not the perfect treasure. Pity.
"Now why would you want to hide that? It sounds rather interesting to see from a distance."
Of course, she would never want to see this beast up close at any point in her life. Her father was enough trouble.
"I'm sure you would find me if I stole anything of yours, which is why I have decided not to take off with this mask you sport so well."
The mare's words were almost hollow sounding as she nodded her head then lifted a brow when he said he didn't understand how to relax. Slowly, her head tilted as she eyed the stallion slowly. This was new to her. Most uptight individuals had a sob story behind their lack of trust for others. This stallion simply didn't understand it.
"You should make it your nature. Not relaxing is terrible for your health. Aren't unicorns and kirin supposed to be the more relaxed and kinder souls?"
She lifted a brow as she pondered about her encounters.

“It’s my nature. The skull ad the lantern are pretty much heirlooms from my family. My cousin holds the real treasure, but it’s something that can’t be stolen. It’s more of an eperience..”
He told her in a more calm voice then he had used the whole entire time.
“Good you have made a wise choice there.”
He snorted at her before eyeing the mask more wondering if he should just take it from her.
“Heh…so just because I’m those two breeds means I should fit into that stereotypical way? Yes we usually are, but it depends on how you are raised. I was raised in an environment where the next fight you take could very well be your last. So it’s possible for a breed who is suppose to be gentle to be angry and mean.”
He nodded to her looked around a bit. Yes, he was different from other uni’s and kirins, but he never really fit with that group anyway. If anything he was more inclined to fit in with kalona.
“What is your heritage? You share qualities kalona have…”

"If it can't be stolen, then it is of no interest to me. He can rest assured I will not be visiting him anytime soon," she said softly as she slowly nodded her head. It seemed the previous tension building between the two of them was starting to break down. At least this male didn't hold a grudge like most others she had met.
"Well I am not an idiot like some others out there." As the mask began to slide once again, she lowered her head and let it slide onto the soft grass. "You seem itching to get that back on."
She nodded her head and listened closely to the extremely short summary of his past. Lucky for her, she never had to worry about losing her life, unless she upset her siblings or parents. "Which means that a breed aimed to be dark and feared can be gentle and kind."
Like him, she did not fit into the two groups she was supposed to fit into. She did not fit into her family well. Although she looked normal, she was the outcast of her family. It was something she didn't like to think much about, so when he asked about her family, she answered simply.
"My mother is part harpy and my father is part kalona." She shook her head slowly. "I am nothing like my family."

“Ah so instead of seeking knowledge you seek treasure? Well that is sad…knowledge if far more valuable then some trinket you can pawn. I thought you would know this, but I guess my assumptions were wrong.”
He said to her shaking his head a little bit. He didn’t look the type to want knowledge, but he craved it because it kept his mind at ease. He only got better through learning and it was something he could handle.
“I am because it’s like I’m missing a part of me…in a way.”
He nodded before leaning down and sliding the skull back over his face. He moved it around a little bit until it was finally firmly situated over his face.
“Yes they can..I know of a kalona who isn’t horribly mean, but she isn’t terribly sweet. She doesn’t attack others and prefers to eat rabbits and other…fluffy things.”
He grimaced remembering the mare loved putting her face in his long mane because it was ‘fluffy’.
“Ah so you’re the spawn of a harpy..You are right though…you don’t act like either, but you share qualities from them both. But at least they aren’t distinctive qualities.”
He nodded to her as he flicked his tail behind himself.
“I am not fond of the harpy ways. I prefer ones that aren’t in the flock over those that are.”

"Knowledge is useless if you can't obtain it. In order to obtain the most valuable of knowledge the keeper usually wants something in return. That is where my little trinkets come in handy," the mare's voice was soft and a matter-of-fact as she responded to his question. She knew most individuals did not like her mischievous ways, but she couldn't stop herself. It was a sort of high when she was taking something with ease.
"The mask is a part of you. You sound a little insane, you know?" She nodded her head as she smiled at him. Her blue-grey eyes followed the stallion's movements as he adjusted the mask to fit his face perfectly. "Are there many others that where this mask?"
"If she likes fluffy things, would she enjoy the taste of a fluffy soquili?" Anatola was simply thinking aloud. It wasn't necessarily a question for the stallion in front of her. She didn't seemed to notice his grimace since she was so caught up in her thoughts.
Her ears flicked towards him suddenly as he spoke about her and her parents. "My siblings carry their qualities more distinctively than I do, I suppose." Quickly, her ears flicked back towards her skull as she thought of her sister. Anatola then glanced up at the stallion as she shook her head, "My mother is not apart of that horrible flock."

“That isn’t always the case. Not everyone wants something. I will say that most do, but not everyone. Ah so that is why you steal then? To obtain something you much give something to them. So I’m assuming you don’t use your strength as a means to get what you want?”
He shook his head and he had to admit it was very interesting, but he never gave something away to obtain something else. He found it to be pointless when one can use their size or strength to get anything they wanted.
“A little insane? I was never told that before. I know I’m not all there, but I know I’m not insane. Others that wear a mask like this…? Well there are some that have coverings over their face. I would never call them masks mainly because they have a different reason for wearing it. My family wears masks and it’s more of a spiritual reasoning. We are one with the spirits and the spirits follow us. Each skull represents an animal spirit that we have picked and used as our guide. The only ones in my family who don’t need one are my cousins Adalyn and Hania Shen. They share the same mask because they are twins, but both share a rare ability to see and speak with the dead.”
He told her with a firm nod before looking away from her.
“She might. She was a mutant kalona after all so you never know what she might enjoy.”
He shrugged.
“I see and that is good. I respect her more knowing she isn’t part of that terrible flock that should be completely purged.”
He snorted.

"I have never met another soquili willing to simply give something away, especially if it is important. I steal because I need to. It is not my choice." At his question, she stifled a giggle and shook her head. "Have you seen my size? And my strength? Both are pretty pathetic." It seemed the two could agree on not agreeing in this moment. At least he wasn't stubborn like her siblings.
As she listened to his story about his family and being able to talk to spirits and ghosts, she couldn't help but smile. It was fascinating, but if one did not believe in such things, he would be considered insane. How he avoided being called mad she couldn't help but wonder.
"Everyone has something that makes them a little off, but you are far off your rocker, as some would say. It isn't bad, it makes you unique. So you see spirits... Are there some around here right now?" Now that he peeked her interest, there was no way of escaping. This poor, poor stallion.
"My mother is too stubborn to be in such a thing, I believe." Although she didn't know her family very well, Anatola was sure her mother didn't join the flock out of pure stubbornness. It was a nice idea of having he mares rule, but being in part of a huge cult did not sound appealing to the young mare.
