Sonkurra-Taichou, having survived all previous attempts on his life, had now snapped. He believed he was the cult’s Chosen One and, thus, could not die. He had been gathering his suspicions and they all pointed in one direction: Ginji of Thunder.
He marched along to Ginji’s dwelling, fully prepared for anything, which is to say, he had a rope. I mean, what use is protection if you cannot die, right?
He confidently rapped on Ginji’s door, to no answer.
“Ginji!” he called out. “I order you to come out! I know you’re responsible for at least half of the murders! You’ll pay for that!”
He felt the familiar thud of a bullet hitting against the back of his knee, however, this time, he felt pain. He dropped to the floor and rolled over to face his attacker. A hooded figure stood there, holding a silenced pistol. The figure slowly began to walk toward Sonkurra, unscrewing the silencer.
“I want you to hear your long-awaited demise, Sonkurra,” the figure said.
“That voice...” Sonkurra said, struggling through the pain. “You’re not Ginji at all!”
“Correct,” the figure said, dropping the silencer to the floor. “Remember the phrase, it’s always the one you least suspect?”
The figure drew back his hood. Moseley stood there, smiling.
“Y-you!” Sonkurra gasped.
A gunshot. Sonkurra’s arm immediately began bleeding, causing him to drop the rope.
“Yes, me,” Mose said. “You’ve avoided death at every corner. Now though, it’s your time to go.”
Sonkurra’s life flashed before his eyes. Life on the surface, his initiation into the cult, the two previous attempts on his life, they all showed up with a vengeance.
“Plead for forgiveness with Satan when you reach Hell,” Mose said menacingly. He fired one last shot, into Sonkurra’s head.
==================================================================
Mose clicked the button on his walkie-talkie. He spoke into it with urgency.
“Viper, I’m glad we managed to meet up. Have you found Ginji yet?”
The walkie-talkie crackled, then Heavensdark’s voice came through.
“I haven’t been able to find him yet. I think he may have already been taken to the temple. I’m en route now.”
Mose cursed.
“We need to find him before he can be sacrificed,” he said. “We have no idea how close they are to bringing the Dark Ones into the world right now and I don’t like the idea of them getting any closer.”
Heaven acknowledged the comment and put the walkie-talkie away. She had her trusty blowgun with her. It stopped a sacrifice before and it should stop this one, just as long as she could get to the temple in time.
She ran as fast as she could. The elders could not be allowed to complete the ritual!
Ginji, as expected, was bound and was currently lying on the pedestal. The elder was raising the hatchet, she had to act now!
She fired a dart at Ginji’s neck. The dart flew through the air, but a portal tore open in front of it. The dart was lost in the void.
The elder swung the hatchet down and embedded it in Ginji’s chest. After a brief, agonising moment, he lay still, his blood slowly running onto the pedestal.
“No!” exclaimed Heaven, as she watched the blood seep into the gaps at the bottom of the pedestal.
The elder turned and faced her.
“You are too late!” he called out. “The ritual is complete! The Dark Ones will live again!”
As he spoke, a crackling, purple beam of energy began circling the pedestal. A much larger version of the portal previously used to defend Ginji as a sacrifice opened atop it, pulling Ginji upwards. Ginji’s body disintegrated slowly as it neared the portal.
An unearthly wailing began to filter into the room from the portal. Some of the burly thugs began to knock their knees together in fear as the wailing got louder and louder.
Heavensdark watched on in shock. Moseley appeared behind her.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
“I...I failed...” she replied.
Seven shadowy outlines began to appear. The elder began to cackle like a madman.
The outlines began to solidify and were now more like silhouettes. The first silhouette stepped forward.
“Hattie’s back!” it said, as slowly, the forms of those sacrificed began to take shape.
Hattie stood there, partly see-through and grey, but nevertheless, he was there. A menacing grin was on his face. He turned to the other sacrifice victims. Ginji was busy pressing on himself in a vain attempt to figure out what exactly was going on.
“Right, we thought this might happen,” Hattie said. “To be honest, sod the Dark Ones for now, who’s up for some revenge?”
Buzz, murder in his eyes charged forward at the elder. He tore the elder’s arm off with ease, spreading his blood across the room.
“I told you there would be blood!” he screamed before pummelling the man in the face.
Hattie dove forward at one of the three standing behind the elder. He beat him senseless, before turning to see the thin, rat-like man ripping another limb-from-limb.
Equinoxious, enraged at the burly thugs, began slicing one up with her small knife she had been using for the sacrifices as a Spirit Watcher. IntermittentShiningLights, who had arrived in the Sacrificial Afterlife shortly before they were transported back to Earth, began to do this same.
Insomnesiac, evidently angered by all her hard work going to waste, began stabbing everything nearby her with a pen.
Ginji finally realised what was going on. He descended to where the elder, now treading the line between life and death, lay.
“You were more interested in killing us all, rather than bringing back the Dark Ones, weren’t you?!” he shouted angrily, before kicking the man sharply in the ribs.
Astonished, Moseley and Heavensdark merely watched on as the rest of the cult was horribly decimated by its own former members.
After a short while, the rampage ended, with the entire cult now lying, mutilated beyond recognition, on the ground.
All of them surrounded the pedestal where they had died. Nodding to one another, they each proceeded to smash at it. The pedestal crumbled to dust, emitting a bright flash. The group all rolled their eyes back into their heads and began to ascend into the air. Another bright flash, then they all disappeared. They had moved on to the true afterlife.
Both Viper and Mongoose’s walkie-talkies started crackling.
“This is GCO, can anyone hear me. Respond!” the voice on the other end said.
“This is Mongoose,” said Moseley.
“This is Viper,” said Heavensdark..
“Ah, Viper, Mongoose. Status report?”
“Mission accomplished,” they both said at the same time.
==================================================================
Meanwhile, in the sacrificial afterlife...
Lord Bat-Winged Squid-Head looked around at the other Dark Ones.
“WELL, WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE WE DO NOW?” it asked no-one in particular.
“I SUPPOSE WE COULD PLAY A GAME OF MONOPOLY OR SOMETHING,” suggested Lord Hastur.
“OOH, I’LL GO AND GET THE BOARD!” said The Worm That Gnaws In The Night excitedly.
==================================================================
Game over! Agents win!
Sonkurra-Taichou finally met his end!
Ginji of Thunder was saved from being poisoned! Unfortunately, that meant he got sacrificed!
Everyone congratulate Agent Mongoose, Moseley, and Agent Viper, Heavensdark!

Oddly enough, I found it a lot harder to care about the game with the private voting.

Fail horribly we did. Yes. I actually liked the private voting. It eliminated the whole "YOUR THE KILLER BECAUSE YOU ARE VOTING FOR ______" deal.

Well, the private voting is by no means permanent, just a little thing for people to play around with. I think we all agree we need to cut down on random sheeping and this method kills it completely.
