It seems to me that people in modern day society aren't afraid of death (or an afterlife),but the pain of dying, they just mistaken it as death.Anyone agree?

People seem to be more afraid of being deprived of earthly pleasures and pursuits.

Lost Musical Meanings It seems to me that people in modern day society aren't afraid of death (or an afterlife),but the pain of dying, they just mistaken it as death.Anyone agree? Well, your going to die at some point no matter what you do; that's a fact. To be afraid of something that will happen is illogical. It's like being afraid of the sun rising... You better get used to it because it will happen. But how you die is unknown. There are many ways to die. Some painful, some not. So to have a grater fear for pain then death is quite logical. Plus painful activities tend to lead to death. So to fear them is a dubble plus.

I fear death. I fear Hell, and if I'll go there.
Hey, anyone believe in Heaven/Hell/Purgatory/other?
If so, do you believe that the government, at times, relies heavily upon religion and fear of otherworldly punishment to stop them from commiting crimes, at all? It seems like that to me, sometimes, but just wondering about your own thoughts...

I fear death.
But not because of the pain, or death itself.
I'm afraid of the suffering I will cause others that care about me.
But you can't control death, sadly.
