Her paws touched the earth softly, and silent. She was rather good at keeping herself as quiet as a mouse. She prided herself on her ability to sneak up on others. The night hung overhead, and the stars and moon seemed to light up the savannah just the way the sunshine would. She preferred traveling by moonlight. It was softer on her, and she could work in the darkness. She was a self proclaimed demon hunter, ready to fight and kill the demons of the world. Her rune markings almost like a brand placed on her at birth. They all represented what her kind stood far. She was from a very secretive cult, one that had been released along the pride lands. They hunted others, but only the wicked. They were do-gooders of the highest degree, but they weren't always the nicest of lions. She was alert, her mind calm as her eyes scanned the grass lands. She twitched her ears, trying to catch a sign of anyone who may be approaching. For now, she was alone, so she sat down, and began licking her leg. When she was done grooming, she looked around once more, scanning for her safety or for the ones she hunted. "Its a quiet night.." She groaned.A lion stretched under the moonlight, his form darkened and silhouetted from his stance on a hill. His eyes were sensitive in this low light and he still managed to see well. Well enough, even, to see the approaching form that then sat some distance away. By studying its mannerisms, he concluded it could only be a lioness. He watched with reserve and sat where he was and began grooming himself.
Well, what if it was a pretty lioness? He wanted to look his best. He threw out his chest and raked his claws through his nice, thick mane. It was the best billboard of health and he wanted to exhibit it. To him, his appearance said "I'm strong, those who live in my territory are healthy, and if we had cubs- well I'll be damned if they're not strong and healthy too."
Yes, in comparison to the lioness, his quest was much simpler and easier and of less-noble cause, but oh well.
