Night had fallen over Kodo when the Rockets took off from base. Only a scant few silver lined clouds bathing in the moonlight with stars scattered through the sky.
It was obscenely early in the morning, and once again a small raid team had found themselves aboard a chopper and heading for a location unknown to all except the two elites in the cockpit. One of which was piloting the aircraft as it cut through the chill night air. The ride had been hours long, and at least one grunt had fallen asleep during the course of the flight, trying to save his energy for the coming mission. His hat pulled low over his visored face while slumped in his chair.
The waves of the ocean passed swiftly below, reflecting the moon and its accompanying pin pricks of light. It wasn't until a little after two thirty in the morning that an island was finally visible in the distance and Seth's voice came over the loudspeakers in the cabin of the helicopter.
"We're approaching the raid site. All hands prepare for landing."

After the announcement from the Elite, a hand reached over to touch Will's shoulder, to rouse the grunt from his sleep. The hand belonging to a young women dressed in grunt uniform with dark blond hair, pulled back in a high tight ponytail, hazel eyes glancing around the cabin of the helicopter, at the team for the raid, observing their reactions before she glanced back over toward Will to see if he had woken up. "You might want to be awake for this Will."
She wasn't sure what to expect this time around with this mission, things were very top secret since the Galatics had been showing up on their missions. but usually it was good practice to not assume anything on these missions, they tend to be full of unexpected events.

Will hadn't been the only one to slip into sleep. Mau had his back against the hull of the chopper, his head tilted to his chest, legs stretched as far out as he could get them, and his arms folded across his chest. The voice over the speaker made the tanned man open an eye. It wasn't so much irritated at being awake, but a little irked at how long it took to get here. With a shift he sat up and arched some, his spine protesting having been in such a pose for so long and popped as it realigned itself. He grumbled something to the effect of 'it's about time.'

Isadora's heart began pounding as the announcement came over the intercom inside the large helicopter. She could feel her palms sweating and she hastily wiped her hands on her uniform pants. It was not often that the psychologist wore her Team Rocket Grunt uniform, and it was even less often when she had a chance to go on an actual raid. Despite her slight apprehension at attending an illegal act such as a raid within a crime syndicate, it was required of her, and so she complied.
Isa's own slumber was very short and fitful, as she could hardly ever fall asleep within moving vehicles. She shook herself awake at the call to action, and she ran her fingers through her short, sea-foam colored hair. She unconsciously moved to adjust her glasses, but she found none. In case of any risk of losing some rather important possessions she had, her glasses included, the doctor opted to wear contacts for this mission. The contacts were a strange phenomenon to her, and it took a while for her eyes to adjust to the change. She only hoped that her slight change of tactic would not impair her on this very important raid.
Reassuringly patting the two Pokeballs at her belt, Isadora stretched her arms and sighed, resigning herself to what was to pass. "Ohkay... I thihnk Ih'm readeh."

The disembodied voice drew the attention of violet eyes to the loudspeaker - or one of them, at least - and Claire relaxed against the inner wall of the helicopter with a small sigh. Everything felt stiff from the long ride but she adamantly refused to sleep, instead opting to check her pokedex to study the moves of her Glaceon to see if any of them would be useful. She thought she'd had plenty of time to train her and teach her new moves, but the time between being chosen for the raid and when they left was much too short to do much of anything. That's what happened when they kept the missions top secret.
She slipped the device into a pocket, glancing at Isadora as she spoke. If it hadn't been for her unique hair, she wouldn't have recognized the psychologist without her glasses. "You nervous?" She asked, shifting slightly to face her a bit better.

It seemed another person had also taken the time to get some sleep on the long trip. Agent Nyx had slumped over some time after she fell asleep and ended up with her head leaning against Agent Mau's shoulder. The loudspeaker hadn't woken up the white haired scientist, but Mau's stretching did. "Mrrrggmph..." She protested to her makeshift-person-pillow deciding to move around and opened an eye. "Are we there yet?"
Nyx sat up and yawned. Her bottom was numb, as well as her left foot, and her hands, but that was to be expected from sitting in one place for hours. She'd be un-numb and ready by the time the helicopter landed.

Alexander had been awake the entire trip and staring out the window. The ride hadn't bothered him nor had the time of night. There had been many times where he had needed to travel at night before so he had caught a nap before they had left. He looked back into the chopper when he heard Seth's announcement and scanned the Rockets in there with him. He didn't know any of them personally, at least from what he could see in the mostly dark area, but it might be good to make sure they were awake.

The ocean spread out in all directions like a rippling swath of satin, highlighted here and there by a frothy wave or a breaching Wailmer. It was an impressive, humbling sight, one worthy of attention and awe.
After the first twenty miles, Nadja had found her sense of awe quite sated.
She continued to watch nonetheless, leaning over her armrest with chin in hand. Now and then her half-lidded eyes would occasionally flutter shut, then open a few moments later and shift toward the elite at her left. One hand cradled a small bag; from within, a blue glow suffused through the fabric.
At the announcement she straightened and stretched discreetly, shifting her shoulders as she arched her back. "Mm."
"Now is a good time for questions."

Isadora glanced over to her frequent visitor at her office, who, in the current situation, was her teammate on this mission. She smiled nervously and gave a little chuckle. "Wehll, Ih'm not completeleh sure yet. Thehre's a first tihme f'r everything, I suhppose." She shifted herself into a more comfortable sitting position and slouched her back, resting her elbows on her knees. "Ih'm juhst hopin' everythin' goes wehll, is ahll."
"An' whaht about you, Claire? Is thihs your fihrst raid, too?" Isadora sincerely hoped that she was not the only one who was inexperienced in such things. Having another person alongside her would be much more reassuring than being left in the dust by all the other Grunts and Agents.

The steady tump, tump, tump of the helicopter blades echoed the rhythm of his heart as they grouped closer to their destination. What their destination was, he was not privy to know, but he knew that wherever it was it was his destiny to go there. Liam had been thinking about destiny lately. It was rarely far from his mind since his... 'accident.' Destiny, it seemed, had greater plans for him than t die by rogue crystal bullet. Destiny, it seemed wanted him to be on this helicopter tonight. Destiny had also chosen his companions on this ride. Several people he didn't know, but some were those he considered friends from the base: Nyx, Faleen, Mau, Claire... and others. Their destinies were all intertwined with his in ways he couldn't yet see. He had a feeling tonight would bring part of that destiny into crystal clear perspective. He breathed in and out, calming his nerves for what he knew would be a hard journey ahead.

"It'll be fine," she said, offering a small reassuring smile as she sat up and stretched her back as she hummed lightly. A hand reached down to check that the three pokeballs at her side were still securely clipped to her belt, then slid along to the front to make sure her balisong was in its place on the inner side of her belt.
"First? No," she admitted, leaning back against the wall as she went over the events of her first raid in her mind. "I was on the mission to the PokeBall in December. I broke my arm," explained the young woman as she vaguely and absently moved her left arm to reference that as the previously broken appendage. "This is your first mission?"

Early to bed, early to rise, as the saying went. Or, stay up all night and well into the next day with the intent to fulfill an important mission. Lucas was much more accustomed to the latter, and so he had spent the wee hours preparing himself and his small team. The ride itself found him sitting with his head leaned back, eyes closed in contemplation rather than in slumber. It seemed that it had been ages since he had last been on a proper mission, even though his memories of missions past were fresh in his mind. He drew a long breath at the sudden announcement from the loudspeakers, leaning forward in preparation for the landing and sweeping over the cabin's occupants with his blue gaze. Will, Faleen, Claire, Isadora, Nyx... The rest, strangers. Lucas was unaccustomed to working with such a large group. It was sure to prove an interesting morning.

Soon enough the island was in full view and the helicopter came to hover over it. Below the island seemed to consist of rocky cliffs with sparse vegetation.
The whine of the helicopter's engine started to die down as they descended towards a flat area near the edge of a cliff. Seth glancing at Nadja as she spoke, but saying nothing further for the moment. His face was set neutrally, although the ridged way he sat betrayed his tension. After what happened during the last raid, he was rather on edge concerning this one. There was no guarantee that Team Galactic wouldn't show up and try to steal another legend out from under them.
Will lifted his head as he felt Faleen's hand on his shoulder, and sat up to stretch. "I'm awake," he told her with a wane smile just as the helicopter touched down with a dull thud.
The chopper blades began to slow and the all clear was given for everyone to exit and assemble in front of the vehicle.

"Ah, you wehre at the bahll, mm? Interehstin'. Wehll..." Isadora frowned a bit and looked down sheepishly at her feet. So... no newbie-companions for her. She remembered Lucas was with them as well, and she looked up to glance at him for a moment. A thought passed through her head, wondering if this was Lucas's first raid or mission, but... something made her doubt that it really was.
The helicopter finally landed, and Isadora saw that they were on a small, isolated island in the middle of the ocean. An odd start to the breaking day, but the surprise of it snapped her awake and made her ready for action. The signal was given for the Rockets to exit the helicopter, and Isadora did as they were bidden, exiting their mode of transportation and standing at attention on the land, patiently awaiting orders.

By the time the helicopter had finished its descent, Liam was already on the ground grabbing his knee and grimacing. Way for him to assume the initial shock was the helicopter landing and jumping out ahead of time. Fortunately, by that time they were a mere foot or two off the ground and the impact was minimal and he was able to get away with a few minor bruises and a scraped knee and hands. Nothing he couldn't live with, especially this close to his destiny . He could practically feel the tension in the air, a tingling that danced along his skin like an electric current. As everyone hurried out of the helicopter, he smiled and waved in their general direction of the people pouring out. Tears formed at the corners of his eyes but not, for the first time, only for the sharp pain and not his own fear of being seen as clumsy by his compatriots. This time, he knew what he was doing and nobody's stares would cause him to back down.
