User ImageNo matter how strong the lion, numbers will eventually win. That could be said of Lusala in this instance. He'd managed to pull down a young wildebeest that was just a little too curious. He'd managed to eat about half of his meal when the blasted hyenas appeared. There'd been too many to count easily and they'd attacked him for his kill.

Lusala certainly hadn't given up easily, he was bleeding from multiple bite wounds. Stupid hyenas. He limped around looking for a safe place to lick his wounds and stumbled, literally, into a cave that had been concealed by some scrub bushes. He sniffed around the entrance, no one had been through here in some time. Perfect.

He went further into the cave, favoring his injured legs as best he could, till he came to a larger chamber and settled down to lick his wounds. The life of a lone lion is difficult. Stupid hyenas he hoped they choked on that wildebeest.

Dark and massive paws weighed on the ground as the lioness trodded forward through the barren savannah. Whether it was due to it being the early dawn of the day, and many animals sleeping...or just her own ethereal aura that made others avoid her, Sayida was uncertain. But one thing she did know was that she was enjoying the peace and privacy as she wandered these mortal lands. Too long had she been cooped up in the Holy Mountains, existing lazily and boredly with her own kind.

But for whatever reason, the Goddess found herself venturing about today, exploring the low lands with a minor curiosity.

Twisting her heavy tail as she moved, Sayida narrowed her glowing eyes to the left, noting a short and young formation of rocks just some distance away. Her interest perked up, as her natural powers willed her to go investigate the earthly mound. Stepping closer, the female showed no fear or hesitance as she approached...even with the smell of fresh blood in the air. It only made her more eager to see what lurked inside, as she turned a corner and spotted the deep cavity in the rock face.

Ah, so her senses had been right to guess a cave was hidden here. Sayida then wandered in, following the scent and trail.

Lusala licked each wound clean. Those hyenas had really done a number on him. He'd have to lay low for a little while. He could protect himself and hunt when he needed to, but he was going to be very careful not to get into any fights in the next few days.

He'd just finished inspecting his last injury when he heard the sound of paws on stone. Somebody had found his hiding place. He hoped this wasn't going to get messy. He wasn't one to care about scars, but he certainly wasn't going out of his way to collect them. Lusala let out a low warning growl hoping whoever it was would take the hint and scram.

The smell of faint blood caressed her nose with each step she took further into the cave. But for an immortal God, the nasty scent was more like a curious lure that drew her closer and closer. Such an odd thing, blood was. Like water, if you didn't have enough of it, you could perish painfully.

Or so she'd heard.

Her ears flit straight and forward as a growl reached her, well before her poor eyes could focus on shapes in the dark. Swiping her thick tail, the female paused where she stood, casual and unafraid. Then she spoke, her tone even and without threat.

"Excuse you."

... Were those glowing things eyes!? Oh dear. He squinted into the darkness, he'd had more time to let his eyes adjust. Was that a lioness with ... wings of all things? "Apologies?" Better be on the safe side. "Is this your cave?"

He hadn't smelled anyone using this cave... But perhaps she had just chosen to return to it after a long trip or something. And then it hit him. The lioness not only had glowing eyes, but wings. Was she a goddess?

Glowing or not, Sayida's eyes were a poor excuse for vision. It took her a few quiet seconds to gather her surroundings, and that was thanks to her immortal powers over caves. For every little rim and edge within the cave, she could sense clearly.

The stranger lion though, was a different story. She could just barely sense his location by where his paws stepped on the cavern floor.

"No, this is no one's cave. Apparently." She peered around blindly, not catching any history of scent for this cave. Perhaps it was in a bad location, and mortals chose not to make a home here? Who knows, it seemed perfectly fine to the Goddess.

"And yet you are here anyways. Why is that?"

"I'm afraid I am injured and needed a safe haven to lick my wounds. There were rather too many pesky hyenas for me to properly guard my meal from." Lusala told her. She could likely smell the blood anyway, it would be pointless to try and hide the fact. "Are you, perchance, a goddess?" That would be a novel thing. He'd never met anyone of the divine persuasion.

If she was a goddess, it would make a splendid tale. Once he was healed his various friends would be very interested. He supposed the interaction with the hyenas was worth it to meet a goddess, from what he could see in the dark she was rather pretty. It only made sense, weren't all goddesses pretty? Not only pretty, but she probably knew a lot as well. To think, a conversation with a deity.

Shinda pressed her ears forward as she listened to the others dilemma, her face showing neither glee or empathy to his story. It was an odd concept for her, to imagine being injured in any degree. "Oh? I've caught no trace of hyena scent while in this area. Perhaps now you can consider yourself safe."

With her nails clicking soundly on the stone, Shinda moved forward into the cave. The mortal lion wasn't too far away, but now only a leap away from one another reach. "Does my mortality truly matter in your perception of me?" She tilted her head in bored curiosity to the others question. Then realization dawned on her that she'd not put on her mortal form, the illusion needed to cover her wings. But that was of no importance to her now, already hidden within the cave.

"Whether I take more breaths than you, or you more than me, makes no difference in what we are. So why concern yourself?"

"Perhaps it makes no difference in what we are. We both live, breath, eat, mate, play and learn. But the time which we have available is different, to think of all the places you have seen, and all the things that you know. In that way yes, your mortality changes my perception of you." Lusala settled down onto the floor with a wince. "If you were mortal I would fear that you would try to take advantage of my injured state, if you were mortal I would not be interested in what is between your ears nearly as much."

Sayida canted her head to better listen to the others list of comparisons. It was slightly bemusing to realize just how many of those were true....well, in most cases that is. "You're very perceptive, for one who has gotten himself in such an injured predicament. Such foresight should have been useful in knowing when to avoid your foes and flee. Her left ear flapped against a tickle, and she took a curious step closer as the smell of blood kept drifting to her nose.

"So, you do not fear what is in front of you? Do you not fear me?" How interesting, or perhaps he was too near death and numb against any further fears or stress. And once he sunk further onto the stone floor, she took more confident steps forward until she was but a swipe away from him. "Even immortals need to eat, haven't you been told?" Then she blinked, in a slow manner as if stuck in a dream, and tried to glance just what was in between her own ears. "My mane, is that what you speak of?"

"One cannot always know when a group of hyenas is near. They stay downwind and I can't smell them. They're very unpredictable, sometimes they will run off in the middle of a fight. And it's not that I do not fear you, it's more that if you wished me harm, you would have done so already, and there would be nothing I could do to stop you. And no, I have no special feelings for your mane. I was thinking more along the lines of your thoughts and brains. As opposed to thinking that you're a female and therefore potentially lovely and then thinking of ways to persuade you to spend quality time with me. It's a shame it's so dark in here, I can't see you very well."
