Taylor really couldn't avoid this any longer, he needed to call Shylock, to hang out with his friend and apologize for disappearing for months. Even if he couldn't explain exactly what has lead to his avoidance of the other the pride spawn could promise never to do it again. Things could go back to how they were before and everyone would be happy for the most part. Taylor knew that he couldn't deny the feelings Shylock stirred in him but he also knew his own body rejected it and that he'd seen way too many movies where that sort of thing just ******** ruined friendships. However the teen really didn't want to lose one of his best friends and that meant apologizing for ignoring Shylock, maybe a bit of groveling and letting instincts guide him where more carnal thoughts were concerned.
Hoping the other spawn would forgive him Taylor took breath as he dialed the familiar number and waited for an answer.

The phone was eventually answered by the smooth voiced man known as Zanezidam, Shylock's father. "Hello?" he greeted pleasantly. In the background, the squeals and giggles of a little girl could be heard, and Shy's voice asking who it was from the background. Given all the splashing, they were probably giving Shy's baby sister Maion a bath - and she was having way too much fun with it.

" Hi it's Taylor , I wanted to talk to Shylock but if he's busy that's okay." Pride demons were known for their speed and Taylor's words came out in a rush but at least he hadn't jumbled any of them. He knew how much his friend cared about spending time with his family so he doubted very much that he'd want to come to the phone right now, especially after he'd been ignoring him.

"No, it's okay. He's just helping out Maion wash her hair, he'll be done in just a moment." Zane assured him, having mouthed to his son that it was Taylor and being told to keep him on the line for a sec.
"Okay, Princess, it's rinsey time." Shy told the little girl in the tub, having been getting the soap into the scalp of her hair while she'd been playing around. "We gotta wash you off so I can go talk to Taylor."

Maion giggled and closed her eyes so she wouldn't get shampoo in them. "Wanna talk too" the young girl still didn't fully understand how the phone work only that she could talk into it and people would talk back even if she couldn't see them.
" Ah okay then, she seems to have gotten louder since the last time I saw her," Taylor smiled a little at that. He had never had a real little little sister but he thought Shylock's was cute most of the time.

"Maybe if you're good, he'll wanna talk to you too, squirt." Shy teased, rinsing her hair off and pulling the plug on the tub. "Up time kiddo. Stand up so we can rinse the rest of you off."
Zane chuckled, "That'd be one way of putting it."

Maion stood carefully and grinned " I'm good," she promised. She was the very best Maion that there ever was, of this the little girl was sure.

Shy rolled his eyes and finished up with his sister before taking the phone from his Dad while Zane got Mai all dried and dressed.
"Yo Taylor. How've you been?" the teen asked, leaning on the edge of the doorway and grinning. He'd been waiting for his friend to get up the nerve to call him.

Something twisted in Taylor's stomach at the sound of the familiar voice. " Hey, I've been pretty good um busy and stuff," it was true not too busy to call but you know busy. " How are you and I'm really sorry I haven't been taking your calls and stuff."

Oh good Shylock was taking this well, maybe this wouldn't be that hard after all. "Just stuff, I mean I've been gaming of course but also i got sort of promoted at the garage where I was apprenticing so I got a raise and all that." Taylor was happy to be making more money and even happier that his skill had been noticed. Sure he wasn't as good as some of the guys yet and they insisted he stick to just cars for now to perfect knowledge in one area but hey that was fine.
Taylor also had home to experiment with although his continued schooling occasionally made that difficult. Some days he felt like he had learned all he wanted from the public school system and someday he felt like a kid again, lost in a sea of things he didn't understand.

"Well that's good at least." Shylock grinned, wandering into the livingroom with the phone. "We've got a new little one running around, besides Mai, and they aren't getting along too well just yet. I think Mai's jealous. I was gonna take her out to the beach today so she won't bother Cyrielle too much since Ma wants to take her shopping for some new clothes."
"Would you like to come with us? Mai'd probably like to show off her boat. Dad, Nero and I made it with her over the summer. It's a little crib type thing but it does really float and we stuck a rope leash on it so she can pretend she's sailing but not get away from us."

Taylor grinned as Shylock spoke, the other had such a strange but wonderful family. Not that Taylor didn't like his own but they were.. well they were odd and they didn't function the same, didn't feel the same. " I'd love to go, just promise me she's not gonna declare war on me and hit me with stuff?"

"No, she's not allowed to declare war or her vessel will get towed and impounded for a bit." Shy said, in an almost serious tone, glancing over at his sister, who was waddling out of the bathroom now, fully dressed. "She got in trouble for that before, trying to pick on Ri."

The pebbly skinned spawn snorted at that , not at all surprised something like that had happened. Maion was cute but oddly aggressive or well assertive in her insistence on being a pirate. " Alright then, when do you want me to meet you down there and should I bring anything?" Taylor was excited both to see Shylock again and to slip back into the friendship he had missed.
Maion grinned up at her biggest brother " No war today," she agreed, tiny headwings flicking back and forth in amusement.
