i haven't researched it, but the vast majority of people that slaughter these days say it's in the name of religion, but the vast majority of the people in the religion do not condone the slaughter in the least.

We simply use certain ideals as scapegoats; things like politics, religion, and the like are nothing more than scapegoats.

And if you look at many third world countries,
there are still many who are murdered because of religion.
For example,
most Palestinians believe that killing a Jew will get them into heaven.

Prof. Meow Meow I understand what you are saying, but that isn't always the case. It isn't as simple as that. In the case of killing people, it is pretty simple. People kill other people; idea's do not because ideas cannot (save for exploding your brain). As far as your example goes, Palestine is in no way a thrid world country, secondly, I would like to see proof of your example; that most Palestinians find it a good thing to kill Jews. Then, if said statistic is accurate, I want you to find me the portion of the Qu'ran that says killing Jews is good. If either the stat is not as claimed (i.e. less than half of Palestinians believe such) or the Qu'ran says differently (i.e. killing Jews is not good), finally, if both are wrong, your example is a bad example, and you ought to find a newer and better one.

Although I was researching the Gay Liberation Movement,
the quote itself is not only about homosexuals.
I haven't blamed any religions, just the people.
Conservative Christians and liberal Christians are both Christians.
The difference lies in how they percieve the bible.
Honestly, I kind of have broken look about Christians.
I see conservative Christians on the bad side,
and I see liberal Christians on the good side.
But I guess I should revaluate my perception.

Obviously, ideas can't kill people.
But I do not believe these ideas are only a scapegoat for murder.

Well, then until you can point people in the direction of said proof, your argument is essentially null and void. Meaning that you have no argument. I'm sorry if I have offended either of you. i am not offended, and at risk of putting words in chaoticpuppet's mouth, i doubt he's offended as well. we are here to educate and learn and we were both trying to do that. i know i have felt that chaoticpuppet can be a bit... blunt. i try not to be, but i think i can be too. we are trying to DISCUSS. we don't want to ARGUE. i hope we haven't scared you or made you feel uncomfortable about posting here, please continue to do so. Prof. Meow Meow But I guess I should revaluate my perception. this was my goal. people that are intolerant will speak in absolutes like "All ________ are bad because _________." when really individual people are to blame. and being that we are trying to promote tolerance in this guild, we felt the need to correct you. although i tend to like correcting people or being corrected and might not always realize other people aren't up to that task.
