They descended on Destiny City Memorial Hospital in droves, pouring in like the victims of some great war of old, bloodied and burned and bruised. The peaceful night had been the calm before the storm, because as dawn broke, the previous evening's casualties began to pour in.

They were triaged as they came, wounds treated as best they could be, then shuffled off to overpacked rooms for observation. It was about eight AM by the time Tallulah managed to reunite with her friends, and they all looked far worse for the wear than she did - bloody bandages just didn't compare to some painkillers and a saline drip.

She pulled her IV stand into the room behind her and collapsed into a folding chair by the door. "Ugh," she groaned. "Did anyone get the number of the bus that hit me?"

"I caught a look right before you went sailing, but she didn't stick around." Regulus confessed, quietly. He definitely could have looked better. The cut on his face, ironically by one of his own attacks, had left his ear and cheek bloody, and the bruise from Zinkenite's slingshot made a nice framework for the now cleaned cut, which had fortunately not needed stitches. He was still feeling... tender... and was trying not to think about -that- bruise... though that left the focus on his other injuries.
It was the first time he'd actually required surgery, of any form, after a battle. Even after Moonstone, when he'd had bones to set, he hadn't needed -that-, but they'd had to remove a goddamn arrow from him, which had come far closer to leaving him dead than he really cared to think about it.

'Millimeters' had been the word bandied about. He did not like that word right now.

It was also an uncomfortable place to be for another reason, since anyone worth their salt had to guess that there would be Nega's here as well as Senshi, and he couldn't help wonder if someone would put two and two together on injuries, glamor or not. He'd been half tempted to try and sneak out, or get one of the cats to, and look for people with injuries that resembled the wounds from "Claws", but he'd decided that it would be too risky.

Also he was a little guiltily not sure he wanted to know. There had been dead people out on that field. He wasn't entirely sure more hadn't died when they got back.

"How's your head?" He asked, adding. "...And for the record, you sounded totally drunk when you were concussed." He flashed her an grin that was as sincere as possible under the circumstances.

He felt like the goddamn Mummy.

It hurt so ******** much. And that was just her shoulder. Torn rotator cuff..wasn't that something football players normally get? Bell's shoulder would require surgery later, but the ER was so busy that they hadn't done it immediately. After all it 'wasn't that serious.' Not that serious her bruised a**! It hurt like a b***h despite the painkillers.

There was also the two arrow heads that had to be dug out of her - one in her hip and the other from the muscle of her lower left leg. There was an injury to her head too, but nothing that required stitching. All that and some scrapes and bruises. She tried to not think about the pain in her shoulder - the pain that encompassed the shoulder, scapula, and up her neck...

Yes, she distracted herself with her concern for her boyfriend, although he had been tended to and stitched up like the rest of them. This was Bell we were talking about. The girl who was protective, territorial, and all together take-no-bullshit when it came to his well-being. This worry of course rendered her not too accepting of humor, as noted by the sour expression on her face as she sat on the edge of the hospital bed. Easy for her two team mates to be so light-hearted.

She wanted to tear in to Tallulah for her drunken actions during the battle, but she didn't. Acting on her anger wouldn't do any good for anyone. It wasn't easy for Bell to hold her emotions together.

"I'm still concussed," corrected Tallulah, tapping her forehead gingerly. She tried to smile back at Jaimie, but mostly she just felt guilty that everyone else had gotten hurt while she flounced around like a drunk duck. She barely even remembered the last few hours - mostly it came back to her in bloody, confused snippets and she couldn't tell if it was more horrifying in memory or in person.

"I'm sorry, guys," she sighed, fiddling with her IV line as she glanced over at Xavier's prone form. "I ******** up." She couldn't even remember her attack! Europa deep ocean presure. Europa deep ocean blackout. How hard could it possibly be to cast a simple senshi attack? She'd done it a million times. It was second nature. Like swimming.

"Did they..." she trailed off, looking down lamely. "Did they say if Zay might wake up soon?"

There was a massive bruise on his cheek, though that particular bruise was nothing like the massive one on his chest, where he'd been all but stomped on. Thankfully, none of those gathered in the room had gotten to see this perticular war wound. The stab and the cut on both arms had required to be sewn shut.

At least he had no internal bleeding, though, even as he slept, the blonde boy whined softly, the natural act of breathing enough to send jolt of pain though him, but for now, his total exhaustion still won out over the small constant shocks going through his nerves.

He'd almost died, was saved and grown in power, which he then used to stay alive and save those he could save. When he had passed out, there had been simply nothing left for him to invoke - not even adrenaline and fear had been able to keep him going out like a light that had just been turned off.

In fact, the little switch in his brain was only starting to turn itself back on. "Don't wanna..." came the answer, his voice a little raspy.

Not quite awake yet seemed to be the answer.

"I don't know." Regulus admitted, trying to lighten the mood weakly by adding. "...Well you sound a lot less drunk now..." He sight slightly and studied the floor. "...You didn't ******** up, you got tossed like a frat boys empty. What were you SUPPOSED to do? I'm the one who got cocky and decided to charge into the middle of things."

"We're definitely going to be off the lines for a while though." He sighed, heavily, looking over at the others. Man what a nightmare.

Tallulah pulled her knees up to her chest and adjusted her IV line delicately. "Jai," she sighed. "You don't have to sugar-coat it. I'm not going to be mad if you admit I was terrible back there. Because I was."

She glanced over at Xavier, who seemed to be stirring lightly, and seemed to be regaining some basic consciousness. "Um. Maybe you should handle this, Bell," she murmured, basically talking to her knees. Tallulah didn't feel up to facing the teammate she'd arguably failed the most.

Something buzzed in the pocket of her sweatshirt. She pulled out her phone and checked the text. "Oh," added Tallulah quietly, "I called my dad earlier. He says he's on his way."

Bell glanced over at Tal. She didn't feel like moving. She felt like having her entire damn shoulder blade removed. She regretted lying to the doctors about the painkillers being enough. Then again this was the girl who needed five ibuprofen when it came to that time of the month. Painkillers just didn't like her.

What could she do anyway? Her usefulness was over. She had fought, and bled, and..and now there wasn't anything she could do. She was battling anger and resentment, fighting the desire to place blame where she'd later regret it. She was afraid to go over and ever touchXavier cause she wasn't sure just how hurt he still was...

Frustrated and grumpy summed things up quite well. Guh, Bell hoped Cora had gotten Ainsley ready for school....

"...Well the Negaverse didn't off us, but your dad will." Jaimie noted grimly. "Look, once we're all done kicking ourselves we can kick our feet up, recover for a while, then we can start trying to figure out where we can improve." He added, with an snort that made him wince. "...Anyway given the crowds... we aren't the only ones who got the tar whomped out of us."

He folded his arms and looked stubborn, apparently determined that he was, by no means, going to surrender to the "We sucked" mentality. He'd been doing pretty well until he'd tangled with Chronos' shield and been thrown off.

"...Anyway, I've got some ideas. But I'll tell you those when Xai's feeling a bit better. Ok?"

Xavier didn't need much help as it was - just a few more minutes to be able to tell his head from his foot, and up from down, though there was one thing that became evident very quickly.

Hot damn, it hurts to be alive.

But hey, at least he was alive. That was more than could be said for some of the others that were on that battlefield.

At least, he finally opened his eyes, though they squinted when the light from the window hit them. Also, he seemed to be wanting to magically teleport to Bell's side, but wasn't making much headway in discovering the required technology.

Drat. He wasn't even sure if he could make his way over without faceplanting on the floor.

Tallulah brightened a bit at Jaimie's suggestion of training and improvement. It was words like those that made her want to get up and praise his initiative, but any sudden movements might rip the needle out of her arm. "I want to know how they found us," she said emphatically. "The Princess wouldn't have taken us there if she knew it was a trap." At least, she desperately wanted to believe as much with every fiber of her being.

"My Dad's not going to kill us," she added, frowning. What on earth had Angus said to Jaimie to make him so afraid of him? She was going to have a talk with him later when she felt a bit more lucid. "But."

There was no good way to say this. "He knows. About me, anyway. And he'll figure it out about you three soon enough. He's not stupid."

"Maybe if we hadn't gone there, they wouldn't have either. Think of it from their perspective - We're the aliens infesting Earth. According to Kurma, we weren't even originally from this planet." Then again, no one really knew if the Negaverse was either, but Bell had gathered from things she heard spouted during the battle... The Negaverse thought they were fighting to protect the earth from aliens. No whether or not that was their core's true intention was, it seemed like some of them at least truly believed in the cause they had been probably spoon fed...

"What if we're not the good guys we think we are?"

...They were so not having this kind of discussion with him probably hoped on painkillers and having been skewered like a porcupine.

So not.

Nope.

...

Still denying...

...

Damnit, it never worked.

It took effort, and it took a few minutes, but Xavier worked himself from his bed, and managed to do the few steps that separated his bed from hers before all but unelegantly flopping beside his girlfriend like a dead fish.

This was where he wanted to be, so if the nurse wanted to freak out at him, she could kiss his a**.

"That's a valid question." He stopped to cough. "But what kind of protector murder their own people ? And maybe... None of us were meant to be down there in the first place."

Maybe.

Thinking wasn't exactly easy.

The blonde frowned. "If your dad tells my dad, my life is over." Well, not really. But you know.

"My dad's smarter and nicer than both of you give him credit for," said Tallulah defensively, looking pointedly at Jaimie and Xavier. She was glad to see the latter was finally awake, though. She turned her attention to Bell. The attention had hit her at a sore spot, a little piece of self-doubt that she was trying to cover up with blind faith.

"Bell, we don't rip people's souls out of their chests," she said. That made sense, right? Merciless killer equaled evil, right? Said the girl who named her team after Inglourious Basterds. This occurred to her. It gave her a headache. Tallulah hunched over in her chair, cradling her head in her hands. Even with the senshi healing factor, this was going to take a while.

Meanwhile, while Tallulah was studying her palms, there was a knock on the door. "Everyone decent?" asked Angus awkwardly. When there was no reply, he pushed the door open.

Tallulah looked up, casting a weary glance at her father. He looked... fairly shocked by the array of teenagers laid out before him. "Lu, when were you planning to tell me your little study group was actually the Justice League?"

"Hi, Daddy," said Tallulah lamely.

A hand immediately began combing through Xavier's hair.

Bell was about to spat something back at Tallulah when the knock came at the door. Bell had killed mercilessly. Taken the life of someone who died believing they were fighting for the good of the earth. JUST like the Senshi did.
