Pavitra, keeping close to her swollen side, continually glanced over to Etain. He was nervous that her time for birth was approaching and definitely wanted her safe under his fir trees, hidden from prying eyes. He'd never dealt with a woman's pregnancy, nor her baskets or foals, but he enjoyed the idea of taking care of them. He hoped to gather foods for Etain while she regained her strength, and making sure the baskets were kept clean, warm, and out of harm's way.

He never expected anything like this to cross his path, but Pavitra needed to fill up his empty days. Depression was sinking in on him, and he was hoping desperately the company of children and another horse will ebb those feelings away.

"How are you feeling?" He asked tentatively of the mare he met only early today; the same mare who has entrusted the care of herself and her foals into him. He wouldn't give her reason to regret it.

Etain heaved a heavy sigh and closed her eyes for a moment, grateful to have wings to carry her body. The added weight in her stomach and the aches and pains that came with it weren't easy to handle. She knew she was young, and probably foolish for having foals at such a young age herself, but what was she supposed to do? Her people had spoken. Opening one bleary eye she looked at the stallion next to her. He was a nice sort, but he seemed... sad. It wasn't really her place to pry though, perhaps in time.

"Are we close Pavitra? I'm alright, don't worry, but I could certainly use a nap.. How are you feeling?"

Her mind wandered a little bit.. Soon she would be needed baskets. Her two-legger Aely, had told her not to worry that when the time came she would have them all ready for her. Thank goodness. More worries were not on her list of things to deal with.

"We are very close." He tried to smile reassuringly, noting that he could see the top of the trees from where they flew. "Spring is on its way as well. It wont be too hard to find food for you while you rest." He smiled brilliantly again. "And I am doing just fine, though I must say I am worried about you. I was never taught about female's pregnancys and am not aware of what is normal and what is not though I do expect it is an exhausting process." He let his worry slip a small frown on his features.

"After you've rested, you'll definitely have to fill me in on everything that I need do for you and the little ones. I want to be most prepared." A flash of determination crossed his face and they soared over the first of the lightly budding trees. The few firs that he rested under were tall and easily spotted from where they were. "We're nearly there."

Etain felt that she was going to really like spending time with this stallion. She had plenty of subjects that loved her, and of course plenty of admirers of her beauty. It was high time that she found a friend that she wouldn’t have to constantly be royal around. “Don’t worry Pav, I’ve been told that I’m a bit young to be having young of my own but my body is in fine condition and beyond being more tired than what would be considered normal I’ll come through this just fine.

His formality pleased her, yet there was a sense of calm around him that she found very reassuring in and of itself. “Just stay calm and I’ll be calm as well… I do worry about having the baskets on time. I thought I had a lot more time than what I’ve got to give birth… I have a feeling my heirs are going to be making an appearance well before what I was expecting.” A thrill ran through her, the idea of laying down and taking a nap appealed. Usually she very rarely laid down, but right now it sounded divine.

Every time she used the words "giving birth" it made a chill run up Pavitra's spine. It sounded so painful, and from the rumors he'd heard, it was just that. A side from his thoughts of what was to come, his mind was whirling with a lot of confusion but eagerness to help. A certain question continued to rise. Why is he helping a mare that he barely knows? Why had he been so willing to help a complete stranger with something as personal as bringing new lives into the world? He didn't want to admit it to anyone, including himself, but he was so desperate for company that he might of had lunch with a skinwalker had it asked, knowing he very well of may been the lunch.

Trying to slam those thoughts shut in the back of his mind, he took notice to how Etain already was using a nickname. He smiled easily at her. He got a long with nearly everyone, but Etain seemed to be the rare type of person that he didn't have to try and get along with. It was a natural type of bonding, he liked to think.

"Well I'll do my best, M'lady." He bowed his head (still grinning) at her before nodding in the direction of his trees, easing slowly downward. "There." Landing lightly on the ground, just as the edges of the firs, Pavitra watched Etain intently.

"I'll gather you some fruits, possibly some long grass while you rest. I've taken hold of some human tools lying around-" He grinned devilishly, "-and it will come in handy. There is a brook not far for you, since I have no way to carry the water too you." He frowned apologetically, wishing to give her all the help he could. He felt he shouldn't be acting so... so.. slave-like but he had such a strong desire to please her, he couldn't help it.

Etain was used to getting along with everybody that she met… Although it was rather true she was vain and uppity to some extent and didn’t really notice if others disliked her. Even if they did she chalked it up to them just being jealous of the fact that they themselves were not of royal blood or even of noble lineage. Her new friend spoke and behaved like a noble but he had not said anything to confirm that. Perhaps she would have to speak to her father about seeing if the faery-folk would accept him in as a knight. He was kind and the idea of having him as a personal guard or some such had quite a bit of appeal to it… Oh the possibilities that could be had.

Catching the stallion’s smile she returned it easily before managing to bring her mind back to the present. They seemed to be flying lower and lower and that worked quit nicely for her. She was so tired right now and a nap sounded like the most heavenly thing on this earth. Beyond getting this extra weight out of her and having her young to play with.

“Please.. no need for the formality Pav, I’ll simply be Etain for now and if you think of a nickname you’d prefer perhaps it… Although in front of the faery-folk it’ll have to be formal.. They’re sticklers for traditions… Mischievious buggers.”

Landing carefully, Etain heaved a great breath before smiling at the area. “Yes, this will be absolutely lovely and don’t worry about having to have to travel to water… It’ll do me good to have something to do that’s not overly strenuous and I don’t want you to feel like my slave… I am grateful for this you know… but beyond that I feel quite safe you with here…” Etain blinked a bit, she wasn’t normally so outspoken… it felt very odd. Nodding briskly, a faint blush on her cheeks she circled a tree before laying down carefully. “Would you like to rest and chat a bit? I’m sure I won’t need anything until after I wake up and I’m not quite ready to sleep yet… your choice though, of course.”

He hadn't really taken notice to him not using her real name. He always said M'lady or Ma'am to someone of higher status, which obviously a royal demanded such. He had heard of the fae-types, and along with the skinwalkers, the kirins, and many others, he had yet to meet any. Until now he supposed. He wondered silently why their pregnant linage wasn't being well guarded, or where her mid-wives were. Surely she was supposed to have some? Perhaps Etain was fleeing from such things, considering that she preferred her real name though only out of the presence of her family.

Then another thing struck him out of the blue, and he asked with out thinking, like he sometimes tended to do. "Etain, where is the father?" He craned his head, walking with her under the low hanging branches of the green, spiny trees. He blushed a moment after realizing what he asked was far too personal and may be something of a painful thought. "Er, actually, none of my business. But I would love to chat with you some more before finding us dinner." He half grinned, half smiled, hoping he hadn't made a mistake in bringing up the father.

In the back of his mind, he realized he hadn't seen Adalyn in... well many days. He hadn't kept track really. Maybe if he went looking for her, and brought her back here, he would be able to assist in Etain's birth? Quickly he dismissed the thought. Adalyn probably would assume the worst, as she always did, that the foals would be Pavitra's, and Etain probably wouldn't want an unknown mare handling her young.

But why would she want an unknown male? The question wouldn't stop nagging at Pavi, but he refused to voice it. He was afraid she would come to her senses and move off to her own kind, and he lose the only company he's had in ages.
