SO UM, yeah. HMC is one of the three movies (With Corpse Bride and Wallance & Gromit).
So what do you think? Do you think it'll win? Do you want it to win? DISCUSS.
Personally, I really don't think that HMC should recieve a Oscar. Everything is gorgeous and all, and it got off to a really good start, but then the second half of the movie kind of made me go "...Huh?"
I like the movie. It's just that the second half just had me utterly confused, like "WHY IS SOPHIE TRAVELING THROUGH TIME". The introduction of the prince at the end just seemed really forced and rushed to me; along with Howl's comment on Sophie's hair that "YOUR HAIR IS LIKE THE STARS. biggrin "
Of course I am probably prejudiced because I have read and love the book SO UM. Yeah.

I haven't seen any of them, though I wanted to see Howl's Moving Castle and Corpse Bride. I can't really bring much of an opinion. crying

Of those three, I've only seen The Corpse Bride... and it definitely isn't Oscar-worthy. Really, it's only proof that Tim Burton doesn't know that crack is wack.

Japser Morello looks good. It just appeals to that part of me that's overly morbid and dark. heart

Well... I haven't seen ANY of the movies, but I'm here are my rankings based on what I've heard from people who've actually seen the movies:
1. HMC 2. W&G 3. TCB
Yes, I'm too lazy to type out the titles in full.

I never got to see HMC or W&G. I did see Corpse Bride, and while it was good, it wasn't oscar-worthy. I was very surprised that HMC didn't get a wide theatrical release (It never came to Dallas, hence me not seeing it). One would think, after Spirited Away was so popular, that they would go ahead and release the next Miyazaki film like a regular movie, but no. If there was some legal reason behind this, I'd like to know, but it was still upsetting, especially considering that Dallas is a major US city with a huge anime following (for pete's sake, how many other cities have two cons every year?). *ahem* Anyways, I just somehow never got around to seeing W&G, though I'm sure it was good.
I just went through all of that to say that I don't really have an opinion on which one should win, as I've only seen one of the three.

I saw Corpse Bride two days ago. Honestly, I expected much more, but I still liked it. I thought some of the dead characters were highly unecessary. I liked it, however it wasn't exactly Oscar worthy.
Now, if they had an Oscar for Best Animated Feature when The Nightmare Before Christmas was made, then the Oscar would have surely went to Mr. Burton. 3nodding
