Basic Information
The weapon is essentially a modified HK USP Mk. Mod 0 designed to fire 10mm Auto rounds, with mostly "cosmetic" changes. These cosmetic changes are mostly in firing control mechanism, and the trigger group, which has had enormous modifications throughout it's the USP's existance.
The model is basically the Variation 1, which allow the user to carry the pistol in a single-action mode (cocked and locked) with the manual safety engaged. This same pistol, without modification, can be carried in double-action mode, with or without the manual safety engaged, and with the benefit of a decocking lever. As well, the weapon features a Colt 1911 styled safety in the handle, which must be held down in order for the weapon to be fired.
The primary change of the weapon is the change in the design to fire 10mm auto rounds. While the higher pressure can indeed causes issues with the firing system, the pistol has been over designed to accept much higher pressures from various types of rounds, reducing the over-all "damaging" effects experienced when most .45 ACP weapons are converted to higher pressure variants.
The weapon achieves roughly 4 MOA from the polygonal hammer forged barrel, which is noted as being relatively high from pistols, and is considered a "match" weapon. The 10mm Auto rounds used are 200 gr (13 g) WFNGC HC that achieve 430 m/s from a 4.6 inch polygonal barrel. The cartridge is considered to be high-velocity, giving it a less-curved flight path and less drop or rise above point of aim ("flat-shooting") relative to other handgun cartridges. In its lighter loadings, the 10mm Auto is an exact duplicate of the .40 S&W cartridge. More powerful loadings can equal or exceed the performance of the .357 Magnum, and retain more kinetic energy at 100 yards than the .45 ACP has at the muzzle.
