Sirens called out to him as the clouds and cold winter air chilled his skin. There cries lured him from his route and drove him to new places. Sirens of myth called men to their doom. The sirens of destiny city signaled in the Red Light district someone might yet be saved. Some might survive. The flashing lights drew onlookers of all sorts, but many would remain behind the dirty window frames, the broken wood doors of their homes, knowing better then to get involved. Why should they, the sirens were reminders of the dangers of their homes, of their jobs, of their lives. Why go outside to watch, if it would mean leaving to small safety of your domain?

You didn't.

So when Castor looked down from the shadows to see the yellow tarp, he knew he'd arrived late. One more life, gone. Anger welled up, his mind applying self blame. Ever inadequacy, ever failing to protect those who needed it. To protect his loved ones. His friends. His family. He could save the nameless stanger, chance did he have with his love? None.

Movement in the ally caught his attention. Few watched, but the man was skittish, had he caused it? Judging by the fact his hands were empty-
It was worth a risk to bring a killer to justice.

Jumping down the man was easy to pin to the wall. "Looking a little guilty tonight, hanging about in the shadows, looking over you shoulder like that. You have-"
"CASTOR!" The man cried his name as if he was familiar. Sure he was known in the district but not well. Shock and the man turned around. Up close the senshi could see the swollen face. The cuts. And the tears. "The thing wanted to find you. Took my girl. It- god-" Castor's confusion was matched by the man's frantic mumbling. "Out of her chest, said I had to find you. Tell you to go to the construction yard about half a mile down. It'd be there. Said it was about a girl. Lin something. I-"

All function shut down. "Linarite?" Castor's voice was cold, and the man stood, wide eyed. A simple nod of his head and Castor was off like a rocket. Someone wanted to get his attention.

All it took was a starseed and a simple name.

The construction for new 'poor housing' was at beast tentatively underway, a handful of them had walls, one had part of a roof but none of them quite said they were the one - no....that one, the one sad half constructed building seemed almost to be held together with plastic sheeting and plywood. Partial walls and half done floors and one light that could just be seen through the upper floor window, invitation given, 'the door is open, there lies the way.'
Or maybe 'welcome to my parlor' would have been a better descriptive of the set up. Still, short of trying to burn it down, though there were no answers in doing that.

Muddy boot prints from workers whom had trod the over saturated ground lined the floor obscuring any hint of what might have been the freshest tracks. Plastic was hung where there should have been walls, it crinkled and shifted as though the house was breathing, reaching for you like ghosts of those whom had gone before, maybe the one who lay dead now under a yellow tarp just to get your attention, just to make sure they remembered your name.

A measured step up the half finished stairs led you onward and upward, a cool wind chased you and the rustle of plastic upward and onward.

Logic should have told Castor not to go. That Admiral Ackbar was right, it was a trap. A trap with tarps even. The crinkling plastic might have blocked the cold wind but certainly didn't stop the feeling running down the senshi's spine. In faint glow of the yellow lights, Castor only saw red. Anger and hate filled his head, was it Tanz? Maybe, but calling him out would have been more direct, more violent. She'd have made a scene. This was too...basic for her. It had more planning, more of a human's touch. And Castor no longer expected anything human from the agent known as Tanzanite, the woman he affectionately once called Tanzy.

This was more...calculated.

"Who's here?" His voice rang out ove the rustling plastic, and moaning winds. "You wanted my attention?" He tore down one of the annoying plastic walls. Why? ******** if he knew, it just annoyed him. "You have it. Now what is this s**t about Lina?"

There was a long and calculated pause, the silence filled by the lack of further boot steps, the crinkle of plastic as other sheets moved in half opaque ghosts trying to free themselves of their staples.

Silence, oppressive and mocking before the answer came.

"She's dead."

So simple a phrase there was seldom uttered by the voice that said it. Yet the weight of it was tremendous in its simplicity. A voice newly familiar but recent at. Zinkenite... his words velvety and icy and precise just behind that obscuring curtain of plastic, half blocked by a half completed wall.

To say your stomach dropped was incorrect for Castor. Something did drop. His heart. Time seemed to freeze as the words echoed in his skull with perfect clarity. The voice was colder then win, and as much as Castor wanted to say it was a trick, he couldn't be sure. Linarite still held a part of his heart, despite his efforts to rid himself of that last thread he held for her.

"No, she's not. I would have heard from another. Taking out a general would be good news for senshi, we..we'd hear about that sort of thing."

Hell, Taranis would have told him if he'd taken her out. The guy hated her deep enough that her death would have made him talk to him again.
Maybe.

Still, Castor didn't -- couldn't-- believe the what he had been told.

"She's not dead, don't lie to me."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:27 pm

"What reason do I have to lie to you Castor... one of yours left her for Dead...they got their WISH." The cold satin voice turned hard at the end, hard as a dagger before it went soft again.
Soft...and right beside his ear...

"You got just want you wanted... didn't you." He'd teleported so close the dark energy practically pressed against your skin before he slid back a step and lashed out hard with a tall boot driving you towards the half constructed wall, surprisingly it only gave slightly on impact, it at least kept you from landing in a tangle of torn free plastic as he stooped and picked something off the ground half hidden in the folds of his coat...
A new coat...
Designs of blue curled down from its edges and twisted at the hem like smoke.

Before Castor had time to turn, to react, the hair on the back of his neck was standing on end. Not from cold, but from the power. He knew this level. This was the dark energy of the negaverse and it's prime. It was the power of chaos, a deadly and silent hum right behind him.
Blue eye shot open as Castor was slammed into the frame of the soon to be building. Cursing for letting himself get so distracted, The senshi of hail groaned when his saw his attacker. But- "General...Zink?" s**t, if so. Another general would mean hell for the senshi. Heck, it usually ment hell for him. But the new outfit, the power. All pointed to the upgrade. No wonder he'd been called like he had. It was just the little guy's style.

"Liar, we'd know if she was dead. Left for dead doesn't mean she IS dead dipshit."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:55 pm

"Dead..." He repeated moving forward but not close enough to strike, "The cessation of breathing...a lack of heart beat and or neurological function, unable to be revived, the cessation of -being-" He said each word punctuated and paused as though he were teaching a class, each word meant a step forward till suddenly he lashed out a hand to grasp castor's wrist and slammed it into the plastic and two by fours so hard it might have refracted one of the bones in Castor's hand.
"Just... like you'll wish you were." He said before pressing the black nose of the nail-gun to the intersection of palm and wrist and let the pressured air drive home its metal contents between skin and board.

Death. Finality. The definition shook him to the core and Castor felt-
He felt-
He felt his heart break. Linarite. Dead. Gone. The woman he'd first loved, the woman he'd fought for for so long, with nothing to show for it. No smiles, no warmth, no world where they could just be. Where they could have been. Nothing. She was dead and...
It hurt. Zink could have punched him for what those words had done to the senshi of hail. Linarite was dead, and all her could think of, all he could see in his mind's eye-

Pain ripped him back to reality. A nail shot right through his joint, and his body reverberated in pain. Screaming he moved, but the pain from that stopped him as his leg thrashed outward. "********!" Rage at the pain, at the loss in his heart. He didn't want it to be true. It couldn't. He would deny it. "You little lying piece of s**t!" ******** he was in pain.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:59 pm

"LYING?" He said with a bark of cold laugher and turned the nose of the 'gun' down against Castor's thigh, it was warm but not yet hot, but now there was anticipation of the pain it could bring.
"Lying? Did you seriously not think... about the damage you did? Did you justify it all, the blood, the pain in her eyes... " He leaned in almost close enough to kiss the senshi through the thick fabric of his mask.
"Did you like it when she screamed for you Castor... show me what it was like."

His voice sounded dead, there was just enough inflection for it to almost be a civil conversation, and then he pulled the trigger again, the explosion of air locked fingers with another burst of blinding pain.

Castor looked into the eyes of the negaverse agent called Zink and knew. He wasn't lying. He wasn't putting on an act. It was truth. And the truth shot ice into his veins. Linarite...dead. Castor was in pain, and now, all he could think about was her.
Until more pain flashed and something hot and red flowed down is leg. Without thinking his hand was pulled from it's pace and a scream torn out as Castor collapsed. "I didn't- Never-" Who? Someone had to have taken her out. Did- did the newly powered general think it was him?
"I never touched her!"

It was the only thing he could think of. It was also, a lie.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 6:29 pm

One hand grasped under his chin hard and wrenched it up to look him in the eyes, pale blue to bright blue. "Now... who's the liar Castor. I don't approve of Liars."
The nail gun traced against his chin, down his neck, past his shoulder... no idea where it might stop, would it be final or would it be more pain.
"Tell me then... Tell me castor and MAYBE just maybe I will make the pain stop, maybe I won't make you -suffer- like she did." He hissed through his teeth almost a low and dangerous croon to a child. "If you 'didn't' who am I supposed to believe -did-?"
He Shoved at Castor and then pressed the tip of the gun hard into Castor's booted foot. "Name's castor, I'm far from out of air or ammunition... and you'd be amazed at how much damage they say a body can take...if your careful."
An explosion of air and another nail bit through leather, flesh and wood.

Eye to eye, Castor at one point would have said they were alike. They were angry. Angry at loss, at the fact she was gone. But now all he saw was another figure. Who drove his self hate hole with cold iron.
Literally. Pain lanced up his leg as Castor's body betrayed him, his foot torn up from the nail that had gone through. later a doctor would say he was lucky, but now, all Castor knew was blinding pain of white and the burning hot red of blood.
"I couldn't kill her!" The words came out in a cry, a half sob. Pain, sorrow, mixing into one. "I don't know. I don't ******** know! I couldn't do it. I never could." His good hand clenched, maybe he could attack. Yes. Attack. Attack and kill this little general. End the pain. End it all. "I loved her to much to kill her."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 7:04 pm

"Tell me why I should believe you Castor... give me a name..." He demanded dragging castor across the floor till he could straddle him, knees digging into shoulders and the nail gun pressed against the side of his head.
"One name, one nail... don't you want me to stop, do you want this to be over?" He leaned down, one hand pressed against castor's chest to press him down. "Maybe they will forgive you, maybe you'll see her again... you can say hello to God for me... do you believe in him Castor? Does he believe in you?" A gentle hand moved from his chest to brush the tears from Castor's cheek. "Just a Name... that's all I'm asking, it's not too much to ask now is it? I'll even let you pick where the last nail goes... just one Name Castor... one name."
It was so gentle his voice, the promise that it might be done if only he gave that one little thing.

Pain could blind, but so could love. Friendship. Reverence. Faith. Hope. Fear. Sadness. All could blind. But what blinded Castor was his regret. Regret at everything he'd failed, and chances he hadn't taken with Linarite. Maybe they could have run away. Maybe they could have escaped. Maybe. Maybe maybe maybe. "Maybe I don't have a name." He didn't. "Because I don't know. If I did I wouldn't be here, looking for her. Asking for her." Thoughts of her drifted in and out, and in the pain and tears, Castor could see her in his mind's eye.

"I wanted to be the one to kill her." It was a cold truth. The hard cold reality. "I wanted to do it, so I could have a chance to say goodbye."
