~ Story ~

Keiko attends an all-girl high school. She was home-schooled up until then, so she has had very little interaction with boys. When her school decides to throw a dance with the local all-boy high school, Keiko is very nervous. As junior class president, she is expected to open the dance with the boy's junior class president. Will she end up embarrassing herself in front of both schools? Or will this dance spark an unexpected romance?

Age: 16
Height: 5’ (5' 4" if you include her ears)
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Grey
Personality: Keiko is very kind and gentle-hearted. She is trustworthy, responsible, and honest, which is how she was elected president of her class. She is also quite talkative... but only around girls. When it comes to boys she is a nervous wreck. She stutters and usually ends up embarrassing herself.
History: Keiko was home-schooled up until high school. She now attends an all-girl school where she quickly excelled in both academics and extra-curricular activities. She is president of both her class and orchestra. Being an only child, she has absolutely no experience with boys.

Name: Justin Fletcher
Gender: Male
Race: Human, clearly
Birthday: February 11
Age: 17
Height: 5' 1"
Hair Color: Dark Red
Eye Color: Brown
Personality: Justin's a kind, understanding kid with a weird sense of humor. He'll listen to anyone's problems and try to help, if he has to. He's also an avid lover of music, particularly rock and metal. He hates people who hurt or insult others, and will gladly try to cheer anyone up, even at his own expense. He can sometimes be a bit absent minded, however, which is why he's having a bit of trouble with his grades.
History: Justin may be a nice kid, but that's because of the care his uncle gave him. His mother died after childbirth, and his dad couldn't handle raising Justin alone. His uncle was more of a father than the real thing, so he doesn't care. He heard about the dance with the all-girl school, and was instantly eager to meet new people and make new friends. Since he has to dance with the girl's junior class president, he figured that he could at least be nice and offer his friendship.

Keiko paced nervously back and forth across the empty classroom. School was over and Keiko and her friends Tamara and Yuki were just killing time until orchestra rehearsal. "I'm not going to be able to do this!" Keiko exclaimed, stopping in front of Yuki, her tail twitching back and forth. "Boys are like... a completely different species to me!" She collapsed into the seat between her friends. "It's just one dance, Keiko," Tamara said, inspecting her nails. She was a half-vampire and clearly not interested in attending the dance. "I'm going to make a fool of my-" "Breath, Kei!" Yuki said, placing a hand on Keiko's shoulder. Yuki was an angel, and the warmth of her touch made Keiko's nerves go away. "But it's tomorrow..." Keiko muttered, resting her forehead on the desk in front of her. "I'm not ready..."

Justin sat down lazily on a bench in the hall, flanked by his two amigos, Kain and Takeshi. School had ended for the day, so the boys were just loafing around until Justin's uncle came to give them a ride. "So, Justin, are ya nervous about this whole dance thing at all?" Kain asked the red haired goofball of the trio, who just shook his head. "Nah. I'm looking forward to it, really. I like meeting people." Justin answered, adjusting the trademark goggles on his head. Takeshi, the smart one of the group, gave him a questioning look. "You do know you can't wear those on your head at the dance, right?" He asked. Justin gave him a smirk. "The goggles stay at all times, man. That's rule #1 of my personal creed." He replied. He didn't care if they looked funny on him at the dance. The goggles were his symbol, and he would never deny people the joy of looking at his goofy fashion sense.

Keiko and her friends went to rehearsal where Keiko was able to drown out all thoughts of the dance. When she played cello she thought of nothing but the music she was playing. After rehearsal was over, Keiko waved goodbye to her friends and walked home. Thoughts of the dance slowly began to drift back into her head again. Boys... she thought with a sigh. "Somebody should just put me out of my misery," she muttered to herself.

After Justin's uncle dropped his friends off, Justin made a short trek to his room when he got home. Justin kept on thinking about this whole dance thing coming up, and he was happy about a chance to meet people. He loved big gatherings, as he was usually the life of the party. The young goggle wearing boy had a knack for making people laugh and enjoy themselves, even if it was at his own expense. That was part of why he wore the goggles in the first place. Sure, dancing with a girl was a big part of this whole thing, but he didn't care about what made others nervous. He just loved to put smiles on people's faces, and that was what he was gonna do. I wonder if I'll make any new friends there.... He thought hopefully.

Keiko went through the motions for the rest of the evening and went to bed dreading tomorrow. The next morning she woke up and was more nervous than before. At three she collected her things and walked over to Yuki's house because they were going to the dance early together; Keiko because she was class president and Yuki because she was on the dance committee. Keiko was surprised to see Tamara sitting on Yuki's bed, but it turned out she was just there for moral support. Keiko gave Tamara a quick hug before getting ready for the dance. She put her hair up in a ponytail and wore a strapless, turquoise dress that ended just under her knees. After putting on black flats she looked at Yuki and Tamara. "Well...?" Both of her friends grinned and gave her the thumb up.

Justin stood in the apparent warzone that was his messy room, clad in a simple pair of black dress pants and a matching shirt. Of course, keeping his word to Takeshi, he still had his trademark goggles on his head. Why he ever started wearing them, no one knows, but it was his thing. Justin was going to this dance because he was the president of his class. Kain and Takeshi, who were making sure Justin wasn't too much of a disaster, didn't have to go, but they were like the three musketeers. The stuck together through everything. Even the chaotic "birthday party" incident that they vowed never to speak of again. Takeshi simply nodded at Justin's outfit, while Kain flashed him the rock on devil horns sign.

At five Keiko and Yuki set off to school to help prepare the dance. They made sure all the decorations were set up, the food was laid out, the band was setting up, and all the class presidents were there. Yuki went off to continue her dance committee tasks while Keiko stood with the other presidents."Are any of you nervous?" Keiko asked them, her tail picking up its nervous twitch. "No?" said Anne, the freshman president. She was a neko and her tail was twitching just as nervously as Keiko's. "Why, are you?" asked Willow, the senior class president. She smirked when Keiko nodded. "Don't be. It's just one dance then you're free to hang out with us and Yuki." Keiko nodded, but froze when the principal announced that she was unlocking the doors.

As the doors slowly drifted open, most of the boys walked into the room. As the crowd entered the room, the strangest thing happened. Kain walked into the room, and, being the Goliath he was, he easily managed to walk with Justin riding in on his shoulders. Takeshi simply rolled his eyes at the goof and the musclehead. "Was that little stunt REALLY called for?" He asked. Justin smirked at his brainy friend. "As president, I'm obligated to make an unforgettable entrance." He replied, while Kain just nodded. Being the senior president, Kain probably caught a few eyes from this stunt, himself. The giant bent down, letting Justin off his shoulders. The two bumped knuckles, then looked around the room. Justin gave a whistle. "Man, they did a great job here." He said, impressed.

Keiko wove her way through the students to the food table to stand behind Yuki. "Help me!" she whispered frantically in Yuki's ear. "What?" Yuki asked, whipping around. "They're everywhere!" Keiko looked around the room at all the girls and boys mingling. "Kei, honestly, they're just boys." "But I can't hold a decent conversation with them! I panic and stutter and drop things and..." Keiko sighed. "Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please?" "Oh no..." Keiko and Yuki turned toward the stage as the principal spoke into the microphone. "I'd like all of the class presidents to come over to the stage please." Keiko gave Yuki a "save me" look before walking toward the stage.

Justin walked up to the stage happily, with Kain treading along close behind. When they reached the stage, a girl with brown hair and a fox tail caught Justin's eye. She seemed like she would faint with fear at any moment. Naturally, the goggle wearing redhead flashed her a warm smile, a smile that would let her know that there was nothing to fear. Justin was basically a saint. He loved to help people, and cheer them up, no matter how he did it. He would make an effort to talk to her later, and maybe help with her shyness problem.

Keiko looked around at the four boys who approached the stage. One of the boys who was wearing goggles on his head smiled at her, causing her to blush. She turned away quickly and looked up at her principal who was joined by the boys' principal. "Now, I'm sure none of you have met before, so I'm going to have my girls arrange themselves by year to make this easy for you boys." Keiko took her place between Samantha and Willow and watched as the four boys moved to pair themselves up. Keiko's face turned pink again when the boy with the goggles stood in front of her. "After this first song, the rest of you may join the dance floor," announced the boys' principle. Keiko closed her eyes and took a deep breath as the band started to play a slow song.
