Myrina wrinkled her nose and frowned at the lioness' she spotted sunbathing over by the watering hole. Shaking her head as she watched them twitter and twatter on about how glorious their fur coloring matched the accessories adoning their bodies. It really was sad that beauty had taken another meaning for others. Now males were another story, they knew how to have fun and quite often Myrina found herself being taught certain skills by older males that were passed down to sons and their sons.
A motion caught her attention from the corner of her eye, it- well she couldn't really tell what it was really. It looked like a great hulking beast, and it apparently caught the attention of the few lioness' that were sunbathing. Myrina's ears jerked back when their shrill screaming broke the silence, and Myrina shook her head. " Honestly." She muttered as she ventured closer and came right up to the 'beast'. " Ladies... LADIES! Calm down, its just a feline... I believe covered in mud... twigs and other such things. You alright there?"

 Durion was having...
A bad...
day.
He'd rather not remember how he had gotten to that hellish point. Regardless of what circumstances led to his being completely and utterly coated in mud, grime, twigs and underbrush, he had been desperately seeking out a watering hole. And he had found one.
Sweet GODS he had found one.
But just when the weighted-down male was about to plunge into the pool's cool embrace, he heard the tell-tale cries of lionesses. His senses had all been clouded thanks to his predicament, so he hadn't noticed them at all.
"Oh, sh--" Durion tried to exclaim, but his mouth was muffled with mud. In his surprise, he took a few accidental weight-caused steps and fell side-ways into the water. His body slammed against the surface hard, and he managed a groan before he disappeared beneath the glassy surface. He allowed himself a few moments of under-water shaking and thrashing before swimming to the surface. He sucked in a gasp once his face hit sunlight and he clambered quickly onto the land. Then he remembered that he had some company.
How in the hell was he gonna explain himself to a cluster of frightened lionesses?
Well, he'd think of something. He was a con-man, after all.
"Heyyyy," he started in a friendly tone, swallowing harshly. The water had been colder than he had first anticipated.

Myrina lifted her one eyebrow at the what she now knew male lion and laughed out right. " You look like a drowned rat!" She spoke rather bluntly while snickering while looking at the few twings clinging to the flatten down mane of the dark male. "Hell come out of the water and sit your wet self down on that rock over there. That's usually where them miss prissy's sit there big butt self down to suntan." Her words brought such a fuss you'd swear someone was being killed at this very moment.
"Oh! Quiet it the lot of you!" Myrina frowned fiercely as she dug her claws into the earth. " Don't make me use the mud slap!" Those words brought on silence for a few minutes before grunts and rude words were muttered as the lioness' left the watering hole all in a huff. No doubt they were running to the pride leader. Rolling her eyes Myrina turned back to the black, blue, and white lion. "Who are you suga?"

Glad to oblige the polite suggestion from the brown female, but inwardly disappointed at the departure of lionesses, Durion made his way over to the offered seat and flopped down. He felt like a heap of wet, matted fur, and he no doubt looked it.
Blue eyes darting up to steal a good look at the bad-mouthing girl, Durion tried to gauge the best course of action as the lioness scared away the other females. She seemed a little rough around the edges--not one for fancy words. But Durion didn't mind. He was a lot like that himself. And her nickname for him made him smirk.
Maybe he wouldn't need a plan after all.
"Name's Durion, sweet-grass," he said, flicking a chunk of black bangs from his eyes. He tried to snort water out of his nose as politely as possible and lightly shook his head. "and I guess you must be the boss of the watering hole?" he added, flashing a grin.

Myrina followed the male with her eyes before she moved her body towards the now seated Durion. "Sweet-grass? Oh aren't you cute-" She paused with a smile before sitting down herself. " Durrrion." She purred out his name while flickering her tail back and forth. Myrina learned some males enjoyed a little flirting now and then. Made'em feel 'important' to receive such attention. "I am Myrina and I wouldn't say boss really. Just that those silly lioness' are... easily controllable I can't help it if they're dumb as posts." She blinked innocently putting on an angelic face knowing her words were catty.
" Now, tell Miss Myrina every little thing. You looked like death warmed over, it sounds like an interesting story." She settled down into her spot playing with a mud clump every now and then. "Have you been in the rogue lands long? Or just passin' through?"

"Ahhhh, the rogue lands..." Durion started in a heavy sigh, making himself more comfortable on his rock. "I've been here all my life. Why settle down when I got nothin' to lose this way?" He had nothing to gain from that lioness, so he decided a full-on act wasn't necessary. Whether or not he would tell her the whole truth about how he had ended up in his rather laughable situation was another story, however.
He was still in the process of deciding.
"It's an interesting story," Durion drawled, musing, but his mask was up. He didn't want to remember the story. He had almost died. He didn't like to think about death. And he didn't like to think about the one who had almost caused him to die. But that left a question prodding at the corners of his mind--sum it up briefly for the girl, Myrina, or lie completely?
He'd give himself a few more moments to decide...a few more looks into those inviting purple eyes.

" Hmm I see." Myrina continued to look at Durion. " That sounds like a world weary sigh there big guy, and like you I have been in the rogue lands my whole life. I've lived in this area for a long while too, I'm startin' to get that itch. And don't give me a weird look not that kinda itch. The traveling itch, the adventure bug you know? A lioness can only stay in one place for so long." She spoke casually enjoyin' her company, but when she turned around to look at Durion she found him looking at her intently. She could tell he was a bit iffy talkin' about himself, so she decided to distract.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" She looked at her nose making her eyes go crossed-eye and making her look rather silly. "Do I have something on my nose? Face?" Feeling a little bit mischievous and to kick this mood of seriousness she looked down at the mud by her paw and then looked up at Durion with a smile. Cautiously and innocently she looked at him before attacking at the last possible moment. Wet dirt went flying and Myrina got up on all fours wiggling her bum in the air like she did when she was a cub. " Play with me!"

Dang, her mouth moved faster than hummingbird wings.
Even so, Durion thought, that trait wasn't entirely unwelcome. Something about her care-free demeanor made him wonder if (quite out-of-character) he had any sisters in the world, and if they were like Myrina. She reminded him of where he came from--where he'd never return. Part of him liked that, but another part of him...not so much. He made a mental note not to overstay his welcome.
Though he doubted that was possible in the company of someone like Myrina.
Durion smirked, ears flicking backwards. "Lookin' at you, cub." he answered, watching the lioness cross her eyes. But the sweetness of the easy-going conversation quickly turned sour when Durion heard her challenge for play, right before a glob of mud slapped his forehead. As if he wasn't dirty enough!
Jumping half-way to his paws with a short gasp, the male shook the filth off and watched it hit the ground. He shot his head back up to stare at the female and looked serious for a moment. But he sighed, realizing he shouldn't get worked up about something so...innocent.
"No, I don't play," Durion said, managing something similar to a smile. The entire situation was beginning to make him uneasy. He wasn't used to his female encounters being like...well, this. He lied back down with a grunt and tried to ignore the clinging feeling of drying mud all over his skin.

" Oh I see," Myrina spoke softly and not entirely herself. She watched as Durion sat himself down back in his original spot flicking the dirt away. Then her eyes narrowed a bit and her tail slashed around behind her. "I'm not a cub." Myrina 'pouted' which really made her look like she was frowning or grimacing. Before wandering over to the water to drink and clean her paws. " What do you do for fun then?" She spotted a large leaf near the water edge and used it to scoop up the water. She wandered over to Durion and placed the very cold water between rocks to hold a cup like shape. " If you wait just a few minutes the water will be warmer and then you can wash the rest of the dirt off."
A yawn slipped out of her mouth, the sun really was calming and making her sleepily. Not to mention the breeze helped take the bite of the heat away. Suddenly a loud buzzing noise zipped around her ears. Frowning she swotted at the little demons aka bugs flying around her. Myrina figured it was not only the wet feline smell but the mud and... other things Durion had rolled into. " You know... you should smile more often, it suits you. So handsome." Myrina winked and then stretched out her body, comfortable in her soft spot.

What, so one minute she was actin' like she was no older than a juve, and then she was turnin' on the charm with a compliment and a wink? One minute she was like a kid sister, and the next minute she was sexy? Was she mad at him, or didn't she care about anything at all?
Durion was confused. He was feeling conflicted.
The male eyed the unexpected offering of water and let it sit. Then he shifted his blue eyes back to the lioness, black tail swatting the ground once. He let his side-ways stare sink for a few solid moments before he opened his mouth again.
"You should be careful who you say those things to...sweet-grass."

Myrina snorted and then gave a half-smile, the males in her pride often poked fun at her skill at flirting. She had no skill it would seem at it. She rarely tempted it as her tries ended up failing badly. "A girl can try, but I guess I'm just not that girl." She laughed loudly while shaking her head. She raised her eyebrow at her ignored offering of water, and thought that maybe it was best to head back to her village to play war games with her fellow 'brothers' aka the males of the village. " Well suga, I've been known for speaking my mind and not thinking of the consequences. My motto is: 'If you have somethin' to say then you damn well say it!' Everyone can't be mind readers, also if you don't say or ask then you'd never know what the other was thinking."
She put her head down on to her front paws for a few minutes, before speaking again. "I'm gettin' bored. Suppose I'll be headin' off soon. I feel like huntin' care to join?"

Durion's ears swiveled at the varying tones in the female's voice, listening to her words. He rose to his paws and grinned, water still streaming down his fur.
"A nice motto to live by," he concurred, giving the lioness a final once-over with his eyes. He stretched and flicked his tail, water spraying the ground. He stood up again with a tired sigh, claws testing the earth beneath him. When he heard the lioness speak again, he cut her a side-ways glance and found himself listening intently.
"Hmm," the lion hummed, seeming to ponder the idea. But really, he was thinking of a way out. The longer he stayed, the worse things would get--he knew that. Things always turned sour in a place the longer he was around. Girls always ended up...hurt.
"Nah," he said, smirking. "my mate'd be pissed if she knew I was out huntin' with another lioness," he said honestly, though ever word was a lie. "You go out an' have your fun, sweet-grass," he said, beginning to turn and make his leave. "maybe I'll take you up on that offer one day later." He gave a nod of his head and one final smirk good-bye before he began his departure.
It was the best choice, he thought. He might've been a cunning con when he wanted to be, but he knew when he needed something and when he didn't. Girls always ended up hurt if he stuck around too long.
He didn't want to hurt that one.

" Oh," She blinked in shock. " You have a mate?" She smiled as she asked. " Thats wonderful! Good for you! What a lucky femmie!" His next words caused her to laugh out loud. "Yes I can see that causing a bit of an issue, I wouldn't want my male with another female that's for sure. I'm a bit possessive." She winked jokingly before certain thoughts hit her and made her feel a bit sad. She enjoyed Durion's company and was sad to see him go.
She watched him walk away before shouting, very loudly mind you, a farewell. " I hope to meet you in the future again!" Mryina watched him continue on before she too turned around and headed for the hunting grounds.
END.
