Quinn wasn’t horribly sure why he was watching the singing rabbit with such interest; he didn’t much care for a thing like love, anyways, and so watching a prancing beast on a stage claiming it to be the sweetest of all emotions… eh. But he was a rather funny sort of gent, and Quinn figured if he was gonna be in Mossflower, he might as well taste the amusements. A long walk and a hectic afternoon of seeing the sights was well-ended with a bit of a sit-down, anyways.

But, ey, this rabbit was a bit offa his block! Quinn was regretting his choice of a stage-front seat, now, as the long-eared bard leaned forward as though seeing some apparition in the distance. ”Oh, come on now!” Quinn cried, kicking back in his seat and doing his best to avoid the sticky pink stuff what came pouring from a vial at the rabbit’s hip - but the crowd was packed and he was but a small mouse, so he couldn’t really do that much to get away.

It smelled bad, like sweet candy sick, and as it ran between his ears he could feel it already clumping wildly in his fur; he pawed at it madly, shaking his head and flinging little droplets as he did, but to no avail! He couldn’t free himself of the concoction, and now it was dripping into his eyes. “I’ma have a nice talk with ye, rabbit fer this - this -”

Where’d that rabbit gone, anyways? Quinn rubbed his eyes, and realized he was feeling a touch woozy. What sorta sorcery was this? Why, he’d wear a bit of leather off his gloves if he ever caught his eyesight again, he would; there’d be a fight here, if he had any say in the matter…

But then, he didn’t really feel too violent anymore. He looked about, blinking madly, trying to sort out the blurry faces and hardly capable of telling rabbit from mole from bird - it was all so very confusing, like they really didn’t matter much, and finally settling on a visage that remained clear, he felt a sort of warmth rise into his cheeks. “Oh, hey…”

There was a pretty little mousemaid before him, a sweet sort of familiar face that brought his heart to beating and settled any qualms he thought he had. When they had met in Woodhaven, he had seen her for a smallish sort of thing - timid, a bit wary, kind enough. But now, oh! Oh, she was so very lovely now - why hadn’t he seen it before? How her fur was just so soft and creamy, her eyes just that right shade of blue… “Hey, missie, I dinn’t know you was in the audience tonight…” he grinned soppily, not minding in the least that a bit of concoction had found its way into one of his ears. “Fancy this, now, meeting again. Sounds like destiny, eh?”

On the other hand, Lova quite enjoyed the theater. She herself was a bit of a romantic herself, and this sort of thing just tugged at her heartstrings. Fawning over the harmonious voice spilling from the rabbit's lips, she became entranced with the love story, finding the characters form into her mind. Perhaps it was because she heard too many tales as a child, but... this tickled her fancy!
Most of the crowd seemed to enjoy it too, as a large crowd had gathered. It had been awhile since she'd traveled to Mossflower for such an event, in the first place. Perhaps.... only a few times when she was younger, and her father was around long enough to take his children into town to treat with the riches he'd gathered on his travels. He'd spoil them with sweet berries and nectars, as well as the finest toys recently crafted!
It set her mood into a very mellow state, her ears relaxing back against her head, paws clasped before her as she was easily swept up into the weaving words.

...though as the play progressed, the star of the show began to act a bit... strangely... not to mention some sort of liquid began to drip from the flask around his hip! Perking her ears, snapping out from her reminiscing, she opened her mouth to inform him... but was stopped when her eyes met to a figure she was quite accustomed to. She never forgot a face.
It was the fello she'd met on her usual routine out in Woodhaven, and... who she'd had a little scare of. Smiling gently at the recalling of the event, she was blissfully unaware of the current spell that was beginning to fall on him. Instead, with a soft giggle, she shuffled about in her satchel to retrieve a kerchief for him to use so as to remove that strange substance coating along his head, "Hello again, sir.. it seems you might have a bit of something on your head, there.. this might help?" she extends a little paw to him with the equipped cloth, "You may have to get a bit of water to wash it out I think.." she steps a little closer for a better look, tilting her head a few times before righting it with a shy faint smile.

Oh? Sommat in his fur? Why, Quinn had nearly forgotten about that goop! Not that it really mattered much, anymore, but all the same, he felt incredibly gracious for the proffered handkerchief. “You are a saint, ye are, missie,” he crooned, lighting up as she smiled.

What an angel’s breath, a light in the dark, the most gracious of graceful beings! He should have known that, from the moment they met, he’d develop these sorts of feelings… they were swelling in his chest, it seemed, pawing to get out, urging him to ignore the handkerchief and instead clasp hier paws in his. Why had he left her to her own life, when he knew there would enver be another? He would carve for her a castle, a garden, the moon itself, give up his wandering ways and live so peacefully if only he could make her understand how he felt! Ah, but he just couldn’t find the right words, ears drooping and eyes hazy. “I think I’m fine as I am, missie, he sighed, falling into her vast blue eyes. “All I need’s right here, see?”

He understood the wailings of the rabbit, now, and embraced within himself a romanticism that had never been practiced; oh, to have this beautiful thing by his side always! Perhaps in a nice thatched hut, or a comfortable nook near the spot where they first met - what hallowed grounds those were, now, etched into his memory as though they were once again standing in the whisping flowers of spring. “Ye’r lookin’ very lovely today, may I say?”

The guck didn't look like it'd come out easy at all... not by the sweet scent of it. But he'd declined her offered cloth all the same. This she found quite curious, as, well, the stuff was starting to run on him! it'd be a challenge to get out...
Seeing a little droplet starting to fall towards his eye, she carefully extended her arm to dab at it with the lightest of touches, just to keep it from irritating one of his dark emeralds. "Well, if you're certain.. " it wasn't her place to question his antic's, even if she thought it might be more wise to rid it now while it was still in motion. Sooner or later it would dry up.

There was something in the way he looked at her... the way his voice seemed a bit... sing-songy. Perhaps the show really had effected him. Ignorant to the possibilities of the manipulation potion seeping into his fur, the little female gave a perk of her ears as he... right here? What was? Blinking her eyes, Lova looked around them, unsure of what he might be referring to. There was no water, nor any means of cleaning up such a mess. It didn't take long though for her ears to lift further, if that were even possible, and a bright flush run along her bridge, meeting at the ends of her plush cheeks. Staring at him with wide eyes, ears folding back half way, her tiny paws clutched slightly in surprise. Her? Lovely? But the look in his eyes seemed to show he was serious... in turn making her head avert from facing towards his, shyly bowing at an angle, "y-you're...t-too kind..s-..sir.." she replies in an ever so soft and dainty voice, never having thought herself any more appealing than a grain of rice.

Ah, she was just so humble~ such a poor, sweet little thing, who just didn’t understand how beautiful she was! “Missie, I like to say the truth as I see it,” he began, as though ready to preach some great ballad in the name of his crème-furred lovely, “that any other mouse would be a fool ta not see how beautiful ye are. Never seen another what could hold a candle to yer flame, missie dear, an’ I shoulda said that a while ago now. Tsk tsk, but ye never give yerself enough credit, lovely!”

He had never figured himself one for poetry or other such fineries, but he would certainly give it his all. What more could the bard say about his beauty, anyways? What woodland goddesses could even look upon this crème maid and not become mortified with jealousy? “I’d be hard-pressed ta find a lady with such a generous an’ precious heart, I would. An’ then, they wouldn’t have half the sweets about ‘em as ye do. Ye helped out a spotty mouse down on his luck a bit, and ey, he never repaid you quite fully! I have been bloody blind as what could be, missie, an’ regret it so fully…”

For a moment, it felt as though he was gonna start sobbing - already, his eyes were growing so very tearful. Never mind that it might have been the sopping goop, which was beginning to dry in awkward ways… he looked completely foolish, a lovestruck beastie who looked worse for the wear with the dirt of traveling on his clothes and the pink of a deceptive potion pooling down his cheeks. BUT HE DIDN’T CARE! Not one part of him cared much for anything anymore, and so long as he could continue spouting sweet nothings, then all was right with the world.

What in good gracious was going on?! This mouse she'd only met once in a random and frightful encounter was acting as though they had been childhood sweethearts! And all this attention, and doting words heavily laid out to her! It was too much too handle! Far too overwhelming!
Balling up the cloth into her paw, she placed her free one to her cheeks, wanting to quell the heat that now radiated there, staring at him as if star-struck. She... she didn't even know his name!

In this realization, she shook her head, clamped her eyes closed, and pressed her lips together, "s-s-sir.. I-... I implore you... y-you're mistaken.. I cannot be the one you speak such words of... perhaps... perhaps you have had a bit too much buckweat wine?" though she saw no flask to give evidence to her claim... Glancing off, fiddling with the little cloth, balling it up further, she struggled to find a way out of this situation.... it wasn't something she was accustomed to, nor something she had any idea of how to deal with appropriately!
"m-ma-maybe... a glass of water... will help you... clear your mind..?" she offers with a hesitant smile... trying to will away the hot flush on her cheeks.

“Nonsense, me lovely! Who is there that I could possibly mistake fer you? All the angels of the Great Tree herself couldn’t HOPE ta be half as loved as what I’m feelin’ fer ya…”

Surely, she wasn’t doubting the true feelings he was trying to show? Such a clever and kind little mousemaid couldn’t mistake the throes of true love, not when it was as powerful and as pure as what Quinn now felt - if only he could make her understand that! “Wine is not nearly as intoxicating as you are, missie, an’ not nearly as sweet! I could go without water if it meant a little longer with ye, fast fer YEARS just ta be at your side… ah, missie, how many words do ye need? I am madly, and oh so deeply, incredibly in LOOoooo--euhhh… eh?”

Why couldn’t he say those words? What was wrong with him now? It was almost as if he was in the clutches of that great ugly badger again, being tossed about and dizzied up - he felt a tad nauseous, his stomach doing queezy things, and while a more romantic him would have claimed true love had turned his world upside down… he was starting to realize he wasn’t quite as infatuated as he claimed. Pink concoction still addled his mind and made him feel so very tipsy, and though it was a bit reluctant to relinquish command, Quinn could feel himself slipping free. “Y-yes, we should drink a toast - to our - our - loouu…”

His ears dropped, and his eyes widened most dramatically. “Wut… What was I just sayin’, there? Missie, ye’re lookin’ right frightened again, ye are…”

Ohhhh no.

All too flustered and overwhelmed, little Lova could only shake her head and hold her cheeks. "S-sir! Pl-lease..!" she begs, all this doting and complimenting too much to handle!

It was the season of love, but... but this was absurd! there was no way he could have feelings for her after just one meet. Well... there was such thing as love at first sight, but her? She couldn't believe. She wouldn't! Though as she was thinking these thoughts, the males voice started to falter, his honey like words becoming muddled. Looking up, her eyes blinking, Lova saw the woozy expression on Quinn, the fatigued demeanor. Was he alright? "s...sir...?" she asked nervously, a paw slightly reaching out in case he were to fall over or something. He didn't look well, that's for sure. And suddenly... what? How could he not know the words he'd just spewed to her?!
Blue eyes widening, her ears perking straight up, Lova tilted her head, "are... you... you really don't know...?"
What just happened?

Oh, Quinn knew what he had been saying. He remembered every sappy, lovestruck syllable that had spewed from his lips, and had a faint notion that he had come dangerously close to opening out in song… But he couldn’t let her think that he had meant everything he had said! It was a very uncouth notion that he, being the loose thimble he was, would throw everything away for the sake of a pretty face!

But, that was half the problem! Quinn did think she was nice and such - not most of that sugar vomit he’d let out, but definitely a small part of it. He was tense from head to tailtip, mouth opening and closing like a sickly fish, trying desperately to come up with something affirmative to say. He’d gone and frightened the timid spirit again! He could see her quaking with his allegations as though he’d threatened her life, which was probably the most appropriate response when faced with a terrifying Romeo such as himself, and certain that under his slate gray fur his cheeks were the reddest cherry red they could possibly be, he choked, “N-Neh, no, don’t remember a thing! This stuff is a touch brain-addlin’, it is… opiate or sommat illegal like that. Ey, the rabbit… where’d that floppy-eared crook go?!”

The perfect subject changer! The rabbit had been the one to spill sticky-pink brain-addling stuff all over Quinn’s head, and for that he’d make sure the unlucky creature lost every silky strand of fur on his bushy little noggin! His eyes wandered to the other members of the crowd, who - like himself - seemed to be faced with an incredibly daunting and embarrassing task of thinking up clever excuses for their lovesick attitudes. Oh, such a shame they hadn’t thought of forgetting it all like he did! “It’s real nice ta see ye again, though, missie,” he said, sticking a paw into his ear and wiggling it about in an attempt to open up his smothered canals, “An’… ye said sommat about getting this mess offa me head? Just point me in the direction of a river, I s’pose!”

He chuckled, or at least tried to, finding his paw a bit glued where he had stuck it. Well… what was a bit more embarassment, anyways?

Lightly fiddling with the cloth balled in her paws, she let her eyes drop in embarrassment. Perhaps, she'd gone off the deep end. Fully flushed and warm along her cheeks, the little female forced a light smile and shook her head. What did it matter anyway. It was all untrue, so there was nothing to fret!
"O-oh... well... well it-it doesn't matter any matter..." she replied meekly, placing the little bit of cloth into her satchel again. It was over now and that's all that counted. Her eyes ventured to their surroundings as well, noting the similar conversations. Perhaps... it had been the strange goo coating along Quinn's head. It was becoming a common sighting amongst most of the critters around them! How foolish she'd been..
Pricking her ears as he spoke again, she dared a glance to him, though it didn't last long and detered off again, "y-y-es... th-this way..." she answers quietly, starting towards the opposite way of the stage to take him towards a nearby watering well. It was a local well in the town for those who wanted a quick drink, or to wash off something. Hopefully that would ail what ever had plagued him... and hopefully wash away her own embarrassment.
