OOC Notes:
Welcome to Singles Awareness Day. biggrin This is the second one Jada has thrown, and there is a distinct difference in them, as I am sure you will note. This will run from February 6th/7th, 2011 until around 10pm on February 21, 2011 OOC. Should it die before the 21st, I will write a closing post a little sooner. smile ICly it takes place on February 14, from 6:00 to midnight Anyone whose character is over the age of 16 can feel free to post that character. (Under 16, do you really think parents would let their kid go to a party until midnight? Not really.)

On the back of this poster is the following note.

Destiny City Singles,
- You are invited to a Singles Awareness Day party hosted at the Mudville Grille and Theater. There will be good (if mildly fattening) food, movies playing in the theaters, and good company!
- Casual dress is suggested.
- Best of all, food and movies are free! So bring your friends and be prepared for fun and games. (The DJ will be hosting trivia in the bar downstairs at 9:00pm and various other games through the evening. There will be cash prizes and gift cards for winners!)
- [Adult Patrons, the bar in the restaurant will still be open; you will be carded.]

FLOORPLAN, ROUGHLY.

Any posts made by a GM, or by Infi getting the okay to do a little extra something that could be fun, will be a "Shout" or something like that. smile

The Mudville Grille and Theater was an unassuming building when seen in the daylight. It was the size of a small warehouse, having once been one, and was maybe 8000 square feet. Outside of the theater, all one could see were the wooden benches, the angel-ashtray statues, and a few unhappy looking plants. It had once been red brick on the outside, and between time and the thin coat of whitewash that was being used to disguise the color, it had turned out to be a rather crackly pink color. Jada hated it, but she had chosen that location for a reason. What that reason was, she couldn't remember, looking at it. It looked weathered and worn, more like a bar than a place where a Chamberlyn would host a party. It was too bad she hadn't been able to get the Fondue Haus again- last time it had seemed to go over so well, if a bit formal! Well, that was what happened when you forgot things like this. But with everything else that had been happening, Jada Chamberlyn was willing to forgive herself and adjust.

Inside the theater, Jada remembered why she had chosen it. The Mudville was very like a Sports Bar, with televisions and tables surrounding a central bar. Past the bar were 'screening rooms' where sports-loving parents could send their kids to play while they enjoyed the company of other boisterous, sports-loving adults. Enough room for about 30-40 people per movie room, if they squeezed, with doors that could shut so that the games being played in the restaurant wouldn't disturb. There was a game room with a pool table, and a ping pong table, and a few arcade games. The Grille had a polished dance floor, a gorgeous 1950's-style jukebox, and a karaoke machine. They could set up the DJ in the corner, the 'host' of the evening for her, and he could set up the games and dancing. The lights were dim enough to allow the televisions to dominate, and for purposes of the SAD party, they would be set up on only a few select channels. The dance floor was surrounded by bright lights, and a single spotlight for the unfortunates on the karaoke set.

Outside of each Movie room was a small sign with the names of the two movies that would be playing in it. In movie room 1, Kill Bill #1 and #2 would be playing. In movie room 2, The Hangover would be first, and Zombieland would be playing last. A little something for everyone, maybe? Jada didn't watch much television, so she'd had someone else pick for her.

The employees of the Grille and Jada had reached the conclusion that anyone over the age of 16 would be allowed into the party, but there would be no smoking in the bar and anyone purchasing alcohol would be carefully identified. They had to cover their butts even more than she did, really. They were the ones who would get sued if an undercover cop was watching a bunch of teenagers drink. They would provide a buffet of appetizers like potato skins and wings, with burgers and chicken on order. There was a punch bowl on the buffet, and everything looked to be ready to go.

Jada cleared her throat, glancing at the clock. It was 5:55, and they were going to unlock the doors for the 'early birds' at 6:00, even though the party didn't start until 6:30. People had been early last year, and she wanted to be ready for them. She'd been planning for this all day, even to the point of going shopping specifically for a new outfit. Shopping still made Jada feel better, even though it was getting harder and harder to stay in the wealthy heiress role she'd cultivated for eighteen years. Her long legs were wrapped in low-rise black leather pants and she wore a top that she found super-cute: It was like a tank top, with a neckline low enough to flaunt a little, and high enough to be considered modest. Until you saw the back-- or lack thereof. Luckily, her Blood Moon tattoo was lower still, in a place not even her low-rise pants would show off. On her feet was a pair of plain black leather boots, that went over the bottom of the pants and ended around her knee. With so much black, one could almost say she was not in the spirit of Valentines-- maybe she was mourning being single? Her hair was pulled up, into a single braid running down her back, gold earrings and simple gold necklace and bracelets glinting in the lights.

"Go ahead and open the door." she said finally.

It was 6:00.

Kirin was unfashionably on time. He hadn't meant to be - if anything, rocking up late and slipping in mostly unnoticed was more to his liking. But there'd been nothing else to do all day. If he saw any more hearts and roses and lovey-dovey crap he was going to throw up. So he through any attempt at being cool out the window, and managed to rock up to the Mudville Grille and Theater right as the doors were opened.

Well, at least he wasn't early and waiting around for things to open. That was one good thing, right?

Steeling himself, he made his way in and looked around. He had taken the 'casual' part of invitation to heart. He hair was just in it's normal pigtails (though as shiny and pretty as ever, even if the style was nothing special). His usual jeans were forgone for a plain white skirt ( thick material, nothing inappropriate was going to be showing) in a floaty style that fell to just past his knees. Over the top was an off the shoulder ruffled top in peacock blue.

So sue him, he wanted to look a little nice, even if the point of the party was that none of them had anyone special to dress up for.

"Nice place," he said aloud, though he wasn't even sure if anyone was here. It was just a shame he barely passed for his real age of 19, let alone 21, so going and getting slammed at the bar was out.

As Senri stepped into the club, his attention was diverted to the bar area, a gloved hand shading his eyes from the light to concentrate his focus. No drinking, huh? But then again, what male didn't indulge in underage drinking? Although, if you asked Senri, underage drinking didn't live up to its expectations. It was no major loss for the older male.

He work a black turtleneck, with a open gray long sleeve jacket. He had normal black jeans, with several accessories lining his figure -- a chain hanging from his waist, a few silver necklaces, and and a ring adorning one of his hands. His navy hair seemed more casual then usual, as stray bangs peeked from beneath the loose ponytail.

From right behind Kirin, Senri spoke, "Hey there, Jada." Senri waved to the host of the party, and acknowledged the other visitor with an agreement. "Looks comfortable." Senri had never been to this particular bar, but he couldn't say that he felt uncomfortable. On the contrary, it was more relaxed than he would have expected given Jada's grandeur nature.

"Beautiful as always." Senri noted her outfit. He was here, definitely single, but not for lack of girls. Not that he had the air of a girlfriend-less male, who by unfortunate circumstances, was left without anybody at this season. He simply had no desire for a significant other. Senri didn't prefer to spend Valentine's day with anybody in particular, as it ended up more in a commitment than Senri would have preferred. Still, a party would be enjoyable.

Pointing to the white stick in his mouth, probably a lollipop, "The sign outside broke my heart." Senri remarked casually to both visitors, referring to the No Smoking sign, although judging from his easy smile - his heart anything but.

"Enjoying your Valentine's day so far?" He directed to both occupants, a hint og amusement in his smile.

It had taken Ashley forever to get herself looking the way she wanted, much to her own disdain, but she still arrived pretty early.

She hadn't bothered to do her hair like she had done for Lily's party, and instead she was simply wearing a lace-up top with black pants and her boots underneath. Nice, but not ending up like she belonged on some street corner.

Ashley was once more single for Valentines, but it wasn't from lack of choices - she knew there was at least one boy in her english class that would have probably been all over her if she'd just let him - but to be honest, it took one hell of a man to get her attention. Most just didn't.

The ladies were a different story, but she had yet to work out that nerve.

The note about drinking made her frown. Should she try her luck ? Yes, she had her fake id, but it was hit or miss. And she wasn't even wearing makeup. Probably better not to attempt.

She stopped to hand her coat at the entrance, and that was when she saw him.

Senri.

It hadn't been a messy breakup - definitively nowhere near her messiest breakup, as they'd both kind of drifted apart - but they spoken very often since, which left Ashley wondering if this was a good idea.

Not that she considered herself psycho ex-girlfriend material.

For his company... well, the two ladies were pretty nice-looking. Shaking her head, she made her way inside.

"Already gathering a harem, Senri ?" She said with a light chuckle. "It's nice to see you again. And you two as well." She smiled. "My name's Ashley."

A glimmer of recognition entered Senri's eyes. "Ashley," He addressed calmly, as if they were having tea in different circumstances. Ashley hadn't changed from from when they had last met.

They had never acknowledged their separation, and neither had any desire to reunite. They never had anything between them, save for friendship and comfortable ease. Although Senri would have never likened their relationship, at its highest point, to that of boyfriend-girlfriend rather than convenient partners. "Right. It's been a while." He treated her to a casual hug, chuckling as he heard her comment.

"Is that how it appears?" He didn't refuse nor encourage the claim. He stepped back from Ashley to properly glance at the other forementioned firl. He hadn't given her a proper greeting yet, though he leaned down to the orange-hair girl, giving her a smile. "Shall we introduce ourselves? I'm Senri."

Kirin's playboy alert was blaring. She watched the dark-haired guy as he brushed past her to Jada, then to the girl (Ashley, their host had said) who entered behind them, and now over to Kirin. Kirin thought that the harem remark wasn't too far off - that, or a bee going from flower to flower. Though that comparison brought to mind horrible 'pollenating' innuendoes so he made a face and tried to bleach it from his mind.

"Kirin," he introduced himself, not before a pause and a sceptical eyebrow raised at Senri. He lifted a hand to Ashley to include her in the introduction.

"V-day so far? Suck, suck and more suck," he answered Senri's earlier query. His mouth pursed like he'd tasted something sour. "Honest to god, this party is the best thing I've heard of for the past month. The rest of the city seems under the impression that if they don't have a date with their 'twoo wuv' today, they'll die alone with only fifty cats for company. Or to eat their corpse," Kirin added after careful consideration. "Which I think is frankly a better punishment for those who are being sickeningly sweet today."

Oh yeah, Kirin was clearly a great believer in this holiday.

Clarissa stepped through the door, with a radiant smile on her face. "Hmm." She was pleased to see that she was early to the party, where she could take the time to acquaint herself with everybody.

"Good evening, everyone." She declared, shrugging off her coat to reveal a large v-necked sweater draped over a pair of tights and high boots.

She might have looked like any other college student, if not for the elegant, refined manner of her's that indicated differently. It was easier to imagine her in the ballroom, than a noisy club like this. Nevertheless, she seemed to appear as ease in the club, as she chatted with several of the patrons.

She turned to see the host standing several feet away. "Good evening, Ms. Chamberlyn," Gently, djr took the Jada's hands in a warm embrace of her own, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you! I've heard so much about you from my father." She exclaimed with a laugh. As they were both from prominent families, it wasn't a surprise the they knew of each other. Her father had conducted business with the Chamberlyns on a few occasions-- where she heard they had a daughter of similar age to her though they hadn't a chance to meet until today.

With a quick glance at the crowd, "It would appear as if you are quite the celebrity." Clarissa teasingly remarked, with a smile.

The first person to step in the door was a cute redhead who looked around seventeen, maybe? The top was adorable, and such a good color in contrast to that hair. That hair, what was it that was so nice about it? It was such a pretty color, and looked so rich and thick. It was just in pigtails, and Jada frankly ached to play with it. "I'm glad you came! I'm Jada."

It was so very exciting to see people coming-- the young woman loved it when people actually came to her parties. Not that she'd ever had a personless party, to be sure; but... ah, well! She opened her mouth to say something else to the first young woman, when the next person came in the door. Seeing Senri was certainly a surprise! "No smoking." was the first thing she said, and leaned in to give Senri a polite little air kiss. It wasn't surprising that he was looking handsome; after all, Senri was a model-- that's what he did. "And this is Singles Awareness, Senri." she raised her eyebrow at him. "I'm fabulous, thank you."

She was ready to welcome the next person who stepped in, and that is what she did, turning to the woman who called herself 'Ashley' with a warm smile. She loved having company! New people-- so fun! "I'm Jada." was her greeting. "If I'm part of Senri's harem, that's news to me!" she gave him an exaggerated surprised face, purple eyes drifting over Ashley's top. So. Cute. She always found some of the cutest clothes at parties like this one!

The next person to appear was someone who she knew by sight, if not personally. "Miss Arks." she gave the older woman another of her smiles, embracing her back. "I think I've heard more than a little about you myself." Considering, of course, that she knew the girl by sight. "I would like you to call me Jada, and you will be Clarissa. This isn't a night for formality."

As if to underscore her words, the first song to come on the DJ's booth was 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce.

Jada's face darkened visibly.

Chase had seen the invitation a few days prior to the event and had decided that the party was worth at least checking out. He arrived early but not so early that he was the first person to arrive. He was dressed in a white button-up with a black hooded gray vest, black skinny jeans and classic high top converse. To some he was probably considered over dressed or formally dressed but to him, this was as casual as casual gets. His black and pink feathered hair was spiked upwards in a fohawk, it's normal fashion.

He strolled forward confidently towards the forming group pleased to see that quite a few girls had shown up, all attractive, and so far there was only one other boy. Meant the odds were in his favor, so far. As he joined the group he recognized Jada, if only by face. She was the host of the party and he had seen her at a few of the business socials he had attended at his father's assistance.

"Hey." He grinned at the surrounding company before introducing himself. "I'm Chase," he didn't seem to care if he was invited in the conversation or not, he just stepped in. Surely they wouldn't mind too much.

"Ah, really?" Senri was certainly amused by Kirin's view on Valentines. "Cats, huh? What an impressive death." Senri's blue eyes veered away for a bit, contemplating the thought. Senri couldn't say that he was fond of dying by cats. At least, he didn't own any cats.

"I've always entertained the simpler fact that Valentine's day is a chocolate conspiracy." He was momentarily distracted by the arrival of Clarissa, apparently having previous acquaintance with her as well. It was a surprise to see her, Senri not having expected that she would be here in Destiny City. Coincidences, he supposed. Perhaps he would wait until later to greet her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Chase." Senri offered his hand to the only other male occupant."I'm Senri."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 13, 2011 2:17 pm

"Well." Ashley said, amused. "It seems our DJ has a sense of humor."

She wasn't insulted in the least - she just found it hilarious.

"It is a little ridiculous." Ashley admitted at Kirin's statement, shaking her head. People were pretty damn stupid about Valentine's sometime. Though any excuse for chocolate was always a good one.

She waved to both the new arrivals, a smile on her face.

'Casual dress' was a relative term to Fallon. She dressed for everyday like she had an important meeting to go to, a dance to attend, a potential girlfriend to impress. That night, she showed up in a sleek black cocktail dress despite the less-than-sleek setting. The Mudville Grill was not an establishment that Fallon had ever visited before. It was not her kind of place. If anything, it was the kind of place that Fallon might cross on a busy Saturday night in her taxi and roll her eyes at as one drunk patron after another stumbled into the street.

But Jada had never exactly done the things that Fallon expected.

With a false smile, Fallon crossed into the foyer of the Grill, slipping out of her coat. There was a closet to her left, but no one there to take it. With a sigh, she hung it up herself, and then crossed into the main room. The girl spotted several familiar faces, but she chose to say hello to no one, not yet. There had been so much going on lately. It had been difficult for her to survive even an hour at Lily's party. If she didn't think it would upset Jada, Fallon would not have made it to the SAD Party at all.

What was so sad about being alone? Fallon had never really had a girlfriend, just a fling here and there. She was used to being alone, liked it even. When she was alone, she only had to worry about her own feelings. That seemed much better than fixating on the whims of someone else.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 13, 2011 4:56 pm

Jada smiled as another young man approached, vaguely familiar though she couldn't place a name to it. Maybe it was the hair. It was distinctive, in its way, and she knew she should probably recognize the other person... but thankfully, the boy introduced himself. "Hello Chase." she almost offered him her hand, to shake, but he'd offered it to Senri, and it made her pause.

"I suppose a sense of humor it alright," Jada said wryly, turning her attention to Ashley, "but there are really more appropriate songs he could have started out with, I think." Especially considering that there were only four 'single ladies' and two men.

Ah! Jada's face lit up at the next person to come in the door-- almost literally. So Fallon had come! And then her face fell, and she just knew that Fallon was disappointed in the location, wasn't she? But she'd come! For anyone observing the heiress' face, it probably looked like a light switch turning on and turning off as she thought. "Chocolate," she said finally, turning her attention back to the conversation at hand, "Is a necessity of life, and the creator of the idea was brilliant." she couldn't help but give a rueful laugh. "Excuse me, please, I saw a good friend."

The dark-haired girl didn't run for Fallon, but she was moving quickly, and then she was hugging her (uninvited) and pressing her lips to the darker-skinned cheek. "I am go glad you could make it." she pulled away, and was pleased to note that her lipstick had not stayed behind. She'd tried to make sure it wouldn't. "You look fabulous, sweetie." Most people wouldn't call Fallon sweetie. Most people didn't know Fallon as being a terribly skilled combatant. Most people also didn't know Fallon could walk through mirrors.

Jada wasn't most people.

"We already have a very interesting group assembling." she assured her friend, sliding her arm through Fallons (again uninvited.) "But I know things have been busy. Do you want to claim a table, and we can get you a drink? Pretty much anything except alcohol is open game. Then you can hold court, and let people come to you." Jada's eyes crinkled at the corners, that's how excited she was about this entire party. And Fallon had come!!!

The latest arrival caused Kirin to do a double-take. Oh yeah, he remembered Fallon. He hadn't seen her since Barren Pines, but he had fond memories of her awesome (if OCD) breakfasts made in the dorms. He wasn't sure if he should talk to her or not. From what he'd heard of non-senshi survivors, they didn't remember the zombies or the Negaverse or anything apart from school as normal. They, and the rest of the city, thought there'd been a black market organ ring - and Kirin didn't want to have to talk about the cover story as though it was real.

... He kind of missed being able to talk to anyone about the real BP. Just a little. No one else really got his post-BP reaction to zombie movies.

Decision made to test out Fallon later, Kirin turned his attention back to the rest of the small group. He gave a considering nod to Senri. "True, I imagine the fuss might have died out by now if it weren't for the chocolate companies throwing so much money behind it. Still, I'd settle for Easter chocolate if it just meant no more naked chubby cherubs and contests over who can be the most 'romantic' on one day of the year."

No one would be surprised to know Kirin had never had a date for Valentine's Day. He and other people had an understanding - small doses could be tolerable, but it was best to avoid each other than to suffer extended periods of time together.

"Let's hope the humour lasts all night," Kirin gave Ashley a conspiratorial smile. The last thing they needed was for the evening to get maudlin. The party was meant to be proof that you didn't need a date to have fun, right?

"Anyone actually of age here?" he asked, eyeing off the bar. For someone who usually kept his fridge well-stocked with beer, the idea of going without all evening when there was a bar right there was slightly annoying.

(( Edited for DERP memory fail ^^;; Thanks for clearing that up, Akina. ))
