 Asha coughed. It seemed to shake her entire frame and all the dark lioness could do was grit her teeth and continue on. Ever since she was young she had been subject to a string of illnesses, all the same and all seemingly to be her last in the most mortal sense. Asha prevailed each time though. She was able to grow into the lioness she was today by the help of her adopted mother, who was a simple herbalist. Now that her mother had passed on it was up to Asha to try to heal herself.
Muffling another cough Asha continued to scan the ground for a common plant that grew near by. It was the same plant that she had used dozens of times in the past and the one she silently feared she would need to use many more times in the future.

Baridi Mokovu was running hard as he tried to warm up his body in this cold early morning. Even the grass's dew had frozen into little icicles. As he ran he dodged some tress and broke into the open area. He started to relax and close his eyes, hearing his paws and breathing deep. He opened them up only to be shocked at what laid in front of him. He skidded to a stop as he almost ran straight into the back of a small purple lioness. He dug his claws deep into the earth and felt his head roughly hit her side. At the impact he fell to the ground with a loud thud, he humphed and tried to stand back up.
"I am so so sorry!" He said as he shakily stood up and tried to clear his head. He felt bad he had ran into her, normally he was never so careless. He should have known better, he never let his guard down like this.

Asha had finally spotted the small plant and was about to pick it when suddenly she was shoved from behind by something horribly heavy. With a surprised gasp she landed in the dirt and grass. Her head was all jumbled as she tried to make sense of what just happened.
When someone apologized a short distance away Asha turned her head to see a white lion standing just as shakily as she felt. Apparently he had run into her. She was about to reply when her frame was racked with coughing. The dust that had been stirred up made her normal cough sound as if a lung was trying to climb out of her body.

Mokovu felt awful as the female was about to spoke and only choked on a fit of coughs. He immediately ran to her side and looked at her with worried eyes. He wa so upset he had caused this, why did he let his guard down so low?!
"I am so so sorry!" He said again to her as he tried to think of something that would help her out. He did not know what to do to help this poor female out. He started pacing back and he couldn't help but feel stressed out at what he had caused. "oh my oh my! Uhm is there anything i can do to help you?"

It took Asha a little bit to get her coughing under control but soon she was able to answer even if her voice was still raspy, "yes, can you stop kicking up more dust?" Her question ended with another short round of coughing.
Asha was able to get everything under control a lot faster this time. When it seemed that another coughing fit would not strike soon she got to her feet a bit shakily. "Well that was fun," she said ruefully as she glanced at the herb that she had found moments ago; it was crushed and useless. And now she would have to begin her search again.

Mokovu stopped instantly as he realized he was making the situation worse.
"Sorry again!" He said repeating himself, he felt awful. Not only had he trampled her but he also realized she was looking down at a plant. The plant was now crushed and torn, he hoped it wasn't to important. "Was that plant important to you?"Mokovu said feeling as crushed as the plant right now. He even started to wonder why she was so concerned about the dust. She must be super sensitive or sick...maybe she needed that plant. His heart started to lurch even lower into him.
He slowly made his way to the plants and tried to shuffle them into one pile. It was a useless attempt.

Asha couldn't help but smile at the lion. He just made her life harder at a time when it was hard enough and yet it seemed he was trying to help. "Its ok really. I just needed the plant to get rid of my cough." Said cough came back for a short fit, her frame shook as she turned her face away. It showed the recent hardships that Asha had faced; she was thinner then normal and her coat was duller then it should be. Once she was able to breath without setting off a coughing fit she continued, "But really dont worry about it I'm sure I can find another one near by. They do tend to grow in one general area." I hope, she added silently.

Mokovu tried hard to hold back a smile, he felt like his attempts to help were just making everything worse. He blinked oddly at her and his lips gave a slip to reveal a flashing grin that quickly disappeared.
"Oh I feel just terrible now" He tried to wipe away the dirt from the plant but still it was hopeless it was ruined beyond repairs and now he was responsible for her coughs. His eyes saddened it made him feel bad knowing he was making someone else weak. He felt even worse as she had a cough fit, he had to help her."Yes that's it! There has to be another one! "Mokovu said as he swung his head around scanning quickly for a similar plant. He would find this plant or die trying. His eyes rested on the sight of water not to far away.
"Here lets goto that small pool of water there might be some growing around and plus you can refreshen your throat"

Asha laughed softly as she watched him bounce from trying to salvage the ruined plant to searching for a second plant. She had never met another like this lion. Never had she been bowled over, quite literally, and then find that the one who did the bowling apparently wanted to help. Even laughing softly caused her to begin coughing again but the fit was soon over.
She hadn't quite gotten her breath back completly when the male suggested they head over to the pool of water. He was right, the water should help ease her throat and if luck was with her she would find the plant growing near it. Asha got to her feet and slowly headed that way, her breath wheezing softly.

Mokovu smiled to himself as he heard her laughs. It made him feel better to see her finding himself quite humorous. But he couldn't help but try harder as he heard her coughs.
"Hmm if I was a plant were would I be/" He said as they neared the pool of water. His eyes scanend but he stopped briefly to flick his tail."Get some water and I'll look around "Mokovu said as he leapt away to anywhere he could spot green. He dug around looking for that plant but none of them were the right kind. He finally spotted a thorn bush that was blocking some green leaves. He sighed almost giving up but went anyways. As he got closer he could smell something familiar and sure enough the leaves looked familiar. He pushed his way past the thorns feel them catch and tear at his pelt but he had to retrieve them for her.
He huffed and finally took a mouthful and pulled himself out.
"I fink I foun'ome!"
He mumbled through the leaves as he bounded to her side and placed them gently on the ground. He looked up to her hoping he had grabbed the right ones. He felt a sting on his shoulder and neck from the thorns but ignored them for now.

Asha watched as the male searched for her plant. She was quite perplexed. Occasionally she has met others who were willing to help her search but none quite as enthusiastic as him. He was right about one thing, getting a drink of water really helped her throat. She was taking a second drink when the male returned with a mouthful of plants that he placed gently on the ground. She smiled in surprise. He had found the right plant. Against everything she expected he had exceeded, but at a price apparently.
Asha saw the flecks of blood on his white coat and knew he gotten them in his quest to find her plants. With a smile and a kind voice she gestured to the water, "Thank you. Now, in to the water to clean and sooth those scrapes. Once clean they should heal quickly enough" Asha's smile was bright and wide. She would help him farther if the scraps were worse then they appeared. She slowly began to chew a few of the leaves that the lion had found for her.
Today wasn't turning out so bad after all.

Mokovue grinned sheepishly as she helped him. He had hoped she would not notice but it showed her kindness. He made his way over to the water and dipped in making sure he was soaked to clean out the wounds. He would let his fur dry slowly, there was a slight breeze that should help him too. He made his way back up to her.
"I'm glad we found some" He said as he shook his pelt before he got close then went to he side."May I ask why you need these plants specifically? "Mokovu said curiously as he laid down near her. He wondered if she had just caught something or if she had always been this way. He hoped it was the first thought. He could not imagine struggling every day and relying on rare plants to be healthy. it seemed like such a hard life.
Mokovu suddenly realized ho lucky he was to be healthy, he was very grateful for what he was blessed with. Seeing her made him more grateful for his life, now he just wanted to help make her life easier.

Asha watched as the pale male shook off the excess water and made his way back to her. With a sharp eye she studied his pelt. She did not see any bright stains of blood as a deep scratch announced itself but there was still time.
Still chewing the leaves Asha paused a moment to gather her thoughts, "They help quell the cough. Its like drinking water all the time to the point that I no longer feel the need to cough. For the most part it works but not always." Asha learned at a young age that once the cough was killed she would recover in a matter of days. She never learned what made the cough rack her body but she knew that without the plant, the cough would eventually kill her if only for the fact that it was difficult to hunt when always coughing.
((think cough drops or syrup. I'm kinda wing it here ^^'))

Mokovu sat by her listening to her as she explained how they helped, he would remember this for the future. It's these small encounters and experiences that just may benefit him in the future. He started to wonder what would happen if she could not find the plant but he did not feel it was right to ask.
"Interesting.." He said as he watched her closely, every moment he soaked in.]."Do you only get coughs?"Mokovu asked with intrigue as he had hoped the answer would be no. He felt a sort of need to be by her and help her, like a sort of protection to keep her safe and most importantly healthy.

Asha smiled weakly. Mokovu seemed interested in what she said. "Mainly the cough but it causes issues which is why it is such a pain." She shrugged and added, "Then again I guess it could always be worse."
Asha could feel the effects of the plant on her body. The insentient need to cough was fading and as it did her body finally began to relax. The consent coughing had kept her tense and unable to get a decent sleep, adding to the lethargy of a nearly empty belly. With a sleepy smile Asha sighed before placing her head on her paws. "The good thing though is now I can take a nap with out waking up ever three seconds coughing." A quick glance around showed that the best nap spot was right there, well other then the thorn bush which she was not going to mess with. "Thank you for your help and I am sorry to do this but I have to get some sleep. After having nearly 2 days with little sleep I really can barely keep my eyes open." With a sleepy smile Asha closed her eyes and drifted into a light sleep, something that she really needed.
