Bird Wyvern
Bird Wyverns are wyverns that are ancestral to birds. They usually have beaks and are smaller in size compared to other Wyverns. They often move and attack in a distinctly chicken-like manner. They are faster than standard wyverns due to their small size.
The two types of bird wyverns are the classic Bird Wyvern and Theropod Bird Wyverns.

Velociprey
Nicknames: V-Prey
Titles: Cunning Raiders
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: Thunder
Habitat: All
Velociprey are a very common raptor-like species. They have blue scales with black stripes, and a dull red and black monocrest on the top of their heads. These carnivorous creatures travel in packs and inhabit many different landscapes.
They have a larger, more ferocious leader named the Velocidrome.
An experienced hunter should have no trouble dealing with them, though a new hunter will have some trouble against these fierce opponents. Velociprey are capable of leaping great distances, making them difficult to flee from, especially when delivering eggs and large ores. They will, on occasion, be slashed in two when struck by a strong weapon or when sliced in midair. When this happens, the Velociprey cannot be carved.
Velociprey are kin to three subspecies of Bird Wyvern: Giaprey, Genprey and Ioprey. These minions first appeared in the original Monster Hunter, except for Giaprey.

Giaprey
Nicknames: White Velociprey
Titles: The Carnivore
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: Freeze
Weakness: Fire
Habitat: Snowy Mountains and Tundra
Giaprey is the name of a breed of Velociprey that calls the Snowy Mountains and Tundra home. They have crystal blue scales with sky blue stripes. Although they are of a different species, White Velociprey have been seen in packs of Velociprey. Like all of the '-prey' family, this sub-species also fights in a pack, often alongside their leader, the Giadrome. They are a little stronger, physically and defensively, than the average Velociprey, and are noticeably tougher than their counterparts in battle. They also have an added ability to spit ice to attack hunters, and being able to freeze a hunter like Blangonga. Although stronger, they still have about the same accuracy. Sometimes when killed in mid-air or by specific attacks they, like all '-prey', may be divided into multiple pieces, disappearing in midair, leaving nothing to carve.

Giadrome
Nicknames: White Velocidrome, Gia
Titles: A True Foe, The Carnivorous Leader
Size: Medium
Status Inflictions: Freeze
Weakness: Fire
Habitat: Snowy Mountains and Tundra
The Giadrome is a species of Raptor in the Bird Wyvern family. It inhabits the Snowy Mountains and Tundra and are the alpha male leaders of the Giaprey. Larger in size, and with a more prominent crest, they are perfectly suited for the position of leader. Not only does it sport a stronger attack, it also has a stronger "snow spit" ability that makes a large amount of snow stick to a hunter, and thus slow him/her down, this is known as the 'Snowman Effect'.

Genprey
Nicknames: Copper Vipers, Thunder Fangs
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: Paralysis
Weakness: Water, Thunder, Ice
Habitat: Desert and Gorge
They possess a colorful yellow and green hide, and a yellow crest. Like all the carnivorous preys, these hunters travel in packs. Genprey are the second strongest of the prey subspecies. They are very similar to Velociprey and Ioprey, having basically the same moves, but with paralysis abilities.
Their fangs contain a paralysis-inducing neurotoxin, which can prove fatal to hunters fighting another monster. By living in the harsh terrain of the deserts, evolution has made them tougher than the Velociprey, meaning that they will inflict and resist more damage.

Gendrome
Nicknames: Gen
Titles: None
Size: Medium
Status Inflictions: Paralysis
Weakness: Thunder, Ice
Habitat: Desert and Gorge
Gendromes are the pack leaders of the Genprey. Their dual-crest and two protruding fangs signalize their leadership. Although they are physically the second strongest of all prey dromes, they are typically the most feared because of their ability to paralyze hunters.
With a pack to protect them and paralyzing fangs, they are a force to be reckoned with. Considerably harder than a Velocidrome, Gendrome pose a challenge to novice hunters. Quick attacks and high speed allow it to attack with suprising power. Contrary to popular belief, dromes aren't always male. Female dromes do exist in the same way that males do, except they do all of the reproducing and rear all of the younger pack members or future pack leaders.

Ioprey
Nicknames: Volcanic Menace, Loprey
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: Poison
Weakness: Water
Habitat: Volcano
Ioprey are a Velociprey subspecies, made distinct by their orangey-red hide, black mottling and tanned underside.
Easily distinguishable from other Prey species by its larger size, oversized head and bulbous frog-like throat sac. This enlarged throat houses the Ioprey's potent poison sac, which gives it the ability to spit poison at threats. Whilst this might be a small nuisance to experienced hunters, the fact Ioprey hunt in packs can quickly make them a dangerous threat to one not carrying a supply of Antidotes. The duration and toxicity of the poison varies between Ioprey.
Due to mistakes by hunters, these wyverns have been nicknamed Loprey.

Iodrome
Nicknames: Io, Lo
Titles: None
Size: Medium
Status Inflictions: Poison
Weakness: Thunder
Habitat: Volcano
Iodromes are the alpha males of the Ioprey. They are significantly larger and possess larger crests. They travel with their pack for protection. When threatened, Iodromes project poison from their throat sacs. Unlike other prey-dromes, the Iodrome has a more amphibian look, with salamander-like skin that needs moisture, and frog-like throat sacs.
Being the strongest of all the prey dromes, the Iodromes are the perfect challenge for hunters. Although not as strong as wyverns, they can quickly cripple hunters with the power of numbers and poison. Iodrome is a threat to new hunters with their speed, agility and high strength compared to the other prey-dromes.
As with all other "dromes", they are an irritation to any hunter trying to hunt a larger monster.

Jaggi
Nicknames: None
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: Fire
Habitat: Deserted Island and Sandy Plains
Jaggi are young male members of the Jaggi family, a Bird Wyvern subspecies, and something of a parallel to the "Prey" species of other regions, though notably smaller in size. At this stage in development, Jaggi are mostly orange, with purple foreclaws, back-stripe, and head-frills, and with cream-colored underbellies. Their tails are barbed along the length of the appendage, and they sport sizable frills sprouting from behind their jaws, possibly for making themselves look bigger to other monsters.
Other members of the Jaggi family include the larger female Jaggia, and the pack-leading alpha male Great Jaggi.
Though Jaggi and their kin display a higher functioning level of cooperation than other Raptors, Jaggi are often easily dealt with, even for novice hunters. This is due, in part, to their boisterous nature; Jaggi will often spend just as much time vocalizing bark-like warnings against intruders as they will attacking them.

Jaggia
Nicknames: None
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: None
Habitat: Deserted Island and Sandy Plains
Jaggia are female members of the Jaggi family, a Bird Wyvern subspecies, and something of a parallel to the "Prey" species of other regions. Jaggia are noticeably larger and bulkier than the immature males of the species, Jaggi, and are mostly blue-ish purple in hue, the exceptions being orange areas along their limbs and the sides of their necks and cream-colored underbellies. Their tails, unlike males of the species, have no barbs, and instead have a soft feather-like hanging accent near their ends. Their frills, located behind their jaws, are also more subdued than other Jaggi variations, and hang limply.
Other members of the Jaggi family include the young male Jaggi, and the pack-leading alpha male Great Jaggi.
Jaggia and their kin display a higher functioning level of cooperation than other small Bird Wyverns, and are more of a challenge than the smaller Jaggi due to their greater resilience and larger area of attack. They do, however, still spend a nominal amount of time "barking" at threats, and still rarely prove much of a challenge lest a hunter find themselves surrounded. It is also notable that, unlike most other minions, Jaggia are sometimes found sleeping.

Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: None
Habitat: Deserted Island and Sandy Plains
The Great Jaggi is larger than previous Dromes. It has a long, barbed tail and large frills on the sides of its head.
Great Jaggi, along with the Great Baggi, may attack other boss monsters instead of focusing solely on the hunter, indicating a highly competitive and intelligent demeanor. It can also summon Jaggi at any time with a loud, resonating roar eerily similar to that of a canine.

Baggi
Nicknames: None
Titles: None
Size: Small
Status Inflictions: None
Weakness: Fire
Habitat: Tundra
They are generally commanded by an alpha male or alpha female known as a Great Baggi. They have the ability to put other creatures to sleep by using its special liquid spit, that only lasts a few seconds. Baggi have the same attacks as the creatures they resemble, the Jaggi, but attack more without delay. They will spend much less time hissing and will rush at hunters without warning.
Baggi behave the same way as Jaggi and Jaggia when hunters have out and/or hit them with a torch. Unlike Jaggi, however, they can be either male or female.

Great Baggi
Nicknames: Baggidrome
Titles: None
Size: Medium
Status Inflictions: Sleep
Weakness: Fire
Habitat: Tundra
Its eyes will glow yellow in the dark. Unlike the Jaggi, it is not sexually dimorphic and can be either the Alpha Male or Alpha Female of a pack. Great Baggi is also slightly larger than the Great Jaggi. As with the Giadrome and Iodrome, it has developed its own unique ability to spit a tranquilising liquid that inflicts sleep on its prey or hunters. Smaller Baggis are also able to spit a weaker form of this liquid. Located on its head is a crest that can be obtained in a way similar to Great Jaggi's frill. Great Baggi and Great Jaggi are often seen to be hostile towards other boss monsters; when in the same area they will occasionally cease fighting the hunter to attack other monsters.
