Fav. Food: Johnathan's pretty much a garbage disposal, but he loves Italian food the most. Anything with noodles in a garlic sauce is enough to send him to hog heaven. He'd live and die by garlic noodles if he could. Easy to prepare and dammit, garlic smells fantastic.
Hated Food: Microwave ready meals.While he doesn't have anything against these foods taste-wise, he believes there are majorly icky chemicals in them and home-cooked meals are much better for you anyway! Microwave meals were created by the pirate menace in order to make would-be ninjas unhealthy so the pirate overlords could take over land and sea! (Only not really).

Papercraft - Many an hour has been devoted to crafting things out of paper. In his early years, it was simply paper footballs and whatever else he could learn how to make in elementary and middle school. Once his manual dexterity caught up with his feverish mind, Johnny dove head-first into origami. He started with paper cranes and the like and currently has several books on more elaborate designs. Not only is it something to do to keep one's hands busy, Johnny loves papercraft because he ends up with an item at the end. It's not so much the fancy paper he craves for origami so much as the actual process that fascinates him. He's taken to making paper shuriken in his spare time and has quite a collection of weaponry for use against the evil pirate overlords in case of invasion.
Taking Care of the House - Since his father's illness became too much for him to handle, Johnathan has been taking a great deal of the day-to-day care of the house, including cooking and cleaning. This works very well because of Johnathan's disinterest in most (conventional) sports. He could come straight home, do homework and then prepare dinner for the family. Johnny actually likes to cook and clean, so he definitely considers it a hobby and a joy. He'll even be happy to come to your house to clean! A clean house represents a clean mind, and besides, it's very helpful to people and makes them happy. He'll usually sing, dance or both while he's cleaning or cooking and generally makes a game or a mission out of it. Cooking allows him to try out new recipes and since he's usually on top of all the cleaning and laundry, there isn't a great deal to keep up with. And besides, it gives him an excuse to wear his "I AM NINJA" apron while in the kitchen.
All Things Ninja - This is an obsession that started with old kung-fu movies made in the 1970's. Johnny's father is a fan of Bruce Lee and ever since Johnny was exposed to that which is ninja, he's been hooked. It was thought that he would outgrow it, but this has been since proven wrong. Johnny collects everything he can, from Ninja Turtles to bandannas just so he can cut holes in them to make ninja masks. He even wears dark clothing outside and hides in trees to surprise the pirate incursion that's supposedly invading his neighborhood. It's a world of fantasy that Johnny resides in, but since he hasn't seriously hurt anyone with it, most people pay him no mind. In Johnny's mind, though, he's totally a Kaze Sushisama Ryuken Ninja from the Sukiyaki Clan. He's an internet meme whore and wholeheartedly subscribes to the "Pirate vs. Ninja" war. He doesn't know a lick of Japanese and just strings the random words he knows together to make ninja battle cries and whatnot. Most think it's just cute roleplaying, but being a ninja is a full time job. Johnny uses his ninja-ness as a means of coping with the responsibilities he has at home and his father's illness.
Virtues:
Positive - Generally speaking, Johnny is a glass half-full kind of guy. He tends to look at the positive side of situations and offer things like, "Well, it could be worse!" in order to brighten the mood. Setbacks are usually minor (no matter how major they may actually be) and tasks are simply missions with some fun and games tacked on. Like anyone, he's been known to slum around in the dumps or have a bad day on occasion, but his moods don't tend to last very long. He'd rather be out brightening someone else's bad day than dwell on his own. He's always wearing a smile and has a groove in his step, singing and dancing his way through life. He always finds it's more productive and fun to be happy and upbeat than depressed and mopey. Besides, with as much responsibility as he has, a little sunshine would never hurt.
Productive - Why? For a sheer love of doing. Whether it's cleaning, homework, giving you a back massage, washing your car's interior, Johnny loves to work. He loves getting things done. He's happiest when he's being productive, and really doesn't like to have nothing to do. If he's lacking homework or housework, he's usually working on his papercraft or is hanging out in a tree with a telescope, spying on potential land pirates across the street. If something needs doing, he's likely on it as soon as possible. Homework gets done in a timely manner, laundry is being washed or folded before it has time to be stale, and if you needed your favored show Tivo'd, you can bet it's been set long beforehand. If there's simply nothing else to do, Johnny's mind tends to get the better of him and he goes hog-wild into spazzy ninjamode. Being productive keeps him focused and most importantly, out of other people's hair!
Helpful - Do you need assistance with your homework? Help dragging all your stuff home? An extra hand around the house? Johnny is your guy. He loves to be helpful in general because it brings smiles to people's faces and they generally appreciate the assistance. He doesn't try to take it personally if he isn't thanked for his help (as not everyone will think to thank him, and he's not doing it simply for the appreciation). He simply loves being there for someone when they need it. If you're the solo-flier type and you explain this to him, he'll of course back off. Still, if you look like you're struggling trying to carry all those books home, he'll frown at you and follow you around until you offer to let him carry at least one thing. He understands some people simply like to do things on their own merit, but nearly breaking your arm just to carry something is a bit much. When he's in the "you look like you need help" mode, then he tends to be a bit grating and irritating until you give in and allow him to help.
Kind - Johnny certainly doesn't do anything to hurt anyone on purpose, and has a generally kind disposition to him. He doesn't go out of his way to put anyone down, to hurt anyone or to upset anyone. He doesn't make fun of people for any reason and would go out of his way to defend someone who is being picked on if at all possible. He certainly wouldn't hurt a fly on purpose, either (yes, that one time was a complete accident and he felt terrible about it, okay?). If he's required to do something that may hurt someone else (like winning in a game or beating someone in a race or something), he knows it's part of the requirement, but he still feels bad. He'd offer a good handshake and a smile and offer to buy ice cream. He's a good sport about most things, but has an awful guilt complex if he had an idea to go out and do something that ended up upsetting someone else. If he can't fix the issue with smiles and food, then he'll pitter about and twiddle his thumbs out of guilt for a while until he's distracted by something else.
Flaws:
Submissive - He does what he is told, no questions asked. Johnny doesn't really have a leadership bone in his body and easily rolls over if someone comes along with more than a smidge of backbone and confidence. He'd much rather follow than lead when it comes right down to it. He takes orders from anyone, happily, and doesn't really offer any resistance. This is a problem when he's the one "left in charge" or is the only one with a clue as to what is supposed to be done. If he's left in a leadership position, he tends to flail about in nervousness and not get anything done. He'll even take orders from bullies, the enemy or what he perceives his pet fish to be saying. He's stuffed himself in lockers just because a bully said to (plus it was more comfortable on the whole anyway). All in all, he's a very nervous little lamb that would be more than happy to follow a wolf into the depths of the woods than lead a flock of sheep. He hates making decisions because he doesn't have any idea what the outcome is. If someone orders him to do something that will hurt someone else, well... it's not too bad because the one in charge has to know what they're doing, right?
Spastic - High energy combined with an overactive imagination leads to very strange outbursts and a great deal of flailing. Johnathan is more prone to freak outs than your average 15 year old boy. If a door slams suddenly, he'll shriek about the invading pirates, ghosts, a vortex that opened in the middle of the house and it's about the suck them all into another dimension... Things like that. He doesn't immediately think of the most logical reason for something and usually just spouts the first ridiculous thing to come to mind. He's prone to calling people demons, pirates or the FBI, animals off of leashes are trained killers, traffic accidents are caused by laser beams emitted from satellites in space that the government doesn't want you to know about, etc. More often than not, he's the victim of pranks just to see what he'll be shouting about next. He's loud, obnoxious and more than a heaping helping of ridiculous.
Foolish - Let's face it. Generally speaking, Johnathan is not the brightest crayon in the box. He's probably more of a neutral beige color when it comes to brightness. He gets all kinds of crazy ideas in his head and doesn't stop to think of the consequences - only about how much fun it will be during or after the action. If there's a big, red button with "DO NOT PRESS" on it, you bet he'll be slamming that thing with a happy fist. He's touched wet paint, licked icy flagpoles in winter, tried jumping his bike over a ramp made of coffee cans and cardboard, that sort of thing. He'll dive head-first into a battle that everyone else knows he can't win, especially if someone asked him to do it. He'll take on someone much stronger than he is, only to get his a** handed to him. If he hurts someone, of course he'll feel guilty. He simply does not often think ahead in terms of his actions.
Naive - The word 'gullible' is written on the ceiling? He'll look up. Orange tabby cats are actually miniature tigers? He'll gasp and of course try to round them up to send them to the zoo where they belong. Yanking a starseed out of someone doesn't harm them? They'll just go to sleep and grow a new one? Then he'll do his duty with a smile on his face, comforted by the fact that sleep is actually quite nice and if people grow a new starseed, what's the harm? Johnathan parrots whatever was told to him if someone questions his actions, and isn't easily dissuaded after he's been told some (false) piece of information. It would take some serious logic and proof to make him see the error and change his mind. It's like his brain is on a first come, first serve basis when it comes to information. It's a steel trap with the first thing to go in, no matter how ridiculous or nonsensical it is. He's much too trusting for his own good.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Wide, happy and a deep blue.
Hair: Short, wavy and shaggy looking. Johnny's hair is a very light blue-gray color and he usually ends up screwing up whatever hairstyle he has within hours of styling it.
Face: A soft face with rounded features and a perpetually doofy look. He has a smattering of small freckles across his cheeks and the bridge of his nose.
Clothes: NINJA GEAR. Usually something in a dark blue or black (jeans and a long sleeve shirt plus a hoodie with the hood up).
