No the topic title is not a mistake; I wish to talk about all the Space Mountains!

First I'll explain my relationship with this ride; I actually have only been on one Space Mountain, however I often watch the others on youtube... as I have a general interest for coasters anyway... especially older coasters... or coasters with music. I personally really want to ride the Californian Space Mountain; mainly because of the actual music played during the ride. I have seen the Floridian Space Mountain (the original) in action but never went on it. *sighs* My reasoning was that I thought it was like the one in France which has inversions and I didn't like inversions back then... back then being about ten years ago.

Okay which Space Mountain have I been on? Well I decided to brave Disneyland Paris' in 2007... and found it to be the most brilliant ride I had ever been on! Unfortantly I never got to ride the original version of it because they updated it to Mission 2 a while ago now. I am so obsessed with this ride; and its been three to four years now... I must go back to DLP soon otherwise I'll cry! Not to mention its exterior design is rather steampunk (infact most of Discoveryland is)... Space Mountain is based on 'From the Earth to the Moon' by Jules Verne after all... well the original version was anyways.

Anyone else here love Space Mountain? (any of them?) I want to know what its really like to ride the one in California. ^_^

Videos:

Remember that these rides are very dark; but hey at least you get the atmopshere and in two of them... the MUSIC!

Original Space Mountain (After Refurbishment), Disney World

Space Mountain, Disneyland California

Space Mountain: Mission 2, Disneyland Paris This video switches between different views but its the best one I could find that has the music.

Space Mountain: Mission 2 Exterior, Disneyland Paris

Yes I watch ride videos; theme parks are very important to me, they're the only place outside of the home where I feel confident.

Soundtrack Videos:

I love the music to these rides; so much that I have two of the tracks on my ipod.

Space Mountain California

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy

Space Mountain Mission 2

Bonus Video

Nothing to do with Space Mountain; but here's a video that explains why Disneyland Paris is awesome;

Frollo steals candy!

I was actually there that year... during the Halloween season too! Didn't watch the show that preceeded that video though [Halloween Showtime; its a villains show]; but I've watched it online... I really need to visit DLP again. Infact they even have Clopin as a main character in the other halloween show and he's in the car parade afterwards.

Which one? Disney World?

BTW probably should mention (even though a kinda already did... sort of) that only the Paris Space Mountain has inversions... four I think.

No. Disneyland. I never saw Disneyworld's before it got renovated. But Disneyland... oh the memories...

Oh wow; I really want to ride that one. What's it like? I mean when did they change it? I know it used to have a different soundtrack... but as you can tell videos don't capture how awesome the rides actually look.

Disneyland and California Adventure are two parks I really want to visit... but they're so far away!

Its fun. I take my glasses off to ride it now because there aren't any interesting visuals to look at anymore. Just a bunch of sparkly lights that are supposed to be "stars". They used to have planets and galaxies and shooting stars and all sorts of actual SPACE stuff. Now... it's like the room of stars in Peter Pan, only at a higher speed with sharper turns.

However, I do like the music. Its got a bit of a surfer feel to it with some Aquarium by Saint-Seans mixed in. Very nice.

I didn't know there used to be planets etc. on that one; there is for Paris... lots of pretty effects!

Anyway the music for the Californian Space Mountain is lovely; its kinda old-skool sci-fi which I love~

You know what else I want to ride? The Matterhorn.

The Matterhorn is kinda jerky at D-land. Some of the skinnyer people get bruises on their sides from sliding in the cab on turns. I suggest riding it with a "big" friend.

Really? Hmmm... well I still want to ride it at least once; I like old coasters. Also I don't think any other Disney parks have that ride.

My favorite Disneyland ride will forever be the Tea Cups. heart I love everything about it. The bright colors, the music the spinning, the feeling afterward... BEST RIDE EVER!

However, my favorite ride overall is California Screamin'. I heart new roller-coasters.

Oh the Tea Cups! I rode those at night in Paris; awesome stuff... but my sister didn't help turn it so I got kinda worn out after a while.

And I recently watched a video of Screamin'; that coaster looks amazing... especially at night... very pretty!

I've only been on the Disney World one. After it was refurbished. I think the main thing they had to change was the seat belts in the ride, because well...there was an accident...

I guess I'm not 100% sure if it's true, but my parents told me about it so I don't know.

Hmm... well there have been accidents on the rides, but I think that's true for many rides.

Very true. Though, not WDW's fault at all really.
