Chapter 31: "A Losing Battle"
"So that's it?" The Gardevoir peered over the smaller Pokemon's shoulder at the computer screen and Tempest turned to give him a sly smile. "Pretty much. Mr. Powerful-Psychic can't work a CD-Rom drive to save his life, huh?" Alfred shook his head, returning the smile and stepped back from the electric type as she worked. "Yeah, well, I never really liked technology. I know some things after listening to Spike blather on for hours, but mostly it's simply stuff. Like compressing data into a folder." The Pikachu nodded absentmindedly, no longer really listening. When Tempest had a computer screen before her the rest of the world was tuned out. She right-clicked, sending the file in question to be copied onto the CD in the drive. It was a simple task, nowhere near worth the walk down here, but she figured she'd help Alfred out anyways. It beat listening to Banquo trying out that karaoke set someone gave him for Christmas. When she found the b*****d that did, she was going to strangle them with their own large intestine. "Done!" She chimed, pushing the wheeled chair away from the computer so she could pluck up the disc that just ejected from the drive. "It's all on here." Tempest waved the item in front of the Gardevoir, but he shook his head. "Hold on to it. I already know what's all on there. It's mostly a back-up in case..." He lapsed off, starring blankly into space. The Pikachu slid the CD into a case and snapped the case closed before attempting to catch his attention. "What?" "It's nothing, thought I sensed something. Well, thank you for your help Tempest. I'll see you tomorrow, the meeting." "Ah yeah, we have to wake up early for it too. Damn. I wish you'd schedule these things later one." Despite her pissy tone she was smiling as she slid the CD case into her pack and thusly slung it over her shoulder. "Catch you later, Al." With that the speedy electric type was racing out the tower, down the long stairs and off across the fields that made up the area. Alfred folded his arms, turning to the door that Tempest had just exited out of with a frown. It was starting to get windy outside. A rather sudden storm was approaching. He hoped she managed to make it home before it hit...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It-it's awful windy out there." The small white Weavile turned to her companion on the couch behind her from where she stood at the window. "Just a storm. No need to wor-" The male Weavile responded, only to be cut off at the end as the guild's siren began to ring. "What the devil?" The door burst open behind the two and a familiar black and white Ramparados ducked his head in. "La-lady Eira! We're under at-aaaaaAAAAGH!" Flames exploded behind the Fossil Pokemon, sending him falling face first into the ground. With a howl a Houndoom leaped onto the fallen Pokemon's back and each of it's three heads gave a toothy smile. "Heeeeerrreess Deimos!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The tent shook violently with each gust of wind that soared by. It was no storm that caused the sudden increase in it's speed or power. It was something else entirely. Neon squinted her eyes past the cold chill of air that nipped at her face and front paws from where she was crouched in the opening to her tent. She could see nothing past the swell of air currents and fog that had begun to spiral around. Chattering behind her, Ice let out a shriek and ducked his head under the table in blind terror and Neon almost wished she could do the same. Looking back outside she nearly screamed when a figure stepped forward from the maelstrom and extended a clawed hand to her. "Move your a**, lady!" The Espeon flattened her ears. It was that orange Weavile from the hospital! What was he doing here? Regardless, she was thankful for the help and extended a paw out to his hand. He closed his claws around her wrist and barred his teeth with a sudden ferocity. "You've meddled for far too long..." A pale blue light began to illuminate under his collar and Neon cried out in alarm. No! No way! This whole time he was a...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man, today was nasty-looking. There were dark clouds everywhere and the wind had nearly knocked her over multiple times. Looked like a storm was coming... Tempest skid to a stop, halfway between the boundary of Rebirth and the Guild of the Sun. She was torn between heading to her own guild and the Guild of the Sun. The Sun was closer and she didn't fancy being stuck in a thunder storm despite it not dangerous to her. She just didn't like getting her fur wet. Glancing up, her blue eyes narrowed. A shadow had just passed overhead, a large one in fact. Normally she paid no mind to the skies, but by chance this time she did and was quick to dive out of the way of a Skarmory sweeping down with it's talons extended. "Holy s**t!" The Pikachu tossed her pack to the side, eyes narrowed even more and sparks beginning to emit from both cheeks in her anger. "Watch where your landing, pal!" The metallic bird said nothing, it's mouth opened to emit a shriek that sounded of metal scraping against metal before it lunged forward at her with such impressive speed that the electric type had not time to react...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frost gritted his teeth, fighting to stay on his paws as another, massive impact shook the building. The higher-ranked guild members, along with the Guildmaster and his team, all lived on the upper levels. The higher the rank, the higher the level. It was traditional. Now, he was regretting it. "What's going on?!" That was Kenna's voice, fear filling her tone until there seemed to be no sanity left. The Ninetails was already pinned beneath a bookcase, and Frost couldn't get a good enough grip on the marble floors to reach her. She hadn't been briefed on the situation yet, and the confusion was striking more fear into her than the situation itself. He could hear Sonata's voice echoing in his ears; he hadn't seen her since the day before, and he hoped to Arceus that she wasn't in the same building, wherever she was. He was scared for his guild; they didn't know how to take down the massive Wailord, and it was already tearing their tiny guild limb from limb. "Frost, we can't hold it off any longer! It took out the elite teams!" Nikolas yelled, merging swiftly through the wall of the room as another tremor shook the building. Frost's ears flattened, not answering. Kenna followed his gaze, and she screamed. All they saw was a flash of red in the window, and the room was torn from the building by the jaws of a great beast.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Banquo's head snatched up in alarm as a window blew open near him. He dropped to microphone in his paws with a grunt and padded over to push it closed, only to have his intentions stopped by a flurry of vines that suddenly shot through the opening. "SWEET MOTHER OF ARCE-" His words were muffled as the plants begin to break through the walls, sending cracks along the ceiling and floors and they forced their way in. The shiny Manectric began to snap his teeth in desperation to break the hole the vines now had on him to no avail. "GLIMMER! GLIM-"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gardevoir turned at a sudden sound, the intercom system Tempest had rigged the other day was going off at an alarming rate. The storm was blocking most the transmissions, but he caught the jist of it with a sudden panic. An attack. The guilds were under attack? All at once?! But-but by who?! It didn't take Alfred long to come to his conclusion and he raised a hand to his face in dismay. Arceus Elite. "Dammit, I should have seen this coming. I'll have to-" In mid-sentence he turned, heading for the door, but froze upon noting the black figure standing there. 'Too late.' "Hello~ Thought I'd let myself in." Alfred instinctely stepped away until his back was pressed to the desk behind him, the static of the intercom system still spurting angrily. "To what do I owe this visit...?" The Lopunny said nothing, stepping forward with a slow swaying motion. A sword was hoisted over her shoulder, the blade giving an unatural glow. The Gardevoir inhaled sharply at the sight of it. That was the Mirror of the Forgotten. How did she have it?! The Elite were suppose to have... "You're one of them..." He said quietly, the dark-colored rabbit still not responding. "...you have legendary blood like me...you're with the Elite. Arceus is dying...the Elite are suppose to preserve the balance, but...so far they haven't." Still no answer, and she didn't seem to realize he'd struck a button on the intercom behind him, closing the other channels so his would be more audible. "...We were told...that Darkrai had some place in this scheme, but I had no idea he'd be behind it." "Oh-ho! Suecra finally gets it! Yes, you see...my dearest daddy has taken over the leader of the Elite. The leader is the mediator between the Elite and Arceus and so...they will listen to him without question! He's been playing all you like fools~ Isn't it grand?" Alfred raised his free hand to his blindfold to pull it loose and grimace. "...so, since you have the mirror I am going to assume you want to kill me." "Afraid not, though you'll wish I had~ Daddy would like to see you. He said alive, but that doesn't mean I can't have my fun." "You'll find I'm a lot more than you BARGAINED FOR!" He raised a hand, firing a Focus Blast and unintentionally falling back from the recoil and knocking the intercom off the table where it shattered into pieces. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[If anyones wondering, Rave is fine. He is apparently not worth the time to attack. XD;]

Solaris---MoonfallSolaris was rather fascinated with the device before his paws. The guilds had never had something like this before and it seemed like it would come in handy. Tempest and Spike had teamed up, two intelligent minds and techno-geeks, to create a long-range intercom system for all the guilds. It had taken awhile to rig everything together and even longer for the Pikachu and Absol to explain how the whole thing worked without confusing anyone. Needless to say, Solaris was still a little confused. So when the contraption begin to light up in front of him, static ringing loudly, he nearly jumped to the ceiling in alarm. It was all noise, he could barely make out anything that was coming through. He thought he heard Banquo's voice calling for help, he heard the sound of rushing water, crackling of flames. He fell from his chair when a scream echoed from the intercom, sounding almost exactly like Eira. "-can't-...hold....nger! It to-....teams!" "WH-...at's...HAPP-en-ING! S-SO....one...AN-SW...me!"The Espeon's fur was on end and in his panic to turn the volume down he hit the 'mass announcement' button that began to transmit the intercom across his entire guild and the guild exchange where everyone could hear it. Wait, what was this he was hearing now? That was Alfred's voice, but...who was the other one. "You're one of them..." "...you have legendary blood like me...you're with the Elite. Arceus is dying...the Elite are suppose to preserve the balance, but...so far they haven't....We were told...that Darkrai had some place in this scheme, but I had no idea he'd be behind it." "Oh-ho! Suecra finally gets it! Yes, you see...my dearest daddy has taken over the leader of the Elite. The leader is the mediator between the Elite and Arceus and so...they will listen to him without question! He's been playing all you like fools~ Isn't it grand?" "...so, since you have the mirror I am going to assume you want to kill me." "Afraid not, though you'll wish I had~ Daddy would like to see yo-"The voices crackled out with noise and Solaris slumped to the floor. Arceus Elite? Darkrai? The Mirror? "Solaris! What in blazes is that?!" It didn't take long for Moonfall to join him, the Umbreon burst through the door with wide eyes at what he was hearing and narrowed them at the motionless Espeon that starred back with a blank expression. "...we're under attack..." The feline managed to mewl out once before the lights overhead all began to flicker. "Attack?! Attack from what?!"A crash sounded from the other room, the main hall, and both Eeveelution turned sharply at it. "...that." Without pause the Espeon turned back to the intercom and rang the new warning alarm, a button that when pressed emitted a piercing screech. With the alarm sounding the two Eeveelutions took off out of Solaris's office and into the Main Hall to find the ceiling collapsed and rain pouring down inside the building, but no attacker in sight. "Wha-? Did it leave?""I don't know, but let's stay here and wait for the guild just in case."Solaris was worried, he wanted to contact the other guilds as soon as he could.

Rev---&--- Maxi"... So it starts..." The dark Zangoose was standing upon the roof of the guild when all the trouble started. His eyes were glazing over the land, unable to see any of what was going on, yet somehow he seemed to know. "I only hope we're ready..." Rev jumped off the roof just before the alarm went off, headed right to the Main Hall. "We will finish this, my old nemesis."
The door to the Main Hall opened, followed by the distinct smell of cigar smoke. "Heheheeee... Is time for Maxi to get out of ze' kitchen and get back on ze' fight!" The Toxicroak revealed himself, tapping his cigar and letting the ash float to the floor. "Jus' tell me who to kill, I make sure 'zey die." Placing his cigar between his teeth and interlacing his slick fingers, Maxi grinned and cracked his knuckles. He didn't even seem to care that there was no ceiling. Somehow, he didn't even seem to have noticed.

Era & Ethfael & Sereni From the moment the transmissions began, the entirety of Team MistMelody listened intently, although what they heard didn't make that much sense. It was obvious that the first voice belonged to Alfred, but the second was foreign to them. The parts that were able to be made out were menacing to say the least. The Elite of Arceus were taken over by Darkrai, and the person speaking to Alfred had some sort of mirror; Arceus himself was dying, and the Guilds were under attack?! It seemed like the world had collapsed around their ears in no time flat.
"We'd better go check things out," Era said quickly. "Let's hurry." She, Ethfael, and Sereni were out the door and to the main hall in no time, waiting anxiously and expectantly for Solaris' news.

Epitaph- Saileithe- DariusEpitaph had trailed in shortly after Solaris and Moonfall, the crashes and screams making her flee from her room rather quickly. She stood away from the group in the main hall; sitting atop a desk and staring motionlessly out a window. She had a terrible feeling in her stomach but the Flareon seemed relatively calm. Her attention turned back toward coming members after a moment as chatter began. Her expression wasn’t one of worry—it was rather neutral to say the least. Her ears perked shortly after as her daughter entered. “Quite an idea having us meet up here.”Not like they had anywhere else to go. “For all we know, there won’t just be a hole in the roof, but we’ll end up like everyone else. The Hall is clearly left undone in terms of damage.” Sai finished off with a hiss as she turned to look up toward the ceiling… If she had more to work off of than a hole, she’d try to close it off in ice. It didn’t take long for her Zangoose partner to drop in from the hole in the roof. He was soaked entirely, but seemed to ignore that quite easily. “…Either way, whatever did it isn’t there anymore.” Darius rubbed his eyes before walking over to Epitaph and sat beside her. The Flareon began to emit heat and turned to lay the front of her body on the Zangoose’s lap. Darius stared off into the group with a bored look and his ears weighed down by what his fur trapped of water. "Thank you for checking anyway~" Sai's voice rang from the other side of the room, the two having entered quite some time after the crash took place. Darius just turned his gaze away from her general direction.

Solaris---MoonfallSolaris fidgeted uncomfortably. The alarm had been rung and the guild had gathered, but there was no sign of the mystery assailant and no way to contact the other guilds. He could have teleported off himself, but that would have effectively left the guild floundering. He couldn't leave them alone! Moonfall stared absent-mindedly up at the hole in the ceiling. That very quickly changed when a massive Dragonite appeared in the middle of the hallway and hit the floor with a crash. Her body was subtly twisted away from the "norm" of her species. Her scales sparkled brightly as the sun that poured in from the hole above reflected off them. Her normal antennae were replaced by a set of gnarled horns that were complimented by a set of wings that looked like they came out of a picture book. Her appearance was complimented by a faint orange necklace with the black print of a Dragon's head. " I'm here for the pendant you claimed from the Mightyena. Give it to me at once." Solaris's attention snapped back, having seemingly been consumed by the shiny, shiny scales. " No way! I got that thing fair and square and I'm gonna show it to Alfred!" The Dragonite merely breathed in deeply before shooting out a blast of red air. It flew to it's target in an instant, knocking Moonfall off his feet and into the wall where he collapsed into an occasionally-twitching mess. " I won't ask again. Give the pendant to me at once or I shall take it by force." Solaris stumbled to the side; Moonfall had been just beside him. " E-Everyone! Get her before she destroys the guild!" " Idiot." HP: ??? Tolin & DesmondDesmond appeared in the middle of the team room suddenly, with no warning prior. The floor rumbled slightly as he hit the ground, sending a few books to the floor. " They're here." Tolin's eyes widened immediately. The book he held was simply dropped and the drawer was opened so violently it nearly broke. The pendant was out in a moment. " Take this. Check on Rebirth. Then Lady Neon." Desmond nodded. " If I'm not back in five minutes, something went wrong." The pendant slipped over his neck and he was gone. " Everyone! Ignore the alarm. This is an order. No matter what you hear or see, you are not to leave this room." The team stared at him. Some confused, some curious. But he was gone in an instant.

Rev---&--- MaxiRev watched the Dragonite, his arms crossed. "Well well... It's nice to see you again. Sparkly as ever, I see," He said to the mysterious Pokemon. He didn't even flinch at her first attack. "Why don't you pick on someone you're own size, eh?" Suddenly, the Zangoose was gone. After a few second, a Crush Claw attack was aimed right at her back.
Maxi took a fighting stance when the Dragonite appeared. "Maxi ze' Dragon Slayer. I like how 'zat sounds~" He inhaled deeply and then spat out a Gunk Shot right at the Dragonite.

Zori & KaiyouKaiyou came first into the main hall, his sheer size making him an already impressive figure, but the glimmering violets and golds of his body make him seem all the more regal, his serious gaze scanning the area. A sleek, graceful Leafeon was perched upon his shoulder, her golden eyes watching calmly, and her long, charcoal limbs draped comfortably down to rest on his chest. She seemed calm enough, but she, too, looked serious. She caught the alert look of fear in Moonfall's eyes, and the Leafeon slipped to her paws, jumping easily from Kai's shoulder. She sprinted to the Umbreon and Espeon's sides, her golden eyes narrowed. Epitaph was there as well, the pale Flareon and her daughter looking serious as ever, but she didn't know them personally. Moonfall was easier to approach. "Moonfall, what's happening?" She'd felt the tremors passing through the building, the crash echoing through the massive, formal corridors. She turned her head, leafy tail beckoning her brother to join them. Raven had been slower to come, ensuring that his mate and Lumon were able to take care of the kids, and tend to Suki as well. The Lucario worried constantly, especially about his family. The Dragonite appeared, and the Leafeon flattened her ears with a startled hiss, dodging to the side as the Dragon-type attacked. Well, that was one question answered. She hoped that Moonfall was alright, but she didn't have time to worry. She had to help. With a sharp cry, Kai dove in front of her, and she leaped up to cling to his shoulders. Her gaze seemed to glow with energy, and the Swampert began to run on all fours, moving forward at a high speed. His pace shifted, switching to sprint on just his hind legs, and his forearms curled out on either side, glowing more brightly than the eyes of his companion. A swift Ice Punch lashed out to strike the Dragonite as the Swampert tilted his body sideways in his zig-zagging sprint. He continued on, but Zori had leaped before they reached her, the Leafeon blasting a powerful Dark Pulse at the Dragon-type. It would hopefully strike with a reasonable force, given the velocity of the pair's movements, but she was certainly quick to get out of the way. She did not want that thing's attacks clipping her hind end by accident. That would be intensely not fun.

CelsusasdfImitiqwertyOliverqwerytChuckWith a battle cry Celsus charged at once, slamming teeth-first into the Dragonite with force that would send a lesser creature flying. As frost formed between his jaws, he flicked his tail upwards. "Get the wings!"Oliver and Chuck, having been thrown off the Gyarados's tail and now flying through the air toward the Dragonite, obeyed. They each latched onto one of the wings. Then, while Oliver busied himself with slashing a wing as hard as he could, Chuck shoved a Smoke Ball into the Dragonite's face. Imiti, for his part, made a horizontal barrier right above the Dragonite's head. (-3 and there are multiple things preventing the Dragonite from flying. Also, anyone who wants to engage the Dragonite in melee combat will have to deal with a cloud of smoke and three other Pokemon.)

Epitaph- Saileithe- DariusSai and Darius quickly turned their heads to glare at Solaris in unison. This… Thing could easily do to them what it did to Moonfall. Epitaph moved off of Darius at the force of his stand. She watched him straighten his posture before turning her view to the strange Dragonite; her eyes scanning it carefully. Darius was in front of the Dragonite in an instant, his fist pulled back before hitting her with a Thunder Punch. Sai stood, shaking her coat out before the ground beneath the Dragonite turned to ice. Throwing off balance was always an option. Second option? Her wings might have been a good idea and with that, the small Glaceon let loose an Ice Shard assault (5) at the Dragonite’s backside. Epitaph stood and walked over to Solaris and Moonfall though her view never left the Dragonite. “It might be best to get him out of here.” she stated, turning her head for a moment to look at the two. Solaris---MoonfallIf you had blinked you would have missed it. She was gone in a moment, having instantly reappeared elsewhere with the only acknowledgment of Rev's attempt being a quiet, malicious stare. It was then that the rest of the guild struck, their attacks moving in cohesion. Many of them underestimating the Dragonite. Kaiyou was simply punched. No special powers, no grand techniques. Just one, quick blow from a clenched fist. She was quick to move on to the rest. The two tiny creatures on her wings were ignored in favour of the larger one. Their efforts were feeble and weak. The knife would not pierce her wings. The Gyarados was the only real "threat", if he could be called that. So he was dealt with accordingly. She simply stepped to her side with an extraordinary quickness and smashed him in the side of the face, her fist crackling with a subtle electric charge. The two on her wings were simply thrown aside with one mighty flap to dwell with their team leader. A barely perceptible electrical pulse was sent in the direction of the three with the intent to paralyze and disable the larger one. If he was smart enough to know how to fight her, he could actually be a problem. Darius and the bevy of ranged attacks that flew towards her were... simply ignored. Her face was emotionless as the punch connected flawlessly and the barrage struck her. " I gave you a choice." With the simple statement and a few strong flaps of her wings, she was sailing up into the air. And she was just as quickly raining death on the guild. A single, sustained hyper beam tore through the floor, carving a deep ditch in the middle of the main hall and likely incinerating anyone it touched. Take her down! She's not impervious to your attacks, but you'll have a much harder time while she's flying around!Right Wing: 47 HP Left Wing: 47 HP TolinTolin dashed into the hall in time to see her take off into the air and fire off a hyper beam. That was crawling towards... Moonfall, wonderful. His dash turned to a sprint as he ran in and scooped up the half-conscious Umbreon to pull him out of the path. " Tolin, go put him in my office!" Tolin looked down at the Umbreon held carefully in his scythes then over at the Espeon. The Espeon could have just teleported him out of the way. " Fine." And thus, Tolin rescued Moonfall by running away from the battle just so that Solaris wouldn't whine. Solaris looked back from the Dragonite to Epitaph and fidgeted slightly. " Epitaph, you should get out of here. It's not safe." After all. Moonfall had gotten KO'd in an instant. This was hardly a place for a lady! Especially such a pretty one! Meanwhile, Solaris generally ignored the plight of his guild and the fact that the Hyper Beam's path had curled around and turned towards him. Amaterasu & IssunElsewhere, an Absol and her much smaller companion were taking a nap. They were far from the city, yet at the same time quite close. The Absol yawned as she stirred, her ears flicking back and forth to shake off the sleepiness. Her eyes shot wide open and she was on her feet, sprinting towards the city in an instant. Her small companion held on for dear life. " Hey!? Dog breath, what's wrong!?" She gave no response.
