I'd love to grow a garden of edible plants, but I live in an apartment and I'm not sure how to go about it. I'm a beginner gardener because I've always lived in apartments, and my mother never gardened so I didn't have anyone to learn from. It was actually my stepmother and father who taught me what little I know, I basically helped with weeding and watering. I need to wait for things to warm up here first I think, and I should wait until we move, so I'll be planting at the beginning of April if I can. What I'm asking is, any suggestions for me to start out? I'd love the help, and if I get the opportunity to plant a garden I'll be sure to post some pictures!

I don't know much about gardening myself, but if you have plenty of natural lighting, my suggestion would be container gardening.
If your apartment dosent have many windows, try using artificial light*turn em off when you go to bed to give the plants time to sleep too ;3)

Ohhh thanks for the link. smile
The windows shouldn't bee too much of
a problem, and we'll have a pretty nice
sized balcony. Thanks for the suggestions!

my idea for an indoor veggie garden "bed". take a decently large tupperware (the kind you use for storing clothes and stuff) put crushed aluminum cans in the bottom. cover these with landscape fabric. put in your soil and plant accordingly. this is a cheaper alternative to earthboxes.

thank you guys, i sort of got the beginnings of the idea from a combination of studying the structure of earthboxes and from a video podcast where the guy was using coke cans in flower pots as drainage.

I'd just buy an undeveloped track of land xp, but that's just me and I hate the big city xp. Then again, you can use UV Lamps to grow plants indoors xp.

It's the cheapest kind of land, yet you can turn it into almost anything. And I was just voicing my opinion xp

its still an expensive resource that not everyone has access to. the question was about ways to garden in an apartment, not what people sitting in privilege would do instead. just take a second to check yourself.
