This is a private roleplay between Sarangerel [Ooka] and Yue Lao [Face Your Demons].

Setting:
Market square.

Hime-san, or Yue’s Mister Princess is at it again, terrorizing merchants in the market square. Yue cannot get the unruly golden lion tamarin to behave, but as soon as Sarangerel shows up… Hime-san is a saint?! Please, Sara, train Yue's monkey!
PostPosted: Sun Feb 06, 2011 9:32 am

Never mind that Hime-san was the most loved monkey in the entire region, never mind that it was hot out and Yue was already uncomfortable under the sun, never mind that she had attached him to some kind of leash, he was causing a scene already. There was a fish vendor who had a silvery catch displayed under an awning, and Hime-san had seen it immediately. Why he loved fish, she would never know. He had promptly torn off his leash, or rather yanked it out of Yue’s hand, and ran literally screaming with joy towards the fish vendor.

Two things had happened, then. The fish vendor had screamed (not with joy) and the woman selling scarves next to him had broken out a broom and was charging towards Hime-san with the fury of a warrior queen. “Emperor preserve me, this monkey will be the death of me,” Yue mumbled under her breath, employing a scarcely used wish to the Emperor. She hardly ever invoked such phrases, but she was too hot and uncomfortable and resigned to the situation to do anything but watch Hime-san race to his doom, stumble back at the sight of the broom, and try to figure out if he should engage it in combat or retreat.

In the meantime, completely hopeless, Yue stood shielding her eyes from the sun with one hand and formulating excuses for her stupid monkey. How could something so beloved be such a nuisance. It wasn’t as if Hime-san was mean to Yue Lao, at least; on the contrary! If nothing was interesting him at the time, he was the perfect image of a fluffy golden angel. One that really liked fruits and fish. But the second someone he disliked showed up, or he caught wind of a delicious snack, that monkey was off like a shot, causing trouble. Yue Lao sighed. It was just one of those days.

Sara has always had a certain talent when it came to dealing with animals. Back home on the farm she had raised both sheep, cows and chickens - and now she had moved into the home of Hua she had learned how to deal with canines. Not to mention the new batch of kittens she had just helped birth. I guess she just had that nature, she was not good with people but the less human the species the more they seemed to enjoy her company.

Today she found herself strolling around on one of her general wonders, on her never ending quest to explore Lunaria she came across the market. She had never seen one so big before, back in her small village they did sell goods but not on display, you knew where to go to get what you needed and a whole area dedicated to traders was just alien. There were more people wondering around here than they were in her entire village! Everyone knew each other and the community seemed so tight, it’s something she missed... everyone here was a stranger and it was impossible to know everyone. It just did not have that homely feel.

Then again if you grew up not knowing anything else she guessed you would not notice it.

Her boots made a clang on the pebbled ground in which she walked, totally unaware of the furry trouble which was heading her way. She heard some ruckus and soon her passé slowed until she was still. Her hands together and her eyes wide in curiosity... she waited... what would cause such a fuss? It sounded like a herd of elephants!

The Mongolian girl turned the corner, her wondering mind getting the better of her only to see... wait, was that a monkey?

Yue Lao couldn't have foreseen what would happen next. Instead of charging the broom or retreating back to Yue, Hime-san turned sharply to one side and barelled around some buildings. Yue, feeling uncomfortable, didn't run after Hime-san like she normally would. She sort of stared at the buildings, watched the merchants calm down, and shrugged, sauntering along after Hime-san when she was good and ready.

Hime-san, in the meantime, was a hurtling golden ball of fluff, pouncing straight into a dark-haired female Lunarian. He chittered and buried himself in her hair, wearing the locks like a series of scarves. He was shaking and squeaking, his little fingers grooming her hair.

Yue swaggered around the corner, her lips pursed, mouth dry, anklets clinking together. She felt like her whole body was coated in dust, even her eyes, and there was her monkey, completely immersed in someone's hair. Yue was completely startled.

"Hime-san, get your little monkey a** over here!" she huffed, cupping a hand over her eyes against the sun again. Despite her irritation over Hime-san, she was still unwilling to move too fast. "I'm sorry about my monkey, sweetheart. Mister princess isn't really that good with--"

And then Yue realized: Hime-san wasn't tangling her hair, pulling on it, or doing anything else horrible. He was grooming her. Yue walked over, in awe, and embraced the stranger, nearly in tears with gratitude. Hime-san was behaving?!

"How do you do that?" Yue gasped, letting go and leaning back to observe the girl. She was quite pretty, really, and taller than she was.

Sara blinked as she was jumped on, she at first meeped not expecting it however soon she calmed down. Her pale green eyes looked over to see the monkey on her shoulder, one look into those big old eyes and she was hooked. She smiled and lifted her hand to tickle behind its ears. She did not question were it was from or if indeed it did had an owner, all she cared about was how cute he was. He was so fluffy, she felt herself melt in his company. “Hello there little one, you are just adorable!” She giggled as it began to play with her hair.

Then she blinked as she heard a noise. Suddenly as stiff as a board she heard the magenta eyed Lunarian shout over to the monkey. She said nothing, feeling like she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She seemed to be apologising on the behalf of her pet? Why? The monkey did not do anything wrong besides the surprise hug! However in the end she enjoyed that. She had never seen a REAL monkey before! Much less be stroked by one!

Then something even more unexpected than the events that just occurred happened... Sara was being HUGGED! A large blush appeared on her face, no one had ever been so forward with her and she really did not know how to react to the interaction. Hua had told her to act like the locals do so in this sense she returned the gesture. Giving Yue a soft pat on her back... was she crying? Erm. AKWARD!

Sara looked on as Yue backed up a little, her arm still around the short but also beautiful women. “I... I d-did nothing... your Monkey... Hime-San? Is just so cute! I- love animals. Y-you are really lucky!” She nodded with a nervous chuckle. She was always so shy around strangers, this whole experience seemed dream like. In both her reaction and well.... the monkey! and the hugs and.... oh spirits was she dreaming?

Deep down the green haired Lunarian was hoping the nice lady would let her play with the monkey some more... however she was too withdrawn to ask!

Hime-san was nearly purring, he was so happy. He puffed up his fur and shook in excitement. With both hands he groomed each lock of her hair, his careful little fingers working industriously to untangle whatever had been mussed in his mad dash to hide. From Yue's point of view, Hime-san looked like he was enchanted.

Yue didn't think twice that she was being hugged back, but Hime-san let them know he did not like it by screeching. Yue stumbled and rubbed at her ears, grimacing. Apparently Hime-san would behave so long as she didn't go too close. "You were the love of my life, and now you are a little fluffy ball of destruction!" Yue complained, crossing her arms over her chest. "My apologies, gorgeous; I was talking to Mister Princess; Hime-san, yeah, that's his name." Yue sighed and stretched, trying to blink the sand out of her eyes. She pursed her lips and tilted her head, observing.

"Maybe you're an enchantress," Yue suggested, then grinned widely. "You're not from around here, are you? I've never seen you at the academy before." As if all there was to the world was the war, and training for it. Yue didn't even think that maybe this girl wasn't part of the battle. In all likelihood, she was. Yue rested her hands on her hips and her soft glow returned, pink scales on warm gold skin shining in the sun. "You should let me buy you lunch, so I can coerce you into babysitting that irritating creature a little longer. I'm Yue Lao, the one and only," Yue said with a wink. She licked her lips and tasted dust, sighing. Hime-san seemed like nothing but trouble. Fluffy, shiny trouble.

Sara looked very confused, her eyes turned to the creature on her shoulder, shocked that it suddenly decided to screech at the presence of its master. She sure hoped it would never make that noise in her ear again as she had never heard such a noise. She made a shush sound and stroked under the monkeys chin to calm him down. She certainly did not know why the animal seemed to have grow so attached so quick - or why it was being so protective. She gave a nervous chuckle as the women described how this little angel on her shoulder seemed to cause her so much trouble, it was hard to beleive. "M-maybe that means he loves you, I mean children always try and show that they do not need their parents, at times they act up and get in trouble just to have their attention... however, at the end of the day I am sure its your arms he would run to for comfort. Deep down he is still your angel." She nodded going on another of her rambles, personally she did everything she could to impress her parents and make them happy. However even she messed up from time to time.

She giggled and held her hand to her mouth as she heard the title of the monkey. "Well, Mister Princess; Hime-san. It is a pleasure to meet you - what a grand title you have." She nodded before a small blush crept onto her face - d-did she just call her gorgeous. Was that how people addressed others around here? It seemed odd, she had been called every name under the sun, witch, demon, crazy... but gorgeous was a new one. She could not see the beauty that the women seemed to. However she appreciated the complement and more so she did not want to make a fuss about it in case it was normal. She did not want to be impolite after all. "Any beauty I do possess is nothing in comparison to yours. T-thank you for the complement." She nodded bowing her head lightly then suddenly her body became stiff as she heard the word 'enchantress' she did not want to give away her secret so easily. She was still shy about her abilities, even though it was nothing to be ashamed of here - she still did not want people to see her as a freak; or a monster as those in her village called her.

"No I am not, I am from a small village beyond the forest. A peaceful place of farming - I came to Lunaria not too long ago, and I have not attended the academy that long either. My masters have been teaching me in private whilst I was settling in - however I do attend now. I guess I just do not have that much of a memorable face. A lot of people say that on meeting me." She nodded, it was true. No doubt the real reason was because her class's were different to others. She was not being taught to be a solider nor did she have any wish to be. She bowed once more, lower and more respectful as Yue introduced herself. "What a wonderful name, does it mean anything 'The one and only Yue Lao'." She smiled - it might not be a funny joke however it was to a person who had such a bad sense of humour as Sara. Someone says something witty and it will have to be explained - yet she laughs at stupid things that others would not even bat a eyelid about. "My name is Sarangerel Odtsetseg - However I know many Lunarian's have a problem pronouncing it. So please call me Sara, everyone else does." She nodded, the comment meant in the nicest way possible.

The expression on Sara's face as Mr. Princess screeched in her ear would forever burn in Yue's memory. The epitome of how she felt every time Hime-san did something terrible, unruly or unmanagable. Which was pretty much all he knew how to do. How could she love something so much despite all the pain it caused her? Mr Princess calmed as Sara stroked under his chin, and he picked up her hand in his little monkey fingers, nuzzling into it. Yue tilted her head, earrings jangling as she moved. Was it possible that Hime-san really did love her, and was trying to get her attention? At that moment, as if sensing her scrutiny, Mr. Princess drew his lips back over his fangs and grimaced at her. "I doubt that," Yue replied, sticking her tongue out at the monkey. Maybe it did love her, but it certainly didn't care much for her attention.

Yue's face glowed with delight when Sara blushed at being called gorgeous. This was promising, very promising. How much could she get away with...? Yue didn't intend to harass such a cute Lunarian, though; just play a little. Yue snorted and then burst into laughter when the comment was deflected back on her. "Oh, sugar, I'm not going to argue but I think your compliments would do more good to someone with less of an ego. Thanks, though," Yue replied, winking.

This girl was so forward with information, so open. And, it seemed, honest. What kind of challenge was that for a person like Yue? And yet she found it endearing. Something to protect. No one was that open any more, not with Yue. "Memorable face? I think you're pretty memorable, sugar." Hime-san was now grooming Sara, running his little fingers through her hair and nuzzling his fluffy face against her neck. He seemed sleepy, like a child who has just thrown a tantrum.

Yue Lao grinned. "Yeah! No one can live up to me, and the Emperor knows there's only room enough for the one; the world would become pretty chaotic pretty fast if I had duplicates." Yue winked at Sara again. She took the compliment quite contentedly, without a word. Yue approached her long and seemingly complicated name syllable by syllable, reproducing the sounds she heard. "Sarangerel Odsetseg-- Sara. You won't be called 'Sara' for long, sugar; I tend to nickname. Give it a little, I'm sure you'll have one too." Yue stretched.

"So... about lunch. You in?"

"Now that was not very nice Mister Princess." Sara pouted at the monkey, putting her hand under his chin and closing his mouth so he would not bare his teeth. It was like watching a child tell of a puppy, she could not bring herself to hit him so a good stern voice would do for now. She would not let him act such a way towards Yue - his caring mother. There relationship... did indeed seem like a odd one but who was she to judge. Even if they did not show it she could see the love between them.

Or maybe she was deluded...

"I would not call it a ego. It is a good thing to be confident... or my masters tell me that at least. It is a virtue a respectable one at that. One that I often am told I lack." Sara was the kind of girl who always found the virtues in the people she was around and loved to point them out and complement them. She wanted more than anything for people to like her and tried her best not to say anything that might cause a negative reaction. She leaned over and stroked the monkey as she listened to Yue talk. She found something soothing in her voice.

Sara's face went red as Yue talked. "... N-nickname... hmm..." She thought, she had never had one of them before. It was something that friends did, however she did not know anyone well enough for them to give her one. It did seem like a lovely gift though. One she herself wanted to return. She smiled and nodded when lunch was mentioned - she was hungry and Yue seemed like a person who was easy enough to talk to - maybe getting to know the locals was a good idea. "It would be a honour... Neg-Yue. Is there any place you recommend? She had not been around long enough to know where the best spots to spend a lunch-break so she was more than willing to follow the lead of the pink-eyed Lunarian.

It was easy enough to think of a nickname for Yue. Neg meant one in Sara's tongue and as it stood she could not find a more perfect way to describe her.
PostPosted: Sun May 22, 2011 7:02 pm

Hime-san chittered at Sara, and made big happy eyes at Sara, as if he was incapable of any evil. He wrung his little hands, too. Yue stuck her tongue out at the monkey while she thought no one was looking. It was true that Yue loved Hime-san, but it was a love rooted in arguments, chasing and wild chaotic fights instigated by her monkey's rudeness. Just because Hime-san was nice to Sara didn't mean he was normally nice to all strangers. In fact, usually he caused more trouble for them than he did to Yue.

Yue pursed her lips and thought, resting her hands on her hips and leaning her weight on one foot. "I like you, Sweetpea," Yue said. And just like that, Yue was calling her Sweetpea. She liked Sara's perspective and diplomatic way of talking. Yue was so unlike this softspoken, kind girl that she felt herself wanting to be near her. Perhaps Sara could balance out Yue's chaos. The nickname was sudden, and while usually Yue needed to think about these things for quite some time during the first meeting, she just felt like Sara should be 'Sweetpea'. It just seemed nice. All the kindness was making her head reel, though; she kind of wanted to punch something.

Perhaps that was her way, not faring well in peace and with Lunarians who didn't harass her but treated her with respect. Yue could get used to that. She was beaming more and more, though, this kind Lunarian making her feel good about herself and life in general.

"Mmm, let's go see my oth-" Yue stopped herself, and kept on talking as if it hadn't happened. She had almost said othermother. "Let's go to my boss's place, they serve good food there! And I can get it for free," Yue said, grinning.

"Hey, by the way, what does 'Neg' mean?" Yue tapped her lip and peered at Sara, smiling but clearly curious.

A small blush came onto her face. "I-I like you too Neg." She stammered, looking to the side slightly to hide the tint to her cheeks. It was in no way related to any kind of attraction she had to Yue - even though she was a very beautiful women. It was because no one had ever been so vocal about their affections to her before, not so openly and quickly. It caught her off-guard and it took her a moment to look at those magenta eyes once more. She nodded and decided the best thing to do was move forward maybe if she powered through Yue would not notice her blush. "Oh? That sounds wonderful. What about it Mister Princess, are you hungry?" She asked the monkey, rubbing her nose against the side of his face, his warm fur smelt so nice...

Sara opened her mouth to explain but soon found herself shutting it once more."I am sure the one and only Neg-Yue, will figure it out one day..." If she lived up to the name she was sure that the heavens themselves would not get in the way of her and the secret to her name sake. Sara smiled and walked ahead a little, then looked over her shoulder back at Yue. Long strands of teal hair dancing behind her in a spiral as she did so. "... and if not, its something to ponder." She nodded with a small giggle. Maybe one day she would tell her, but she saw no harm in having a little fun with her before that. Maybe the monkey on her shoulder brought out the silliness in her.

"Who is a good monkey? Yes, you are." Her voice went high, like a mother talking to a baby. Tanned fingers reaching and tickling him softly on the belly, he was so fluffy and fat. Mister Princess could so easily be mistaken from a doll, though he was cuter than any one Sara had ever seen. She turned around to look at the girl with the long braid. Regaining her composure, the same small smile creeping onto her face. "So you work then? I mean if you have a boss...?" She asked, she was never good with conversation so she usually questioned people in the hope one would take off.
PostPosted: Tue May 24, 2011 10:46 pm

Sara's blush didn't go unnoticed, but Yue just grinned and figured it as an endearing trait Sara might display when embarassed. Yue tended to make people react in strange ways; it was what she liked to do best. Throw people off-balance. Why not? Even in fighting, it was one of her favourite moves: a sweeping kick to knock her opponent off their feet. But Yue knew when she liked someone, and she knew when she didn't; it wasn't one of those decisions she had to think about. And she knew she liked Sara. Regardless, Yue wasn't going to pick on Sara's blushing. "Of course he is, he's always hungry. Isn't that right, my little mooch...!" Yue cooed at Hime-san as if she was being loving, but her expression provided a teasing glint. Nevertheless, Hime-san chittered his agreement with Sara and ignored Yue.

Yue just laughed. "A game? I like that!" she said. "Maybe if we get you drunk, you'll confess all," she joked with a wink. It was good that not only could Sara be sweet and kind, she could also tease. What good was someone who had no sense of humour? Yue would overwhelm a Lunarian like that very quickly.

Hime-san revelled in the attention, burrowing his face against Sara's neck lovingly. He chittered softly as she tickled his belly, and flopped over her shoulder, nearly falling off. He curled his tail around her neck, as if hugging her.

"Yeah, I run errands for my boss, mainly. I'm not working right now; she doesn't need help today. I'm also her apprentice at the brewery. One day I'll brew the best wines in Lunaria," Yue asserted, with a confident pose. She grinned and said, "Only when my boss's stores run out, though... she is a master at her craft. I'm more good for beating things up." Yue laughed and gestured down the alley.

"So! Let's go eat," she added. She turned on her heel, and her braid swung out behind her in an arc. Mr. Princess climbed down Sara, and hopped onto Yue's shoulder. Secretly, they did love each other: there was the unconscious proof, Hime-san riding on Yue's shoulder even though he seemed to love Sara so much. Even if it was true that he preferred Sara, Yue was his guardian in the end. He wouldn't fully turn his little fluffy back on her.

Sara looked at her and gave a nervous chuckle as she spoke. She had never been a big drinker, back home she did not have much when she was out celebrating with her parents because her father did not like the idea of her drinking. Here Hua drunk a lot however since Sara usually had to carry the Wolf Maiden home she did not drink anything, otherwise she could imagine them both ending up in a ditch somewhere. "I can not say I have ever drunk that much. I might be the kind of person just to fall asleep." She remembered when ever her father came home he usually wondered in the back and slept, it did not do him much good though when he woke up for work the next morning he was usually suffering. Every time he swore it was the last but it never was, he did not do it often yet when the boys were up for a night out he was there. Thinking about it made her miss him, he was all a man should be and Sara loved him for it. She missed him and his drunken ramblings....

Though it became obvious why Yue had mentioned such a thing when she went onto talking about her career. Sara nodded and let out a small chuckle. "I see, that sounds like a interesting career. I have always wondered how you make wine. All I know is that you use fruit but not much more than that I am afraid." She had never really been interested enough to seek out how you turned fruit into wine, it was just always there. Yet someone had to make it and it seemed like it was a technique which was passed down. She wanted to ask Yue a lot of questions but she had no doubt she would explain. She sounded very passionate about her occupation. "You sound like you respect your boss a lot. I will be sure to send the word to my Guardian. She spends most of her free time in the bar." She nodded, it was always good to have a role-model in your life. Someone you can look up to and aspire to be like, Sara had many.

"Would you ever like to own your own bar? to serve your own drinks? I can imagine your personality would bring in a lot of people. You are very friendly." Yue seemed fully capable of pulling such a thing off, besides Sara was a girl who always had such clear goals. It never really occurred to her that others were not as set on the future as she was. "Indeed, lets." She nodded watching as the monkey left her to sit on Yue. The teal haired Mongolian smiled, it was a smug look - one that Sara did not give often. Yet Mister Princess had just proven her point and she could not hide it on her face. She nodded and started to follow after Yue her boots clanging against the flaw as she walked. Her pale eyes never left the magenta coloured Lunarian. Yue was a very pretty women with a strong personality and Sara respected her for that, Neg-Yue was a fascinating person and she found herself wanting to know more about her.

The two ladies went and they got their meal and Sara learned three things. One she had a talent when it came to controlling wild monkeys, two that there was only one person as loud and confident as Yue and three wine was indeed a very very very very very complicated matter.
