Riley had made it to Jericho's dorm room in record speed. Unfortunately, the door wasn't open. This meant she had to stand there, at the door, and wait for him.

She wasn't very good at waiting.

She had tried jiggling the knob a few times, before just bashing into it in hopes she could break it. Neither worked, and she was currently scratching her claws against the door pitifully.

Then.. she heard it.

It was as if they could smell her. She tugged the hat off of her head and stared down the hallway, her eyes slitting in a mixture of horror and anger.

"Meow."

Jericho.. Jericho hurry up already..

Jericho wasn't too far behind Riley, though he had to slow down here and there due to there being... random cannon cats showing up in his path. He didn't know what the Jack was going on there, but now wasn't really the time to sit and think about that.

Once he was in his hall, he saw the Mindflayer standing outside his door.

"Riley, if you wanted to see me that badly, I was in that class," he teased with a grin.

Reaching the door, he unlocked and stepped in, leaving it open for her to come on in as well.

"Come in?"

Shut up shut up shut up just open the door and - THANK JACK.

She burst through his door before he could even fully come in, and slammed her back against it to close it roughly. Then, as quickly as she could, she started undressing.

I need to borrow some clothes. A shirt and some pants will do, but I need them quick.

She froze when she heard scratching on the door, and pushed herself away from it, throwing her hat at it.

A tiny white paw sneaked through the crevice at the bottom of the door. It's nail caught on the hat, and it tried to pull it back with it.

Jericho.. go get me a shirt. Right. Now.

Whirling around after Riley nearly collided into him, he stared at her while wondering what in Halloween had gotten into her! She seemed fine for a good portion of the class as far as he could tell. Perhaps disgruntled with Charlie, but nothing like this.

And for a moment or so, Jericho just stared in shock as she started to throw her clothes off.

"Um.. Right," he blinked while stepping back to fetch some things for her. He was starting to wonder if that wardrobe had knocked him out and this was some bizarre dream...

Returning to Riley, he offered her a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a belt... figuring the pants wouldn't really fit her all that well. He had another set for himself, since he didn't really want to stick around in the outfit he had on currently either for that matter.

"Mind explaining what's going on?" he asked while changing his own clothing.

Riley had already taken off the hat, jacket, all the accessories, and the boots, and held them carefully above the hot pit of lava when Jericho returned. She flung them in, and backed away. That was way too hot for her.

I'll explain in a minute. Just.. She grabbed the clothing out of his hands, and took a minute to examine what she was given. The shirt was long, and she immediately dropped it over her head. It stopped at mid-hip. She hadn't put her arms in the shirt, however, because she was busy undoing the straps of the cannon cat top from inside. With a few struggling movements, she finally tugged the top out, and dropped it. An audible rip could be heard when she pulled the skirt off with her bare claws, and then picked up Jericho's jeans.

Really? I mean really? She grumbled, as she held them up. She would trip over herself repeatedly if she dared put them on. Instead, she chose to use the belt and tie it around the shirt, making it more of a dress. Then she took the cannon cat skirt and top, and returned to the lava. Her eyes winced at the heat, but she held it up regardless.

Okay. Open the door.

The meowing had gotten louder.

It didn't take long for Jericho to get dressed into something that was more along his style. Leaving the other outfit in a pile on the floor, he looked towards the door as he heard the loud meowing on the other side. It sounded like there was a whole pride out there.

Something was strange with the cats today. Or at least right now.

"Open the door?" he repeated with a raised brow, "Should I get ready to do some barbequeing?"

Regardless, he went on towards the door and slowly opened it. He was slightly wary about what might happen.

You probably won't have to. But you're welcome to try.

That was the end of their conversation, as the door was opened and an army of cannon cats shot through, heading in leaps and bounds towards Riley. She held the outfit as far away from herself as possible, waiting on the last possible minute..

..and then dropped it into the lava and backed away.

Sure enough, the cats jumped headfirst into the lava with the outfit, diving so eloquently that they poofed out of existence before even hitting the lava. Somehow, they weren't getting the hint that jumping meant disappearing, and so in they went.

On, and on, and on, until the herd had thinned down to a trickle.

When the ordeal had passed, Riley took a deep breath in, and sagged in relief. Then, she walked over to Jericho, and finally noticed that he had changed while she was busy getting rid of the cannon cats. In the most casual of voices, she leaned back on her heels and asked.

"So, how are you?"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 9:25 pm

When the cannon cats rushed straight into his room, Jericho jumped out of the way to avoid getting trampled by the lot. With a furrowed brow, he watched as they all dove straight into his lava. The cats didn't seem to be all that intelligent (or perhaps they were simply suicidal) as one by one they jumped to their doom.

After the last cat had gone off, the dragon stood there staring at Riley in silence for a moment or so.

"..Kind of hungry now that the room smells like cooked meat," he said plainly while looking at her for some sort of explanation for all of this. It wasn't every day that a Mindflayer would be hounded down by a large group of cannon cats... which all just decide to go diving into a lava pool to their doom.

"..Yourself?"

Now that the danger had passed, she made herself comfortable on the pile of treasure, plopping down carefully. Oh, you know. Same as usual. Cursed to be haunted by a plague of brightly colored cats until the end of my days. Nothing new. She waved her arms in the air dismissively, before dropping them on her face.

Ugh. I don't know what I did, Jericho. I really don't. They just.. follow me. They find me. I've taken to letting Cthulhu loose in my room, and locking my other pets away in my bedroom - just so it can hunt the vermin cats if they ever get in. It's done a wonderful job so far, I've never found one in there.. but still. They're a menace. A happy, excited, menace.

She said all of this while her arms were on her face, and finally let them drop. I kind of hope that was all of them.. Merope's costume choice may have lured their masses out. It would be nice to think that I might be finally rid of them.. but I remain pessimistic.

Jericho went on to sit next to Riley on his treasure pile, listening to her odd tale.

"A cat infestation. That's a first," he mused before grinning, "Are their brains no good or something? I thought you'd like a constant fresh supply of the stuff."

His golden eyes drifted over to the lava pool, thinking for the moment, "Though if anyone is going to be haunted it might just be me... seeing how this room is the place of their death."

"But I gotta say, that was a lot of cats so I think you might not have to worry about them for a good while."

Jericho heard what might possibly be the strangest thing he would ever feel/hear in her entire life. It sounded like a jumble of words and emotions, all slammed together and shoved into one single thought. It felt a lot like this-

()@$&IRJHLWKHF:SLKRU@)(%Y@$OIH@O

NO. She finally managed to erk out. I would never. NEVER. Even THINK to eat one of those. They already follow me everywhere, but if I ingested one.. if it's mind became a part of me.. I don't think I'd ever- here she gagged, and it was a physical sound that came from her tentacles. All of them. -ever be able to live with myself. No. Just no.

She shuddered once, and blocked the thought from her mind. Her hands clenched into the treasure pile she was laying against, and brushed through the coins and various shinies, letting them slide through her fingers and distract her.

Twitching from the strangest 'sound' he's heard, Jericho shook his head as it also felt weird. It wasn't particularly pleasant either for that matter and it jumbled his own thoughts briefly. Once he was able to collect them again, he looked towards Riley as there was one thing there that stood out to him.

"The mind of something you eat merges with your own?"

It wasn't something he knew of Illithids beforehand. And it made him wonder just what that was like. Though, that may explain why he had heard stories of Mindflayer preferring brains of intellectuals... Over all, there was very little that he knew of them aside from what was relatively common knowledge.

Answering that question was difficult, so she hedged for a moment as she tried to explain. Not.. exactly? There is a sort of essence that is left behind but.. for the most part, what I mean is that eating it's brain would have me digesting it for nutrients. This would then have it's physical body matter turned into material that would be used for my own body, much like any nutrient filled meal would. You know?

She adjusted the shirt slightly, so that it didn't ride up and become inappropriate. Thank Jack for long shirts. The last thing I want is to have any part of one of those, in any part of me. They already somehow can sense my presence. Ugh. I'm almost tempted to consider transferring schools just to get away from them.. if I didn't think they would follow me there.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:53 pm

Well that made more sense, and he could get a better idea of why she didn't want those creatures as a part of her. However, her words had the red dragon concerned to some extent.

"You know, this isn't the first time I've heard you say something like that... Are you really that unhappy at this school?" he asked while looking over at the Mindflayer. Then again, she did seem to strike up a fair amount of misfortune from what he knew. Aside from the cannon cats, there was the whole thing with Calder. Not to mention the Christmas Trip.

"Though I gotta wonder what it is about you that draws them to you. You might be able to make an army of them if they do end up sticking by," he grinned.

I refuse to try and coerce them into any sort of army. They are terrible, brightly colored creatures and I wish them all death. The finality in her words made it clear that she -had- considered using them as an army.. and the cons outweighed the pros.

She shoved herself up just a bit, moving herself closer to Jericho and laying on her side. One arm propped her head up. I don't like admitting this, Jericho, because it would break my heart to leave those I truly care about. But the truth is.. everyone would probably be better off if I hadn't come here. So yes. Sometimes I'm very unhappy with being at this school. She let out a quick, harsh sigh, and toyed with a few coins in front of her. I'd be less unhappy if I cared less. It is in the act of wanting to be here, that I find myself increasingly unhappy about it. She looked up at him, her eyes slitting in amusement. Hurry up and make me hate you already. That will help.
