Since the tournament is over, I figured we'd use a new thread for our Pokemon stuff. News, events, battles (when our connections don't interfere), whatever. If it's Pokemon, it's welcome in this thread.
For those who don't know, the new Black and White versions will be released for Europe and North America this week(end), so we have a new generation to work with.
And, on top of that, there is a WiFi giveaway for the new game right off the bat; the ticket that leads to the new Fire/Psychic Victini will be available from launch up through some time in April. (I forget the exact end date at the moment)

For those of you who were curious (and hadn't seen this yet), here is the play-by-play of the battle I had with Bapp a ways back, before he switched to the team he used against the others (to great success): Quote: ROUND ONE: -Bapp's Gardevoir almost knocks out Red's Starmie with Thunderbolt, Starmie holds on with only a few HP left -Red switches to Electivire, knocks out Gardevoir -Bapp uses Mismagius, almost knocks out Electivire, but Mismagius gets knocked out too -Bapp uses Magnezone, gets OHKO'd by Electivire's Earthquake -Bapp uses Gliscor, gets OHKO'd by Electivire's Ice Punch -Bapp uses a shiny Togekiss, knocks out Electivire with Extremespeed -Red uses Starmie again, almost knocks it out with Ice Beam, but falls to Aura Sphere -Red uses Charizard, Bapp switches to Milotic. Dragon Pulse doesn't do much to Milotic -Charizard uses Fly and knocks out Milotic with a lucky Critical Hit -Bapp sends Togekiss back out -Charizard finishes it off with Heat Wave -Bapp is out of pokemon -Round winner: Red ROUND TWO: -Red immediately swaps Starmie for Electivire, Bapp's Gardvoir attacks with Magical Leaf -Gardevoir almost knocks out Electivire, but falls to an Ice Punch -Bapp uses Togekiss, Red switches to Torterra -Torterra attacks with Stone Edge, but Togekiss dodges with Fly. Second attempt does about 60% damage -Togekiss falls to Torterra's Rock Climb -Bapp uses Gliscor, knocks out Torterra with Aerial Ace -Red uses Starmie, knocks out Gliscor with Ice Beam -Bapp sends out Magnezone, Red switches to Electivire, absorbing the Thunderbolt with Motor Drive -Electivire knocks out Magnezone with Earthquake -Bapp uses Mismagius, but OHKO'd by a Critical Hit ThunderPunch -Bapp uses Milotic, but OHKO'd by a ThunderPunch -Bapp is out of pokemon -Round winner: Red Unused Pokemon on Red's Team: Garchomp, Gallade If you have any records of battles, or clips, or stories, or whatever (against friends here, or just random battles you feel like sharing), feel free to post them here. mrgreen

I almost wanna get Black or White just so I could join in with everyone... but I havent seen my DS in forever so it kind of would be pointless... sweatdrop
Which version is everyone gonna get? ^^ I've heard there's big differences between the two.

confused And you have no idea where to look for it, huh? That's a shame, because we'd love to have you join the conversations as a player instead of just an interested observer... maybe upgrade to a 3DS when that comes out? I think it's scheduled to be released soon worldwide.
I'm going to get both games, but have my primary be White. I like its signature Legendary, Zekrom, better.

I think I may go for White if I ever do get one of them. Here's my combo:
Version: White
Chara: Boy (90% sure of this. You all probably already know his name xp )
Starter: Snivy
Pokemon I hope to get/use in game:
Sewaddle, Litwick (and its evolutions), Rufflet (and its evolution. BABYEAGLESOCUTE), Pansage, Petilil, and others I can't think of right now
I'm trading a friend of mine my Zekrom for her Reshiram when both of us get to that point in the games. She wants Black but she wants Zekrom, and vice versa for me, so that's how it should hopefully work out. I want to nickname it Yin too, so maybe I'll ask her to do that for me. ^^
Reason I'm getting White instead of Black is because all my favorite Pokemon from all generations are in that game, and I'd rather go with the many than the few. And also I'm kind of a nature freak, so...maybe that's why I like Grass types? Maybe I really was a hippie in a past life...

Got the games... now I just have to think of a fitting name to use to get started... I thought of one for the girl trainer, but that doesn't really help me at the moment...

Impressive... most impressive.
Sta's use of Perish Song was almost textbook in its execution. Mabo's combination of Aqua Ring and Leftovers on Vaporeon was a smart move too.

I'll nickname my Zekrom Yang and then trade it to her for Yin. XD I got White two days ago and I'm making slow but steady progress. My friends already have like 4 and 5 gym badges and I'm still going for my 2nd, but oh well. I like to stop and smell the roses, I guess. And as for the names...Kilroy and Billie Jean! 8D That's what I call them. The former is my boy character's name. ^-^ He's Kilroy, Kilroy, Kilroy, Kilroy! 8D (Anyone who gets this reference gets a cookie.)

My name choices were Chester and Whitney. I felt that they worked... and they just fit the name size limit.
I've got 3 badges so far (I just beat Burgh last night) and picked up both Victini and Zorua. I'm looking forward to seeing how the latter grows up... mrgreen
For me, I think I rushed the 2nd Gym a little bit... I was caught off guard when the first trainer had a Lv17. I would recommend you swing by the Pinwheel Forest area west of the city before taking on the gym. If anything, you'll level up some looking around. Also, Snivy's (or Servine's, if you let it evolve) Leaf Tornado attack will help you dodge the heavy hitters with its secondary effect.

Snivy's stats are pretty sad compared to the rest of the starters, though.
It has balanced everything, with just slightly higher defense and speed.
It's evolutions are the coolest among the rest though.
I'm starting to suspect that Pokemon White and Black are just games made off the template of the first gen.
They wouldn't have weird Pokemon like Timburr, Tympole and Doggendola if they didn't.
Cos' those are like Machop, Poliwag and Geodude clones.

LEAF TORNADO FTW YES OMG SRSLY
The 2nd gym was easy for me because I overtrained everyone and caught a Throh. (Vital Throw and Seismic Toss. Yeah. Messes stuff up.) I'm currently catching Grass types in Pinwheel Forest and annoying PETA Team Plasma. 3nodding
