He had stayed up late. Again.

This wasn't an unusual thing, nor was it odd or out of place. In fact, staying up until all hours of the morning had become a sort of daily routine for Renaissance, one that he couldn't - and didn't particularly want to anyway - break. Most of the time it was due to late night Scario Kart competitions with LW, though other times it was watching movies, entertaining himself by providing loud, obnoxious commentary during Gabrian and LW's skareoke contests. Then there was also the times where it was just him and Alessa, curled up on his pillow pile to watch a movie, or simply to just cuddle and talk. Ren liked those nights best, though the others were never too far behind. When he woke up in the mornings, he expected to see at least one of them there with him. It had turned into it being strange if there wasn't someone else in the room with him in the morning.

This particular morning was no exception. Ren, sleeping on his wide bed, blinked blearily awake, stretching out tired limbs and rolling over, halfway tangled in the sheets and blankets. He rubbed one of his eyes, yawning, and glanced sleepily around the room. Sure enough, a familiar redhead was lying in his room, nestled comfortably and warmly into the mass pillow pile next to his closet. LW was still sound asleep, Rhys napping a few feet away from her.

Stumbling from the bed (and almost falling flat on his face), Ren made his way across the room, scratching his bare stomach and flopping down beside LW, tugging on a strand of her hair.

"Wakey wakey, little wolfy," he said, yawning again. "Time 'ta get up~"

Last night had started out fine and like it usually did. She'd been hanging with everyone and decided for once, she would go to bed early. Except that is not what happened. No, she had gotten a phone call from home. This was not, in anyway something that was unpleasant.

Except when it was her sister calling. That just...was not a good thing. At. All.

The she-wolf was not sure how her sister had found out (though she figured it had to have been her mother via her father), but Savannah knew she now had a boilfriend. And her sister had definitely had a few words to say about that. Most of which revolved around LW not being mature enough or good enough to have a boilfriend. Especially when she, the better female, was boilfriendless at the moment. From there, it just got nasty until LW had hung up and buried her head in a pillow.

And wound up trudging up to her best friends room not wanting to be alone.

Her tail twitched and playfully whacked at the gryphon when she heard his voice through the sleep fog. "Really...? Do I have to?" LW twisted enough to blink up at him. "Sleeping was much more enjoyable."

Her small body stretched and she rubbed at her eyes (was that Rhys sleeping nearby?), still feeling some of the weariness from that phone call. Speaking of phone, the she-wolf patted at her body before sighing. Good. She hadn't brought her phone with her. Savannah would be calling again. To b***h.

Violet eyes regarded the gryphon, her usual spark missing for the moment. "Say, Ren?" That fluffy tail thumped against the floor a little as she worked to phrase her question. Then she gave up trying to be subtle. "I have a problem. What...what the hell do I wear to the Scareintine party?" This was something her sister had brought up as well. And it was nagging at the she-wolf.

Ren caught LW's tail as it flicked towards him, fluffing it up a bit with his hands as he settled more comfortably down into his pillow pile. It had become a sort of home for the four of them, and he very much enjoyed both the pillows and the company. He had not had such close friends before, and he liked LW, Gabrian, and Alessa much better than his own family. Now that he had rather settled himself into their little quartet, it was almost strange to try and remember life before them, how he had dealt with things before meeting all of them.

Ah, well. It did him no good to dwell on the past. What mattered was the present, and at the present moment, LW was having a crisis - or so it seemed. Ren raised an eyebrow, twisting his head to look at his best friend.

"Er," he said, somewhat confused. "And I'm supposed to know this how, exactly...?"

The Scarentine Ball was coming up, and although Ren had not exactly figured out a way to cleverly ask Alessa to go with him (he might just ask her straight out instead of attempting to be cutesy about it; it was not that big of a deal, right?), he had also come up with a similar conundrum: namely he had no idea whatsoever what on earth he was wearing.

"Sorry, wolflove," Ren said, frowning a bit. "I'm not...yeah, I really have no idea. I don't even know what I'm going to wear myself. Is it formal or semi-formal? Or just 'hey let's party' kinda dress?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2011 9:16 pm

Couldn't she just...go back to sleep? She didn't think this would happen but, she still didn't make any effort to get up just yet either. Instead she pursed her lips and frowned up at Ren. Really, she hadn't thought he would be the best choice to ask. In fact, she should have gone to Alessa, but...well after her lovely chat with her darling sister LW had gone to the room she spent just as much time in as her own.

"I...I don't know!" The she-wolf rolled and shoved her head back into a pillow, a few mumbles things being uttered. Groaning she twisted her head enough to peek up again. "Because you are not as new to looking cute for someone as I am?" She tried but didn't believe. "Or maybe I just figured your family would have forced you to learn how to dress properly." That sounded better, but still wasn't what was really bothering her.

She frowned some more and glanced away from his eyes. Her gaze ended up on his stomach. And the freckles scattered all over. Why did he make freckles look so cute? Cute. That word. Something she heard quite often associated with her name. Cute is for dogs and babies. And little nuisances. NOT werewolves. Ah, there. That was it. She didn't want to look just 'cute', but something more than that. Something that didn't make her feel like a little kid or a crappy werewolf.

"Umm..." she rolled so she was facing him, tail draped across his lap. "There...is a difference?" Yep. She was completely out of her league here. But, she was suffering from the new experience of wanting to actually look good for someone special.

Watching him, LW sighed heavily. "My...Savannah called last night. She somehow found out about Gabrian." There. That should answer A LOT of questions. LW had mentioned the...dislike between her sister and herself. It was pretty easy to fill in what Vanna might have said.

"I want to prove her wrong." LW informed him with a small and rare angry glint to her eyes. "And to do that, I need...help."

Ren yawned, nestling closer to LW, leaning his head against hers as he absently ran his fingers along her tail, resting against his bare stomach. "Am I supposed to be looking cute?" he asked, arching an eyebrow. He knew what she meant, however, and the thought made him sigh, picking at a stray thread on a pillow. He had, in fact, a great deal of knowledge when it came to "looking proper," considering that his parents had forced him into wearing certain things. The gryphon state of mind was, after all, pride and elegance. This meant that Ren had attended too many parties that he hadn't wanted to, been pushed into going to too many snobbish, elitist gatherings.

LW shifted, moving to face him, and Ren turned his head to look at her. "Yes, there's a difference," he said, smiling, but his smile faltered when she kept speaking. He sighed again, lifting a hand to rest lightly on the side of her face.

"Savannah is not you, and you are not your sister," he said seriously, looking straight at her. "Ignore what she says, what she does, what she wants to know." A grin tugged at his mouth. "Besides, Savannah isn't nearly as awesome as you are, so you can quit comparing yourself to her."

Pecking a quick kiss to her forehead, Ren pushed himself up into a sitting position, twisting around to look down at her. "Are you asking me to go shopping with you?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

She really didn't like bringing up the fact that yes, he actually was the perfect person to ask about these sort of things. The she-wolf knew he and his family didn't see eye to eye. But, Vanna had gotten to her. Again. And LW had gone to the only person that her mind had thought of at the time.

LW was trapped by his gaze as he spoke and she did listen carefully to his words. She did try not to compare herself to her sister, but it was hard. Especially when she only had one and that sister was the epitome of girly while the younger was one of the guys. Insecure. The she-wolf was always insecure about herself when it came to actually trying to look cute.

Her lips curled into a small smile at the quick friendly kiss. "I promise to try." She answered to what he had said before. "Really, I will." Those violets got brighter and a real smile appeared at his question. "Yep! You are my shopping date today. And..." her cheeks may have gotten a little pink, "well, you may know what would be best to...get to please Gabrian."

Sitting up she looked at him and groaned before letting her head fall against his chest. "Damnit Ren! Don't laugh, alright? I...I have never worn a dress to a party before." A pause. "Hell, I haven't really ever been to a 'party' before." And another pause. She was not doing well and her sentences were probably getting faster. "Alright that isn't true. I have been to parties, but I don't think this will quite be like the werewolf parties. Just the fact that everyone will be clothed is a major difference."

Mental note to self: STOP. TALKING. NOW.

Ren let out a snort. "Oh, I am, am I?" he said, shaking his head. He didn't particularly want to go shopping, but the blush that crossed LW's face, combined with the semi-bashful smile, were pretty much irresistible, and Ren found himself somewhat unable to refuse.

"Oh, for Jack's sake," he said in mock exasperation, arms going around her to hug her tightly for a moment, teetering from side to side as stumbled towards the dresser, not letting go of the shewolf quite yet. "You are hopeless, you realize that? Fine, I'll help you, but only if you take me to lunch."

He was only half serious about the lunch part, but Ren let out a sigh, giving LW one last squeeze before he let go. "Lemme get dressed and then we can go."

Digging around in his dresser, Ren pulled out a clean teeshirt, tossing it behind him onto the bed. A pair of jeans followed the shirt, and Ren stepped briefly into the bathroom, stripping off his pajama bottoms in favor of the jeans.

"Do you need to change?" he called out through the door, left open because A.) he was too lazy to close it and B.) he'd never really had an issue with getting naked in front of others before. "I think you left some of your clothes here the last time, but if you want to wear something else, we can stop by your place on the way to the maul."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:01 am

She made a small noise of confirmation. Yes, he was going shopping with her. Maybe. Hopefully. Well, if he said no, the she-wolf figured she could go ask Alessa. And then just hope they didn't get distracted looking at everything else in the maul.

His arms were around her in a tight hug as they stumbled towards...actually she couldn't see it, but she was pretty sure it was his dresser. A squeak escaped and she blinked up at him with a sheepish look. "I...I am not!" She protested as her cheeks remained a little brighter than usual. "I..." Candlejack. "oh alright, I know I am! But that is why I have you." LW sighed and tilted her head up towards his. "Fine. Deal. I'll take you to lunch." She didn't mind. He was going to help her! That meant quite a bit to her. Of course she would take him to lunch if that was what he wanted!

LW watched as one clothing item followed by another went sailing onto the bed. This made her glance down at herself and she figured it would probably be best to change. Though she did love her little boxer shorts...

The she-wolf was, not oblivious, but really didn't care that he left the bathroom door open. Not that she was paying attention. As soon as he mentioned something about having spare clothes somewhere here, she started to sift through his clothes. This carried her towards one cute, white furball that had a devious streak as bad as her own. Glancing towards the bathroom, LW crouched down and scratched Rhys on the head gently. And was that some of her pants?

She snatched them up and looked around. Shirt...there has to be a shirt nearby. Something purple caught her eye and the she-wolf triumphantly snagged her shirt. Since the bathroom was occupied, she just shot a look over her shoulder, shrugged and changed into pants and more presentable shirt right there.

Dressed, she folded her sleep wear up and set it down out of the way near his pillows. Always nice to have spare clothing up here. Ren had stuff down in her room as well. As well as Gabe and Alessa.

"I'm good now. Found some of my clothes. Besides, I don't feel like having my tail chewed on this early in the day."

"Is Billy Bob still causing you issues?" Ren called out to LW. He could hear her changing in the other room, and finished dressing, he leaned against the doorway, waiting for her to finish. "I told you to just throw things at him to get him to be quiet."

Once he could hear the rustling noises stop, Ren stepped from the bathroom, stretching one arm up, the other pressed over his mouth to stifle the yawn that escaped. "So," he said, stepping over a pile of dropped clothing, too lazy to lean down and pick them up. "How's this sound for a plan - we hit the maul, try on a few things, grab some lunch, and then come back and spend the afternoon watching movies. We can invite the others over too, if you want." Ren paused for a moment, hesitating just the slightest as he rubbed the back of his neck. "It, ah...would be nice to have, you know...some best friend time too, though."

It was not that he had a problem with inviting the others over, nor did he have a problem with LW and Gabrian dating. He himself was dating Alessa, and their little quartet was his favorite thing about being at Amityville High. But sometimes he missed the times he spent just with LW alone, with his best friend.

"Anyway," Ren said, brushing it off with a smile. "Shall we head to the maul now, little wolf?"

Reaching out, Ren scooped up a leather jacket and pushed his arms through the sleeves, throwing open the door and stepping outside. He spread his hands wide as he gave an extravagant bow, winking at LW.

"After you, Miss Wolf~!"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 10, 2011 10:43 pm

At mention of her mimic, LW shot the gryphon a dirty look that he couldn't see until he walked out. "When isn't BB causing issues?" The she-wolf retorted and sighed heavily. "And I have said before, I have TRIED this. As well as throwing him." A shiver raced down her spine. "Yeah...I don't plan on trying either of those again. My tail hurt for days! And I didn't sleep much."

LW's tail flicked back and forth as she eyed the gryphon and a smile crept across her lips. "I say...that sounds like a pretty good plan, kitten." The word was drawled out a little in a teasing manner. She gave him an innocent smile that slowly faded as he seemed to pause in what he was saying. Oh. OH! LW, though she could be quite oblivious to things at times, understood what he was trying to say without any disrespect for the other two. Hell, she had to admit she felt that way sometimes too.

Stepping carefully so she didn't accidentally smush one of Ren's minipets (like Rhys who was somewhere near her feet still), LW walked over to the door on light feet. The dancer in her showing briefly stepped out the door and around her best friend. A soft giggle escaped and she moved to lean against him for a minute.

"Best friend time sounds wonderful to me." She said warmly. "The others won't be offended." Eyes twinkling, she let her tail get a good thump on his backside before she pranced just out of reach and twirled around, looking back at him from over her shoulder.

"Come on, kitten! You're mine for the day."

"I'm pretty sure BB lives to cause issues," Ren replied breezily, casting a mischievous glance back at the werewolf, but the grin faded somewhat when she leaned against him, and he smiled at her, briefly brushing his fingers down the side of her face. "I'm glad to hear it," he said and then smirked, his attempt to dodge the tail that thwapped at him failing. "Oho, playing coy now are we, little one? And where is this 'kitten' nickname coming from, eh? Since when am I a cat?"

The trip to the maul was only a short distance away, and pretty soon the two of them were ensconced within the large, expansive building, Ren's shoes making soft thumps on the sleek tile floor. He tended to avoid places like the maul for two reasons. One: all of the previous times he had been, save for once or twice, he had been dragged unwillingly along with his sister and forced into carrying all of her many bags of clothing, jewelry, and makeup around for hours, until she grew tired and then would drag himself back to their home and collapse exhausted into his bed. And then two: the last time he had been at the maul, he'd met that little black dog - Tybalt, was it? - and been drenched by the fountain in the middle of the maul. Needless to say, his experiences had not been the greatest.

However, this was not for him, it was for his best friend, and for his other best friend by extension, since LW was obviously going with Gabrian to the dance...party...thing. Ren was determined to make her walk away with a dress that would make jaws drop, and to do that, he had to have the right attitude. Which was, to say the least, a positive one, and a slightly stubborn one.

"Now," Ren said, clapping his hands and then rubbing them together in excitement (surprising, for he usually dreaded shopping). "Where should we start, wolflove?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 13, 2011 11:50 am

The she-wolf gave a dramatic sigh with a roll of her eyes. "Now that, dear gryphon, I agree with." She personally just felt that her mimic was out to get her for his own enjoyment. It was a sadistic little thing like that. LW was still trying to figure out why she didn't just get rid of him. If it was possible. This was questionable, seeing as BB had his ways. HIS WAYS.

Bright violet eyes regarded him with mischief at his question of her new nickname for him. "Well, last time I checked, you were a gryphon." LW tugged at a wing gently before snagging his tail. "A cat-bird. Gabrian already calls you bird brain, so I felt you needed a name to address the feline half of you." She dropped his tail and walked next to him with a little bounce in her step. She was never able to remain in any other mood except a happy one when around her best friend.

Upon entering the maul, the she-wolf's eyes were darting all about, taking in everything that was around them. A place like this, so big with so many creatures shopping about, poked at the wolf in her to know where everyone and everything was at. And then there was that infamous curiosity that would have her slowing her pace slightly as she stared at something before she'd bounce back over to Ren. At least she wasn't as bad as some of the little kids squealing and making loud noises. Or here with her siblings. They tended to be ALL over the place.

"What?" LW pulled her gaze away from one of the kiosks that had shiny's. She had thought there were bells there, but no. It was just jewelery.

"Umm..." She glanced from Ren to the stores around them, then back to him. He seemed pretty excited right now. It made her smile. But that lasted for a few seconds before a small frown (if she heard the word 'cute' she'd pop someone's jaw) formed. Arms crossed she tried to think of what exactly she wanted to accomplish. Besides getting a dress for the party. Dance. Whatever. "Someplace that...has clothing nice enough for the party?" Her eyes traveled around and spied a store nearby. "How about in there." The she-wolf pointed. It seemed to have dresses in it. But were they the right kind of dress? She was definitely out of her element here.

"You realize I have no idea what I'm doing, right?" Ren said, standing with his hands on his hips as he surveyed the shops of the maul with a scrutinizing expression. "It's not as if I know where to shop; I mean, I've been here many times with Eval, but her kind of shopping is mostly the kind of shopping that has something to do with the way my parents dress. They're all kind of ridiculous, so I never really paid attention."

He followed LW's gaze towards the shop, tapping a finger against his chin thoughtfully. "I don't think that's quite what we're looking for, wolflove," he mused, gaze sliding to the left, then to the right. "How about this one over here?"

Taking ahold of LW's wrist, he tugged the werewolf forward, threading through the thick crowds towards a large, elaborate looking shop with fake gold pillars standing on either side. Inside there were dozens of ghouls with their noses pressed to the racks, eyes wide, small giggles and excited shrieks. A few of them sent curious glances towards Ren, but he ignored them all, half dragging LW over to the nearest rack. Hanging from it were dozens of dresses, all different colors and styles, and Ren began sifting through them, gesturing for LW to do the same.

"Come on, little wolf," he said. "Pick a few out and then we'll go have you try some on."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 13, 2011 3:36 pm

She just gave him a look in response. "And you think I know what I'm doing?" The she-wolf snorted in a not very ladylike manner, arms crossed while her gaze continued to dart around. She was also looking at what other ghouls around them were wearing. "That's because they are prissy, uptight, asstards." The she-wolf muttered under her breath absently in a rare show of heated annoyance. She didn't like seeing how her best friend was treated by his parents.

LW huffed and tried to glare at him, but he wasn't looking. "I told you from the start I am way out of my element here." She muttered and followed his gaze to the new shop in question. It really didn't seem that different from the first one, in her opinion.

Candlejack. Since when did she really care about how she dressed to begin with? Usually she wasn't this concerned about it. Strange. That's what these new feelings were. It was strange to actually care about appearing...cute for someone you liked.

On light feet she followed Ren, easily stepping around the throng of people while he lead them forward. The store they were approaching had her tail twitching. It was...definitely not some place you would find the she-wolf walking into willingly on her own. The shop sort of intimidated her but she didn't try to pull away from Ren. And there were a lot of other ghouls in here. They all apparently were pros when it came to this sort of shopping. LW couldn't help the faint pink on her cheeks at the fact she had to drag her best friend out with her while these ghouls...would probably beat her up and take her lunch money if she so much as looked at a dress they wanted.

Following his lead, she started to sift and paw through some of the choices. "And what exactly am I looking for?" Dresses came in two types in her mind: long and short. But apparently, this was wrong. There was long, long with a train, long and slim. Short dresses were even worse. They could go below your knee, to your thigh, barely cover your butt. And that was only the length of the dress! The whole upper portion of them just had the she-wolf blinking.

"Reeeeeen..." she whined, tail swishing behind her. "Can I just go naked?" It would be so much simpler! A few of the ghouls nearby gave her looks. LW just quirked an eyebrow at them and pawed at a couple dresses that kept catching her eye. They were maybes.

Ren cast a midly surprised look back at LW, then smiled, twisting to peck a quick kiss to the side of her head. "You're a doll. Yes, they are prissy, uptight asstards, thank you for noticing, darling."

Sifting through the clothing on the rack, Ren's golden eyes moved from one to the other, shaking his head. If he hadn't already seen Medieval shopping, he would have been astounded at the sheer amount of clothing there was. Different types, shapes, sizes, colors, designs...there was so much variety that it nearly gave Ren a headache just looking at them all. How could ghouls wear all of this?

"No," he answered LW almost automatically, pulling off a light blue dress and folding it over one arm. "You may not go naked. This is a dance party, wolflove. You gotta be dressed for it."

Ren turned his head to look at her, a mischievous expression on his. "Don't worry, Miss Wolf," he said, giving her a playful wink. "I'll make sure you look sexy for Sir Snake."

One dress, two, three... After a few moments, Ren's arms were starting to ache slightly from the dresses hanging over his arm, and he moved back to LW. "All right, little one," he said, putting his free arm behind her back and propelling her towards the dressing rooms. "Take these, and try these on. I have no idea how they'll look, and I was only guessing your size, but we'll see."
