Sahala had been a wanderer all of her life and she liked it that way... until recently. Her poor vision had never proved to be a problem for her and it never stopped her from living alone. Though after a strange meeting with a lion who claimed to be a seer, she realized that she was no longer a pup. It was time to settle down. The lion also mentioned the wild dog pack called the Peke Na and Sahala had also met some other wild dogs along the way that had told her about it. It sounded like the perfect place for her to settle down. She had been traveling for days but to no avail. Animals pointed her in all directions and now she had to admit that she was terribly lost. She found herself in a forest and far from any place that she was familiar with. So now, Sahala could only hope that she could find her way either out of this forest or find the Peke Na.

Little Sonara- or Goldensound- was wandering a little bit too far from his parents. He probably should have turned back by now, but adventure was too exciting! The juvenile dog was sniffing about, nose to the ground and tail in the air. His big radar-dish-like ears swiveled with every sound. His tail wagged like a flag and he was tracking the scent of an antelope. Or maybe a waterbuck. Or maybe a herd of them. He was still young and mostly self-taught, so at least he was able to recognize prey animals when he smelled them, right?

He paused for a moment to look up and examine how far he'd wandered. Well... He'd never been into the forest this far. He frowned, but went back to tracking, until he did a double take.

Was that another wild dog? He tilted his head and with a jaunty smile, trotted over to the female. Maybe she was an older pack member and could show him how to hunt- or at least how to get home.

Sahala had been able to find plenty of prey in the jungle and she was actually beginning to like it here. Was it possible that this could be her new home? If she could just find the Peke Na, that would answer her question. Shaking her head and trying to relax a little, Sahala didn't want to get frustrated about something that she couldn't control... for now at least. Tilting her head, she heard soft footsteps in the distance. Her body instinctively tensed up and prepared for the worst. Sahala had very poor daytime vision but even she could see the small figure approaching her. The juvenile didn't seem like he was looking to harm her. She almost felt a little relieved to finally be in the presence of another animal. It was eerie walking around here all alone. "Hello there?" Greeting him, she called out softly wondering what a young dog was doing out here by himself.

User ImageSonara smiled and bowed playfully. "Hi!" As soon as he measured the female up, he couldn't seem to identify her. Maybe she wasn't a pride member... The little dog had been instructed to never talk to strangers... But she didn't look mean and she hadn't hurt him yet. So why fear the worst? He looked her up and down again.

"I'm Sonara. My pack name is Goldensound. Are you a part of the Peke Na? I am. My family is too." Sniffing her, she even smelled foreign.

"Where are you from?" He looked up at her with his big, bi-colored eyes and blinked, waiting for an answer and fidgeting like any young dog would.

Oh he was so friendly. Sahala couldn't help but giggle to herself because it had been awhile since she had been in the presence of a young wild dog. Her family had dispersed long ago and she didn't have her own family... "Hello. Pleasure to meet you." She had no idea whether she was supposed to address him as Sonara or Goldensound but she continued. "My name is Sahala." Perking up to the mention of the Peke Na, Sahala was thrilled to finally have found a member of the Peke Na. She looked around wondering if there was anybody else around but it seemed like it was just him. "I'm a traveler and I was actually looking for your pack, the Peke Na. I was looking to settle down there. What's it like, living in your pack?" Smiling at Sonara, she felt so relieved that her time wandering aimlessly was almost over.

"Oh, so you're not from there, then?" He tilted his head and his ears flopped, as though he hadn't quite grown into them yet. "It's nice to meet you, Sahala! Since you don't have a pack name, you can just call me by my not-pack name... Oh, the not-pack one is Sonara!" He tilted his head, thinking.

"Hmm... It's... really, really nice!" He smiled and wagged his tail. "I love it there, but that's maybe 'cause I love my family... Nah, I love the both of them." He nodded, as though he was just now sure of himself, simply because he'd never thought about it before.

"They'll welcome you in! There's plenty of fun ranks, too. I'm not sure what I'm gonna be when I grow up, though." But ah, no rush. He had plenty of time to decide.

Shaking her head, Sahala wished that she had a home but hopefully that was going to change soon. "Alright Sonara!" Listening to him tell her about his home, Sahala was happy to hear that he liked it there. It really sounded like a pack that she would like to settle down in and maybe she could have a family. Having no familial ties had molded her into a careful and distant creature but it was time for a change. "Yeah? It's good that you like it there. What about your parents? What do they do?" His enthusiasm was so refreshing and Sahala's mood was definitely improving. "Would you be willing to take me back there with you? This forrest has got me completely disoriented and I have no idea where I'm going. I would definitely like to talk to your pack leaders about joining."

Sonara happily barked out "My momma is a healer and my poppa is a scout!" His tail waved happily. Would he take her back?

"Sure!" He smiled, happy he'd made a new friend and that she'd be sticking around as a part of his pack. He furrowed his brows but he had a smile.

"I uh... I think I know my way back..." He looked over his shoulder and looked down the path he had come. He could just follow his own scent trail, right? "Yeah, I can do it!" After all, Sahala was counting on him!

"Healer and scout..." Sahala had contemplated how she would fit into a pride and her poor eyesight had always been a disadvantage for her when hunting. Though she's learned to compensate by hunting only at night. She knew that she could make a good scout as long as she was patrolling at night. Sahala really hoped that she would be allowed to join. It had been a long time since she had had a purpose in her life so she was ready to dedicate her time to the Peke Na. "Alright, lead the way!" She could probably figure out where the young one had come from by following his trail but she would let him try to figure it out.

Sonara lifted his head high to catch the scent of his trail on the wind, and when he found it, his stance changed noticeably. His ears perked up and his tail went stiff. That, and the shy smile that crossed his face. He trotted along the trail and put his nose back to the ground, only glancing back occasionally to make sure that she was following along. He needn't worried, though. He'd pair his check with a smile and a happy bark from time to time until they began to pass more pack members he saw a larger part of the territory. He was so proud of himself for having found it, that he began to think that maybe he should be a Seeker, but then again, his idea of what he wanted to be changed every day.

The end.
