
It wasn't that he didn't enjoy spending time with his family. They were what he treasured most in the world after all. But everyone needs time alone, and he felt that he was old enough to take that time now.
A blur of white hurdling towards the soggy earth signaled for the colt to dodge. A laugh of pure joy erupting from his mouth as the ball of melting snow, which had fallen from a tree branch, exploded on impact, splattering him as he ran past.
He didn't know what the melting of the snow meant, but he loved what it did to the ground. How it made the earth beneath his hooves soft and slick. How he could charge at it and then continue to move forward even as his legs stopped moving.
The feeling that it gave him as he slid about, he could describe it as awesome.
