Scytheress the Magnificent Scytheress strode confidently into the arena. All around her were the mumbling spectators in stadium seats. They chattered and snacked and chattered some more... it made the fox-elf itch. As she moved center-stage, she looked around. No sign of the warriors just yet. Scy scratched her exposed stomach idly as she kept watch. Just as she thought the pair weren't going to show, the crowd erupted in cheers to welcome the combatants. Scythe looked them both over briefly thinking it best not to keep their adoring fans waiting. "Welcome to the fight between Haikimaru and Mariara! Let the battle begin!" With her initial duties complete, Scytheress moved off to find a better vantage point.

 Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Maiara tentatively entered the arena; she was eager for a fight, but she wasn't expected the large crowd. She shook her head, clearing it of all that surrounded her. Only her opponent and the arena mattered. Her eyes scanned the area, looking for any treacherous bumps or rocks that could trip her up later. Maiara glanced up at the woman who shouted out; she supposed it was time to begin. What was his name? Haikimaru? She nodded to him with a slight smile before taking off her jacket and hat, putting them carefully to the side. Maiara smirked, feeling her animal friend's spirit getting anxious. Do you smell that too Wayra? He smells of fox, but not like you, or us. That woman announcer smells too of fox. Very curious. She made no mistake; she could tell this Haikimaru was some sort of fox being, but as one spirit. Not like her.
Upon returning to face her mysterious opponent, she quickly muttered a few words to her ancestors before speaking to him seriously with a polite nod, "Fight well, Haiikeemaroo." Maiara attempted with the pronunciation with his name, even though she had heard the woman yell it just moments before. She made no move to get into a fighting stance until she knew that her opponent was ready. It would be dishonorable to do so.

Haikimaru didn't draw his sword just yet. He bowed at 45 degree angle. This was the most honorable bow that he could give to his opponent. "I will fight you. Please treat me well and prepare to lose." The fox commented and then looked up. His hair was pulled back so it didn't get in the way. He then drew his sword and got into a stance ready to fight with his rival. He didn't really like that she was a girl, but that didn't mean he would fight, because it was honor that said he needed to win.

Jack walked over to the seating area and found a nice comfy spot towards the back. He could tell by the two combatants souls that one was fox-like, while the other used animals, as a reaper it was easy for Jack to tell what people where, and their exact age. Jack looked at both combatants weapons analyzing what they could possibly do or couldn't do with their weapons. While Jack sat idly bye, he wished he had actually signed up for the tournament. Jack loved to fight other people for competitive reasons.

Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Maiara flared her nostrils at his words, angry, but said nothing as she spread her feet and bent her knees slightly. Exhaling calmly, she took a few steps back slowly, gripping her bow tightly. She felt the familiar wood of the bow, from her homeland, beneath her palms as she held it up carefully. Her movements were all planned, deliberate, and careful. She did not want the instincts to kick in quite yet; Maiara wanted to watch the movements of Haikimaru, smell him as he moved. Her eyes never left him, as that would be one of the gravest mistakes she could ever make. His confidence could lead to mishaps. It could also be his downfall if he underestimated her. Maiara grinned maliciously, taunting her oppenent to make the first move.

Haikimaru stood his ground. He knew better than attacking unless he could find an opening. He took in what he could do with his powers and this sword while he waited to see if she would attack. He knew that hardwork and training won over talent. He sized Maiara up and watched her. Once she didn't make a move the boy knew he had to make her move. He moved one hand from his sword and with the other threw a fireball at her before quickly returning it to his sword.

Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Furrowing her brow, she resisted the urge to jump back; she sure hated fire. In a single quick motion, Maiara drew an arrow from her quiver, pulling it taught against the strings, and released, aiming straight for the oncoming fireball. Only once the arrow made contact with the fire did she jump to the side, to avoid the flame. A few, however, licked the side of her left arm, sending a few needles of pain up her arm. No matter, pain was nothing. Using the distraction of the arrow, she focused some of her healing energy towards it for a brief moment, just to prevent infection, but never took her eyes off the other student. To actually heal it in the midst of battle would be unwise, especially this early.
The feathers of the arrow, still in flight, were singed instantly and carried enough momentum towards her opponent. Waiting for the right moment, Maiara quickly sent two more arrows, one aiming to his left, the other to his right. She doubted the first arrow she sent, the one that hit the fire, would hit the fox man, but she wanted to test his agility.

This was a trick that the fox demon learned when he was little. The boy transformed into a fox carrying his blade in his mouth and leaving his clothes behind. He avoided the arrows and reappeared in a naked human form closer to the spirit creature. He didn't care about appearances at the moment. His focus was on the battle and he was proving that he would do anything to win.

Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Maiara jumped back instinctively; his smell was overwhelming. Her curiosity almost caused her to let her guard down, but she was intrigued. So he was indeed a fox man, although she never doubted her nose. He was only one spirit, she had never heard of such a thing. It appeared Wayra was dumbfounded as well although his spirit was restless, itching for her to actually fight the fox.
She did not give much attention to his nakedness. It was of little matter concerning battle. Surprised he hadn't attacked her with his sword, she narrowed her eyes, suspicious. Holding up her bow once again, she shot another arrow, aiming for his feet.

The arm didn't bother him he just jump stepped before aiming his the blunt part of the sword at her hands. He wanted to be the greatest. The best warriors in the world could disarm the greatest fool without shedding blood or jump naked from a bath to do so. His hope that she would drop her bow.

Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Maiara figured out what he was trying to do and it did not matter. Her arrows were not hitting him anyways, so she dropped her weapon before his sword would hit her hands. She needed her hands uninjured more than her precious bow at the moment. Although her bow meant much to her, winning took top priority at the moment. After dropping her weapon, she aimed a swift jab with her palm at his right shoulder, near the collar bone, at his pressure point. Without her bow, it would be easier to maneuver around, putting her lithe body to more use.

Haikimaru pushed the bow over the side of the arena with his naked foot. She wouldn't be able to use it on him now. He let the girl hit his collar. He had thick skin and could take it. Even if it hurt a bit. He nearly dropped his sword fumbling with it a little. Haiki tossed the sword once he was sure he wouldn't he able to hold it. If he could hold it then no one could. He then knew that wrestling was the only choice. He tackled the girl. His naked body crashing into hers.

Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Maiara gnashed her teeth, angry he would just kick her bow aside with his naked food like some sort of trash. But she didn't have time to complete the thought before she felt the impact of the naked fox man crash into her own body. "Ooof" The noise escaped her lips as she dug her feet into the ground, but falling anyways under the impact. She couldn't take him by brute strength alone, it would be foolish for her to try. So after her initial resistence, she gave into the strength of his, going towards the earth. Moments before hitting the ground, she shifted to Wayra. Instead of getting squished, the brief opening allowed the white arctic fox to scramble to safety. She definitely would develop bruises later, but the rush of battle had her alert and full of adrenaline as she began to circle him.

Needless to say without the fox spirit under him Haiki hit his family jewels against the harder surface. Yeah it hurt. Badly. His first reaction was to cover it with his hands as he keeled over in pain. Leaving his back open to attack. The girl still had some weapon up her sleeve at least. The kitsune tried to cram his head around to watch her, but the pain prevented him for long.

Maiara Kaneonuskatew
Maiara jumped off his back quickly, waiting for him to get up and recover. She respected her opponent and would not attack because he had some misfortune with his manhood. It was an unspoken law not to take advantage. Circling him once again, the white fox spoke, "We are impressed with your strength, fox with purple hair." Finally, when she was facing him, she sat, her tail thrashing. It was strange to hear a fox speak for most people, but she was sure he wouldn't give it a second thought.
