A private RP between Impy Kun (Meggie and Shade Fairbairn) and LollyxBeans (Kai Wulfe)
Location: Park

"-and they all lived happily ever after." Shade giggled as his mother closed the large book of fairy tales that she'd been reading to him out of before he looked up at her with big, curious golden eyes.

"Wha' 'appen'd af'er tha', Mama?" the little boy asked, cocking his head to one side as he posed the question. "Wh' 'appen'd af'er tha'?" Meggie grinned down at the inquisitive child in her lap and hugged him close, kissing his head before she responded.

"Well, they lived happily ever after; that's all there is." she told him. This caused the little boy to frown a bit and Megg blinked a bit. "What?" The expression on the little boy's face was kind of comical, even if Shade WAS trying to look serious right now. Really, it was hard to take ANY child his age seriously - they always looked so cute! "You don't like that ending?"

"Wha's tha' mean? 'App'ly ev'r af'er?" The impling boy squirmed, trying to turn himself around in Megg's lap so as to face her. "Huh? Wha' tha' mean?"

"Well, it means that bad stuff never happened again." she explained, standing up with the small child in her arms. He looked as though he were going to ask another question, so she decided that it might be best to cut him off then and there - otherwise, he'd NEVER stop asking. "Now, how about we go make a snow man? Then we can go play on the slide, okay?" As expected, Shade didn't waste any time pondering this offer, and quickly nodded in response to the idea of participating in these two activities.

"Okay, Mama!" The little boy's mother wasted no time in setting him down, his boots making a crunching noise as she set him down in the snow. They must have looked like quite the sight, sitting on a park bench on a chilly day like today, reading out of a book - but hey, they looked strange on a regular day, so there wasn't much of an issue, and Shade had WANTED a story. Now though, it was time for some fun.

"How about you make the head, and I'll make his body?" Shade giggled and nodded, quickly setting to work at trying to build the snowman's head - a task that would probably take him a while, but that wasn't a huge issue. It would keep him busy for a while anyway.

Perhaps he shouldn't have been out for a jog so soon after getting approximately twenty five stitches in his side removed. They had been removed, though, so how bad could it be? They didn't hurt...agonizingly so, anyways. Regardless, here he was, jogging through the snowy park with his 'pack', trying to keep Stu from flopping into a snow-bank and staying there, and somehow managing to keep them all on track without leashes.
It was, truly, a feat to be impressed with.

Chief lead the run, keeping Patch in line by snapping at the impatient pup if ever he got ahead of him. Patch was, effectively, pushed back into the rest of them. He moved to terrorize Sev, and Dolly, but Mistress snapped at him as well. Sulkily, he dropped even further back to tangle himself in Kai's feet.

This was when the whole 'running' thing stopped happening.
Kai tripped on the young pup, yelping with him as they were tossed over a snowbank and into the snow, He groaned and held his side, rolling over to glare at the grey and black dog.
"I feed you, I give you a home, I buy you bones and squeaky toys, and this is how you repay me? Why do you hate me? Why?"
Patch poked his head up, out of the snowbank, and yipped; not really a reply. It seemed more like he was laughing. Kai grumbled and growled, dusting himself off; but it wasn't until he rose to a sitting position that he noticed two things. One, his side was KILLING him, and probably bleeding beneath the thick coat he wore. And, two, he was in the company of two very familiar faces.

Megg and Shade were building what appeared to be a snow man only a few feet away from where he'd made his glorious dive into the white, fluffy hell; and it was here that Patch headed, tail wagging and tongue lolling.

"Patch, no! Heel, you little hellion, HEEL!!" He ordered, but of course, Patch didn't listen. He never listened. He continued to pounce and leap his way through foot prints to get to the black baby that looked so familiarly fuzzy. It HAD to be a friend!
But Kai didn't know if Shade would like Patch or not; or if he'd be afraid. He didn't want the poor boy to get scared and start crying.

"Chief! Get him!" He snapped the order, and Chief responded with a deep bark, bounding over and setting one large paw on Patch's back; effectively stopping his adventure before it started. Patch squirmed, and yelped, but Chief held him down with a flat expression, pushing him further into the snow when Patch tried to bite him to get away.

"Atta boy, Chief. Better teach him to listen." Kai said, wincing as he held his side and offered Megg a small grin.

"Why is it whenever I see you I end up getting hurt?" He joked.

"I feed you, I give you a home, I buy you bones and squeaky toys, and this is how you repay me? Why do you hate me? Why?"

Megg blinked as she heard the familiar voice, pausing in the construction of the snowman's body as she looked over and saw ANOTHER body in the snow - this one, however, was very much flesh and blood, as well as familiar. It took the young woman a moment to realize that the person in snow was Kai, and that he was currently trying to stop a pup who seemed to be quite intent on getting over to Shade. Unfortunately for said pup, one of the larger dogs went over on Kai's command and effectively stopped his little adventure.

"I'm just special like that, I guess."
she said with a small grin as she went over to crouch down in front of the young man. "Need some help?" She offered him a hand up, giving him a worried look as she say him wince and remembered that he was PROBABLY still recovering from his fall off the awning from a week ago. "And...maybe a band-aid?"

"PUPPIES!" Shade squealed and toddled over to Chief, having completely forgotten about the snowman that he and his mother had been trying to construct. The little boy giggled and reached up towards the large dog, trying to wrap his arms around its neck - he was, unfortunately, much to small for that, but he was definitely making an valiant effort. "Wan' p'ay wif puppies!"

"No. I'm fine. It'll close on it's own..." He didn't sound entirely convinced, however, as he lifted his coat, and shirt. Sure enough, there was a telltale dark patch on his bandage; not completely bled through, but it was bleeding enough that he'd need another gauze patch. And, soon.

Chief stared down at the strange, fuzzy thing that was spouting human speak at him, blinking and pulling his head back as...it, whatever it was, clamped it's arms around his neck. It didn't reach all the way, but damn, it was determined. He shook it off and pulled away, reaching his nose out to sniff it when he was at a safe distance. What was it? He'd never seen, or smelled, anything like it. It was...shaped strange. And it almost seemed like a puppy.
He decided that it was some sort of demented puppy. That had to be it.
Stepping forward, and no longer concerned, he bumped it with his nose and then licked it's face. It's fur, he thought, needed to be cleaned. Patch bolted as soon as Chief's attention was diverted, watching from afar as Shade received a much dreaded 'bath' from the large dog. Well; sort of. There was a strange fabric in the way, like what their Alpha wore. No matter, Chief thought. He'd just lick that clean also.

"...yeah, I don't think that I believe you." Megg wore a flat expression on her face, emphasizing just how unconvinced she was. She stooped down and managed to get a peek as his bandages when he lifted his clothes to look, soon seeing the dark patch in his gauze. Between his place and the mansion, the mansion was closer to the park - she knew that Zak and Nigel weren't fond of guests, but Kai's injury needed to be wrapped NOW. As far as she was concerned, the two bitchy mages could suck it.
"Come on, we're gonna get you cleaned up." Carefully, Megg helped Kai to his feet, slinging his arm across her shoulder to help him walk. A thought crossed her mind however, and she glanced to where her son was currently getting a tongue-bath from one of Kai's dogs - how was she going to get him back in the house while helping Kai?? She didn't want to let him walk all the way there on his own! He could hurt himself on the way!

"Doggie, doggie!"
Shade giggled and started to move forwards again as Chief backed up, only to have the dog start licking his face. The little boy squealed with laughter and fell back onto his rear in the snow, still laughing as Chief continued to give him the tongue-bath. "Doggie gi'e kisses!" Well, it would seem as though Kai's worries about Shade being afraid had been for nothing - the boy was far from being frightened! He was having the time of his life, really!

"Cleaned up where? Really, I'm fine, I'll just need to stay still for a bit-" Oh,but he could see that Megg was having none of it. He sighed as he realized this, and accepted her assistance with walking, though he didn't need it. It didn't much bother him to have a pretty girl in his arm, though his pride was injured more than his side at the thought that people might really think he needed help walking.

When Chief was satisfied that the deformed pup was clean, he noticed that their Alpha was on his feet, and with the woman. His ears twitched as they spoke; he could tell, somehow, that they were going somewhere. Very quickly, and gently, he picked the deformed pup up in his teeth by the back of his strange fabrics, and hefted him onto his back. There was a moment when the pup tottered, but Chief seemed to know that carrying him like he did the other pups would not be good, and shifted, so the pup would not fall off. Then, he trotted to Kai's side, and waited for him to start moving. Mistress and Bo gathered the other pups, Patch held securely by the scruff of his neck in Bo's strong jaws. He did not look happy about it.

No, Megg was definitely having none of it - Kai was bleeding, which meant that he needed medical attention. Relief came over her as she saw Chief trotting over with Shade on his back - that definitely eliminated the dilemma of her figuring out how to carry him back to the mansion AND help Kai to walk at the same time. Silently, she thanked whatever higher power had seen fit to bestow the world with loyal dogs.
"Like hell you do - you need new bandages NOW." Determined to get the boy fixed up, the brunette led him up to the mansion, paying no attention to the fact that Nigel and Zak wouldn't be pleased with the idea of her bringing someone up to the mansion - if they were that worried, then they could hide all their magical equipment. "My place is faster, and we have a first-aid kit there. We'll get you some fresh bandages there."

Shade was meanwhile oblivious to the situation that his mother and Kai were currently in - this was mostly because he was more enthralled by the fact that he was riding up on Chief's back. The little boy giggled, hanging onto the dog's fur as he bounced along atop the mutt's back, clearly having the time of his life. "Ridin' puppy! Shay's ridin' th' puppy!" He nuzzled at the back of Chief's neck, burying his little face into the soft fur - it was so warm! He would have probably fallen asleep right there if he weren't so excited!

"I'm fine! It'll stop bleeding if I stop moving." He insisted, trying to pull away from her. "Would you just...I'm FINE, really, just let me..." He tried, pulling away from her a bit. "R-really, we don't need to go to your house, Megg, just let me sit and I'll be okay..."
He could, however, see that it was not working.

Chief tilted his head back to check on the pup, wondering why he was making so much noise. He was sort of irritating. But, rolling his eyes, he supposed that was just how pups were. Patch, after all, was like that.

Indeed, it was true that Kai's attempts were doing nothing to sway Megg from dragging him up the path to the mansion, passed the gates, and was soon up by the door. She quickly led him inside, where they were greeted by a certain redheaded mage - Nigel.

"And who's this now?" The mage raised an eyebrow, his eyes on Kai as Megg helped him into the mansion. "You don't normally bring PEOPLE home, Meggie." There was a look in Nigel's eyes that could only be described as a glare of sorts, but the brown-haired girl didn't appear to be at all bothered by it.

"This is Kai, and we're going to get some bandages from the bathroom. The dogs are his, so leave them be." She didn't spare Nigel so much as another glance as she led Kai into the bathroom and let him sit down. "Take your coat off and lift your shirt while I get the first-aid, alright?" She moved to one of the cabinets in the bathroom and began rummaging for the white kit so she could get the supplies that they needed. "I'll clean it up."

Outside the bathroom, Nigel was currently glaring up at the group of dogs that was now situated in the entrance of the mansion. Having the impling and munster boys was bad enough, but dogs? Dogs were a PAIN in the a**.

"Loo' Nig'l! Doggies!" Shade giggled and nuzzled the back of Chief's neck, clearly ecstatic. Nigel, of course, was less than this.

"Joy. More fuzzy nuisances..." Megg had better hurry the hell up with whatever she and that...BOY were doing in the bathroom.

Well, there was no helping it now. He was in the creepy mansion. He was in the creepy mansion, and he was probably going to die. There was going to be an Igor, and...

And, surprisingly, there wasn't.
Just a cranky red head, who seemed to have a serious hate on for him. He returned the glare, wondering if he was related to Megg, or simply a roommate. He didn't have time to say anything, however, as he was towed into the bathroom. He sighed as Megg proceeded to order him around, glaring sulkily at her - but, doing as he was told.

"Do you have a defect that makes it impossible for you to listen? I'm fine. All this moving around probably made it worse anyways..." He muttered, shrugging his jacket off. He laid it on the counter and proceeded to roll his shirt up, wincing as he saw that the bleeding had, in fact, gotten worse. If he kept all of this 'moving' up, they'd have to replace the stitches. He scowled.
He didn't like to accept help, from anyone. He was an extremely proud man, and even when the help came from a pretty girl, well... The fact that he was receiving it just made him cranky.

Out in the entrance, the dogs were in a considerably better mood. Chief was still, standing with Shade on his back; he didn't dare sit, or the pup would fall. Bo didn't seem to care about Nigel's irritated glances and muttering, but Mistress...
On the way there, Patch had been transferred between Bo and Mistress. He listened to his mother better; but that didn't mean he listened well. He was currently squirming around in his mother's jaws, wiggling and swinging and generally sending the female's mood down the drain. It didn't help that they were waiting with a foul tempered man.
The dogs had as much personality as humans did - and if Mistress were human, she would have been a very vindictive b***h. It was this very reason that she let Patch drop to the floor, and watched him yap and skitter around, crashing into a table as he did. A table which held a vase. Which, when it's stand was knocked over... fell.

Megg, who was fairly used to moody guys - what with Nigel and Zak being prime examples of bitchy men -, didn't seem at all offended Kai's sulky behavior. She did, however, have a response for it. "I hate to tell you this, but you would've had to move to get back to your apartment." After carefully removing the old bandages from Kai's side, she proceeded to dab at the wound with a cotton ball that she'd put a bit of alcohol on, using it to clean the wound gently. Once she was done with that, she took out the fresh bandages and began wrapping them around Kai's torso - which, she observed, was very nicely toned. The young woman tried not to blush as she beheld his abs before they were covered up again by the bandages. The guy had a nice body, she'd give him that! "You would've had to go SOMEWHERE at some point - the mansion was just the closer of your two choices." With that, Megg tied off the bandages and took a step back.

"There, done. Would you like me to leave you alone now?" He seemed peeved, so perhaps it would be best to give him his space for now - she realized that she HAD pretty much dragged him here, and that he probably wasn't too happy about that. Still, she'd only been trying to help him. What was with some guys and accepting a little help once in a while?

Nigel reacted quickly, sending out a spell that caught the vase just before it hit the ground. At the same time, he caught Patch with another spell, pulling the pup back over to Mistress, whom he gave an irritated look. he muttered, causing Shade to gasp.

"Tha's a ba' w'rd, Ni'el!" Nigel merely rolled his eyes, paying no mind to the little boy. Instead, he called in the direction of the bathroom.

"Hurry up in there, would you?!" If they didn't, he'd have no trouble depositing all the dogs outside - it would take a very simple spell, really.

Kai laid a hand on the bandages and patted it, examining the job she had done. He had to admit; she had a point. And, she had done a good job of dressing the wound. Not that he'd admit it.

As opposed to answering her question, however, he looked at the door as Nigel yelled.
"I have a question. Who the hell pissed in his corn flakes, then shoved them up his a**? Is he always this cranky? And why is he swearing out there around Shade?" He wasn't sure of what Nigel had said, but he'd certainly heard Shade's gasp and accusation. He narrowed his eyes. Would the man try to harm his dogs? He hoped not. They could defend themselves, but they could still get hurt. And the bitchy red-head out there could sue.

He stood and dropped his shirt down, pulling his jacket on and glaring at the door. He didn't like this 'Nigel' character. He was an a*****e.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 12, 2011 4:24 pm

"No one did, yes, and I don't know, but I'm gonna kick his a** for it if he is." Megg said, responding to all the questions in one go as she put the first-aid kit back up into the cabinet. Clearly, she was quite used to Nigel's attitude, as well as irritated by it. "He doesn't like having people over." Figuring that Kai was okay now, she moved to open the door and glared at her foster father on the other side.
"Watch your mouth around him, would you?! I don't want him picking up bad language!"

"Yes, because you're a SHINING example of good language." Nigel rolled his eyes from where he now stood, leaned up against one of the walls. "As it is, I don't think that the daughter has a right to tell her guardian to watch his language. Now hurry up and escort your friend out - Zak and I have business to attend to, and if you won't show him to the door, then I'm sure that Zak would be more than happy to do it for you." The redheaded mage gave his foster daughter a smirk, and she returned the look with an angry glare. He was such an a**. It was no wonder that she'd had no friends growing up!

"FINE." Megg normally would have been happy to argue it out with her step-father, but really, she didn't want to have to explain to Kai about the whole magic thing - not yet. She'd only met him once before, and she didn't doubt that he'd freak out. It had been hard enough getting him to come up to the mansion! She could only imagine what would happen if Zak and Nigel started throwing magic around! It was illegal to do, but since when did those two follow the laws anyway? The young woman grumbled to herself and turned back towards Kai. "Sorry for dragging you all over the place like this, but...it might be best if we leave." She frowned a bit. "How're you with moving?" She didn't want to hurt him again, but she didn't think that staying in the mansion right now would be a good idea either.

Guardian? Daughter?
He stared between Nigel and Megg, trying to make the connection that would explain how, exactly, they were related in the SLIGHTEST. It didn't make sense! This Nigel guy looked to be the same age HE was, and that...well, not only was it impossible, but it was downright creepy.

"Bwha?" Ever articulate, he turned to look at Megg as she apologized and asked if he could move. It took a moment, but he finally processed what she'd said, and nodded.
"Er...yeah. I'm good with moving...you wrapped me up pretty good..." Better than the nurse had, in fact. He wondered where she'd learned that.
