Damien shivered sullenly, gathering his coat further around him and tugging down his hat. His tail flicked fiercely behind him, aiming to whack the shins of the stupid people milling about stupidly behind him. In his mind, and in the mind of anyone he considered a sane person at this point, it was far too cold to be perusing an outdoor mall. He lingered by the firepits that were set up to warm the crowd, only moving when Gabriel's cajoling reached chihuahua levels of obnoxious. His hands were jammed firmly in his armpits, and his legs barely separated when he walked, lest some frigid air find a way in. He grumbled under his breath whenever they had to leave a store. It was obvious to even the most casual observer that the spawn was not having a good time.
What made it even worse was that they weren't even here for anything specific. Gabriel was flitting around the stores like a stupid butterfly, not paying enough attention to something to actually consider what it was worth to him. His energy only made his twin angrier; how could he move in this terrible weather? He snarled pissily as his brother came within earshot once again. "Gabriel! How much longer are we going to be here? What do you even need?!" He grumbled once again, gazing at the bleak sky. "I want my joints to unstick sometime today..."
Bright red eyes flicked away from what had caught Gabriel's interest this time -a glass blowing shop filled with many different pretty looking little things- and to his upset brother. The patience spawn cocked his head to the side, pouting softly and walking over to Damien, as Damien obviously didn't want to move anywhere. "I never go out for anything different, Damien. I'm looking for things for you and Ilyrosa," he stated simply, rolling his eyes and looking around the area, rubbing his arms. "You got paid, too. Why don't you get something for that... that kid you like. Um... what's his name... Shauna? Sherrie? Shhhe sells seashells by the seashore? Whatever his name is; that one. Why don't you buy him something?"

"Devan..." The silver haired woman looked down at her charge. "What are you doing?"
The boy looked up from where he was staring at a lot of jewelry. "Nothing. Just looking, momma." He hurried to catch up with her and gazed around. He didn't look bored just not invested. Was that normal?
"Thought you might be having a 'ft'." By that she meant he was after something someone else had. He just shook his head and perused forward. Nothing seemed to interest him. Other then the occasional cooking show which he liked but it didn't seem to get him moving. Unless his envy kicked in. She wondered if maybe he was lonely.
"Rainbow." He stated drawing her out of her thoughts.
"Wha?" She glanced up looking around. "We're inside, where the Hell do you see a-"
"Rainbow! I want it!" He was pointing ahead of them with a lighted expression.
Uhoh. 'I want' and Devan were never good words to put together. She scanned the ground before spotting what indeed looked like a moving rainbow. "Someone had a lot of hair dye." She commented but when she looked down at him he was already taking off. "s**t! Wait up Runt!"
Devan was amazed further when he realized there was a tail attached to that rainbow he wanted. He flicked his own spade in glee and latched onto it, hugging it with all he was worth. He hadn't seen some one else with such a long tail before!

Gabriel had an easy time ignoring his brother's complaints as he continued to window-shop, trying to find that special something. Note that it was always a 'special something' to Gabriel Avenue. There was no lingering on things to see if they were worth his money or trying to figure out if he had enough for whatever it was. No, no, none of that. Whenever he found something for his lovely, amazing, beautiful, wonderful girlfriend, it was always the perfect something. His gleaming red eyes would fall upon it and his heart would leap to the stars, immediately realizing how much he knew she would love it, heart pounding at the joy that he could already practically see painted across her lovely face. It was the same with his brother, naturally.
...well, mostly the same.
The strangest, bird-like squawk left Gabriel's throat at the moment that something armed ( as-in 'has arms' ) and surprisingly heavy tackled against it, causing him to fall hard against the thick-paned glass of the candy shop window he'd been staring through, startling a whiny-sounding little girl who stood just inside. Smiling sheepishly at a peeved-looking shop owner who proceeded to apologize to the startled customers, the patience boy raised up his tail, hefting the newly-found parasite it had contracted off the ground, and turned on his taloned heels, chuckling as he bent down slightly, meeting the boy at eye-level. "Well, hello there. You're a cuter parasite than I was expecting; nice wings ya got yourself, too."

Devan had no idea he'd thrown the other boy off balance. He was to busy burrying his face into the tail in a loving manner. He blinked when he felt himself off the ground and tilted his head. He slid so that he was upside down and smiling at the other boy. "Rainbow!" He responded with a smile reaching for his hair but he was sliding off and wrapped his arms back around him. "I got wings!" He flapped them a few times before he nuzzled shyly at the boy's tail again.
"Runt! Let go of him." A very intimidating woman put her hands on her hips. She looked at the two brothers a glare on her face, silently accusing them of causing her son to run off. She was short but had claws and slitted pupils in her green eyes.
"Rainbow, momma! He's got a rainbow. I want!"
"Oh no. Why Envy?" She asked rolling her eyes slightly.

Much like Gabriel, Damien squawked when the child came out of nowhere and latched onto his brother's tail. Instead of jumping into the window, he leaped to the side, hiss-yelling in surprise and glaring at the offender's. Even though Gabriel didn't seem hurt, or even really upset, Damien was still irritated, and turned his glare towards the fox-like woman coming up behind the child. He was already in a bad mood, so it was easy for him to want to vent his spleen.
"Hey, could you control your kid, lady? He almost sent my doofus brother through the window." Damien eyed the pink-winged spawn suspiciously, not at all charmed by his demanding of the impossible.
By contrast, Gabriel wasn't at all bothered by the little spawn, chuckling a bit at the way that the kid clung to his tail, letting him down to the ground gently to make sure that he wasn't going to hurt himself. At the comment about the rainbow again, he gently felt his headwings and curled a finger around a lock of his hair. He smiled a bit and gave a soft chuckle. "Like, my hair-rainbows? I know their great but, sadly, I can't really just take them out. We could probably find you some of the clip-in ones in one'a the stores, though? Do you want to do that?" Finally, he found something to spend his money on.

"Why don't you control your mouth, brat. Don't you know it's rude to talk to your elders like that?" She asked in aggravation. It seemed her and Damien had the same idea of taking their anger out on each other.
Devan touched his feet to the ground and took a half a moment to balance himself. "Yah! They're really pretty! They have fake rainbow hair?" He seemed astounded as he moved closer to take the other boy's hand. "I like rainbows! They're pretty and nice! Like you! I like your tail too."
"Who said you could go with him, runt?" DS asked with a glower. "I didn't say so."
"Pleaaaaase?" He asked holding his spade in one hand. "Rainbows!"
She gave a rough sigh. "Do whatever."
"YAY!"

"Just because you're older than me doesn't mean that you automatically deserve respect. I know plenty adults who are utterly morally reprehensible," came Damien's curt reply, crossing his arms and whipping his tail back and forth aggressively. He was in no mood to deal with bitchy mothers, especially ones who didn't even try to control their kids. His point was further proven when she simply let her kid wander off with them, and he sneered derisively. "And besides, you just your son go with two complete strangers. Pretty stupid idea, if you ask me."
Gabriel was completely oblivious to the argument between his brother and the guardian of the strange child. However, when they were snapped at, he glanced back, tipping his headwings back and listening for a reply. When they were allowed to go again, he chuckled at the fact that there was really no reason for them to have been called out at all.
"Yeah, they have fake rainbow hair. They have little clip-in things that go in your hair. You can't keep them in forever and they're not really real, but they're still pretty cool," Gabriel replied, positively beaming at the way that Devan kept complimenting everything about him, leading the boy toward the nearest Hot Topic. "Thanks! I am pretty cool, aren't I?"

"I think I know a brat who's morally reprehensible." She shot back her own tail flickering back and forth. "And don't be stupid, runt. I plan on following him. So keep your yap shut." She gave him a snort and began to trail after Gabriel.
Devan was used to his mother's brash behavior and openly ignored her. "Wow! I didn't know that! Yah you're the coolest person I've ever met! Cept my mom! She's pretty cool but you got rainbows!"

Damien snarled furiously at the woman, clenching and unclenching his hands with barely suppressed anger. If the woman was closer to his age, or perhaps not quite as intimidating herself, the fight probably would have turned physical. Ever since he fought with Gabriel's brat of a girlfriend, Damien had found it a little harder to control his desire to strike. But with a fierce bite to his lip, he was able to keep himself from doing something stupid, instead trailing behind the small party sullenly. "Stupid kids and stupid effin' rainbows with their uglybright colors and stupid fox-women..."
"Oh yeah, it's awesome. That way anyone can have hair as cool as mine, even though, y'know, usually humans can't be born with rainbow stripies in their hair, which totally sucks for them," Gabriel agreed, overjoyed to find someone who thought that he was so awesome, leading the two of them to the nearby, very black store with a surprisingly small entrance. "I am pretty cool, huh? And my rainbows are great, too. I was born with them there, too!!"

Devan treated the other boy was the most amazing person in the world. He soaked up the information like a sponge. "Really? That really is sad. N' mom said they don't got no pointed ears or wings or nothin!" He responds waving his arms. "Yah! Rainbows are nice! I want rainbows too!"
DS gave the kid behind him a grunt but didn't comment. If the kid fought her he'd severely regret it.

"I know, isn't that terrible?" Gabriel replied, obviously looking a bit horrified at the idea. "They don't get to have any of the special things that we do, they just get to go around being all... normal! They don't stand out at all! I would hate that, wouldn't you? And don't worry, we're going to get you rainbows."
When they arrived at the store, Gabriel gestured toward it dramatically. "Tada~ Hot Topic! Where they sell all kinds of... brightly coloured things. A lot of rainbows in this store," Gabriel introduced, giggling a bit before heading inside with his temporary charge, tail waving gently behind him.

"I guess so... I don't look as ... um... exciting as a lot of other kids. I got very quiet colors." He said looking at his gray and even his light colored wings. He peered at the place and frowned. "It don't feel very-WHAT IS THAT!" He moved forward with eyes the size as saucers as he spotted a static ball. It was one that had all the lightening in it and when it was touched those little bolts would greet your fingers.
He began to touch it and jerked his hand away. It didn't hurt but it surprised him. He touched it again and then in another place with his spade. "Whoa..."

Gabriel smiled, chuckling softly at what the boy said, headwings and ears both perked up happily despite the chill that swept across them when he did so. "Nah, you still look really cool. I mean, more interesting than normal people, right? Besides, I've never seen a kid with pink wings before, they're awesome. Same with all the grey scales, too. Even your tail is different than a lot'ta the other tails that I've seen," Gabriel noted, making sure that the kid didn't talk down on himself. After all, he had tons of unique features! Especially compared to humans, and their boring, normal features.
The pride spawn jumped a bit when the other kid ran into the building, hurrying after him and chuckling a bit. "Yeah, those things are cool," Gabriel commented idly, as though he had seen them all over the place. Honestly, he hadn't, and they still were cool, but they didn't really have a purpose, and he wanted to keep attention off of him. The spawn stepped over to the rack of hair products, red eyes flicking over them idly. Clip in hair extensions, all colours of the rainbow... well, at least the packages were small. They'd fit in his pocket better. Stepping back toward Devan, he tipped his head, asking his question in a hushed voice. "You don't happen to have any money, do you, Devan?" Sure, he did, but... not enough for all of the hair colours.

He stared up at Gabriel like he'd just been giving an award of some sort. He flushed deeply. "Wow... I never thought about that." He said stroking hsi tail lovingly.
When he glanced up at Gabe he had everything he could touching the orb. The tips of his wings, his tail, his fingers and even his nose. His tail let loose to start swaying back and forth. "Um... money? Oh... momma said I'm not old enough for money. She said people would take it away."

Gabriel smiled, glad that he was able to make the boy think of himself in a more positive light. So long as the kid still thought he was the eighth wonder of the the world, he was content. His tail flicked around his legs as he browsed the different hair and make-up options, trying not to look like the thieving street rat that he actually was, headwings tilted back against his hair.
The spawn chuckled softly at the way the other was pressing himself against the static ball, doing the math in his head as quickly as he picked out different colours of the clip-ins. He maxed-out the amount of money that he had within three of them; they were more expensive than fake -obviously fake- hair should have been, but if they would make the boy happy, that was all that mattered.
"Be right back," he stated to the other patience child, stepping toward the cash register to pay for the first three of the different coloured clip-ins. After all, just because they were the only ones he could afford, didn't mean that they were the only ones he was going to get. Just the only ones that he was going to pay for.
