Already read it a while ago. I'm somewhat baffled about the Digital Distribution part, as I've yet to see any touhou doujinsoft being distributed that way.

Same. I sort of saw this coming. Guess we'll have to wait another unknown amount of time for the third Maikaze Touhou episode once the second one is out. At least he's still not making people pay.

He's pretty much wanting to crack down on those who make porn doujin or porn date sims of Touhou characters.

To add on what Alice said, it's the natural copyright law of producing anything with similar, or the same content as, uhh... Hang on, lemme look Wikipedia...
*wiki's it*
Copyright is a set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. Copyright does not protect ideas, only their expression. In most jurisdictions copyright arises upon fixation and does not need to be registered. Copyright owners have the exclusive statutory right to exercise control over copying and other exploitation of the works for a specific period of time, after which the work is said to enter the public domain. Uses covered under limitations and exceptions to copyright, such as fair use, do not require permission from the copyright owner. All other uses require permission and copyright owners can license or permanently transfer or assign their exclusive rights to others. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright]
Though, it's only natural to do so for him because he doesn't get any revenue for them selling any content out, so he has to do it. He's losing all that money for all that doujin that's being sold off of the Comic Market conventions and such.

I don't think ZUN is too interested in getting paid royalties. From what I can gather, it sounds like "Try to keep big profit minded enterprises out of the loop to keep Touhou a doujin venture" and "No, you may still not make an anime"

Saigyouji Yuyuko The porn restrictions makes me rage. Uh, I don't really see any porn restrictions other than ZUN's stuff not being allowed on raunchy merch. Also, to be honest I don't like the idea of UFOTABLE's Touhou-Anime Tenchou crossover, and so far that has been the extent of the big studio productions I have seen... Shingami Hiroshi I don't think ZUN is too interested in getting paid royalties. From what I can gather, it sounds like "Try to keep big profit minded enterprises out of the loop to keep Touhou a doujin venture" and "No, you may still not make an anime" This too. Touhou began a grassroots effort with everything being pretty much community-run. While I wouldn't really mind if ZUN opened up the franchise to commercial productions as long as they didn't sucked, I think so many people would see it as ZUN selling out this whole Touhou thing.

Tanooki John And on the 2nd link, I see a pic of a touhou flyer poster with Anime Techno. Im just wondering what is he doing on a touhou poster? I thought he was from Lucky Star. confused It's about ufotable's anime project, where a crossover between Anime Tenchou and some Touhou Characters would happen. I think it was only shown on an event, tho.

Shingami Hiroshi So...for the most part, just more of the same right? or am I missing something Yes. The way I see it, the only things worth mentioning about the new guidelines would be that: a- the only acceptable form of product distribution is through direct buy in the events ZUN partakes in and b- you can't make fanmade games for Android/iPhone/ et c.Saigyouji Yuyuko The porn restrictions makes me rage. Most of the Touhou porn out there is made by doujin artists, who don't fall under the porn restrictions ZUN is talking about. Don't worry.

Woutan Manasal Yes. The way I see it, the only things worth mentioning about the new guidelines would be that: a- the only acceptable form of product distribution is through direct buy in the events ZUN partakes in and b- you can't make fanmade games for Android/iPhone/ et c.That, however, is a problem. If I had an iPhone I think it would be pretty rad to be able to kill some time kicking Reisen's a**, I don't see anything wrong with selling s**t on the iTunes Store, and putting it there would really spread the word about Touhou in the Western world.
