So, I've decided I want to play Morrowind again. And in fact, I've dedicated this weekend to playing it. I'll be playing on my Xbox-360 through compatibility which is somewhat difficult, but hey, I still get to play it :]

Anyone else currently doing the same?
Perhaps I'll post something about my character's exploits here eventually. I have a talent for writing and the idea amuses me ;p

I want to go back and play Morrowind, but every time I do, the game seems to fix out and freeze up on me. I haven't tired to play it on my 360 yet, guess I should give it a go sometime. Hopefully it will behave.

"I've been playing Morrowind recently(Because I finally got around to getting it on the PC, which is much more enjoyable for me anyway.)
It will actually be the first time I get to complete the main quest.
There were... Xbox disputes with my older brother, so... and ended up with another xbox for 'everyone else to use' since he was determined to keep us away from 'his xbox'.
But, it's the GOTYE so I can finally play Tribunal and Bloodmoon."

I also have the PC GOTYE Morrowind, plus the xbox version. I have't really touched Morrowind on either console, but I prefer the PC version better, since you can use Commands to use your own Fast-Travel system, though i once went into a rock because the coordinates sucks.

I only ever had the Xbox version of Morrowind GOTY, and the disc is so scratched up it takes a while to start.

If I could find the GOTY version for PC I'd probably play again.

Hmm. It'd be nice to get that too, I think.
Does it come with the expansions and things?

Well, I tried getting the Bloodmoon and Tribunal in some... not so legal ways, but they never worked, but I was just thinking about grabbing Morrowind and re instaling it on my PC. It was my first game I got when I got my new laptop, I couldnt pass it up

Started a new character on my GOTY Edition PC Morrowind. Dark Elf, Male, Warrior Type. Already found Caius, and started the Fighter's Guild. But, when I went to level up, I got attacked by the Dark Brotherhood. One problem when you install Tribunal is that, when you go to sleep, or level, the Brotherhood ALWAYS attacks. Gets annoying if you want to sleep to skip to day time, or to start a day/night quest, and a guy wearing full black yells "Time to die!". Anyway, I'll probably be posting more stuff, or just start a new thread. Later.

I've been playing my Morrowind since i (lucked out and found it brand new in box at a Goodwill for 2$ X3 Sadly, i didnt get SO lucky for it to be a GOTYE, but still! 2$! ) got it, id never played before, and it was a big change after playing Oblivion so long. XD

You can get the GOTYE with all its expansions on STEAM as Duo said, and no disk to keep up with, its a great idea if you have the spare cash to get it, even as a backup. ^^

You should post about random things from your playthrough, always interesting to see how it gos for others! ^^

I want to play it on my laptop, and Morrowind works just fine, but I can't get the two expansions to work...

I haven't abandoned the idea...just gotten distracted.

First by a week long flu (still recovering from), then by writing, third by college (two papers coming up close to each other), and forth...well, Dragon Age II. I like my broody elves, okay? I CAN'T HELP MYSELF ninja

So I finally got around to starting a Morrowind character. My new Nereverine is a female wood elf named Kyrne. She has the default face/blond hair since I’m playing on the 360 and couldn’t figure out which buttons the white/black ones on the old controller mapped too – though I figured it out later, otherwise no journal + no ability to rest…ever. But anyway. In figuring out which class I wanted to be, I usually just go as a user created class but decided to go through the questioning process and see what my choices pledged me to be. The class I received was archer, not a bad class, but didn’t really have all the skills I wanted – sneak is a pain in the a** in this game, so glad they made it so you didn’t have to hold the button down in Oblivion. In these games I usually get acrobat, archer, or scout, either one not that bad to play with. But like usual, I went and created my own partially because I’m playing as a woman and for some inane reason that means my strength and endurance are somewhat low >.>

I picked strength and agility as my attributes, strength over endurance because I used to play mostly with the wakizashi and a few minutes into the game I now know why. It’s very difficult to kill with a bow in this game when used to Oblivion. I’ve been spoiled. And with my controls inverted, down is up and up is down, I almost got murdered by a nix struggling to aim right –head meet desk- Bit of a struggle not to pick speed and agility, since I’m used to that combo by now, but my strength is a little higher now at 40 and my endurance is somewhere around 65 or 55. Oh, that’s right, that’s because I picked Lady’s Favor as my sign or whatever you call it. I did that for the endurance perk mostly but I guess the personality one must be useful…somewhere? I think I went for stealth over combat in this game. I hope I don’t regret that…

Anyway major skills that I remember: marksman, mercantile, light armor, sneak, restoration, possibly short blade, possibly athletics. Minor skills include armorer, medium armor, definitely acrobatics (I think), security. Generally this is how I always play in Oblivion with the exception of long/short blade being just blade. I was tempted to pick spear for the heck of it but eh…Not so sure what all the numbers are but I do know that by being a wood elf and making it a major skill my marksman skill is at 50. Wouldn’t surprise me if I end up using short blade more often though. You also don’t seem to recover as many arrows as in Oblivion.

Then I went out into the game, deliver package to Balmora yada yada yada, go through door, steal anything not nailed down worth more than two gold generally, give ring to the elf on the other side that I plan to steal back later…ahem. Bought some new equipment from the Tradehouse – some light armor (do they have greaves in this game and why does the Tradehouse never have Chitin ones?) a couple spells, more well-rounded if a bit weaker silver short sword for my dagger, a bow, thirty arrows and a less wrinkly shirt as well as pants. I made well over two hundred gold despite the purchases with a bit of haggling. Can’t go much under ten less though, even with the guy around ninety-seven personality points.

I went and collected the scrolls from that dude who falls to a messy death along the road to the stilt strider. Really, I don’t even know how he thought that was a good idea. Then I went and nearly got killed by a nix and some karma or whatever, not the what goes around type, but the crawly worms with many pointed teeth type. Ran into some mudcrabs. Scary. Oh and I found a tax collector. I think I might keep the gold, though I do remember if you turn it in you can go hunt down the guy/lady who killed him. Might do that, I don’t know. Do need to return to the hulking Nord and give him the gold he wanted then find a way to steal it back. I don’t like having open quests, but the Nord dude is sort of a jerk so I'm stealing stealing steaaaaaling ninja

And then I had a massive headache and had to quit. I expect my next adventure will be dodging fireballs in the cave before the stilt strider – oh, also found some glowy flowers that are worth twenty-three gold in the marshes so started collecting some of those, my main revenue source might be bits and odds that I find as I go around so long as I remember not to sell anything I steal to the person I steal it from. That mage usually manages to kill me a few times coming down those steps before I do a little slice and dicing. Then it’s off to decide: ride inside the giant insect’s organs or walk to Balmora. Maybe I should stop over at Pel…rest of town I forgot how to spell. It’s nearby.

Also, I should come up with a spiffy name for Kyrne’s adventures. Hmm…

I managed to fix the invert my controls defaulted too biggrin

Though I may need to start over. I don't know about anyone else, but they greatly improved the stealth system in Oblivion. I hope it stays relatively/improved the same in Skyrim.

It's my favorite system.
Just not in this incarnation.

I feel your pain Supi, I was all turned around after playing Oblivion so much. As much as I love Morrowind, the improvements that Oblivion made to stealth, combat and magic have spoiled me. I completely forgot about how in Morrowind your magic and physical attacks have a chance of actually failing to cast/hit.

I never played as a stealth or thief character so I'm not so sure what its like to play as one in Morrowind. I do remember not ever being able to join the Thieves Guild because the game required you to have specific skills at specific levels to join or advance in rank. Which I did kinda liked, it seemed more real.

I do remember that Morrowind had a very codes as it where..that used the various buttons on the controller that would let you pick one thing (magic, life, stamina) and have it auto regenerate if used.

Unfortunately I'm not sure what those codes are anymore, I do however remember that they required the black and white buttons, and would be quite hard if your playing on the 360 since there are not white and black buttons, I wonder if the code would still work...
