Masashi was avoiding his siblings today. They wanted to wrestle and he'd just gotten his coat clean. There was no way he was going to roll around in the dust of their den. The nice fresh grass on the other hand was perfect, and clean.
He dashed around pouncing on the various bugs that flew up, disturbed by his enthusiasm. Who'd want to be in the den on such a great day anyway? Luckily his Mom knew where he was so he wasn't too worried about getting into trouble and his Dad was off hunting. Someday Dad was going to teach him to hunt. At least that's what Mom said. Masashi doubted he'd be as fast as his father though.
Masashi caught one of the bugs and let out a gleeful giggle. Wait till Mom and Dad knew he'd caught it. They'd take him hunting more often!

Somehow, just somehow, Kito had managed to slip past his mother's watchful gaze and was all alone. Not really scared or intimidated by how big and wide the land was, the yellow cub trotted through the tall grass, wrinkling his nose and sneezing every now and then. The cub stopped, one paw raised above the ground as he heard laughter, curious the Kito continued on slower, and peeking through the grass saw it was a cub much like himself only blue.
Excited and gleeful, he poked his head through the grass, "Hi there!" he said excitedly. "I'm Kito'dididibibibi! But mama calls me Kito!" he said, tripping over his words.

Masashi jumped in surprise and the captured bug flew away. He pouted in it's direction then turned to the other cub. He was kinda weird looking, with all that long fur over his face and a tuft on his tail. But Masashi thought his markings were neat and yellow was a good color. He'd never seen a lion, but he decided to pretend to not notice all the long fur.
"Hi. I'm Masashi. You've got an awful long name, I think I'll call you Kito too. What're you doing around here?"

Kito grinned in his child-like way, his needle-sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight. "Yeah." he agreed, "I dunno why momma would give me such a long name." His brother had a shorter name that was easier to say, he didn't understand why he would get the hard one.
"I dunno what I'm doing around here..." he said, realizing this dilemma. The cub sat down rather clumsily, his little tail hitting the ground lightly, "I just wandered from my den and just explored I guess." Kito shrugged as much as a lion could shrug. "What're you doing here?"

"I'm pouncing on bugs!" He grinned back, "And I'm avoiding my brother and sister who were trying to get me to wrestle inside with them." He pounced at a beetle and managed to catch it in his paws before it flew away. "Not that I have anything against wrestling, but the floor of our cave is dusty." He said that as if it were a terrible sin.
"I think your mom prolly gave you a long name to grow into? And I don't mind if you want to play around here, I'll even play with you if you want." There was nothing but nice clean grass as far as his short statured little eyes could see, no chance of dust and mud puddles.

Kito's mouth formed into an 'o' and looked at Masashi in awe when he caught the beetle. "You're pretty fast." he commented, walking over to him, thinking that if he kept close to the little cheetah, he too would get fast.
"Dust isn't that bad, silly." he laughed, his little tail kicking up dust here and there. Kito stopped for a moment, thinking about Masashi's comment, "Maybe..." he said thoughtfully, "Do you think...I would grow up to be a biiiig strong lion?" the yellow cub grinned hopefully, suddenly thinking about all the things he could do once he was a grown-up.
"I would like to play with you!" he grinned, eagerly getting ready to pounce.

"Thanks, I've been practicing my pouncing a lot." Masashi was very proud of his pouncing skills thus far. He'd been practicing ever since his mother had shown him how. However, there was one bone of contention. "Ugh I don't like dust! I don't like mud either. In fact, I don't like being dirty at alllll. It's awful." He edged away from the little cloud of dust that Kito had brought up with that strangely tufted tail.
"As for being a biiig strong lion. Mom always tells me I can be whatever I want to be. So if you put your mind to it, I'm sure you can be the biggest, strongest lion ever." Whatever a lion was. Maybe some sort of warrior class?
When Masashi saw Kito get into pouncing position he grinned happily and took off running. "You'll have ta catch meeee!"
