New Mysterious Subforums Released

(I)n case you hadn't noticed, there has been a release of two new mysterious subforums this month. The first one being titled the "Supa Dupa Sub-forum", while the second one being labeled nothing more than "-TOP SECRET-". The SDS is scheduled to be released February 8th. Evidently, the title has been named after iMistah-kun's meme, "Supa Dupa", so it would be safe to assume that he has something to do with the creation of the forum. The only linked information about this forum is that it will, "Give POTS something that it has always been missing. It is everything, but nothing at the same time."
(T)he other subforum mentioned seems to be staying true to its name as no information about it exist other than between Mistah and Lance. A release date has not been given and neither has any teaser information. The only thing we can do is guess and speculate. If the subforum happens to be something that can be released into the general public then their are tons of things it can be. (R)emember that crazy cool arc I was telling you POTheadS about in the last newsletter? It seems like its going to be happening sooner than later. We got the chance to speak with a member of the Storyline Development Team that has been working on this new arc and what he told us, blew our minds! Obviously, we are not able to speak on everything that was said but if you all want some clues, I suggest looking at the Water Country and Kiri Threads. And while we are on the subject of those two places, we were able to speak with Luo, the Mizukage, and he gave us a message that is sure to make his opposition s**t themselves. He said:
"From the mists of Kirigakure, a group of great warriors will emerge again in order to combat the evil that once more roams the earth, and plagues the five great shinobi villages..."
No further comments were made.

(A)s Ukiyo and co. return to Kumogakure, many wonder at their purpose (at least, I do) and what they have in store for the village, which was rated dead last in the December village ranking. While they would undoubtedly make Kumo stronger with the return of a jounin, sannin, and jinchuuriki in addition to several new additions of genin/academy students, the equally demanding and more important question is how they will change the Cloud village's other aspects such as alliances and its part in the larger story of the entire guild as a whole. Up until now, Kumogakure has yet to establish the position it will take in the larger scope of matters and has really only formed alliances that have yet to be tested. This new change of leadership, however, seems to promise the end to such neutrality. However, any answers to those questions, can only as theories or wishful thinking. What can be answered concretely, though, is what had happened in the village hidden in the clouds since it suffered the mass desertion and from this answer further guesses may be made.
(D)espite involving only three people, "mass desertion" is a perfectly fine term to describe the event. Actually, it would only be a slight exaggeration to say that Kumogakure went dead the first few weeks after Ukiyo, Sarukin, and Aoi left (Note: Sora is still devastated by Aoi and would very much like to see her emo so Aoi had best make it her top priority to meet Sora and get a uber-mink glomp from her 4laugh ), a group that could be said to have contained some of the most active rpers in Kumogakure. Actually, Aoi was so missed in particular that she became a Sasuke-figure of sorts in Kumogakure and several retrieval missions were discussed for her and the other two deserters, but none of the missions were fully set into motion. There just wasn't enough manpower (or womanpower seeing how at that time the two highest ranked shinobi were both females) or activity, as mentioned before. However, even the gaping emptiness left by Ukiyo's abnormally large head after he left gradually began to fill up with newcomers. Despite the lack of a sannin (for some reason, no one decided to apply for the auto-rank), Kumo managed to just get by, really only having time to train the academy students.
(H)owever, getting by was not enough. Especially when it was made harder by Ukiyo, as Hikaro_Rin so aptly put it, "collecting all our Academy Students" with "his candy van". (Okay, maybe that isn't the most accurate way of describing it, but it is one of the funniest.) As it was so embarrassingly pointed out in the December newsletter, Kumogakure had not rebounded as it should have from its loss. No extra defenses were put up and there wasn't much to do…. Although, since the newsletter has come up, things have been picking up the pace. The genin are going out on missions (at least, the ones who aren't rped by people like me who gets stuck way too easily in other rp distractions) to be eligible to participate in the upcoming chuunin exams, which the village had missed entirely the last time. Academy students are also being trained efficiently into genin by the sole jounin and several gifted (if not at least more than decent) rpers had joined the village since Ukiyo's, Sarukin's, and Aoi's desertion. It seemed as if Kumogakure might just have a chance to build themselves up from the ashes.
(T)hen, as anyone who had read the beginning of this article should know, the trio of deserters decided to come back. Curse you for ruining a potentially good come-back story scream !!!!
Although, that doesn't mean Sora isn't happy to see Aoi again X3 .

(ค)lright, so starting now, the newsletter is going to begin having interviews with one of our loyal POTheadS each month. For the very first Q&A we have bb3000ae. Now, for all you who don't know, bb3000ae is a former guild captain of one of the largest Naruto guilds on gaia, NUR. In its prime, NUR was a Naruto Utopia, filled with amazing storylines and great RPers; however, in recent times the guild has degenerated, leaving only fond memories of how it use to be and thoughts of what could have been. While serving his guild captain position in the guild, bb3000ae showed extreme devotion even though he faced some relentless members. Now, as a newly appointed and dedicated crew member, he has found solace in POTS, just like all of you other POTheadS out there. Luckily, we were able to steal a moment of his time to do this interview as we asked him a couple questions pertaining to his experiences in the guild.

As we all know, you are the former captain of one of the most popular Naruto guilds of all time, NUR. In recent times, that guild has fallen from its former pedestal and now is a shell of its former self in most peoples eyes. Now you are a member of POTS and not just any member, a newly appointed crew member. Tell me, how has your POTS experience been so far, in comparison to your time in NUR?

Comparing the two I have enjoyed my time in POTS more then my NUR. While NUR has memories I will never forget the crew life their was one of disrespect. We spent more time trying to deal with problem members then we did improving the whole guild. We were always called in for some reason or another. Members would blow up the main page just complaining on ever move we made and one where groups of members would all just gain up and call for the crew heads, how the guild should be "a guild of the people" where we have to run everything by them no matter how little...needless to say it wasn't pleasent. Which is why I enjoy POTS, the members are friendly and get along and the only stuff the crew has to deal with is how to make the guild better. Not punishing John Doe, its peaceful and a place I can come to relax after a long day. Something I hadn't been able to do for a few years now. Lol too long?

No thats perfect. And I'm personally glad that you've decided to join POTS and that I'm able to work so closely with you. Now I know that one thing POTS is not, is a traditional Naruto guild. For one, we don't even have the Akatsuki. Also I'm sure that you've noticed a couple of other things that aren't the same as the series. How do you think changes like these are effecting our role-play? Is it something that as a member you find interesting?

NUR was about the same. Akatsuki never took off there ether, anytime they got strong all the villages would gang up and beat them down til only a member was left. We tried to focus on other groups but they never took off ether. Anytime we tried to bring something new like an Arc every member in the guild would try and job in at once and ruin it. I like how I don't find that here, such as the Zombie fight in Mist. In Nur every member would be there until every zombie died day 1 and no one would have fun. How the members roleplay depends if anything out of the series will work, and I see it working with this group of people as well as a dedicated crew.

:Reason for Position:
Iwa seems to only be getting stronger now. They have just shown to be affiliated with the Death Dealers. Also the higher ranks seem to be very busy helping the students train. Iwa has also been working on a new "rock" technology that seems to give special powers of some sort. Each of the members seem to be active and they are also the most populated village in the guild. Made Kumo surrender, so now they control it like a puppet. For a group of this size to have that much power seems a bit impressive. Strong alliances with Iwa and Suna only help to add to their power as it seems they are cooperating perfectly in sync. An example would be Iwa ninja tipping off Death Dealers and the Death Dealers doing tasks to gain information for this powerful force. Ryuji, one of the founders of the Death Dealers seem to be gathering intelligence about attacks in Kiri. That sort of information could prove to be valuable, especially when other villages have no idea about it. Also a new Tower of Death is now being constructed as well while, their three genin are quickly learning to be chuunin.

Right now, the Death Dealers need to make sure they rank up their genin and continue to do things to add to their power. Debuting on the rankings as #2 is alright but there is still more that can be done. Each member of the Death Dealers is going to need to work hard to make things happen as well as flood the Customs Thread. The only reason they are placed higher than Kiri and Suna this time around is because of their new control over Kumo. That means that if they will only be able to remain at this position if continued effort is poured into their members. (By bb: It would help if the members weren't just being trained by NPC's and kept in the dark...for 4 months...)

Luo is back to being fully active which is great news for the village. Also at this moment they are gaining first hand knowledge of new threat in the ninja world. Successfully defending zombie and new enemies' attack is showing a bit of the village's power and giving their members combat experience as well as keeping activity relatively up. Though with two auto ranked Sannin, a jounin, and two chuunin, I'm honestly left expecting and hoping for more. The village seems relatively fine for the moment but their Sannins are going to have to get active and their other higher ranks will need to teach those academy students as soon as possible.
:Advice:
You guys have two auto ranked sannin...there is no reason for this village to not be at the top of each ranking. More needs to be done in regards to training the students and making an impact in the shinobi world.
#4 - Suna
:Reason for Position:
The Kazekage hasn't been fully active. Village has been rather slow but doesn't show any signs of weakness. Eternal Sharingan has also been removed as well, weakening the full power of the kage's clan. Also considering that she must kill two more people to reach her second stage, puts her more at a disadvantage. Aeden has been selected to be Sannin when they could have easily found another person to auto-rank, then have Aeden officially join the village. Then they would have three S Rank shinobi within their village. The village hasn't moved much either to be honest as it seems that little has changed over the course of the month. The former number one village, has dropped down the number four.
:Advice:
My only advice, is to try to pick up activity and then start taking advantage of your alliances to do something big.

Kumo has surrendered to the Death Dealers. Whether this will make them stronger or weaker hasn't been shown as of yet. The leader of the Death Dealers claims to be bringing Sosay some sort of power but the exact source is unknown. Also with the Death Dealers pulling the puppet strings to this village, their fate seems to be in the Death Dealer's hands. There is a chance that Kumo will become very strong but there is also a chance that it may be pathetically weak. Only time can tell. Other than that, Kumo has been buffing up with new technology but since we have yet to see any of it in action, I'm not sure how effective it will be for them.
:Advice:
Use the technology that has been created to gain the upper-hand on other villages. Venture out into the world and find out what is happening out there. Understand the actions of your Kage.
#6 - Leaf
:Reason for Position:
Not much has been seen from the Leaf village. They seem to be stuck in the same position as always. Most ninja seem to be working on training or doing missions of some sort, like the aid to Kiri. Leaf's alliances are with Oto and Kiri. Although it sounds good on paper, one has to really wonder how beneficial such an alliance really is. With Oto's activity issues, and Leaf's almost frozen state, Kiri seems to be the only village capable of doing much. If the Leaf village can get enough of their genin to rank into chuunin then they will how a pretty powerful force, but once again that is power based on an if.
:Advice:
Creation is key. I recommend the kage getting together with their villagers outside of the RP and begin to flood the customs forums. Taijutsu Styles, Weapons, and especially technology are all things that will help aid the village and make them stronger. Everyone will need to be on the same page for such a thing to work. Oto is pretty much dead and inactive, coming alive only once in a while. Some people may blame the kage since the leader is usually the one who becomes a scapegoat when things are not going well, but is it really the Otokage's fault? When asked, the response from Cobra was that he believed a village should collectively make their own storyline and it wasn't the duty of the kage to do such. I personally think that the reason for this inactivity would be because the village is filled with almost nothing but second RPCs. That alone spells doom in my eyes for many reasons. Oto is going to have to do something if they want to gain more strength.
:Advice:
In Oto, I see a bunch of Second RPCs who are Academy Students. There is no way this village would be ready if a Chuunin Exam was coming soon. Oto seems to be a fail village at this point and though there are things that could help, the likelihood of it happening seems very low. They need to get those AS ranks to genin and fill them with knowledge. They have four auto-ranks so that shouldn't be difficult. Though I think that with one of those auto-ranks, no one even knows he's a ninja, so I'm not sure how that will play out when it comes to training.
(P)ersonally I think that this village was opened prematurely and should be closed. Though if it is going to remain open, then it's members are just going to have to work harder at training and getting more done.
