Division One, (Often called Squad One) is the highest ranking division of all the Gotei 13, home to some of the most powerful Shinigami in Soul Society. Even subordinate members of the division are considered model Shinigami, and are to consistently make an effort to appear as such whenever they interact with other squads, undertake missions, or simply take a walk. The true values of the first division is that when emergencies arise, they are dealt with swiftly; as quick decisions and even faster actions are essential. The division is able to ascertain a situation and mobilize quickly even before an order is issued.
Seat Responsibilities
Captain-Commander: Must be the figurehead for the Gotei 13, as well as command them all when needed. Is responsible for visiting and making sure of the upkeep of all the squads, the Academy and the Gates both to the Rukongai and the Human World.
Vice-Captain: Is expected to be the 'left hand' of the Captain-Commander. What the Commander cannot do, the Vice-Captain must. This includes, and is not limited to, running errands, signing for his Commander, partaking in training, meeting with other Captains in the Commanders place.
Seated Officers: Are required to act in manners befitting of members of Division One. Duties include maintaining the squad quarters, grounds and general cleanliness of the division. Need to always maintain a schedule of training.
Unseated Officers: Duties are the same as Seated officers with a more heavy handed view towards training.Recruitment Incentives/Requirements
--->Those who are considered "leaders" are best suited for the division as the Captain-Commander is the prime example of leadership, and serving under him means that leadership is learned from the very best.
While it is true that leadership is one of the qualities that is looked for in recruits, courage, loyalty and the ability to think as a group are also needed.
