( If this is in the wrong forum, please let me know and I will . . . move it? Or have it moved? )
If Chuppi had another thing to be shamed about, it was her lack of being there for her club during her leave of absence. The Track Team was something of her own making, including the forcement of Tybalt into Vice-Captain and many students into actually being on the team with the wants and dreams of competing against rival schools. Just how exactly there were rival schools for them to compete against was a stranger to Chuppi but she didn't want to press the issue. She wanted to get her uniform on (even though it was almost too small now thanks to her weight gain) and she wanted to get out there and run around with the people who depended on her as both captain and possible coach. She hadn't been able to get a teacher to sponsor the club just yet, not that she'd been seeking one out, so for now everyone would have to settle on the pudgy Chupacabra.
It was with a sigh and a bit of nerves that she posted an announcement on her groanspring, knowing that it was the fastest way to get anything around Amityville these days, and shortly after she suited herself up and went out to the track field. A few days had passed since the Scarentines Dance and the monster had vented her frustrations and embarrassment on the weeds that had dared to grow during her absence, leaving the entire place spotless and ready for student activity. Chuppi had made mention that the track meeting was required for those who were already on the team, not that they couldn't miss it and be okay for at least two more times, but she'd also said that try-outs were welcome. She'd brought along the forms with her that she needed to file in case of a student emergency, but she doubted all of that would be needed.
All in all she was rather pleased to see that the track equipment she'd gotten out of storage (through a few pumpkin seeds to a rather. . . interesting gnome) was well-kept and didn't look like it would hurt anyone that badly if they messed up going over the hurdles or tossing the javelin. The little monster even dared to smile a bit in the hopes that everything went well, that soon she'd have more people out and wanting to play and join the track team. When it came time to compete this year Amityville would be ready and Chuppi would be leading the charge.

Temes stretched her legs and cracked her back a bit, her muscles stiff and sore from sitting in one spot for so long. She'd arrived at the track field early and had spent a good amount of time resting with a Thermos in her lap and a straw in her mouth. The Thermos was empty, acting only as a comfort, as the Chupacabra had made a solemn vow that being on track was going to teach her discipline, that being on track would help her lose weight.
It was also actually empty because she'd chugged it all down in the spare moments before coming to sit down. As if Chuppi would actually leave her dorm without enough blood to fill a balloon. A large, parade balloon. Her muscles protested at the stretching but she didn't hurt herself or pull anything as far as she could tell, not that she'd be running too much. The monster preferred to do her practices outside the eye of other students. all she was doing now was stretching away the nerves that came with waiting for students to arrive - both new recruits and club members alike.

Riley had been looking forward to tryouts since the moment she had heard there was a track team. A club dedicated to the one thing she loved to do most? Nothing sounded better. She was even just a touch nervous, though no one would ever be able to tell. She strode gracefully down to the field in her gym uniform, with her best friend beside her for support.
It's a shame you're not going to try out. I know you'd rather be in the air, but running feels so good. She had been trying to convince him to try out with her almost every day, but he had been steadfast against it. Still, he'd come to show his support, and that meant a lot - because if she, for some unknown and ridiculous reason, did not -make- the track team..
.. Well let's just hope she makes it. For everyone's sake.
She stopped at the bleachers, gave Jericho a quick hug goodbye, and then moved to the warm up area to do her stretches.

((Jericho is a spectator))
Jericho had come along with Riley to watch and give her some support for her try-outs. He was well aware of how often she ran and how she enjoyed doing it, so he didn't think she would have any difficulties with making it to the team. Even so, he wanted to be there for her anyway. Besides, if something went wrong for some unjackly reason... the others might not be able to calm her down as easily as he could.
An angry Illithid was a dangerous Illithid.
"I'll give that much to you, but the air is where it's at," he said in return with a grin.
Accepting the hug, he nodded to the Mindflayer, then climbed up the bleachers to pick out a seat at the front. From the looks of things, they were early, seeing how he didn't see anyone else at the track just yet. He was mildly surprised that Chuppi was the captain of the team, however. It wasn't anything against her, but he just didn't expect her to be the running type. It might have just been because of her short stature.
Rustling his wings as he settled down, he relaxed for the time being, as it would probably be a little while before things really got started.

Calder had came early not because he was eager, though he did love track, but because he didn't know how much time it would take for him to slowly get there. He had made the team, but their first meeting where he was an official member was at a time when his leg was at it's worst. Ever since he fell out from the window with Christof, it had been singing a sweet song of agony, and while the first few days he let it rest, he continued to put weight on it, go to class, even went to the dance to have it stepped on, and was still on it now. Why? Well, he didn't want anyone to know, and what better way to show everyone he wasn't hurt at all than to use his limbs as if they weren't trying to kill him.
It was sound logic to him, but crazy was more like it.
It was a good thing the track uniform had long pants, and the swollen ankle was left almost covered. To add some more to disguise it and to help some of the pulling JUST barely, he put some exercise wraps about his legs, a pair of cotton bandages often seen on race horses. He slowly moved onto the field, almost deserted aside from Chuppi, which brought about a smile, and ….Riley and that dragon kid that was always around her. What the heck were they doing here? From the look of Riley's outfit (Let him take a moment to turn his head and gag), she was trying out.
Moving over, he passed Riley with a flick of his tail, proud that he was actually in official track uniform and not trying out, and went over to Chuppi. "Hia Chuppi! Nice day." He reached up, working his hair into a sloppy ponytail with help of a green, plaid scrunchie. He wasn't here to race. Just watch. "Seems everyone is slow to get here." He said, smiling to his little friend. Aww. She was also so cute to look at. He wanted to pick her up and throw her up in the air a few times. She was probably the one person in school he wouldn't mind giving a piggyback ride to – then again, he knew how heavy she was.

Riley had been on the floor, spread eagle, slowly bending forward to stretch her legs out as she did every morning, when a flick of nasty tail slashed against her face. She sputtered and her hand slipped, making her body bend much further forward than it was used to. She winced as she felt the sprain of a muscle in the back of her leg being pulled, and looked up with seething rage to see just who had -
Oh. Of course.
The track team didn't look so good, after all.

Chuppi had been surprised to see Riley approaching and was going to say hello though she withheld her greeting when none was given to her to begin with. She knew that a Mindflayer could speak directly into people's minds, she'd had the girl do it many times to her before, but it seemed as though Riley was far more interested in getting ready to try out than anything else. Being in the presence of such a large and rather strong demon made the little monster nervous and she idly (and futilely) sucked away at the straw she still had in her mouth though her nerves settled a bit more when a familiar monster wearing an even more familiar track uniform descended upon the area. The Chupacabra couldn't help but frown at the interaction the pair had right from the get go (whatever happened to Riley looked painful) but she was certainly glad not to be alone with two people she hardly knew.
"Calder~ Buenos dias, good morning~. It's good to see you here for practice, is there anything you. . . " She trailed off in her sentence as Calder got close enough for her to smell his rather interesting (and tasty) blood, a part of it smelling a little foul. The scent reminded her of a blood clot, perhaps, and she knew that blood clots usually meant a wound or a sprain. If Calder was injured she appreciated him being here but it was no place of hers to say anything unless he tried to do something. "Actually, since Tybalt isn't here today, can I count on you? I need help for watching the people, making sure they do their stretches and sign-ups and events."
That was what she intended to do herself anyway, since she knew she was too out of shape to be trying anything without a chance of serious injury. Still she rose to her feet and moved over towards Riley, a small hand touching her nose as if to be sure of something. The monster looked nervous even though she was clearly holding the cards here, but how could that be helped?
"Are you okay, Riley? Did you hurt yourself?"

Lucien had gotten the message on Groanspring from Temes and his face had lit up like a pumpkin on Halloween night. It had felt like forever since the first try-outs and now it was finally time to practice. He couldn't wait and had such an uneasy rest, tossing and turning over his cloud all night long. He had gotten rest though, enough to keep the air spirit in high spirits. He'd jump good, yes, yes he would! Happily floating to the field, Lucien could be visibly seen in an outfit no one usually seen him in. He didn't have his usual belt on, but he still didn't have shoes on at all. Thankfully, that was never a requirement.
He seen a few familiar team members, and even some new faces that were familiar from another place! He waved to Riley and Jericho, before continuing over towards Riley. He gave her a questioning look, wondering if she was okay. After a moment of watching her and Temes, he assumed she was fine and proceeded to warming up. He pressed his feet against the ground, feeling the unusual feeling of the grass in his toes. He seemed to smile like a child, foolishly at that as he wiggled his toes around.
"Oooh," he said as he proceeded by bending around forward and back as he stretched out his limbs. He had to be sure to do this before running since it was rare he used his legs to actually move. He loved it though, being as light as air he literally took off. Oh, it was so nice. It was the next best thing to flying. He sure wished Freakuent Flyers would get together soon too.

Riley stood up, massaged the back of her leg - she could feel it. The sting of a pull in the back of her leg, right under her rear. She wanted to rip Calder's little tail right out, and she probably would if her injury affected her performance today.
As Chuppi neared her, she shrugged slightly and shook her head. I did. It's not bad. I'm still going to try to run through it. Ah.. I think I have a form for you. She slipped a small piece of paper out from her shorts, unfolded it, and handed it to Chuppi. Student Name: Riley Specie/Race: Demon/Illithid Emblem: Year: 1

Not 'try'. But join. Her words were steeped in confidence, and perhaps a little arrogance. This team needed her as much as she needed it.
She gave Lucien a friendly nod, her eyes softening just slightly at his presence.

He hadn't been aware of Chuppi's unique sense of smell, but then again, she was a unique type of predator that had already had a taste of his blood before. Clearly ignorant of what she detected, he smiled at being of assistance, always wanting to help a friend. Considering he had been rather down the past few days in regards to who he could actually call a buddy, he was putting for a stronger effort to be of service and win people over. He was a good kelpie. Yes he was. "Of course, Chuppi. I'd be happy to help." Then again, he didn't want to help Riley. It was a good thing that Chuppi took that bullet for him and went over to check on her. Still, he did so want to check up on her.
With a smile, he picked up one of the clipboards that were used for signups and keeping track of things and looked it over, seeing what needed to be done as he started to move over to Chuppi, following slowly behind her and watching with some little tingle of glee at seeing anything that Riley might fail in. Miss Perfect not doing stretching well even delighted him. His eyes then trailed to another applicant, a boy he had never seen or met before. The fact he seemed to smile at Riley and Jericho made Calder instantly dislike him, but he TRIED to remain pleasant and civil – as best he could.
He watched the boy wiggle his toes in the grass and begin to stretch. Since they were both close by, he stood near both of them, watching and letting Chuppi tend to Riley. "Hello." He told the boy who just arrived. "The name's Calder. I'm one of the members of the track team. Do you need any help stretching?" It was just an offer, but he hoped Chuppi would at least note he was making an effort to be helpful.

Jericho looked as two others made their way to the track, recognizing both boys. He couldn't help but frown some as he noticed Calder wearing the track team uniform. That tail slap didn't get past him either.. or the fact that it looked like that made Riley hurt herself in her stretching.
If that caused her to mess up her try-outs, the kelpie would probably find a very unhappy dragon to deal with.
With a huff, he didn't see this day going too well right now.
Turning his attention over towards Lucien, giving him a wave in return. He had to wonder if Israfel would be showing up at all. The Siren and the ghost seemed like they were pretty close and all. Thinking about Isra for the moment, he recalled offering to teach the guy how to fly awhile back. He was going to have to see if he was still interested in that.

((omg, really LW? Dice fail! ))
Ever since she had first gotten wind of the track team, LW had been surprisingly excited for tryouts to open up. Out of her little quartet consisting of herself, Gabrian, Ren, and Alessa, LW was the one that LOVED to run. She did so quite often (at least in her wolf form) during slow times during the day. The she-wolf was pretty sure she couldn't use her wolf form here, but that was alright. Running in humanoid form could be just as fun.
Although she really hoped that they didn't say she needed shoes. LW just...she did not like them. They bothered her. The she-wolf didn't have an exact reason why. At least not some spur of the moment excuse.
She pulled her hair back into a messy bun of some sort to keep it out of her face. Tail flicking back and forth, she noticed students she recognized. One in particular. It was that demoness that she had finally learned the name of. Riley. Well, at least she knew one person by name out here so far! Rolling her shoulders, LW decided to warm up...or attempt to warm up. She was discovering that her tail might need to be...dealt with in some creative fashion. Or she just needed to NOT get distracted.
Stretching out her legs, she was watching everyone else around her. Not what she was doing. As a result, the leg she was stretching, when she placed it back down after pulling her foot up behind her, the foot slipped on...something. LW didn't know what nor bother to look too closely. She was busy silently cursing the sudden tightness she could feel in her lower back. And she was currently proving that she was able to do the splits very nicely. Jackdamnit! This was not how she meant to start this out.
Still grumbling to herself, she got up and winced only slightly at the pain in her back. It was managable. How did that saying go? No pain no gain? LW hoped that was pretty true.
Gripping a sheet of paper in her hand, LW watched Riley turn in a similar sheet to a small little monster ghoul. Tilting her head in that direction, LW moved (a little on the slow side) towards the ghoul, giving a friendly smile to both her and Riley. "I...think I am supposed to give this to you?" She held the sheet out to Chuppi.Student Name: Little-Wolfe Specie/Race: Monster/Werewolf Emblem: Year: One
