Light stepped gingerly through the soft bladed grass, silver-blue eyes scanning for glimmer beetles, waiting in the slowly waning sunlight for the bright speckled creatures to appear. Light loved glimmer beetles, loved to watch them, to chase them, to eat them. They were fascinating, both on land and on the water..
Light's head was dipped low not overly paying attention to where he was going, or his surroundings. His full focus on all the semi shadowed things that moved beneath his hooves. A faint rustling in the distance capturing his attention, making him freeze and stare before deciding it was nothing of interest. Glimmer beetles were not so big to make so much noise....just little things..

Tusk, on the other hand, was much more interested in the thick taught roots that were surfaced from the rich earth. He enjoyed their bitter earthen taste, and how filling they were. Over his many years, he'd sampled various breeds of roots, and had grown to chose a small list of favorites. It was at this time that he was searching for one of them. A ginger root. Young, or old, he didn't care. Both provided an exceptional delight that could not be matched by any other.
He took long fluid gaits, not giving much care to what laid before him. His head was held in a high, proud, and regal state. Eyes narrowed in a relaxed fashion, slowly scanning around his path. He'd been rather bored lately, feeling a bit displeased with the all too common and normality of his lone walks, and daily life. The buck had no connections to anyone, not even his own family. His family... tch.. it was at this time his mind began to wander to unpleasantries, making his stoic expression harden and disgruntled. But he was torn away from them at the feel of his hoof pressing to something firm... but only for it to flatten with a sort of... squishy feeling. Blinking, his head tipped down to spy some sort of bug swashed on the flat of his hard hoof. His ears flipped back, frowning slightly at this discovery... what a shame. With that, he gave a scraping to the remains of the creature onto the soft grass, shaking his head.

Light was elated, here he'd found it, a trail of the glimmer beetles. It was hard to catch if one was not looking carefully, the small flicks of scales and softly dotted foot paths it left behind as it skittered through the undergrowth of wet grass and dark earth. It was there though! Just the most perfect little trail, and Light followed it, like a hound on a scent, his hooves carried him easily. Eyes watching, watching..freezing.. Light froze, ears flipping back to press hard against his skull; bright red eyes usually so full of calm and intrigue going wide, before narrowing to slits with cold anger. This feeling was rather new to him, Light rarely had things to get upset over, and if ever a little bubble of unrest did rise up within him, there were always the stars. The stars and the calm waters, they always answered his questions and soothed his nerves.
There was nothing to soothe him in this moment though. Lights nostrils flared softly as he gave a quick huff, picking his gaze up from the earth and boldly marching up to the buck who'd squashed his precious prize. He'd not even looked to eating it! What a waste of glowing juices, of crunchy shell and beautiful multifaceted eyes. To go and squish it and then simply wipe it away, like so much swamp slime.. "You, you should apologize."
Light over waters voice was firm, curt, he would feel guilty later he was sure, normally he was very fond of formalities, the sharing of names and story's before truly entering into a conversation. His usual grace had quite escaped him in this moment.
