It'd been a week since Azzo's arm had gotten broken in one of those cracked out dreams. He sighed softly as he was standing outside a fabric store. Hoping that Yvette could help him, she was the only seamstress he knew. While Gram's knitting was good it wasn't what this show called for.

Azzo needed a little more finesse, which is where Yvette came in and he had indeed called her. He had mentioned a puppet show and the story The Princess and the Pea, he was hoping she'd be willing to help even.

He was fidgeting, while he was standing there, arm in a sling. His cast was wrapped in a blue gauze to give it a color. If had to wear the dang thing he wasn't going to wear something that was bland and white.

Ever since she was officially tossed into the "real world," Yvette had found herself somewhat missing the days of high school. Her work schedule was still the same one she had from high school, so most days she found her mornings to be quite open. And in all honesty, quite boring.

Mommy still had to go to work, and Daddy, due to his constantly changing work schedule, was frequently asleep during morning hours. Certainly, she could sew, but she didn't really have the budget for it. She no longer needed to assist with the house since Daddy was now functioning properly, but now a majority of her money went to saving for college.

So when she received that phone call from Azzo on her clunky little cell phone, Yvette felt absolutely thrilled. It felt nice to get out and about at a time that wasn't when she was supposed to go to the mall for work. Dressed in a bright blue dress with puffy sleeves and what seemed like a brown apron almost made of a burlap material, she trotted to the bus stop just around the corner from her house. The dark haired girl didn't understand why people were looking at her the way they did while she was riding along on the bus. All she knew was the way those eyes were looking at her made her feel uncomfortable. If it wasn't a bus, Yvette would probably want to curl up into a ball and hide under a seat.

Even the young adult knew better than to do that. This was a public bus, which probably had all sorts of disgusting things hiding under the seat. Not to mention she was probably too big to fit under any seat.

At the correct stop, Yvette exited with a slight hop before trotting off to the front of the fabric store. There was a familiar boy standing there. If she had been a boisterous one, she probably would have shouted out his name and waved her whole arm back and forth to get his attention. That, however, was not how this girl functioned. Instead, she merely trotted forward, offering a tiny wave of the hand before eventually stopping immediately next to him.

"H-hi Azzo..." she greeted, eyes immediately drawn to the cast which almost matched her dress in color. She didn't say it, but her expression immediately shifted into something concerned and quietly curious.

Azzo hummed as he waited and when she showed up he tilted his head curiously at her fashion, "Hi Yvette." He said with a chuckle, "Did you make your dress?"

He too vague notice in where her eyes went, the cast. "Heh, never knew Kickboxing could be so dangerous." He said hoping that could quail any bubbling questions as he glanced to his . "Grams wasn't happy either when she found out."

He pulled two books from his messenger bag, "How've you been?" He asked as he also plucked out a pencil and stuck it behind his ear. Lucky him his broken arm wasn't the same he normally used to write with.

Azzo should have known better. He REALLY should have known better. However, the damage had already been done. The girl's cheeks began burning almost a red color the moment he asked his innocent little question. Her voice had completely evaporated in the back of her throat, but he was lucky enough to get a tiny bobble of the head up and down. Apparently, Yvette had made that dress.

He offered an explanation for his arm, and once more her head bobbed up and down. Perhaps it was because she understood what he meant about dangerous kickboxing (though considering Yvette, she probably really didn't know), or perhaps it was the fact she was agreeing that of course Grams would be upset. It was hard to interpret the momentary mute.

As he began to shuffle, the girl seemed to remember where she was at. Within moments, she had reached into her scratchy looking apron's pockets and pulled out a handful of clipped coupons. Even though she wasn't paying for the material, she still couldn't help but bring her piles of coupons with her. It was her Mode of Operation when it came to purchasing cloth. She always brought coupons. As her fingers fussed with her coupons, it seemed her cheeks finally began to cool, and her voice was finally condensing back into something functional.

"...uh... I've been fine... I guess... um... h-how about you?" She didn't feel like expanding on her answer, since talking about a near death experience was never a fun thing. Never ever. Especially when it was over something so stupid.

Azzo prolly should have known better, however the question to him still warranted asking. He watched her nod, and lofted a brow as he watched her face change color before going back to sorting out what he needed.

He caught the next head bob as well, he tried not to chuckle as he was slightly amused with the head bobbing. He humed as he juggled his things, "Want to go inside? It's hard to hold this stuff." He said after a bit with a sigh.

"That's good." He nodded with a smile, he didn't ask either. He didn't always poke in other's business. "I've been alright...." He gave a soft shrug, he left out things that'd happened in the past few months. "Better once my arm is healed up then I can get the puppet show actually going."

The small adult was perfectly fine with standing there. However, Azzo didn't seem to feel the same way, so with a tiny nod, she waited for him to lead them to the automatic doors. The doors rather easily parted to the sides, leaving plenty of room for the pair to wander into the store. For Yvette, it was a familiar sight to see the bolts of brightly colored cloth lining up the aisles. Her features seemed to light up the moment she caught sight of a particular lime green material, the creative wheels in her mind already setting to work.

She stood there for a moment before glancing back to her former classmate, noting how he was awkwardly trying to finagle with his possessions. "Oh, um, letmehelpwiththat!" She held out her hands, as if offering a place for him to put his books down. She momentarily nibbled on her bottom lip, purple eyes watching her friend struggle with his things.

"You know... I don't think I could ever handle breaking my arm... l-like... I've never broken a bone... but like... I think I'd go crazy if I wasn't able to sew or draw..." It was one of those times she wished she was ambidextrous.

Azzo perhaps would've been better with it if he'd had a place to sit things and sort them out. As it was he felt the whole puppet show was going to go to hell because he couldn't conduct it.

With what few odd things he had it was almost impossible for him to get everything straightened out. He paused when Yvette offered to help and smiled, "Sure." He said after a second offering her the princess and the pea book and the cast list he had. "It's awful awkward to try to work with these things using one hand."

Azzo spotted a small bench where there patterns and what looked to be room he could sit his stuff down for a few moments while he gathered his thoughts. "I've had broken ribs...." He said with a pause, "I think despite the fact it's hard to work with things, it's better my arm's broken. The ribs too forever to heal." He seemed thoughtful, "And it hurt to do much of anything."

Really he hadn't thought about it, but it had hurt to do just about anything, at least with a broken arm it still allowed him to move around and what not. "I know the going crazy part. I can't operate puppets with a broken arm." He chuckled, "This throws the schedule I had off a bit."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:22 pm

Azzo's brief mention of his prior broken ribs caused Yvette's lips to form a small upside-down U. Somewhere in her mind she was definitely appreciating her lack of broken bones (despite the blatant presence of a pretty bad allergy). Azzo had broken ribs and now an arm, and Daddy had a broken leg.

"I can't imagine having broken ribs... it sounds like you'd have to sit around a lot..." For a brief moment she remembered that week or so she was in the hospital during December. It had been pretty maddening, and even with all the yarn and crochet hooks in the world, she'd still get really bored really fast.

Her eyes eventually glanced over the book that was now in her hands. Without moving or shifting at all (she was going to be a good table!), she skimmed over the title. The cast list was not something super important to her, since it didn't affect her job at all. In an effort to bring some sort of light to the situation, Yvette offered "Well... maybe planning instead of playing a puppet may help you get through this?" Her lips ceased forming that upside down U to form her usual tiny smile.

"Okay... so Azzo... tell me what you are looking for. Also... um..." There was a slight pause. "Do you have any of the 'cast' here so I can take measurements?" It would have been super convenient of her friend had brought the puppets with him, but at the same time, she could only imagine that it might have been really inconvenient for him to bring them with him in his current condition. Already assuming she had crossed the line, she apologetically spouted out "ImeanIcouldwaitforanothertimetogetmeasurements,it'sokayifyoudon'thavethem..." Azzo's temporary table was wobbling a bit from sheer self-induced embarrassment.

Azzo nodded, "Had to stay in the hospital longer than the rest and then basically had to watch what I moved, or did when I got out. Not fun at all." He was at school with the broken ribs but that didn't really matter much.

Azzo smiled, and nodded to Yvette, "Do you think it'd be better if we set some stuff out over there." He nodded to where the books and things were that had patterns in them. "That way you don't have to hold everything."

He tilted his head, "Honestly Yvette you're the seamstress, as long as it goes with the character. Like a pretty princess dress for the princess." He paused, "I'd be more than happy to let you use your own judgment as to how they should look."

He smiled, "I trust you'll do an excellent job." He paused when she asked about the puppets. He seemed to think before closing his eyes as if he had a stupid me moment, "That's what I forgot." He muttered, watching her wobble. "Woah careful there. It's okay, I should've remembered, I would've had someone else come along if I'd thought about it."

He seemed to be thinking on how they could fix that. "Where would you want to meet to get the puppet's measurements? I mean if you wanted to come over one day to get them or should we meet at the library or something like that?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 6:26 pm

"I... I'm okay...pr-promise..." she murmured quietly as she eventually steadied herself out.

Yet somewhere in Yvette's mind, she disagreed with Azzo's suggestion. Setting his things in the display meant for the books was not something she'd ever do as a customer. If they had tables to the side, then she wouldn't have hesitated, but this wasn't the proper place to set his things down.

Yet, as usual, the girl kept quiet, merely shuffling towards the book display, almost obediently nodding her head to acknowledge what the boy had said. Even in her new location, the girl still held onto the objects, not seeming to relinquish any of the items onto the display.

From their new location, they could see that in the next aisle there were zippers, buttons, multiple spools of brightly colored thread, and several other basic supplies. Cloth was important, but many of these supplies frequently reminded even a knew seamstress that many tools were essential to making an outfit. Her thumbs nervously ran up and down the edges of the book pages, as if something was on her mind. Then out it came.

"What I consider to look nice and what other people consider to look nice are two separate things..." After frequently wearing her own outfit designs and getting weird looks time and again, it would be foolish to think everyone liked the things she liked. "...m-maybe at least colors or something..." she offered almost helplessly. Her thumbs continued to move along the edge of the book as she then sorted to another issue.

"Um... the library.... that's probably best..." The real reason was because she was thinking too much of how her Daddy would react if he ever found out. However, she lamely added "Th-the library is where it's all getting set up, right? S-so... maybe I can see what the scenery and stuff looks like... so it doesn't c-clash or anything..."

"As long as you're okay." Azzo followed and only set two things down before placing his bag back on his shoulder and picking those which he sat down up. He tilted his head, at the displays giving a quick once over at something that had caught his attention. Tilting his head when he noticed the man's outfit displayed for one of the patterns, it seemed sort of like a halloween costume from the Renaissances.

"Hm.... I see." He sat those two pieces down again beside the book that held a pattern that he had seemed interested in. "Honestly I think they're very nice. But if you want I can try to help, I'm no mad scientist on the matter." He paused, "Lets see the book and the notebook I brought. These books might be useful if you'd like to do that. I mean obviously these patterns would be much too large for a regular puppet... but you could play with designs if you had ideas from this?"

He tilted his head curiously as she spoke giving a nod. "Yes the Library, I'll see who I can help with the set building, I've been trying to organize, we could always work the colors around the materials we buy." He smiled, as he said this. "Besides I have plenty of cash on hand for a few different ones, to make sure we have enough material." Azzo made a mental note to scratch down 'get sets built'. "You don't know anyone that could help with building the sets do you? I don't think it'd have to be terribly large, just enough to hide a person or two behind it."

It was a sad fact, but Yvette was a bit of a pessimist. No matter how nice people were to her, no matter how kind their words, for some reason, she always had doubt. Usually doubt in herself. So even with Azzo's kind words, all the girl could do was think He's just saying that to be nice...

For a moment, the girl seemed awkwardly quiet as she listened to her companion ramble on slightly. The moment he mentioned the amount of money (which apparently was plenty), the dark haired girl seemed to wilt slightly. Certainly, he didn't mean anything by it, but for her, it almost felt like a slap to the face since she did not have money enough to just donate to a puppet show. She tried her best to not look too withdrawn. She tried to put a smile on her lips, even if the corners of her mouth seemed to quiver slightly. However, her eyes didn't really want to cooperate and were already looking down, down, down to the objects she was serving as table to.

"W-w-well... um... can you show me what outfits you wanted? I... I'm pretty used to making my own patterns... it's kinda what I do... you know?" Her eyes didn't even look up once.

Azzo hardly ever said anything just to be nice. He thought anything someone else made was pretty or good, heck he'd eat burnt cookies and be happy about them being burnt if they still had some cookie taste.

He nodded flipping through the sections as he looked, pausing lofting a brow at a pikachu pajama set for some little kid, "... Do kids actually wear this?" He asked looking at Yvette. Though he couldn't say much, thinking about the fact Grams use to try to dress him up in puppy pajamas.

He then found a princess outfit, "How about something like this for the princess?" He asked looking back to Yvette, "Maybe put a little of your flare into it?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 17, 2011 12:14 pm

The boy's companion stood on her tip toes and peered towards the book at what he had been looking at, momentarily still quiet. Sadly, Yvette was very deprived when it came to many medias, including television. To her, it just looked like a bunny rabbit made of yellow. "I don't know if kids would wear that nowadays... but when I was growing up, it wasn't a bad thing to have those sorts of jammies... probably younger kids would be more prone to wearing those?"

As her eyes were still on the page for the pajamas, Azzo then changed the page to one more suiting for the puppet show. It definitely was a princess' outfit, complete with one of those pink pointy hats (which Yvette had never understood while growing up). Her mind was already removing that silly hat from the outfit and redesigning a couple key qualities to the gown. "I'll see what I can do... I'll show you sketches when we meet at the library." Oh yes, how the wheels in her mind were already turning, though she already knew in her mind she'd have to make several sketches since she was prone to producing lemons quite frequently.

Tucking the objects she had been holding under her arm, she then proceeded to reach into her apron pockets and pulled out a small pad of paper with a cheap ballpoint pen stuffed in the wire spiral binding. "...what are the other characters you'll be needing again?" Her fingers pulled the pen out from the spiral and soon enough the pen was writing some notes in that little pad.

Azzo chuckled, "Yeah I think Grams had put me in some that looked like Loyal Heart Dog when I was younger..." He frowned slightly at the thought, no wonder she called him pup.

Azzo nodded with a smile, "That sounds good." It would make things easier as he tilted his head at what else was on the page, "Well, there's a Prince, Queen, and King in the book too." He said with another pause, "At least of what you see." It was surprisingly simple for a play. The others he had debated on where more complex and would have taken a lot of customs and preparations.

"I'm hoping this will be painless." He said after a second with a frown, "I'm not sure how well they'll run since I haven't ran one here."
