Pizza, free delivery, and an edge of fancyness!
Because who doesn't want formal wear associated with their pizza?

“This was my brother Gerald’s first job,” Danny explained cheerfully as he set a brisk pace for the cramped pizza delivery place, zigzagging around stragglers lingering on the corner looking expectantly at the crosswalk. His fingers were warmly laced with his almost-kinda-boyfriend’s, their hands sweeping back and forth with their steps. “He still has the scooter at my house. Mum lets me drive it to the store sometimes.”

Godfrey nodded, tilting his head upwards slightly as the smell of freshly cooking pizza reached his nostrils, mingling with and temporarily overwhelming the stench of ozone, trash, and humanity that he associated with the city. It was hard not to be aware of it, being that he spent most of his time at Hogwarts or at his home, where fresh air and the smells of nature ran rampant.
Not to say he hated the smell of the city. It was sharp in his nostrils but he welcomed it. Not everything in the world that was unpleasant was bad, after all, or should be thought of as bad. The smells and noise and bustling of muggles all about them had always been a draw to Godfrey, and he appreciated the city for the life it held, and even envied it. He could do without the cars but the rest of what made the city so brilliant, so enticing, made him love it and covet the meaning of it. At times when he was alone or waiting for a light to change, he would close his eyes and pretend the sheer amount of people around him were not muggles, but wizards.
If only they could have a city like this some day, live together so openly without worry, free to create their own stenches and lives in such a city. Hoggsmeade was nothing compared to this.
"Why don't you get a scooter of your own? It would be fun to drive around the city on it." He asked, and suddenly smiled. "Better yet, why hasn't your Dad given you one you could drive and fly?"
Not that Godfrey would want to fly on it. He far preferred to keep his feet on the ground. Going fast was never the problem, in fact, now that he was imagining weaving in and about all the cars and people, he was eager to try it. Maybe he could cajole Papa into getting him one......shame he had never thought about it before.

“Well, Dad works on motorcycles, actually,” Danny explained as they reached the neatly washed glass door of the shop, his hand lingering at the brightly green painted doorframe before he drew it open and was greeted by the cheerful jingle of a bell. “But Father won’t let me ride one until I’m ‘legal enough to get yourself killed by your own decisions’ which I reckon is seventeen.” The Hufflepuff cracked a grin.
The delivery place was small but somehow three men with olive-toned skin fit in the space, moving quickly to assemble pizzas and stack them up with the necessary paperwork for the delivery boy. Said boy made the team a foursome, hardly a year or two older than Danny and Godfrey, his smile quick and polite as they entered. He quickly took his stack of deliveries and left the shop.
“That was Gabren,” Danny mumbled, his own smile drifting a little. “We were almost dating once. But his Dad didn’t like me much, too many secrets. Muggle,” he added, a little sadly, “And most of the time these days you need a court order to be allowed to talk about Us to Muggles.”
The smell of pizza wafted over them, a jumble of sharp-scented tomato sauce, the buttery crispness of cooking crust, and the heady smell of freshly grated cheese. Danny seemed to be cheered up by the familiar smells.
“What kind of pizza do you wanna get, Godfrey?”

"Some laws the ministry enforce actually are for our safety." Godfrey reassured Danny, bumping his hip lightly against the taller boy's hip.
"But not all. Besides, if you really wanted to be with someone, just had to or you couldn't stand living with yourself, you would do whatever you could, wouldn't you? Even if it meant a couple of months of court BS."
"And I like all toppings but I like olives the best, all kinds." Godfrey wasn't sure if Danny liked olives, there were certainly a large number of people who despised the very sight of them. But Danny had asked, and a pizza just wasn't a pizza to him unless it had olives on it. "Green olives are my favourite though."
He had loved olives since he was a little boy, often sneaking them from the fridge for snacks. Indeed he had a jar in his bedside stand and would often suck away their saltiness while studying in bed.

Danny considered Godfrey’s comments on the Ministry of Magic standard procedure, his expression pensive despite the light-hearted bump to his arm. Gabren had lived just a few blocks from him when they were children and had played with him on scattered sunny afternoons when family structure didn’t matter as much as collectible car models and water balloons. It had been alright, seeing him on weekends away from Hogwarts, until Gabren’s father had questioned deeper into Father’s career as a doctor, wanting to know which hospital he practiced at. Things had deteriorated rapidly after that.
“Maybe if I was older and in love with them,” Danny replied after a long, lingering glance at the linoleum floor. But it wasn’t Gabren’s initials he used to sharpie on his Converses in third year. He squeezed Godfrey’s hand impulsively and gave him a slack grin, all sun and no seriousness. “Olives it is,” he added, perfectly content to pick them off later.
He ordered politely, adding a pair of sodas to the ticket after glancing at the humming cooler in the corner. Gabren’s uncle gestured for him to take their pick of the 22 ounce bottles after Danny offered muggle paper money for their order.
“Oh, hey, I was gonna ask you,” Danny said suddenly, plucking a coke from the neatly faced bottles, “My brother’s taking me to see Cracked Iris next weekend. It’s a really tame show, kinda small compared to… other underground bands you might know,” he worded himself delicately, uncertain of his ability to mention Coversluts and not spit at the thought of his former second favorite band. “They’re awesome, seriously. And since Gerald’s going with us, I bet your parents will let you, since he’s twenty-three.”

Godfrey stayed a bit closer to Danny, sensing he was a bit pensive about his friend. Was he even allowed to see him anymore? Godfrey had never really had muggle friends himself. He had always been content with tutors, Adela, pets, and lake monsters. Besides, he had an uncomfortable tendancy to light things on fire as a child, which would certainly would have been hard to explain to muggle school teachers and parents.
He had never sought out muggle friends either. Josh was the first person his age he had really taken an interest in. And Godfrey knew from.the moment he met him that he couldn't be ordinary with those yellow eyes of his.
Godfrey didn't drink much soda, so he took Danny's lead and plucked a coke from the line. "Oh, sure, I'd love to go. I'm sure my parents won't mind."
He would ask Gilderoy. Maybe he could even manage to wrangle permission for a concert and consideration of a scooter or something out of him. He didn't consider asking Harry for a moment, because he knew Gilderoy would interject and possibly tell him no, depending on how the two had been getting along that day.
"Are we going to get there by scooter?" He asked, grinning. "It'll be nice to meet your brother, but if we all have to squish together, I call the middle."

“I reckon we could,” Danny said with a quick, easy smile; he was full of them today. “Or, there’s a place closer to one of the universities that rents them out. We could do that before the show… it doesn’t start until nine or so.”
The acceptance of his invitation had made Danny borderline giddy with anticipation. Gerald was the only person he knew who was a fan of Cracked Iris, which was a bit of a drag since Gerald was incredibly serious about band and wasn’t one for casual discussion about ANYTHING involving underground music. Iris was a goddess to his older brother. And you didn’t just squee over goddesses, you worshiped them. So Godfrey’s willingness to go see the show had opened the door for Danny to share his fondness of the music without listening to an eight hour ramble about Iris’s lip movements or how so-and-so ruined the legacy of this band or that one. Because music to Gerald was srs business.
“I’ll have to let you borrow Cracked Iris’s recent stuff,” Danny added thoughtfully. “They aren’t really big here anymore because they went overseas years ago… Their most recent CD was Zombie, so if you want, we can listen to that together, you know, to see if you like it.”
Their pizza came in a sigh of heat-steam engulfing the slim box, and Danny thanked the man behind the counter with a wide Hufflepuff smile. He moved back to the door, nudging it open with his elbow so Godfrey could go in front of him.

Godfrey held the door open for Danny in turn, making sure both boy and pizza made it safely through the door.
All the wonderful smells of cooking pizza had made Godfrey very hungry, and if the pizza dropped Godfrey would be nibbling on Danny until he fixed it. Not that Danny would really mind, he knew, and he gave Danny a mischeivous smile at the thought. Godfrey turned his thoughts inward momentarily. He had never known someone so eager to be in his company before. He figured he had to have been really self absorbed or busy studying not to know how much Danny had always seemed to like him.
"Sounds like fun too. I don't think I've ever heard of them before." Godfrey stood on the sidewalk, paying no mind to those who now had to walk around him. The rushing city smells helped to slightly dampen his hunger, but if the way he was eyeing the pizza was any indication, it wouldn't serve to distract for long.

Danny answered Godfrey’s predatory smirk with a startled, uncertain grin of his own. What was that look? It - it was kinda… sexy. Sexy wasn’t a word Danny used frequently - he’d heard Dad and Gerald use it to describe basically everything in a trashy sleeveless top and boots - but that look didn’t warrant anything less than such. Danny lowered his grasp on the pizza to below his waist for modesty’s sake.
“So, um, there’s a park around here somewhere,” he stammered, feeling silly and elated at the same time. “Do you want to eat this there, or my house?”

"Your house!" Godfrey answered, not having to think too hard about it. Parks were nice but Godfrey hoped to hang out with Danny a bit in order to get to know him better. And what better place to find fun things to do than someone's house?
"We can go to my house next time, I bet you'd like my Dad's theatre room. But there's more things to see outside. Have you ever seen a wild Jarvey? We've got tons of them in the woods. I tried to keep one as a pet once but had to show Dad where I was keeping it because he thought it was me who was swearing at him." Godfrey grinned, hooking his thumbs into his back pockets.

“I haven’t seen any magical creature other than what they have in class,” Danny admitted, having spent his entire childhood in London. The idea of spending time at Godfrey’s house was exciting - he’d told him their land was expansive, including a lake and a plethora of goats, and Danny was eager to explore. “We’ll have to do that soon. Maybe the weekend after next? Unless you’re getting tired of me eating up your weekends,” Danny added with a light, please-tell-me-I’m-wrong laugh.

" Really? Well we have a few different types of magical creatures. The wards keep them in and keep muggles out so they breed a lot. We'll definitely have to get strawberry tarts so I can show you Marvin." Godfrey grinned widely. The lake monster scared the crap out of people but he was actually somewhat friendly.
"If anything you'll get sick of me, Danny. And that'll work perfectly. I have tutoring every other weekend so I'm busy next weekend anyways." No need to elaborate further.
" I like the city but I couldn't live in it all the time. Do you even have a yard?" He wondered if Danny lived in one of the squashed houses nearby. The pizza was sounding tastier every second.

“Oh,” Danny mumbled in relation to Godfrey’s other weekend plans. If it wasn’t tutoring, maybe it was family stuff or something. His curiosity prickled but Danny brushed it aside by smiling. “No, I don’t really have a yard… I mean, kinda, but there’s trees in the way so you can’t even sit on the grass. I live in a duplex.”
Danny shifted the pizza as he walked, perching it on his fingers in loose imitation of a waiter, the fever-hot box posed in line with his shoulder. He dropped his other hand to hold Godfrey’s fingers, a new favorite pasttime of the Hufflepuff’s. “Our neighbors are this old couple… their grandson moved in recently, but I haven’t met him face-to-face…”
