....yes the subject name is unforgiveably lame.
I was originally going to put "Poetry of the Oubliette" as I tend to use the name Oubliette other places... but it just isn't me this time. Besides, often I think I don't think Oubliette suits me anymore.
Anyhow, this is where I'll be placing my poetry, new and old, in hopes of constructive opinions, encouragement, or just comments.
I won't be just throwing my best here, so be warned, not all of this will be the cream of the crop. The reason I'd share ones I am less proud with is just in case someone sees something salvageable in it that I may have missed.

I have actually not yet read "To Kill a Mockingbird". Actually, there are a lot of books that I have not read yet that are often considered classics, or commonplace in school curriculum(sp?).

we were required to read it since this was my freshman year in highschool. I loved it, personally. I just didn't like the 200 vocabulary words, 100 questions, and map that we had to do on it. But, I guess it comes standard for an honors class... I loved it, it was a good book. Boo Radley is awesome. 3nodding

Well it's good to know that you enjoyed it. Many people I speak with detest most of the books they have to read in school. I myself, have never found myself disliking many of the books I have had to read. Last year when I had to read "Lord of the Flies" I actually enjoyed it, whilst most of those I had spoken to had a passionate dislike for it.

Right then. Also easy to digest are poems about nature. We all love nature, right?
I'll start with two Haiku.... I think the plural for Haiku is still Haiku... since japanese words aren't proper to pluralize with an S at the end... like... how wrong it is to say "Ninjas' even though people do it anyway. Okay, rant aside, two Haiku, and one non-Haiku.
Winter
Bleached sunlight shining Glaring off of pristine white Merciless winter
Fall
Golden eyes peering Nature sheds her dying skin Autumn consumes life
And here's another Fall poem that is NOT haiku
Automn Creeps
Automn creeps in, silently whispering, she consumes all life in a soft breath. Then she burrows slowly and hides her golden face to slumber until life trespasses once again.

It's true. I can't write haiku. Well, on command however. That one was the result of someone making me write a haiku.
Night is about the holocaust? Well, then, yes, it probably is depressing.
However, not all stories that take place in the holocaust are depressing. I recall an excellent movie, in Italian (but you can get it dubbed into english) called "Life is Beautiful". It starts out very light hearted and funny, but then it gets darker. However, it continues to have very funny elements. It isn't making light or fun of the holocaust, it's just the main character is doing what he can to pull the wool over his son's eyes and keep him hidden, and has to keep smiling and being funny to help his son survive.

..... okay we're getting away from haiku and nature poetry and getting into more abstract stuff. I'm done my warm up, now I'm just going to throw what I've got at you (slowly).
Honesty
Apart That's how life falls Not down. Not over. Only apart.
Secrets They whisper sinisterly Burning up in my chest Building steam Trying to burst from within
Lies I don't care for the ones I tell Only the truths I withhold They could set me free Or destroy me Or destroy her. No, they'll destroy us.
Tell Honesty is devastating Essential, but cruel Keep it within God will forgive me For not telling the truth.
