In order to gain access to the castle one must enter through the courtyard. It covers a large percentage of the land available to the vampires. Four guard towers dot the walls, two at the gate, and the other two towards the doorways into the foyer. The high walls are nearly impossible to penetrate; certain precautions have been taken to assure it remains that way. Inside the gates of the courtyard the majority of the outside amenities are found. All types of flowers and plant life grow upon the edges of the stone walls and two large and elaborate fountains have been placed on either side of the courtyard; both of which are engraved with angelic symbols—almost in a mocking gesture. Stone benches are placed strategically so that if one wishes to enjoy a view of the fountains, flowers, and wildlife they would be able to do so easily. A vast pool stretches the length of the middle portion of the courtyard, the water is dark and ominous; is it for entertainment, décor, or possibly something more? Two statues of the angel, Gabriel, stand proudly on each side of the pool; despite the wear of time upon the marble. Finally at the very back is the grand, black staircase that grants you entrance into the Vampire Lair—what will you find within?

Malkalinos entered the courtyard, and immediately began surveying the surroundings. He noticed every strategic entry point, and every weakness in the defenses along the wall. He had no fear of an actual attack of course; it was simply a habit he had developed as a tactician. The courtyard was oddly empty which troubled him. This strange new home seemed less inviting than he had originally assumed. "Perhaps everyone is inside," he said to himself. He hefted his bag over his shoulder. He carried few belongings, but still he like to have the contents of his bag nearby. Nobody really knew what was inside other than some vials he used to keep the poison coating on his polearm fresh. Leon decided not go inside just yet though, he casually strolled over to a nearby bench and sat down. He decided to stay out in the courtyard for a little while and enjoy the peace that he had finally found.

After a few minutes Malkalinos picked up his bag and left his cozy bench. He slowly made his way into the castle to settle into his new home.

Arrea observed the newcomer from a window within the castle. She and Alexandre were the only ones within the faction right now, though he was out on assignment. She eyed him curiously, seeing the intricate thoughts through the reactions on his face. She concluded he was a rather intelligent vampire. He sat and enjoyed the artificial light for awhile, she was unsure how much time had passed. Vampires could go into a sort of suspended animation, which isn't exactly what it is but as close as one can get to describing it. After her study he seemed he would fit in here. He made his way into the castle and she left her perch at the window to greet him.

Vergius entered the courtyard and was stunned by the architecture. It looked like it was made about a century ago. The cracks in the wall seems to have bothered him. He tried to knock on it but it didn't make a bulge even with his vampire powers multiplying his strength. He looked at the far end of the courtyard but it was getting dark and made it impossible to see. Vergius still hasn't mastered his vampire powers yet and so he still couldn't sense perfectly in the dark. A black bat came out of his cape then whispered in his ear. The bat flew straight to the darkness while Vergius followed. After a while he ended up near a black staircase that he doesn't know where it leads. He wasn't sure if he should continue or to go back. He waited for someone to approach him. The bat whispered, "Go now. You can find the answer you are looking for. You will meet an empress, she might know the answer" Although the bat has already spoke, Vergius was still unsure.

Stepping from the shadows not far from the newcomer Alexandre smiled, his vampiric fangs glinting in the fading light. "Hello there young one, is there something that our little family can do for you?" Alexandre asked, his crimson eyes pulsing, his skin holding the warm glow of one who had just fed. Tilting his head to the side Alexandre studied the youngling standing before him, "go on boy, enter the lair. See what we have to offer, see that we can provide safety and a family for you when you have been outcast by so many others." Alexandre's voice was like silk sliding over his body, to someone who was more skilled they might notice that he was using his gift of charm on the youngster. "Come enter our world and learn that there is much more here than what other have to offer." Alexandre held out his right hand to the boy in front of him as he moved to stand at the edge of the staircase.

Vargius became a little frightened of the man standing in front of him but there was something about him that made Vargius grab his right hand. Vargius said,"I almost forgot, my name's Vargius. I'm new to this vampire thing so I need someone who could teach me. I have a mentor but he didn't have much to teach me" He looked at the bat, who now sat in his shoulder. Vargius gave the bat the -can I trust this guy?- look in his face. The bat was far too tired to talk, it just flapped its left wing in front of stranger, saying -yes. yes, this guy could be trusted- so Vargius went upstairs

Vargius rushed down the staircase, hoping he would find the empress in the courtyard but on his way down he bumped over a girl who was smoking. He didn't mind the smell of smoke but the only thing that bothered him is that the one smoking was a female. The staircase is only one-way which means that only one of them can pass through. Vargius was ready to push down the girl but that would be rude. "Mind coming up first?" He asked. Vargius went back up then waited for the girl to follow him.
Vargius thought of becoming a bat so that he could fit through the space but he remembered what happened back at the dining hall. Instead of becoming a bat, he grew large bat wings. He whistled twice then his bat came from the dining hall. Vargius whispered, "Go check out this girl. Analyze her if she's a friend or a foe" the bat flew down the staircase but hid in the shadows so he wouldn't be seen. From there the bat scanned the girl. It flew back up then it whispered, "It seems that she's a half-breed. Don't worry. She's friendly" Vargius heaved in relief then waited for her to go up the stairs

Vargius smiled at the girl's question. "I can't. The staircase is way to small." Vargius didn't want to be rude and leave the girl all alone. He could just find the empress after she accompanied the girl. "My names Vargius, whats yours" Vargius asked. He didn't like the idea of accompanying a girl if He didn't at least know her name.
In a blink of an eye, the heat of the cigarette that was in the girl's mouth went out. Causing smoke to come out. Vargius tried to smile then said, "I don't like the smell of smoke" Vargius called back his bat wings so it wouldn't get in the way. The second time he tried to call back his wings didn't hurt him. it seems that there's already space.
Vargius waited for the girl until she could go up the stairs so he could accompany her. Even though Vargius just got to the Vampire Lair he already memorized all the paths, ways and rooms. He had a photographic memory and of course he wandered the whole lair before using his speed.

Vargius forced a grin, "Nice to meet you Yuko". He held out his hand then asked, "Want me to accompany you?" there was something about her that made Vargius' left eye twitch for a second. It might be the cigarette or it's because one of his side is saying -don't waste you're time with her. Go find the empress-. Vargius tried to pat his head with his free hand to try to shake off the thought of leaving Yuko behind.
Vargius whistled again then the bat that was hiding from the shadow approached him. Vargius simply titled his head then the bat went on ahead. It seems like the bat understood all of Vargius' signs. He gave Yuko an ominous look while she wasn't looking. Of course entering a vampire castle when you're new then suddenly a vampire appears and introduces himself and offering to help does sound a little weird. It may make that person think that the vampire is planning something but Vargius is a different vampire. He wouldn't do something like that

The Solar Aeon stepped toward the outer layer of the vampire lair. Her elaborate, porcelain cloak trailed behind her and despite the leaves and debris on the ground it did not dirty. She did not enter their territory, merely stood at the very edge of it. She was able to sense the energies within this place, they howled outward from within---a beast waiting to be unleashed upon the world. Vampires had always been fascinating creatures, corrupted by an incurable virus that tainted their hearts and minds. Her sapphire eyes surveyed the lands, the false light reflecting against them; they seemed to be glowing in this dim setting. Her sight fell upon a window, she noticed figures and shapes within the frames. She frowned, how she pitted them so.
She moved to the front gates, a giant gust of wind rattled the decor of her clothing and snapped her thick, red mane from her face. The Solar Aeon knew that the barrier around this place had detected her presence, it was warning her. She knew well the repercussion of entering an area that was forbidden to others so she remained where she was. She closed her eyes, searching through the catalog of auras found within this place. She focused on the one she had been ordered to find...Vargius. She summoned an orb of energy, she brought it to her painted ruby lips and whispered something into the swirling mass of blue light. It was only visible to the one it sought out, no others could see it or hear it's message.
Vargius, I'm waiting for you.
The orb carried this message, the sound trailing through the air...attempting to reach the one it's master had commanded it to locate. So it wandered, hoping a forlorn hope within this dreary palace.
