Kipofu yawned and stretched, happy to feel warm sun on her fur. Mmmm...such a nice day already, and she'd only been awake a moment or so! The blind lioness did so enjoy the feel of the warm sun on her fur, the cool earth on her belly, and the warmth of her best friend and 'eyes' curled up against her side. After a moment longer of enjoying the sun, she nudged at her ratel friend with her nose.
"Nasiha~ Time to wake up! It's a new day, all warm and full of promise!" Perhaps she was a far too cheery thing...but that was simply how she was. She wasn't the sort to let what she couldn't enjoy get in the way of what she could. She felt Nasiha stir and heard him yawn. A grunt from him acknowledged he was waking before he even spoke.
"D'ya have to be quite so cheerful first thing, Kipofu?" A giggle was his response. "Fine, fine. I'm getting up. What's on today's agenda, oh Queen of Cheer?"
"I want to explore today! Maybe visit the borders!"

Tamana was a ridiculously happy lion. He had a loving family (even if it was...dysfunctional at times), a good position in the pride that he enjoyed, a usually full belly, and a lady that even the mere thought of made his heart soar. Perhaps others might say Mvua wasn't beautiful, but to Tamana she was the most gorgeous feline in the world, with a beauty that shone from the inside as well as showed on the outside, under all her scars. The green-maned lion purred as he walked...
And then stopped as a half-familiar, cheerful voice chirped something. Tama looked in the direction it came from to see Usiku'nuru's niece, Kipofu. And sighed.
"I don' think tha's such a good idea, Miss Kipofu. Ya might get hurt."

Kipofu's ears swiveled around as she...sort of looked at Tamana. More like looked in his general direction. She recognized that voice! Her Aunt Tanny was mates with one of his brothers, if she remembered right. The girl just smiled at Tamana.
"Oh, I'll be fine, Navigator Tamana! I'll have Nasiha with me, and he'll keep me safe!" The mentioned ratel sighed and gave Tamana a long-suffering look. Sometimes, being the girl's 'eyes' was hard.
"Navigator Tamana is right, though, Kipofu. The borders are rough territory in some places." Kipofu pouted, annoyed that once again she was being denied an adventure.

Tamana resisted the urge to facepaw, sighing at Kipofu's cheer. He smiled slightly at Nasiha, glad the ratel agreed with him. And then his ears dropped as Kipofu pouted. Oh no...just...ugh. Dammit. He sighed again.
"If ya REALLY wanna go...I c'n accompany ya?" Damn girls and their adorableness.

Nasiha gave Tamana a look of 'you idiot'. He couldn't be serious about ENCOURAGING her?! Oh geez...Mister Set and Miss Taswira were going to skin him...
Kipofu, on the other hand, was positively elated. "Really?! Oh thank you!" She grinned brightly. "I promise I'll be good and stay nearby, Tamana!" She was going exploring! Her pale eyes looked to Nasiha. "Isn't this wonderful, Nasiha?"
Naisha sighed and nodded. "Of course, Kipofu..."

The dark lion smiled sheepishly at Nasiha, mouthing 'I hate seeing a girl disappointed'. He chuckled at Kipofu and nudged her shoulder carefully. "Ya'd better. Yer Uncle'd skin me if somethin' happened t' ya." He turned in the direction of the borders. "Now...if ya'd follow me, lady 'n gent!"

Nasiha laughed and followed Tamana, Kipofu not far behind, folling Nasiha's familiar scent. "Don't forget her father and mother! They'd be pretty damned livid as well." Kipofu huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Then I'll just have to be careful, now won't I?" Why did people always think she was helpless just because she couldn't see like them? Even without Nasiha, she was a fairly self-sufficient lioness! She could even catch mice and the occasional hare!

Tamana looked uncertain about that. "'Ey Kipofu...why don't ya jus' stay in th' main area o' th' pride? Safer there." He didn't understand why someone who couldn't see wanted to explore...they were missing out on half the wonder of the world anyways!

"Because I don't want to." Kipofu was used to the question. "I want to experience new things, meet new creatures. Just because I can't see doesn't mean I'm afraid of the world, Tamana." In fact...not having her sight made her even more eager to experience it in her own way. "I can still hear and smell and taste and feel."
Nasiha let Kipofu talk, knowing the 'speal' himself. She'd used it on him whenever he started getting too overprotective. Despite her 'disability', Kipofu was an amazingly determined and lively lioness.

Tamana was surprised by the adolescent...and smiled slightly. Well, she answered him quite well. But...it was still strange. "Well...what kinda of new things do you want to experience, Kipofu? What kind of new creatures do you want to meet?" He vaguely wondered what things he took for granted sight-wise were like from her point of view. Surely she experienced some things different, since she didn't see. Like...the sun! And clear days.

Kipofu thought a moment...then shrugged. "Everything. I don't mind the bad along with the good. Just makes the good that much better!" She danced a bit, Nasiha dodging her paws. "I wanna feel the wind in my fur and the sun on my back! One day I want to feel the mythical ocean waters at my paws, and I want to sing with birds I've never met before!"
Nasiha couldn't help but chuckle. "What, is my singing not enough?" Kipofu's nose wrinkled.
"You're a ratel, and your singing is horrible, Nasiha!" The ratel gave Tamana a wicked grin.
"So is yours, Kipofu." He got an indignant 'hey!' from her that made him laugh.

Tamana laughed along with Nasiha. "Perhaps one day ya'll get t' do those things. 'N' no worries...my singin' is HOR'BLE too. Bes' I c'n do withou' torturin' some poor soul's ears is hum." He rather liked the vivacity of the young lioness. It was a sort of life that was nice to see in the pride. "So...wha's a clear day t' ya?"

The lioness laughed brightly. "Well! If we ever have invaders, we could torment them with our horrible singing! Surely that would make them turn tail and run!" Nasiha nodded, grinning.
"Most certainly. We are the Matembezi's secret weapon! Perhaps we should let the Commanders know, so they know to plug their ears when we open our mouths?" Kipofu giggled.
"No, no...We are so secret, not even the Commanders know we are their secret weapon!" Oh she was having so much fun! They weren't even at the border and already she was feeling like heart heart was flying! "A clear day? Hmmm..." She smiled. "Well...it's the warmth of the sun on my back. And a gentle breeze ruffling my fur and the whisper of grass singing as the wind darts through it. It's the rustle of leaves, and the promise of good things to come."
Nasiha stared at Kipofu a moment, before smiling widely. His charge was quite the poet sometimes. And she didn't even need colors or shapes or such...simply feelings and sounds and emotions.

"Secret weapon, huh? We're certainly th' oddest secret weapon ever!" Tamana was smiling brightly by this point, glad he'd decided to go on this little adventure with the pair. And Kipofu's description of a clear day was...magnificent. He closed his eyes, imagining it the way she described it, stopping. And took a deep breath. "I think I like th' way ya describe it better'n th' way I see it..." Yeah...it seemed almost...magical the way she described it. Almost unreal.

Kipofu giggled and trotted up to him, using his scent and the sound of his voice as reference. She still bumped into him though. "Don't take things for granted. Life is better when you appreciate everything, big or small, that comes your way."
Nasiha joined the two, sitting down. "She's right. Life is best enjoyed by the moment. Even if you plan ahead, don't hold too fast to that plan, in case something comes along to shake it up." Kipofu nodded.
"Right! Now come on! We have a border to explore!" She started off again, and Nasiha sighed and followed after her, trying to get ahead of her.
